WHAT THEY'RE SAYING

JOEY DOIRON, Driver of the No. 73 JBJ Machine/Dale Shaw Race Cars Chevrolet, On rebounding from a disappointing day at Beech Ridge two weeks ago: “I'm pretty sure that setup-wise we were way better than we performed. It came down to getting a bad set of tires. We kind of shot ourselves in the foot with the tires all day – we just had to play the hand we were dealt in the race. I don't think we were as bad as what the finish was.

I just want a good finish (at Star Speedway) – I don't care if we have a terrible race and luck into a good finish. At this point, I'd almost rather have that than run up front all day and have bad luck at the end take us out like has happened the last couple of races for us.

I just want to get the kind of result our performance says we should have had.”

On racing at Star Speedway: “I like the track. It's a track where you can get up on the wheel. A driver can make up for it more so than at Beech Ridge or some place like that, where the car has you along for the ride if you don't hit the setup.”

On how Star compares to other quarter-mile tracks in the series: “I thought it drove like Canaan (Fair Speeday), but it's smaller and tighter than that.

It's flatter, and the corners are a lot tighter than White Mountain. It's way rougher, too. We just have to go there and try and keep the fenders on it, and we should be pretty good.”

UP NEXT

The PASS North Series visits its second straight quarter-mile in the Granite State with a stop at White Mountain Motorsports Park in North Woodstock, N.H., for the PASS 150... Joey Doiron posted finishes of ninth and 13th in the two races at White Mountain in 2010. His ninth-place finish in the first race there in May gave him back-to-back Top-10s to open the season.
