Buescher Wins Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA Fall Classic at Salem; McCumbee Finishes Ninth to Clinch Bill France Four Crown

For Immediate Release:

Saturday, September 17, 2011

(SALEM, Ind.) - After zero wins in the first 15 races of the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season, Chris Buescher has doubled his career victory total in just the last 13 days.

Buescher (No. 17 Jasper Engines & Transmissions/Reliance Tool/David Ragan Ford Ford) led 104 of 200 laps, including the last 37, to win the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA Fall Classic presented by Federated Car Care at Salem Speedway. The victory was the fourth in Buescher's career, and his second straight in ARCA Racing Series competition. He also drove to victory on September 5 in DuQuoin, Ill.

Currently second in points, the Roulo Brothers Racing driver is just the second person with multiple ARCA victories this season, following points leader Ty Dillon's seven in the first 17 races.

"It's such a great feeling here at Salem," Buescher said. "We've had good runs here and suffered here, but it's just amazing for all these fans. This turned out absolutely incredible and it always is. I hope we put on a show for everybody and I hope they enjoyed it.

"Thanks to all these guys, the Roulo Brothers, and Jasper for coming on board here with David Ragan and Roush. There are so many people that have helped us get to this point. Two in a row: that's a first for me in this series. It's a ball."

Buescher had also won twice at Toledo Speedway in his career, but the Salem win was meaningful to him, as it came at the track where he made his first ARCA Racing Series start in 2009. Buescher then started ninth and finished fourth at the high-banked, 0.555-mile oval.

"This is where I made my first start, and now I finally get back and get a win here," he said.

Will Kimmel of Sellersburg, Ind. finished a career-high second after leading 79 laps at his home track. Kimmel (No. 68 Clarksville Schwinn & Cyclery/Jones Group International Ford) ended the night just ahead of Tim George Jr. (No. 31 Applebee's/Potomac Family Dining Group Chevrolet).

Clint King (No. 25 Warehouse Design Inc. Chevrolet) started the race as the man to beat, having driven his Venturini Motorsports entry to the Menards Pole Award presented by Ansell for the second time in his two starts. The 16-year-old also started first before finishing third in his series debut in Oregon, Wis. on August 26, his birthday.

Right after the green flag, though, Buescher served notice that his performance in leading practice was something he could repeat in race conditions. He charged ahead of King at the start, moving out to a 0.462-second lead after one lap. Chad Hackenbracht (No. 58 Tastee Apple Chevrolet) did the same from the fourth starting position, advancing to third over King's Venturini Motorsports teammate, Max Gresham (No. 55 Live Oak Plantation/World Crown 300 Chevrolet).

The lead pack began to encounter traffic just four laps into the race, but all escaped and drove by without harm. On Lap 7, though, Hackenbracht made slight contact with King driving off of the second turn, cutting King's left rear tire and sending him into a spin in Turn 3. Saddled with heavy damage, the pole winner's night was over before it began.

Hackenbracht moved into second, followed by Gresham, Tom Hessert (No. 52 Federated Auto Parts Chevrolet), and Grant Enfinger (No. 36 Hoosier Tire Midwest/RaceTires.com Dodge). The green flag flew again at Lap 12, and Buescher coasted again. He led by 0.813 second at Lap 18, and then moved inside a lapped car while the three drivers behind him got bunched up the next time around. The increased traffic in his wake added 0.3 second to his margin, and he continued to maintain a lead of more than a second through the first 25 laps.

Meanwhile, Dillon experienced an uncharacteristic night in traffic. After qualifying 14th, the points leader moved to 10th by Lap 20, but still faced a deficit of over four seconds to Buescher's lead.

Back at the front, Hackenbracht gained on Buescher over Laps 28 and 29, but Buescher moved back to his previous margin by Lap 32. The top five next encountered a pack including Milka Duno, Brett Hudson, and Matt DiBenedetto, passing them all by Lap 40. The lapped trio separated the top five from the sixth through 10th cars, creating a sizable gap between identical five-car packs.

Gresham, though, suffered a cut tire in the second turn on Lap 42; he was forced to drive to pit road. The top four continued on, with Buescher still leading the way by just under a second.

Buescher led Hackenbracht, Hessert, Enfinger, and Chad McCumbee (No. 1 ModSpace Ford) at Lap 50, having held a tight grasp on the point for the full first quarter of the race. Will Kimmel made his way to the top five the lap after that, though, passing McCumbee for position. Soon after, Jared Marks (No. 12 Dodge Motorsports/Mad Croc Dodge) drove by McCumbee for sixth.

