It had been a while since the Mercer Motorsports No. 81 Late Model team had been part of the weekly action at Peterborough Speedway, but everything is about to change.
Saturday, August 17th Port Hope, Ontario's Jacob Mercer will begin a stretch of 3-straight racing weekends with the year's final Double Toonie/Fan Appreciation Night, presented by Pepsi. The popular Central Ontario oval known for Making Memories for Life will present a full night of racing, with grandstand admission at only $4.00. The talented 3rd generation racer says the opportunities to interact with the fans are some of his favourite events of the season.
"The Fan Appreciation Nights are a great way to introduce our sport of local racing to a new group of supporters," said Jacob Mercer. "I remember when Dad was still racing and they'd open the track at intermission so people could come and meet the drivers. Its great to be able to talk to the fans and answer their questions about the car and the type of racing that we do. I can't think of a better way to build our weekly fan base."
Heading into this weekend's event, the 18-year-old sits 2nd in the Peterborough Speedway point standings. With 3 events remaining in the 2024 regular season schedule, he's less than 30 points out of the overall Late Model division's top spot.
Driver Jacob Mercer and members of the No. 81 Mercer Motorsports team thank their 2024 marketing partners Sine's Flooring, Durmach Precision Tooling, Facility Services, Courtice Septic, Beyond Signs & Design, Lindsay Dodge Chrysler, CARSTAR Lindsay, Lindsay Buick GMC, Highland Designs by Tracy Pattison, Cressman Tree Maintenance, Richter Law, BJ Tackle, Kawartha Metals, K9INE Protection, YoungCo Septic Design & Install, Cliffshore Excavating, Sarah Turck Sherwood Mortgage Group, Andrea Spohn Desjardins Insurance, Ganaraska Financial, Cooper Equipment Rentals, Parkin Lawn Care, Holdaway Motorsports and Clarke Motorsports Communications for their support.
