ACT Result - Nick Sweet Takes Second Merchants Bank 150 in a Row

Barre, VT – Barre, VT’s Nick Sweet claimed his second straight Merchants Bank 150 win at Thunder Road International Speedbowl on Sunday, May 1. The defending track champion came from his 8th starting position to take the lead from Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. on lap 91. Sweet would work his way through lap traffic with ease and never relinquished the lead for the remainder of the event.

 

Graniteville’s John Donahue led from the outside pole for the first four laps before Polewarczyk took over from the fourth place starting spot. Polewarczyk survived the only restart of the event after a lap 9 caution for a spin. He then took control of the event and lapped the majority of the field before Sweet reeled him in and took the lead.

 

Polewarczyk held on for second, Donahue claimed third, St-Denis, QC’s Patrick Laperle and seven-time ACT Tour Champion Brian Hoar completed the top five. London, Ontario’s Jonathan Urlin came all the way from the 21st starting position to take sixth, Groveton, NH’s Randy Potter rebounded from an early spin to take seventh, Ben Ashline, Quinny Welch, and Mark Lamberton rounded out the top ten.

 

The event only saw one caution on lap 9 and completed the race on a 141 lap green flag run. It was completed in just 39 minutes and 24 seconds.

 

Sweet becomes the second qualifier for the 3rd Annual ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He finished second in the inaugural event in 2009.

 

The Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen saw Bradford’s Derrick O’Donnell claim his fourth career Tiger feature win. He held off second year driver Jason Allen of Barre and Pete Ainsworth of Middlesex. Craftsbury’s Mike Martin and Joey Roberts of Georgia completed the top five.

 

Washinton’s Paul Giacherio took his first career feature win in the Allen Lumber Street Stock division. He beat out former Street Stock Champion Gary Mullen of Tunbridge and Martin Ingram of Essex. Joe Fecteau of Hardwick and Thomas Placey of Bradford completed the top five.

 

Kevin Wheatley of Williamstown took his second career win in the Junkyard Warriors. Williamstown’s Brock Parrott and Waterbury’s Jason Woodard completed the top three.

 

Car show winners were Fayston’s Brooks Clark in the Late Models, Bradford’s Derrick O’Donnell in the Tiger Sportsmen, Williamstown’s Sid Sweet, Jr. in the Allen Lumber Street Stocks and Waterbury’s Jason Woodard claimed the Junkyard Warrior.

 

The ACT Late Model Tour has next weekend off before they Oxford Plains Speedway for a 150 lap event on Sunday, May 15. Thunder Road International Speedbowl’s next event is the Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic on Sunday, May 29.

Johnny Clark claims PASS North opening day thriller at Beech Ridge

Scarborough ME (4/30) Johnny Clark reclaimed the lead on lap 120 of Saturday's Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North season opener at Scarborough Maine's Beech Ridge Motor Speedway and the defending super late model champ survived several late race cautions to nab the 150 lap feature over a charging Donnie Whitten. Ben Rowe, Lonnie Sommerville and Shawn Turple rounded out the top five.

 

Clark led the most laps from his pole position start but the win was by no means easy. There were plenty of challengers up front. Travis Benjamin dogged the leader early on until mechanical issues sent him to the pit area. Benjamin returned to finish ninth. Derek Ramstrom was on fire too, taking the lead away from the defending series champ on lap 113.But problems sidelined Ramstrom too, possibly the result of contact with Clark on one of several tooth and nail restarts as the pair battled for the top spot. Ramstrom's troubles gave Trevor Sanborn a shot at the lead and he took advantage, taking over the point for several laps before Clark powered by on a lap 120 restart.

 

Donnie Whitten was the man on the move, racing up from shot gun on the field into the top ten by lap 40. Whitten spun under green on lap 101 and had to scramble back through the field without the aid of a caution. When the checkers dropped Whitten was two car lengths and one position shy of his goal but his performance kept the packed grandstand on the edge of their seats from start to finish.

