Scott Steckly and Erb Transport Food Drive Set to Launch Tomorrow

#ErbDriveFor5

For Immediate Release

Monday December 12, 2016 - (Baden, ON) - Four-time NASCAR Pinty's Series Champion Scott Steckly and long-time sponsor Erb Transport's #ErbDrivefor5 five-day food drive is set to launch tomorrow, Tuesday December 13th, in support of the Wilmot Family Resource Centre's Food Bank, a member of the Food Bank of Waterloo Region.

Giving back to the community and helping those in need has been a core principal of the Erb Group of Companies from the beginning. Since its inception in 1959 they have remained committed to being a good corporate citizen and employer. For the past 10 years Erb Transport has held an internal pre-holiday season food and toy drive. Most recently with Trucks For Change, a group who connect truck carriers with community charities, they helped by taking a shipment of donated food to Thunder Bay in Northwestern Ontario.

Representing Erb Transport since 1999, Steckly drove to National titles in 2008, 2011, 2013 and 2015. He is most recognized as a driver but he's also well respected within the NASCAR Pinty's Series community as the 22 Racing Team owner.

"Like a career in racing, life has its highs and lows.  My family, the 22 Racing crew, sponsors and their families and fans have supported me during the wins and through the challenging times." said Steckly "I've been truly blessed with the support I have around me. The Holiday Season can put an extra strain on families who may already be struggling. Together with Erb Transport we look forward to helping the 1 in 20 households that struggle to find their way from hunger to hope."

Within the Region of Waterloo – which includes Wilmot Township, 17% of those accessing food assistance are employed, 3% receive Employment Insurance, 30% receive Ontario Disability Support. 40% of households receiving food support are families with children.  Since 2008 there has been a 30% increase in emergency food hamper requests in Waterloo Region.

From December 13th to December 16th 2016 non-perishable food items can be dropped off in the lobby at three Erb Group locations:

Erb Transport – Head Office
290 Hamilton Road
New Hamburg

Erb Transport – Baden