Behind them, Dillon had improved to ninth, but faced heavy challenges from a father and son duo: Frank Kimmel (No. 44 Ansell/Menards Ford) and Frank Kimmel II (No. 77 Mars Trucking/Jim French Builder Ford). The Kimmels weren't the only ones chasing Dillon, though.

As Buescher passed Darrell Basham's lapped car to start Lap 65, he had Dillon in his sight and was ready to put the points leader one lap down. Just then, though, Hackenbracht cut a tire from second place to bring out a caution flag. Hessert followed Hackenbracht to pit road; suddenly, Buescher's two main pursuers were out of the mix and the back of the lead lap bunched up to the front.

Frank Kimmel II stayed out when the leaders pitted to close Lap 67, taking the Lap 68 lead over cousin Will Kimmel, who had won the race off of pit road. Enfinger, Buescher, and George filled out the top five.

The green flag flew at Lap 71, with Will Kimmel passing his cousin immediately. Will Kimmel began to show just how valuable his Salem Speedway experience had been, driving away from Frank II as Enfinger and Buescher followed him in the top three. Those three ran tightly as the green flag run wore on, slightly dropping George and McCumbee off the pace.

The middle of the race belonged to Will Kimmel. He led through a caution brought about by a multi-car incident at Lap 87, and stayed up front through Lap 100, the race's halfway point. Meanwhile, Frank Kimmel had advanced to third, trailing Buescher. Will Kimmel was the first to lap Dillon by Lap 111, and Buescher and Frank Kimmel followed him the next time around. Max Gresham's lapped car separated Will Kimmel from Buescher and his uncle, staking him out to a 1.47-second lead at Lap 115. Frank Kimmel passed Buescher for second on Lap 119, and that competition helped Will Kimmel; his lead increased to 2.112 seconds on that lap.

Will Kimmel lapped Dillon again on Lap 125, with his uncle following closely behind. The green flag run continued. From a 2.486-second advantage at Lap 131, Will Kimmel increased his lead over his uncle to 2.983 seconds in three laps.

Racing in the family's home state, the third Kimmel rushed to join the family fun at the front. Frank Kimmel II passed into third at Lap 138, and began a run in which the top of the scoreboard read Kimmel-Kimmel-Kimmel. Will Kimmel's lead extended to 4.53 seconds in that span, but George broke the string by passing Frank II for third on Lap 147 - just as Levi Youster spun to bring out another caution flag.

Will Kimmel led the lead lap drivers - by this time, just the other Kimmels, George, Buescher, and Hackenbracht - to pit road to close Lap 150, and Frankie Kimmel used a two-tire stop to take the first spot at the pit exit along the backstretch. George, Will Kimmel, Frank Kimmel, Buescher, and Hackenbracht followed in that order.

Frank Kimmel II got away clean at the Lap 154 green flag, using Hessert's lapped car as a pick between him and the other five contenders. Buescher passed for third quickly and aimed to the outside to take second from George on Lap 160, but could not complete that pass. His battle with George allowed Will Kimmel to catch up even as Hackenbracht and Frank Kimmel had fallen from the lead pack, creating a tight four-car line separated by only a half-second.

Buescher passed George for second on Lap 163, all while moving to within 0.081 second of Frank Kimmel II's lead. Buescher made the last pass he would need on Lap 164, proving that his car had been the one to beat all along. One lap later, his lead was more than one second; he doubled that advantage in just two more trips around the 0.555-mile bullring.

Several cautions slowed the final quarter of the race, as Hackenbracht dropped fluid on the track and George made contact with Kimmel II. Buescher weathered every caution period and every restart, setting himself up for a clean run ahead of Will Kimmel, George, Marks, Frank Kimmel, and DiBenedetto on the final green flag at Lap 194.

Buescher led by 0.625 second at Lap 195, 0.841 seconds with two laps to go, and finished 1.186 seconds ahead of Will Kimmel to drive to victory for the second straight race.

George finished third, despite front end damage from his late contact with Frank Kimmel II.

Marks, of Napoleon, Ohio, scored a career high by driving home fourth, and nine-time Salem winner Frank Kimmel ended the evening in fifth place.