 

Rowe, Sanborn, Sommerville, Ramstrom Shawn Turple and Bill Rodgers were all at or near the front all day. Quebec's Alex Gingras earned his best PASS finish to date with a sixth place run. It was a good day at the races for our friends from the North, with New Brunswick's Sommerville fourth, Nova Scotian Shawn Turple fifth and Gingras just outside the top five.

 

Plenty of new faces dotted the results including. Jonathon Hicken, Kyle DeSouza, Matt Matheson and Bryan Kruscek Larry Gelinas returned to PASS North competition for the first time in several years in the McKeage 40 but the multi time PASS North winner was sidelined early..Defending race winner Mike Rowe was behind the wheel of a new ride but the team had a tough day finishing eighteenth, two laps down.

 

Clark, Benjamin and Sanborn each claimed a heat race win and Kirk Thibeau won the consolation round. Sixteen cars finished on the lead lap. Clark's margin of victory was .336 seconds.

 

Both the PASS Mod and Sportsman divisions got their touring seasons underway at Beech Ridge and defending PASS Mod Champion Andy Shaw scored a dominant win from the pole, leading all 40 laps. Alan Wilson, Mod newcomer Travis Buzzell, Dana Reed and Scott McDaniel raced home second through fifth. Shaw and Wilson both scored a heat race win.

 

Shane Tatro and Carey Martin dueled early on in the PASS Sportsman's 75 lap feature but it was Tatro claiming the lead for good just past the half way mark to take down the opening day win. Clyde Hennessey snuck by Martin for second and Martin had to settle for third. Craig Smith and Kevin Douglas rounded out the top five. Martin and Tatro won their qualifiers.

WEEK-END MOTORISÉ TOUTES DISCIPLINES
AXÉ SUR LA PARTICIPATION DU PUBLIC !

Toutes les disciplines motorisées seront de la partie au cours du dernier week-end d’avril alors que l’Autodrome St-Eustache convie autant les participants que les amateurs de courses motorisées à une journée Porte Ouverte qui se tiendra le samedi 30 avril prochain.

Enduro 200 le 1er mai.

Autant les adeptes de la Drift, de circuit routier, d’acccélération et de stock car pourront faire les premiers essais de leurs bolides sur les différents circuits de l’ASE, et ce, tout-à-fait gratuitement.

Le fait marquant de cette journée est que ces participants devront inviter des amateurs présents comme co-pilotes lors de leurs présences en piste tout au long de l’après-midi alors que tour-à tour chaque discipline aura des périodes d’essais assujetties à un horaire pré-établie.

STOCK CAR
Des adeptes de stock-car pourront à quatre reprises participer comme co-pilote à des courses « Sensation Sport Compactes » en toute sécurité dans des voitures munies de sièges-passagers de course, de ceintures adéquates, les passagers-invités seront équipés de casques de sécurité et d’habits de course.

CONCOURS-RECRUES ISA RACING TEAM avec BERTRAND GODIN
Plusieurs recrues en lice participeront également à des essais à bord des deux voitures de la populaire pilote Sportsman Isabelle Tremblay dans le but de remplacer celle-ci qui devra s’absenter à quelques reprises au cours de la saison 2011 pour effectuer des courses avec la série nationale à travers le Canada. Peut-être même qu’un de ceux-ci pourrait s’approprier du titre de pilote régulier de la 2e voiture d’ISA RACING TEAM suite à ces essais. Près d’une bonne douzaine d’aspirants participeront à ce concours qui sera sous la supervision du réputé BERTRAND GODIN, personnalité connue dans le sport motorisé.

DRIFTING
Le même principe que les courses « Sensation Sport Compacte » s’appliquera aux amateurs qui seront invités aux essais de « Drift », toute une sensation en perspective !

CIRCUIT ROUTIER
Simultanément, d’autres participants pourront circuler à titre de co-pilotes invités dans des voitures lors de sessions de « lapping » sur le circuit routier sur le site de l’ASE.

