« Il reste trois épreuves, c’est encouragent puisque nous avons eu des bonnes courses en ovale depuis le début de la saison. L’équipe est même surprise des résultats et il faut continuer sur cette lancée pour s’assurer de comptabiliser un maximum de points. D’autant plus que l’écart entre les pilotes au championnat se restreint et la compétition va être de plus en plus forte, nous sommes prêts pour cela », partage avec conviction Louis-Philippe Dumoulin. En 2011, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin avait pris la décision de défendre le championnat des recrues en participant à ces trois mêmes courses sur circuit ovale. Les dernières semaines avaient été empreintes de persévérance et d’audace, notamment dans la recherche de financement et de stratégie en piste afin de franchir la ligne d’arrivée avec une voiture qui n’était pas du tout adaptée pour ce type de circuit. L’équation est différente cette année pour le détenteur du titre de Recrue de l’année 2011 (remporté avec seulement huit participations/13 courses). Les partenaires de l’équipe, WeatherTech Canada et Groupe Bellemare, permettent à Louis-Philippe Dumoulin de conduire une voiture performante et préparée spécifiquement pour chaque piste. Déterminé à accumuler un maximum de points au championnat, le Québécois profitera de l’expérience acquise sur ce tri-ovale pour se battre dans le peloton de tête. « À Barrie, il faut vraiment être patient. La piste de Barrie est très serrée, rapide et à inclinaison progressive. La conduite doit être intelligente, c’est une course extrêmement relevée, les risques d’accrochages sont nombreux. Même si l’action est appréciée par les spectateurs, pour nous, l’objectif principal est de s’assurer d’être présent à la fin de la course pour terminer parmi les premiers », explique le pilote de la Dodge n°47 WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare. In 2011, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin made the decision to defend the Rookie of the Year championship by also participating on these same last three oval tracks. The last few weeks had been marked with perseverance and audacity, notably in searching for funding and track strategies in order to cross the finish line in a car that was really not adapted for this type of oval racing. The equation is different this year for the 2011 Rookie of the Year Champion (won while participating in only eight of the 13 events). The teams’ partners, WeatherTech Canada and Groupe Bellemare, allow Louis-Philippe Dumoulin to drive a performing car that is specifically prepared for each race. Determined to accumulate a maximum number of points in the championship, the Quebecer will take advantage of the experience accumulated on this tri-oval track to compete in the leading group. « In Barrie, we must be patient. The Barrie track is tight, fast, with a progressive inclination. The driving must be done intelligently; with lots of action, the risk for collisions is high.
