ACT Tour Takes on White Mountain Stars as Season Hits Halfway Mark

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                 ACT061515-60

Waterbury, VT – The American-Canadian Tour (ACT) makes its annual visit to the White Mountain Motorsports Park in N. Woodstock, NH for the WMMP 150 on Saturday, June 20. The event will be the seventh on the Tour's 13-race schedule and officially mark the halfway point of the 2015 season.

As with ACT's 23 previous visits to the 1/4-mile oval, many of the weekly White Mountain Late Model stars will take on the Tour's best. Although there have been close calls, including former White Mountain Champion Travis Fadden's third-place finish in 2014, the local drivers are still looking for their big breakthrough in a Tour event.

N. Haverhill, NH's Fadden has already filed an entry for the race, as has St. Johnsbury, VT's Tyler Cahoon. The multi-time White Mountain Late Model winner is running an "outlaw" campaign in 2015 that includes a partial ACT Tour schedule, where he has two top-10 finishes. But Cahoon still considers White Mountain to be his home turf.

"I'm looking forward to this race," Cahoon said. "This is definitely one we've marked on our calendar. We've been running with the Tour guys, and we've been getting used to a brand new car and being able to make adjustments to it, so I'm looking forward to getting down there."

Cahoon cites ACT Tour drivers' experience with setting up and racing on brand-new tires as a big factor for their success at White Mountain, but hopes his time with the Tour this season will close the gap.

"It seems kind of weird that your one-tire-a-week program isn't as good when you put four tires on, but it's really not," Cahoon said of the challenge for local drivers. "You're used to racing on three used tires and one good one. You have to change your setup quite a bit to manage your tires the way you do on a weekly series."

On the ACT side, New Hampshire veterans Wayne Helliwell Jr. and Joey Polewarczyk bring their scintillating championship duel back to their home state. The two have combined to win 5 of the 6 events so far this season. Helliwell currently holds a slim five-point edge over "Joey Pole" in the overall standings.

An intriguing points battle is also shaping up through the rest of the ACT field. Just 18 points separate co-third place point drivers Brad Babb and Jeff White from eighth-place Nick Sweet. White was the surprise winner of last year's WMMP 150 and will aim to use this year's event to open some ground over the pack.

Emily Packard, Travis Stearns, and Brandon Atkins are also part of the third-to-eighth battle and are additionally looking to gain ground on Babb in the Bond Auto Parts New Champions standings. Kyle Welch sits ninth in the overall points after consecutive top-10 finishes and could join the fray with another strong run. Quebec veteran Claude Leclerc has also filed an entry and will make a rare U.S. appearance.

The WMMP 150 for the ACT U.S. Tour will be held at White Mountain Motorsports Park on Saturday, June 20. White Mountain's weekly divisions will also be in action. Post time is 5:00pm.