DRAG DE RUE
Cette journée endiablée comportera une heure de DRAG DE RUE avec des gens de l’estrade qui seront invités à participer avec leur voiture personnelle à une heure de compétitions « drag de rue » de 16h15 à 17h15

COURSE DE RUE
Une course de voitures de rue « plaquées » sur la piste ovale clôturera cette journée Porte Ouverte à 17h15. Aucune voiture de compétition (Challenge 4, Enduro ou autres) ne sera acceptée dans cette épreuve de 10 tours qui sera composé exclusivement de gens de l’estrade avec leur voiture personnelle.

Le lendemain, 1er mai sont invités au premier événement de stock-car de la saison qui se tiendra, une course ENDURO de 200 tours qui réunira une centaine de voitures qui prendront le départ de la course de 200 tours sur le coup des 14 heures. Cet événement sera préalablement précédée de sessions d’inspections et de pratiques en avant-midi. Les puits, quant à eux seront ouverts dès 7 heures et les pratiques (pour les voitures inspectées seulement) débuteront à 10h.

Airbone PR - Huge Modified field expected for Airborne opener

South Plattsburgh, NY – Airborne Speedway begins its 58th season Saturday, May 7 and a large, possibly record-breaking, field of DIRTcar Modifieds is expected to attempt to qualify for the Della Motor Group “Fast 50” main event.

 

“We have spoken with several new Quebec teams and some drivers who competed on the CVRA circuit last year,” promoter Mike Perotte said. “Based on those conversations, I think we’re likely to have 35 or more Modifieds for the opener. We’ll have a better idea after the Saturday’s (April 30) practice.”

 

A 35-car Modified field would require a “B” feature or last chance qualifier to complete the ‘Fast 50’. “If that’s what it takes, it’s fine with me,” Perrotte said.

 

Patrick Dupree, the 2010 Ernie’s Discount Tools Modified champion, will be challenged by 2009 Airborne Modified champion Martin Roy of Napierville, QC, Leon Gonyo, Don Scarborough, Greg Atkins, Apple Bowl 100 winner Todd Stone of Middlebury, VT, Bryant Trim, Mike Reyell, and 2010 Rookie of the Year Max Viens of St. Cesaire, QC.

 

Econo Lodge and the Valcour Imaging Group present the season’s first feature event for the J&S Steel Sportsmen, Versatile Trailer Sales Renegades, Keeseville NAPA Mini Modifieds and Busch Bombers. Sportsman Robin Wood of Plattsburgh and Renegade Kevin Boutin of Swanton, VT, will begin defense of their 2010 track championships.

 

The first 1,000 race fans through the gate on opening night will receive a free seat cushion courtesy of Econo Lodge, Valcour Imaging Group and other Airborne sponsors.

 

Gates open Saturday, May 7 at 3 p.m. Adult admission is $15. Kids 12 and under - admitted free.  Qualifying heats begin at 5 p.m. Airborne season passes are available. Mulkern, Sommerville Ready To Join Forces In 2011

 

FALMOUTH, Maine – They take two different approaches to their racing, but in the end they have a common goal. Mulkern Racing's drivers just want to win.

 

“Obviously, in my mind I want to win the championship,” said the latest addition to the Mulkern Racing lineup, Canadian driver Lonnie Sommerville. “But I'm not going to finish sixth when I could have won the race because I'm worrying just about points. If you win races, points will take care of themselves.

 

“But at the same time, you have to be smart about it – but that's what makes good race car drivers.”

 

Sommerville, from St. John, New Brunswick, will run the entire 2011 PASS North Series season in the Mulkern Racing No. 48 A.E. McKay Builders Chevrolet – marking his first full-time foray into PASS North competition after several seasons of part-time efforts coupled with a full-time run at the CARQUEST Tour north of the border.

 

The team finished second in the final PASS North standings last season with Ben Rowe behind the wheel of the No. 48. This season, they've brough Sommerville into the mix and added crew chief Gary Crooks of Crooks Racing in Mooresville, N.C.