DiBenedetto, Frank Kimmel II, Dillon, McCumbee, and Gresham filled out the top 10. Dillon had been three laps down, but earned the Aaron's Lucky Dog late in the race to finish just two laps off the pace while running speeds similar to the leaders. He maintained his points lead over Buescher with two races to go.

McCumbee's top-10 finish gave him the Bill France Four Crown Award, an honor bestowed upon the driver who compiles the best average finish on four selected tracks of different categories throughout the season. The 2011 Four Crown tracks were New Jersey Motorsports Park (road course), Michigan International Speedway, the Illinois State Fairgrounds (dirt oval), and Salem (short track). McCumbee finished third, eighth, first, and ninth in those events, respectively.

Six caution flags slowed the race for 39 laps. The event finished in one hour, 30 minutes, and three seconds, at an average speed of 73.951 mph.

Kansas Speedway is the next stop for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, as the October 7 Kansas Lottery 98.9 will decide the winner of the Hoosier Tire Superspeedway Challenge. Ty Dillon and Chris Buescher are currently tied for the lead in the competition which scores drivers by performance in seven races on six speedways - Daytona, Talladega, Chicagoland, Pocono, Michigan, Pocono, and Kansas - throughout 2011. Eventual series champion Patrick Sheltra won the Challenge last season.

Practice on Kansas Speedway's 1.5-mile oval will begin at 9 a.m. Central (10 Eastern) on October 7; the session will last for two hours and 15 minutes. Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell will start at 5:35 p.m. Central, and the race will begin at 7:30 p.m. Central. SPEED will air live television coverage of the race, and ARCARacing.com will carry live timing and scoring coverage of the day's entire schedule.

The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards features 19 events at 16 tracks on its 2011 schedule. The series has crowned an ARCA national champion each year since its inaugural season in 1953, and has toured over 200 race tracks in 28 states since its inception. The series tests the abilities of drivers and race teams over the most diverse schedule of stock car racing events in the world, annually visiting tracks ranging from 0.4 mile to 2.66 miles in length, on both paved and dirt surfaces as well as a left- and right-turn road course.

Founded by John Marcum in 1953 in Toledo, Ohio, the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) is recognized among the leading sanctioning bodies in the country. Closing in on completing its sixth decade after hundreds of thousands of miles of racing, ARCA administers over 100 race events each season in two professional touring series and local weekly events.

ARCA Racing Series Travels to Salem Speedway for 90th Time

For Immediate Release:

Thursday, September 15, 2011

(SALEM, Ind.) - No race track in the 59-year history of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards has hosted as many as 90 events. Salem Speedway, which has hosted ARCA since 1955, will become the first on Saturday evening.

The Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA Fall Classic is scheduled as the 17th of 19 in the ARCA Racing Series this season, and is important to teams and drivers for several reasons. First, the race comes just four weeks before ARCA's season finale, meaning Ty Dillon (No. 41 Hemelgarn/CIPT Chevrolet) will be aiming to extend his championship advantage and numerous drivers will be fighting for position within the top 10.

Second, the event will be the final leg in the Bill France Four Crown, a season-within-a-season championship that tests drivers on a speedway, a short track, a dirt track, and a road course. Chad McCumbee (No. 1 ModSpace Ford) and Andy Belmont Racing lead Dillon and Frank Kimmel (No. 44 Ansell/Menards Ford) for the prestigious $3000 prize.

Should McCumbee finish 10th or higher, he will win the Bill France Four Crown - named for the late founder of NASCAR, a friend of ARCA, and a stock car pioneer - regardless of any other driver's finish. Past winners of the Four Crown Award include Kimmel, Tim Steele, and Davey Allison.

McCumbee finished ninth in May, which would be enough to give him the award Saturday, but even a minor slip-up could prove harmful. Dillon won the Menards Pole Award presented by Ansell and finished second at Salem in May, and Kimmel has nine wins at the track - including the most recent of his 74 career victories, which came on September 13, 2008.

The Four Crown Award aside, Salem's high banks and tight 0.555-mile configuration will prove a challenge to each of the 35 drivers who start Saturday. Eight caution flags slowed the field in May's 206-lap race, and rare is the Salem winner who drives to Victory Lane without at least slight damage.

"There's a lot of character to Salem Speedway," said McCumbee. "It presents quite a few challenges, you know. You really do race the race track, just like you would at Darlington or Rockingham years ago. It's tough to be there at the end."

