TARGA TRUCK CONSTANTLY IMPROVING…
EVEN WHILE ON DISPLAY IN THE PERFORMANCE
IMPROVEMENTS BOOTH AT MOTORAMA
March 8, 9 & 10, 2019 at Toronto's International Centre
TORONTO, ON // FEBRUARY 25, 2019 • Performance Improvements is returning to theMotorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo for a fifth consecutive year. The 2019 edition of their display – in Booth #101 at the entrance to Hall 1 – will feature Mark Bovey's 1971 GMC farm truck; the first of its kind to ever race in Targa Newfoundland.
The Toronto Motorama show takes place on March 8, 9 & 10 at The International Centre, across from Toronto's Pearson Airport.
In 2015, Bovey and co-driver Miles Markovic took the heavily modified truck, which Bovey's father bought for the then 14-year-old for $100, to Newfoundland to race in one of the most difficult endurance races in North America. Over the course of the five-segment event, Bovey and Markovic shocked the locals and their fellow racers, earning the Rookie of the Year title, a second-place finish in the Classic division and proving a truck could be successful in such a gruelling event.
With success at Targa Newfoundland achieved, Bovey has turned his attention to the legendary Pikes Peak hill climb and has begun the process of further modifying the venerable truck to prepare for it.
In fact, Bovey and his team will be working the car at Motorama! At 3 p.m. on Saturday (March 9), showgoers can watch Bovey plumb the Targa Truck with Vibrant Performance PTFE-lined hoses and fittings at the Performance Improvements display.
In addition to Bovey's truck, the Performance Improvements display will feature additional products from Canada's own Vibrant Performance parts, a set of Baja 1000 headers built by IIk Design and Fabrication, a complete intercooler/heat exchanger setup by Proper Fabrications and a Schmuck-built turbo manifold.
The Performance Improvements display will also feature the world's most expensive Muskoka chair, built entirely from Vibrant Performance titanium pieces, plus products available for purchase with cash, Visa or Mastercard, including EFIs from Fitech and Holley, Racequip helmets and safety equipment, So-Cal t-shirts and hats and much more.
ABOUT PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENTS: In 1964, young Susan McKee (ultimately McJannett) was tired of listening to her boyfriend, Bob McJannett, complain about the bad customer service he received while buying his performance parts and thought they could do better. She invested all her savings to open their own part-time speed shop in Etobicoke, ON. Over 50 years later, this family-run Canadian business is still going strong and the Performance Improvements warehouse superstore in Etobicoke is the largest Speed Shop in Ontario.