 

“When we had the open ride (last fall), we were talking with Gary about working withus even before we were talking to Lonnie,” said Scott Mulkern, team owner and driver of the No. 84 Community Pharmacies/Southern Maine Motors Chevrolet. “Gary has a lot of confidence in Lonnie. Obviously, I've seen him race, and as far as the Canadian drivers, he's one of the top dogs. He's in that league – Scott Fraser, Patrick Laperle, those guys – and I'd put Lonnie right there.”

 

Despite competing right down until the final event of the 2010 season for the PASS championship, Mulkern said that the team won't base success this season around the title hunt.

 

“Lonnie and Gary – the whole team – I know they do want to win it,” Mulkern said. “That's what they're shooting for, and more power to them. But as far as any pressure from me to win the championship, that's not going to come from me. They're racers, and that's what it's about to a lot of them, I know that. But for me, I just want to show up every week and be right there trying to win.

 

“If you look at my style and the way I sometimes shoot myself in the foot (in the race car), I don't care about that championship stuff. Not at all. That's just the way I am. But we also have seen what Lonnie can do. We know what he can do. If he's got a good car, and things are going his way, he can win any race.”

 

Sommerville said the opportunity to drive for Mulkern Racing, and no longer have to maintain his own equipment, made it the right time to make the jump to PASS.

 

“This is the next level, the next step in my career,” Sommerville said. “There are racing goals you want to accomplish in life, and the the northeast, the PASS Tour has the best teams and best drivers onit. Aside from winning a CARQUEST championship, I've done everything I've wanted to do so far. This is where I wanted to take my career.”

 

And Sommerville believes that the pieces are in place to accomplish both of the team's goals – winning races and winning the PASS North Series title in 2011.

 

“The team they've put together, as far as I'm concerned, is as good or better than any as we're going to run against,” he said. “I don't feel a lot of pressure, but having been given this opportnity, I'm confident I can go and beat (five-time PASS champion) Johnny Clark and those guys. Maybe not every week, but as much as they're going to beat us – and that's really exciting.”

Joey Doiron aims to collect his first career PASS North Series win when the series opens the 2011 season with the PASS 150 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, on Saturday, April 30. Doiron won the 2010 Rookie of the Year award in the series, a march he started with a career-best finish of fourth in this very race. Doiron started his racing career at Beech Ridge and considers it his home track. Doiron is coming off a DNF at “The Race” at North Wilkesboro Motor Speedway earlier this month after a blown tire ended his day prematurely.

JOEY DOIRON, Driver of the No. 73 JBJ Machine/Dale Shaw Race Cars Chevrolet, On his chances at Beech Ridge this weekend: “It's Beech Ridge, so I'm always gald to go there. Every time we've been there with PASS, we feel like we've been a winning car through practice and even for most of the race. Something always seems to happen to us.

 

“Hopefully, the luck has to turn around after (The Race at North Wilkesboro). To turn it around with a win would be awesome, or even a Top-5 finish. I'd be more than happy to start the season the way I did last year.”

 

On the racing at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway: “You just can't abuse your stuff too early. I really think the key the last couple of years has been whoever can ride around and stay out of trouble and then be able to paint the (inside) line in the last 50 laps of the race. It doesn't matter if you're a half-second faster than everybody else, if you can't pass on the bottom at the end when everybody starts sliding up to the top of the track, you're not going to be very good.

 

“The track is its own animal. A lot of people consider it like Oxford, but I always think we have a chance to win at Beech Ridge, and at Oxford, usually I can't get out of my own way. So I don't know what it is there.”

 

On his goals for his sophomore season: “I definitely think we can win a race this year. We just need some luck. We put ourselves in position to do it a couple of times last year it seemed, but we just couldn't seem to catch a break when we needed it.

 

“If we can get a win, we can build on that. Hopefully, then we'll pick up another one after that. I think if we can run competitively at the tracks where we think we can, the points will take care of themselves.”

 

 

UP NEXT

 

The PASS North Series heads to the second race of the season on the smallest track, the PASS 150 at the quarter-mile Star Speedway in Epping, N.H., on Saturday, May 14... Joey Doiron has never competed in a Super Late Model at Star Speedway, but he post a Top-10 finish with a 9th-place run at the high-banked quarter-mile of White Mountain Motorsports Park last season.

