Waterbury, VT – American-Canadian Tour (ACT) officials announced today that they have finalized the point fund for the 2018 ACT Late Model Tour season. A total of $40,750 has been posted in season-ending awards, a total increase of nearly $10,000 over the 2017 season.
The 2018 ACT Late Model Tour champion will receive the same $10,000 point fund award has they have in recent seasons. However, substantial increases have been posted for much of the top-10. Second place in the final standings for the upcoming season will receive $6,000, while the third-place finisher is slated to earn $4,500. Fourth and fifth place will collect $3,500 and $3,000, respectively.
Additional declinations will continue down to $1,000 point fund awards for those that finish between eighth and 15th in the standings. Teams must attend 100 percent of all point-counting ACT Late Model Tour events to be eligible for a point fund check.
A separate Rookie of the Year point fund will also be available. The top driver in the final rookie standings will receive an extra $1,000, with additional awards for the remainder of the top-five. As with the regular standings, rookies must be "100%'ers" to qualify for point fund money.
"It's important for a touring series to reward teams that support it for the entire season," ACT co-owner Cris Michaud said. "Increasing the point fund is a way of showing that we appreciate them showing up at every event and supporting ACT. It will also give the drivers who may be just outside of championship contention something extra to race for, which we believe will lead to more exciting action down the stretch of the season."
The ACT Late Model Tour will open its 27th season of competition with the New Hampshire Governor's Cup at Lee USA Speedway. Ten events are scheduled at tracks throughout New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine and Connecticut.
