SI PRÈS DU BUT, MAIS UNE FIN DE COURSE AMÈRE POUR RAPHAËL LESSARD

 

Newton, Caroline du Nord, le 6 mai 2018 - Fort de deux victoires au Hickory Motor Speedway, ovale de 0.6 km en Caroline du Nord, Raphaël Lessard ne renouvèle pas son succès des années passées en terminant le Cloer Construction 300 en 12ème position.

De retour dans la série CARS Response Energy Tour pour une épreuve de 150 tours au volant de sa Toyota Camry #51 FRL Express/Mobil 1/ Toyota préparée par l'équipe Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM), ce résultat représente mal les efforts de Raphaël et de l'équipe du champion de NASCAR.

Le jeune pilote membre du programme de développement de Toyota (TRD) n'aura pas eu beaucoup de chance lors des courses qualificatives, alors qu'un drapeau jaune a été déployé durant son tour rapide à cause d'une sortie de piste d'un compétiteur. Raphaël s'élançait donc de la 9ème position pour l'épreuve.

Ne restant pas dans cette position très longtemps, il s'est hissé en 2èmeposition dès le 12èmetour. Restant aux trousses du meneur pendant toute l'épreuve, Raphaël aurait très bien pu espérer un podium, sinon la victoire. Bien qu'il y ait eu des neutralisations, il est toujours resté prudemment en arrière du meneur. La Toyota Camry #51 était en bonne condition et n'a pas fait défaut de toute la course. L'équipe avait qu'un seul jeu de pneus pour les 150 tours et Raphaël a géré avec brio l'usure de ses pneus pour s'emparer de la tête de l'épreuve à compter du 143etour de l'épreuve et semblait filer vers sa première victoire de la saison. Hélas, il perd le commandement de l'épreuve au 149e tour face au pilote local qui n'a cessé durant les tours précédents à tamponner la voiture de Lessard.

 Toute l'action s'est déroulée dans le dernier tour lorsque le pilote québécois a tenté un dépassement sur le pilote de Caroline du Nord et s'est accroché avec lui.  Le pilote local a alors perdu la maîtrise de son bolide. Raphaël Lessard reprend la tête, mais croise le fil d'arrivée sous un drapeau jaune et non à damiers. L'épreuve est relancée mais Lessard est immédiatement pénalisé pour son contact avec le pilote local et se retrouve de ce fait même reléguer au dernier rang de l'épreuve… Lessard termine l'épreuve en 12èmeposition. 

 « Je suis très déçu de la situation, et je m'explique mal la décision de la série » avoue Raphaël après la course. « Il s'agit d'une course où le résultat ne représente pas l'esprit des courses et  les efforts de l'équipe. J'avais une bonne voiture, très bien préparée par l'équipe Kyle Busch Motorsports. Merci à mes partenaires FRL Express, Mobil 1 et Toyota, ainsi que mes parents, mes investisseurs et tous ceux qui se sont déplacé au Resto l'Express pour regarder la course. » 

Prochaine course au calendrier : 

La prochaine épreuve de Raphaël se déroulera le 20 mai prochain pour une épreuve conjointe ARCA-CRA/SSS/CARS au Bristol Motor Speedway au Tennessee.

Dominic Jacques se battra pour le championnat

C'est un réel plaisir de pouvoir compte pour une 6e année consécutive sur la participation du #67 Dominic Jacques deVallée-Jonction. Remportant le titre de recrue en 2013, champion 2015, il a terminé la saison dernière avec le titre de Vice-Champion.

Dominic Jacques est sans aucun doute un pilote talentueux. Pilote constant, il a réalisé à ce jour 31 tops 5, 20 podiums dont 9 victoires. Les deux présences de la Série à l'Autodrome Saint-Félicien à nouveau en 2018 lui seront sans aucun doute profitable lui qui a battu son propre record de piste à nouveau l'an dernier avec un temps de 17,558 en plus de battre le record de piste à l'Autodrome Montmagny le 2 septembre dernier avec un temps de 18,342. Il ne s'en cache pas; battre les records de piste fait partie d'un de ses grands plaisir! 