KnN East PR - Blue Ox 100 Up Next For KnN East

First Stand-Alone Race In Series History at RIR

Up next for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East is the Blue Ox 100 at famed Richmond (Va.) International Raceway on Thursday, April 28.

The first two races of the 2011 season have produced two different winners, and there will be plenty of candidates to make it three-for-three when the series heads to 'America's Premier Short Track' this week.

Following strong performances in each of the first two outings this year, the three-car contingent of X Team Racing looks primed to break through sooner rather than later. Coleman Pressley may have a leg up on the field with three previous starts in NASCAR Nationwide Series action at Richmond, highlighted by a best finish of 18th in the April event last year. In his first two starts in the K&N Pro Series East with X Team, the son of longtime NASCAR driver Robert Pressley has finishes of second and fourth.

 

 

Pressley's teammates Matt DiBenedetto and Alex Bowman have been impressive in the season's first two outings as well. DiBenedetto was fifth in the opener at Greenville (S.C.) Pickens Speedway and was the runner-up last time out at South Boston (Va.) Speedway while the rookie of the group, Bowman, finished third and eighth, respectively.

The X Team contingent will undoubtedly have competition from fellow Toyotas driven by Brett Moffitt and Max Gresham. Moffitt, with the two-time defending champion No. 00 Michael Waltrip Racing team, has been dominant so far this year as he led flag-to-flag at Greenville Pickens and was cruising toward a second-straight win at South Boston, but was wrecked by a spun lap-down car. Gresham, meanwhile, recovered from a late-race spin in the opener to finish a split-second behind DiBenedetto last week at South Boston. Gresham piloted his Joe Gibbs Racing No. 18 Camry to a win in last year's race at Iowa Speedway, a track that was built in Richmond's likeness.

While he has yet to record a podium finish in 2011, Darrell Wallace Jr. also figures to be a threat to take the checkered flag at Richmond. Wallace has recorded sixth-place finishes in each of the season's first two races for Revolution Racing, and he'll have an advantage on many of his fellow competitors as he's participating in the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown and is allowed to test and practice in advance on the .75-mile circuit.

With a high level of interest in the event, the Blue Ox 100 could very well attract the largest entry list of the 2011 season. There is also a historical angle to it, as this will be the first stand-alone race at Richmond in the series' 25 seasons of competition. The K&N Pro Series East participated in five races in combination with the Nationwide Series at Richmond from 1988-92.

 

Race Notes

Peña a Surprise Points Leader ... After finishing 12th in the final 2010 standings, Sergio Peña may not have entered the current campaign with the expectation of contending for a title, but he's in just that position, albeit after only two races. Peña, from Winchester, Va., crossed the line seventh in the season-opener at Greenville Pickens on April 2, then registered his first career win last time out at South Boston on April 17. He heads to Richmond with a one-tally advantage on Pressley.

Pastrana, Blaney to Attempt Debuts ... A pair of notable up-and-coming stock car drivers hope to make their K&N Pro Series East debut in the Blue Ox 100. Action sports star Travis Pastrana is entered in the No. 99 Toyota for Michael Waltrip Racing while Ryan Blaney, son of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Dave Blaney, also hopes to make his first start in the family-owned No. 10. Pastrana finished sixth in January's NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown and was involved in an accident three laps shy of the finish in the K&N Pro Series West opener at Phoenix International Raceway.

Showdown Winner Headed to RIR ... The reigning champion of the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown, Jason Bowles will attempt to make his first K&N Pro Series East start of 2011 at Richmond. The 2009 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West champion, Bowles has made spot starts across five different NASCAR national and regional touring series the past two seasons. His only previous K&N Pro Series East start was the 2010 opener at Greenville Pickens.

