Grogan's Towne Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Sponsoring and Offering Promotion for ARCA Truck Series Race May 19

(TOLEDO, Ohio) - After launching a new promotional partnership last spring, the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA), Toledo Speedway, and Grogan's Towne Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram of Toledo have enhanced that relationship for 2012 - ARCA's 60th Anniversary Season.

 

The connection between the three key Toledo groups will be evident on Saturday, May 19, as Grogan's Towne will sponsor that afternoon's ARCA Truck Series race at Toledo Speedway, the Grogan's Towne 50. The race will lead one of the year's top race weekends at the half-mile oval, as the stars of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards will shine in the next day's Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care.

 

The Grogan's Towne 50 will open the ARCA Truck Series' 14th season, also marking the beginning of ARCA Fan Fest 2012, the interactive fan event surrounding the ARCA Racing Series event weekend at Toledo Speedway.

 

"ARCA is well known throughout the country but lucky for us, it's based right in our neighborhood," said Denny Amrhein, general manager and partner at Grogan's Towne. "We are proud to support our local community and especially our partnership with the leading racing organization."

 

The race sponsorship is beneficial not only for the track, but for area fans as well. Starting Thursday, May 10, race fans and customers who visit Grogan's Towne for oil change service any day through May 19 will receive two tickets to the Grogan's Towne 50 after the completion of their service.

  

Additionally, Grogan's Towne has renewed its position as an Official Sponsor of the ARCA Safety Initiative, and has supplied a Dodge Ram truck to be used as the chase vehicle for the 2012 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season. The vehicle is used as the first-response vehicle for all ARCA Racing Series events, carrying ARCA Safety Initiative officials to the scene of on-track incidents to provide observations and evaluation of the track conditions and driver status.

Save Big Money: June 2 ARCA Racing Series Tickets

Going on Sale at Menards Stores near Elko Speedway

(ELKO NEW MARKET, Minn.) - In addition to roles as the presenting sponsor of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards and as a co-primary sponsor on Frank Kimmel's No. 44 Ansell/Menards Toyota, Menards is participating heavily in promotion of the Saturday, June 2 Akona 200 presented by Federated Car Care at Elko Speedway.


 The race will be the first appearance for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards at the track south of Minneapolis and St. Paul, and Menards stores in and around the area will give race fans and store customers the chance to "Save Big Money" on tickets to see the action live for the first time.

Starting Friday - tomorrow - fans can buy tickets for the ARCA race at $15 - a 40 percent, or $10, discount off of the advertised at-track price - at 32 Menards stores in Minnesota.

The store locations are: Alexandria, Apple Valley, Baxter, Blaine, Brooklyn Park, Buffalo, Burnsville, Cambridge, Coon Rapids, Cottage Grove, Dundas, Eden Prairie, Elk River, Forest Lake, Fridley, Golden Valley, Hudson, Hutchinson, Mankato, Maple Grove, Maplewood, Oakdale, Red Wing, two stores in Rochester, St. Cloud, St. Croix Falls, St. Paul Midway, Stillwater, West St. Paul, Willmar, and Winona.

The in-store ticket promotion will last until Friday, June 1, one day before the race.

While in the store, race fans and customers can also enter a promotion to win four VIP tickets, at-track hospitality, and the chance to wave the green flag at the start of the race, among other prizes. The promotion begins tomorrow and will end on Monday, May 28.

The Akona 200 will begin at 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, with two 45-minute practices scheduled for 2 and 3:15, and Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell following at 5. Each driver in the starting field will participate in an on-track autograph session from 6:30 to 7:30, just before the green flag. All times are Central. Elko Speedway is located at 26350 France Avenue in Elko New Market.

The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards has crowned an ARCA national champion each year since its inaugural season in 1953, and has toured over 200 race tracks in 28 states since its inception. The series has tested the abilities of drivers and race teams over the most diverse schedule of stock car racing events in the world, visiting tracks ranging from 0.4 mile to 2.66 miles in length, on both paved and dirt surfaces as well as a left- and right-turn road course in its most recent season. This year, the series visited Alabama's Mobile International Speedway for the first time. In June, the first event at Minnesota's Elko Speedway will give ARCA a race in a 29th state.

Coming Up in the ARCA Racing Series: Salem

(TOLEDO, Ohio) - One month has passed since the most recent race on the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule, but teams will soon be back in action - and at one of the tracks which is most notable in ARCA's 60 years, no less.

On April 29, the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200 at Salem Speedway will bring ARCA competitors to the high-banked 0.555-mile oval in southern Indiana for the first time this year and 91st time since 1955. The ARCA Racing Series - ARCA's flagship series for developmental drivers and veterans alike - will hold practice and qualifying on Saturday, April 28, with the race set for Sunday afternoon.

The basic facts and figures surrounding the race are as follows:

What: Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200, the third race of 20 on the 2012 ARCA Racing Series schedule

When: 2:15 p.m., Sunday, April 29

Where: Salem Speedway

Distance: 200 laps, or 111 miles

Last year's winner (spring): Brennan Poole. Poole's win for Venturini Motorsports at Salem Speedway on May 1, 2011 came in his first ARCA Racing Series start.

Last year's pole winner (spring): Ty Dillon, 17.509 seconds (114.113 mph).

ARCA qualifying record at track: Gary Bradberry, 16.785 seconds (119.035 mph) - 1994.

Last year's race summary: Poole started second to Dillon but fell one lap off the pace just after the halfway point. Poole later earned the lap back and passed Tom Hessert for the lead on Lap 176. He held Dillon and nine-time Salem winner Frank Kimmel off over the final restarts of a race which was extended to 206 laps because of late incidents and caution periods.

Who's in: Among the notable pre-entries are: Poole; Kimmel; Hessert; Sean Corr; Chad Hackenbracht; Mikey Kile; Matt Lofton; Jared Marks; Ryan Reed; Chris Buescher, the September 2011 Salem winner and ARCA Rookie of the Year; Chase Elliott, son of NASCAR champion Bill Elliott; Erik Jones, ARCA's first 15-year-old driver; Clint King, last fall's pole winner at Salem; Alex Bowman, a two-time ARCA winner; and Will Kimmel, last fall's runner-up at Salem.

Schedule of accompanying on-track events: Practice: 12-12:45 p.m., 1:15-2 p.m., Saturday, April 28; Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell: 3:30 p.m., Saturday, April 28.

History at track: ARCA first raced at Salem Speedway in 1955; Jack Harrison won the first three ARCA events at the track. ARCA champion Jack Bowsher won seven straight races at Salem between 1963 and 1965. Eight different drivers have won the last eight events at Salem; one of those drivers is Indiana's Frank Kimmel, who earned his first Salem victory in 1998 but has not won in a span of 65 races since the September 2008 event at the track.