Son chef d'équipe, Julien Lanouette fait partie de l'équipe depuis sa première année avec la Série. «C'est son talent de pilotage, son attitude sérieuse mais décontracté, son honnêteté et son savoir-vivre qui m'a fait embarqué dans son équipe. Je suis fier d'être un équipier du sympathique pilote de Vallée-Jonction et je lui apporterai mon aide pour aussi longtemps qu'il en aura besoin » précise Julien. 

Pour la saison 2018, il pourra aussi compter sur l'appui de Julien Bernier comme «spotter» ainsi que Danny Groleau comme mécanicien. Une équipe qui réunit des amis de longue date et qui rallie les compétences de chacun afin de donner à leur pilote, une voiture performante de programme en programme. L'implication de François Cliche de Mac Rod Shop est aussi un élément important dans la réussite de l'équipe. 

Il roulera à bord de sa Toyota Camry aux couleurs de Boulevard Toyota/Lexus; fier partenaire du pilote pour une 3e année consécutive. On ne pourrait passer sous silence l'implication du Centre de l'Auto Vallée-Jonction et de Pierre Turmel Construction qui le supportent depuis ses débuts et sans qui il n'aurait pu se rendre là où il est actuellement.

Support 50 Legs 150 Up Next For PASS North At Star Speedway

NAPLES, ME (May 1) – A busy stretch for the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North Super Late Models continues this Saturday night at New Hampshire's Star Speedway, and they will be racing for more than just a checkered flag.  For the third year in a row, the Support 50 Legs 150 will help raise awareness for a cause affecting far too many Americans.  Steve Chamberland's 50 Legs organization helps provide amputees with the necessary care and prosthetics, that they could not otherwise afford, needed to live a happier and healthier life.

So far this season, Derek Griffth and Curtis Gerry have dominated the early going.  Griffith captured the checkered flag in the season opener at Thompson Speedway, while Gerry has been on a tear winning at Oxford Plains and at Beech Ridge.  The PASS North standings are tight, with former series champions, DJ Shaw and Travis Benjamin, separated by just 10 points, while Griffith, Reid Lanpher, Garrett Hall, and Glen Luce sit not far behind.

While he did win his second PASS North championship just two years ago, Shaw is hungry to get back to victory lane.  Shaw's last PASS win came almost a year ago at Thunder Road and the veteran from Center Conway, NH hopes the ingredients will be right to score another win this weekend in his home state.

"I think our season hasn't been the best so far, we've had some struggles, but we've gotten some decent finishes and we're working long nights in the shop in an effort to get better," says Shaw.

Shaw's only win at Star came in 2014 and helped propel him to his first PASS North Super Late Model title.  While he has won there in the past, Star is admittedly not one of his best tracks.  But, he believes Star might provide him with a good chance to shine and pad his point lead.

"Heading to Star we have some new ideas to try and hopefully we can get back on track to where we were when we won there a few years ago," said Shaw.  "I've had mixed results there and feel it's actually one of my weakest tracks as a driver.  If we can get the car to my liking and have a good run on Saturday, it would be great to keep our season headed in the right direction."

All the action gets under way on Friday at Star Speedway with rotating practice for all competing divisions from 5 – 9 PM.  On Saturday, practice will begin at 2:30 PM with heat races slated to begin at 5 PM, followed by features for the PASS North Super Late Models, 350 Supers, Strictlys, Six Shooters and Roadrunners.

SEEKONK, Mass. – For the first time since 2012, Pro All Star Series Super Late Models will return to the "Cement Palace" of Seekonk Speedway in 2018.

 

A 150-lap main event has been scheduled for Saturday, October 27, adding to an already impressive lineup of racing that includes the Tri Track Open Modified Series and Late Models at the Massachusetts oval. The race will also be the finale for the PASS schedule, which means the 2018 series champion will be crowned following the checkered flag.