Busy Weekend for Pursley, Ranger ... A pair of K&N Pro Series drivers will attempt to compete in both the East and West events this week. Current K&N Pro Series West points leader Greg Pursley will attempt to make his K&N Pro Series East debut at Richmond while two-time NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Champion Andrew Ranger hopes to make his East season debut after he started eight races in the series a year ago. They'll both then fly to Utah to compete in the K&N Pro Series West race at Miller Motorsports Park on Saturday. Pursley is also slated to compete in the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown in Richmond before departing Friday morning.

Sellers' Return ... Former K&N Pro Series East competitor Peyton Sellers will attempt to make his first start in the series since he won the 2008 season finale at Stafford (Conn.) Motor Speedway. Sellers, from Danville, Va., registered 16 top 10s in 29 East starts from 2006-08.

School Visit ... On Friday, April 16, Wallace and Revolution Racing teammate Michael Cherry visited with automotive program students at Hermitage Technical Center and Highland Springs Technical Center in the greater Richmond area. The drivers shared their background in racing and education, and talked about the many facets of the racing industry.

Tune-In Reminders ... The Blue Ox 100 will be broadcast live on NASCARHomeTracks.com via Speed 51 Radio ... The season-opening Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 150 from Greenville Pickens will also air on SPEED on Thursday, April 28 at 6 p.m.

 

Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown

The fourth edition of the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown will share the racing card at Richmond International Raceway on Thursday with the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East. One of the premier charity racing events in the nation, the Showdown benefits the Denny Hamlin Foundation and proceeds from the race will help raise awareness and funding for the specific needs of individuals afflicted with Cystic Fibrosis as well as other programs that support chronically ill children and underprivileged youth.

The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will have a significant presence in the event. Those who will attempt to pull double-duty that day include: Clay Campbell, Max Gresham, Brandon McReynolds, Travis Pastrana, Greg Pursley, Peyton Sellers and Darrell Wallace Jr. The entry list also includes former K&N Pro Series East drivers Trevor Bayne, Joey Logano and Curtis Markham.

The Hamlin Showdown is a sanctioned NASCAR Whelen All-American Series special event.

 

25 For 25 

The 2011 season is the 25th in series history. From its days as the Busch North Series, to the present-day NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, there are countless moments that have come to define the series. Each race week we will take a look back at those moments and figures that have defined the series. 

Combo Races ... From 1987-200, the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East - then known as the Busch North Series - competed in a total of 72 races in combination with the NASCAR Nationwide Series - then known as the Busch Series - at tracks ranging from superspeedways like Daytona International Raceway to road courses like Watkins Glen International. In these races, East drivers competed alongside their Nationwide counterparts for overall position and purse in the race, but for points in respect to their fellow East drivers. During these seasons, an East driver was allowed to count his two best combo race finishes toward his point total for the East championship standings.
Site of this week's Blue Ox 100, Richmond International Raceway played host to five such combo races from 1988-92. Among the K&N Pro Series East contingent that participated in those races, Joe Bessey registered the best finish, 10th, in 1992. Current two-time defending K&N Pro Series East champion car owner Michael Waltrip took the checkered flag for the Nationwide Series in the 1990 race.

Last Time Out: South Boston 150

The second race of the 2011 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East season started out like the first; with a postponement due to rain.

Once the sun came out in South Boston, Va., however, the K&N Pro Series East was able to put on a show at South Boston Speedway that saw Revolution Racing's Sergio Peña earn his first career win.

The race was dominated through the first half by one of Peña's teammates - Darrell Wallace Jr. - who earned his first career pole earlier in the day and led the first 73 laps. Brett Moffitt then went door-to-door with Wallace for a couple of circuits before he wrestled the lead away.

Moffitt appeared to be in position to cruise to a third-straight series victory with a full three-second lead on the rest of the field, but Michael Cherry's spun car was in the middle of the groove coming out of Turn 4 on Lap 141 and Moffitt - with no escape route - T-boned him. Peña then inherited the lead and fended off Matt DiBenedetto and Max Gresham for the win.

