DID YOU KNOW?
Brian Hoar holds the ACT Late Model Tour record for championships (8) and wins (38).
RPM Motorsports will run a part-time schedule in 2013, including the first four ACT Late Model Tour events of the season and then select Late Model events throughout the summer and fall.
Brian Hoar has won back-to-back ACT Late Model Tour races seven times in his career, most recently taking consecutive events at Riverside Speedway in St. Croix, Que., and Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vt., on Aug. 25 and September 2 of 2012.
Brian Hoar plans to make a second consecutive appearance in the 25th anniversary of the Vermont City Marathon in Burlington, Vt., this coming Memorial Day weekend.
WHAT THEY ARE SAYING
"When they paved it (in 2010), it changed things a little bit. It hasn't really changed the configuration if you were to look at the track from above, but the way you run the lines through the corners always changes a little bit with fresh pavement. But it's not a lot – it's still the same Airborne that it's been last 20 years. It's like any other race track – it's got its own little parts that are unique, but it's still go fast, turn left."
On if he views this weekend as a "test" for the inaugural International 500 at Airborne Speedway in July: "Yeah, absolutely. Because this is our one opportunity to run against other guys and see how we stack up against them, yeah this is it. This is the chance to get ready (for the International 500).
"It will be interesting to see who runs well there this weekend. Typically, the guys who run well there – Wayne (Helliwell) has been fast there, won the race last year that won the championship – are the guys that are fast everywhere. The usual suspects are going to be the same."
On if Airborne races differently in the spring than it does in the summer or fall: "Not a lot. It's probably more consistent than some tracks we go to. It's not as temperamental with weather changes as some places, like Thunder Road or some others. We are going to go through it a little bit this weekend – it will be warm in the afternoon when we first get started, then cool off a bit at night for the race.
"I'm looking forward to going racing this weekend. We'll see what happens from there."