 

"We're really excited to get to work with Wayne Darling of the Tri Track Open Modified Series," Tom Mayberry, the president of PASS said. "And, we are happy to return to the "Cement Palace" to crown the 2018 PASS North champion."

 

Seekonk runs Super Late Models on a weekly basis as part of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, and in some of the most recent PASS action at Seekonk, drivers that run weekly seem to have put together a stout effort. In 2009, Tom Scully Jr., held off champion Ben Rowe en route to the win in the 150-lap affair, while in 2010, defending Seekonk Pro Stock champion David Darling won the race, holding off Trevor Sanborn. In 2011, Johnny Clark found his way into Victory Lane, while DJ Shaw won the most recent event in 2012.

 

For Darling, who captured the 2017 Seekonk Pro Stock title in dominating fashion, the opportunity to race against PASS drivers provides him and other local competitors a chance to defend the home turf.

 

"I think it's pretty important (to defend our home turf)," Darling said. "Our cars are a lot closer to their cars now, -- over the last few years the rule changes have made our cars more competitive with them."

 

Among the outsiders coming in with the PASS on that Saturday afternoon will be Derek Griffith, who has already seen his fair share of success at the third-mile. In 2016, Griffith came off turn four battling for the lead on the final lap of the SLM Nationals, but came up just short in the end. Last year, he charged through the field in the second half of the 200-lap SLM Nationals feature, capturing the checkered flag and a smooth $10,000 paycheck with it.

 

"When they brought this up to us looking for some ideas, I was all for it," Griffith said. "I think my worst finish there is third, so we have a great record. I'm looking forward to going back, especially as the championship race. To close out the year at a place we know we are really strong, we are going to go in pretty confident."

 

As the addition to the Tri Track Open Modified Series "Haunted Hundred", a race which will crown the Tri Track champion, PASS provides another opportunity for fans to see multiple different styles of cars in the same day. With the open-wheel modifieds, full-fendered SLM's and Late Models, fans will have the chance to witness the finale of the New England racing season. The Tri Track race is scheduled for 100 laps, while the Late Models will run 60, and the PASS will run 150 circuits.

 

"It's the last race of the year to decide two championships," Wayne Darling, Managing Partner of the Tri Track Series said. "It's a Pro Stock and a Modified show, and both of them are ending their points races. It's a step in the right direction to make our show even better for the fans."

Il n'avait que 10 ans lorsque son père, Gaétan Lauzier a remporté la première course de l'histoire de la Série Sportsman Qc Lucas Oil sur le tracé de l'Autodrome St-Eustache.  

Déjà la passion des courses faisait partie de lui ayant suivi son père depuis son enfance sur les pistes du Québec. 

C'est en 2013 que Louis-Philippe Lauzier de St-Pacôme fait ses débuts sur le tracé de l'Autodrome Montmagny dans la classe Kamikaze terminant la saison 2e au championnat et remportant le titre de recrue de l'année. En 2014, il gradue en Sport Compact et participe au programme à l'Autodrome Montmagny ainsi qu'à l'Autodrome Chaudière. Terminant respectivement 5e et 12e aux championnats, il obtient le titre de recrue de l'année à l'Autodrome Montmagny et le titre du pilote ayant le meilleur esprit sportif à l'Autodrome Chaudière. 

Continuant sa progression lors de la saison 2015 en Sport Compact Élite, sa plus belle réalisation est sans aucun doute sa 2e position au championnat de la Triple Couronne qui s'est déroulé sur 3 tracés (Autodrome Montmagny, Autodrome Chaudière, Autodrome St-Félicien). Ses performances de la saison lui voudront le prix du pilote le plus amélioré. 

En 2016, il participe à plus de 16 courses. Louis-Philippe remporte son premier championnat à l'Autodrome Montmagny et obtient le titre de vice-champion à l'Autodrome Chaudière. Montant sur le podium à 11 reprises dont 3 victoires en plus des 14 tops 5 et 15 tops 10, il obtient à nouveau le titre du pilote s'étant le plus amélioré ainsi que le prix du meilleur esprit sportif. 