 

Up Next: East-West Challenge at Iowa

The fifth edition of the K&N Pro Series East-West Challenge at Iowa Speedway is slated for Saturday, May 21 with the Goodyear Tire Dealers of Iowa 175 presented by Tompkins Industries.

It will be a natural transition for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East to go from Richmond International Raceway to Iowa Speedway for the next event, as the later was patterned after the former by the track's designer and owner, Rusty Wallace.

While the set-up of the event doesn't change this year, there are a few differences between the 2011 race and the first four runnings at the Newton, Iowa oval. This year the K&N Pro Series race will be held on Saturday instead of Sunday, and the two development series will be joined at the .875-mile track by the NASCAR Nationwide Series, which will now race on Sunday. Additionally, the K&N Pro Series race has been shortened from 200 to 175 laps.

The first four K&N Pro Series East-West races have produced a different winner, and each time the victor piloted a car representing the East. Three of the four winners - Joey Logano, Kyle Busch and Max Gresham - took the checkered flag in Joe Gibbs Racing cars.

Autodrome Drummond race fans, be patient! Only 20 days left before we can hear the engines roaring around the speedway. On May 14th, we will have a good taste for the next season; one of the marquee events is already attracting a lot of attention.

 

Lors du Racemania 6, Brett Hearn avait démontré tout son talent, lors de l’épreuve de 160 tours, il était parti 20e sur la grille de départ et avait dépassé les voitures une à une pour ainsi remporté la somme de $10,000 remis au vainqueur. Un impressionnant total de 45 modifiés comprenant plusieurs pilotes de l’extérieur, étaient présents. Dale Planck et Pete Bicknell, avait complété le podium suivi de Yan Bussière et David Hébert.

La 7e édition du Racemania comptera sur 2 soirées consécutives d’évènements. La série MrDIRTcar 358-modifié sera la catégorie vedette lors du vendredi 9 septembre avec une finale de 75 tours.  La classe pro-stock aura également une importe manche de la série MrDIRTcar avec 50 tours à compléter. Les sportsmans et STR seront également en action alors qu’ils auront des épreuves de qualifications en vue pour les finales de samedi.

Le lendemain, les gros-blocs seront présents à Drummondville dans le cadre de la série Super DIRTcar. Au menu, une finale excitante de 100 tours comprenant les grandes vedettes américaines contre nos pilotes locaux qui font toujours bonne figure dans ce type de course. Les sportsmans auront une épreuve de 50 tours et les STR auront également leur finale. 

En plus de leur visite lors du Racemania en fin de saison, les gros-blocs auront déjà été en compétition plus tôt dans l’été sur le circuit drummondvillois, avec une finale de 100 tours qui sera présenté le lundi 18 juillet dans le cadre de leur visite annuelle au Québec avec également une épreuve le lendemain à l’Autodrome Granby.

Le Racemania 7 et la visite des gros-blocs le 18 juillet, trois évènements à ajouter à votre calendrier de course pour la saison 2011 !

Brett Hearn showed his great talent and experience last year during Racemania 6, during the 160-lap event, Hearn started 20th on the grid and passed other drivers to finish on top and claimed the $10,000 for the win. A total of 45 modifieds including several invaders had showed up in Drummond. Dale Planck and Pete Bicknell completed the podium followed by locals Yan Bussière and David Hébert.

Two consecutive nights are planned for the 7th edition of Racemania. The MrDIRTcar 358-Modified Series will have the spotlight on Friday, September 9th with a 75-lap feature. The Pro-Stock category will also have an MrDIRTcar race with 50 laps to complete. The Sportsmans and STR will also see some action has the qualification rounds will determine the starting fields for Saturday night finale.

On the following night, the big blocks will be at the track for a Super DIRTcar Series event. On the schedule, a 100-lap race with the great American stars against our local heroes that always delivers great results during these types of races. The Sportsman will have a 50-lap feature with the STR having their feature race.

The Super DIRTcar Series has 2 dates for Drummond in 2011, along with the Racemania at the end of the year; the tour will make a stop on Monday, July 18 for their annual visit in Quebec with a stop schedule at Autodrome Granby the following night.