L'an dernier, il savait que c'était sa dernière saison en Sport Compact et l'objectif était clair; défendre son titre de champion ce qu'il parvint à faire malgré un début de saison avec son lot de malchance. Parallèlement, il débute avec la Série Sportsman Qc en participant à 3 programmes afin de se familiariser avec la voiture et sa conduite et être fin prêt pour 2018.  

Afin de l'aider à atteindre son objectif, l'équipe Lauzier a fait l'acquisition à l'automne dernier de la voiture du champion 2017, Samuel Charland. En plus de pouvoir compter sur l'expérience de son père, Lauzier a su s'entourer d'un excellent «spotter». En effet, Eric Neveu qui a travaillé avec de grands noms, entres autre auprès de Kyle Bush à sa venue au Québec, apportera son expertise lors de cette saison; un atout important pour l'équipe en quête du titre de recrue! 

Pour cette saison, il peut compter sur la présence de Construction Pierre Bonenfant, Buro Bar & Grill, Rousseau Métal et Action Race Wraps comme commanditaire principal.

Après quelques années d'absence au micro de l'Autodrome Drummond,

Anthony Marcotte sera de retour comme annonceur officiel en 2018. En

2008 Anthony faisait ses débuts au micro de l'Autodrome et il a occupé

cette fonction pendant plusieurs années. C'est avec plaisir que le

promoteur Yan Bussière, qui lui a donné sa première chance et toute

l'équipe de l'Autodrome Drummond accueille de nouveau Anthony dans le

rôle d'annonceur maison pour la majorité des programmes de la saison.


Lorsque les occupations professionnelles d'Anthony l'empêcheront d'être

à son poste, un autre habitué de l'Autodrome effectuera aussi un retour

dans le rôle qu'il a déjà aussi occupé. Dominic Beauchesne nous fera

l'honneur, à l'occasion, de reprendre les reines de l'animation principale,

rôle qu'il tient à merveille de manière dynamique.


Un autre se joint à l'équipe cette saison, Charles Guillemette s'occupera

d'animer l'action lors des intermissions et de soutenir les animateurs lors

des soirées de courses. Ce dernier est un ajout de taille à l'équipe par son

expérience en course, et tout autres activités d'animation qu'il occupe de

manière professionnelle avec brio depuis plusieurs années.


L'année 2018 s'annonce des plus vivantes au micro de l'Autodrome.

Fans are making plans, rewriting schedules and people are even booking time off work. The Trailers Plus Ontario Legends Asphalt Nationals – Friday and Saturday – July 13th and 14th is more than 4 months away, but its already becoming one of the most talked about events on the provincial motorsports calendar. Spokesperson Andrew McFadden – along with board members Jeff Drimmie and Kevin Foisy – says its great news for every Legends Series racer in Ontario.

 

"We're putting a shovel in the ground at both Kawartha Downs and Peterborough Speedway for this spotlight event," Andrew McFadden said. "With the Eastern and Western Ontario Legends divisions operating under the same promotional umbrella this year, we were already looking at close to 40 teams in the pit area, but the out-of-towners will help pack the place."

 

The start of INEX regional points for the 2018 season is Saturday, May 19th at Peterborough Speedway's opener. McFadden says the teams can't wait to kick-off an exciting new calendar of action.

 

"Other drivers saw the level of success Matt Haufe had on the tour in 2017 and want to have their kick at the can," McFadden said. "Being in the right place at the right time – combined with a good helping hard work and some racing luck – could very well put them in the same position."

 

This year's combined east-west tour has a total of 21dates, a pair of National Qualifiers and the 2-day Ontario Legends Asphalt Nationals event, at about a half dozen different venues and concludes with the crowning of the 2018 champion at Peterborough Speedway's 26th annual Autumn Colours Classic.