Four drivers on the entry list have 15 or more starts at Salem, including Kimmel (35), Darrell Basham (29), Brad Smith (20), and Ron Cox (15). Among Kimmel's starts are 24 top-fives and 29 top-10s.

In addition to Frank Kimmel, son Frank Kimmel II (No. 77 Mars Trucking/Jim French Builders/Clarksville Schwinn/Newton's Grocery/Green Oak Farms Ford) and nephew Will Kimmel (No. 68 Clarksville Schwinn & Cyclery Ford) will also start Saturday's race. The event will be the first in which the three Kimmels all race in contending efforts.

Like the Kimmels, whose Indiana backgrounds make Salem their home track, Owensboro, Ky. native Brett Hudson (No. 94 Hudson Performance Drivelines Chevrolet) is skilled and experienced when close to home. Among Hudson's nine Salem starts in the ARCA Racing Series are five top-10s.

Venturini Motorsports won most recently at Salem, as Brennan Poole edged Dillon and Kimmel in his first series start. Poole is not entered in the Fall Classic, and neither are any of the four winners in the two years before his triumph - meaning that unless Kimmel scores his record 10th Salem win, one driver will celebrate a first Salem win Saturday.

Two certain contenders are Chris Buescher (No. 17 Reliance Tool/David Ragan Ford Ford) and Grant Enfinger (No. 36 Hoosier Tire Midwest/RaceTires.com Dodge). Buescher, who is third in points, scored his first win of 2011 last week at DuQuoin, Ill. Enfinger, who is fourth, will search for his first ARCA win.

On-track activity begins with a 90-minute practice at 1:05 p.m. Saturday, and continues with Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell at 4 p.m.

The 200-lap, 111-mile Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200 begins at 7:15 p.m. Saturday. Live timing and scoring of all events and live audio coverage of the race will be presented by ARCA Nation at ARCARacing.com.

The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards has crowned an ARCA national champion each year since its inaugural season in 1953, and has toured over 200 race tracks in 28 states since its inception. The series tests the abilities of drivers and race teams over the most diverse schedule of stock car racing events in the world, annually visiting tracks ranging from 0.4 mile to 2.66 miles in length, on both paved and dirt surfaces as well as a left- and right-turn road course.

Jared Marks; Tony Marks Racing Ready To Rock At Salem Speedway

SALEM, Indiana (September 14, 2011) - - Jared Marks has impressed in the handful of races that he has competed in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards in 2011. From Toledo Speedway to Winchester Speedway and the series’ long-awaited return to Lucas Oil Raceway, Marks will now take on his greatest short track challenge when his Tony Marks Racing (TMR) team tackles Saturday night’s Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA Fall Classic by Federated Car Care at Salem (Ind.) Speedway.

Marks is focused and determined to capture his first top-10 finish of the season Saturday night behind the wheel of the No. 12 Mad Croc Energy / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger for the 17th race of the season. Marks, the son of car owner Tony Marks will make his long-awaited inaugural ARCA debut at the intimidating half-mile oval.

The team participated in the spring event, the third race on the 2011 calendar with Sorel, Quebec’s Maryeve Dufault at the controls. After starting 19th, Dufault finished 13th. From Salem, the team has showed an impressive program on the smaller tracks. To give the team that extra credibility and focus, the team recently took the Napoleon, Ohio native to the Southern Indiana track for a private test session.

“I think the test went pretty good,” said Marks, a veteran Late Model driver. “It’s a tough track. I was told by everyone it’s intimidating at first and that’s not far from the truth. We worked on setup for most of the day. The biggest challenge we’ll have when we go back will be is that the race will be run under the lights, so a lot of aspects could change between now and then.”

The 17-year old will make his sixth career ARCA Racing Series start on Saturday night and looks to improve on his recent finish at Madison International Speedway where he tackled ARCA’s return to the Wisconsin short track after nearly 40 years to a lead-lap 12th place finish, his fourth top-13 finish of 2011.

“Other than Lucas Oil Raceway, we’ve run good this year,” he offered. “I really think if we would not have been shoved into the wreck on that restart (At Lucas Oil Raceway), we would have been in good shape. But, that was then and this is now. We need to turn that good into great and I think a top-10 finish on Saturday night would be a step in the right direction.”

He added, “I witnessed the action at Salem for myself in the spring and it looked intense. There’s little to no room for error, which means it’s extremely important for us to qualify our No. 12 Mad Croc Energy / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger as close to the front as possible. From there, we can focus on race strategy and hope we can keep the fenders on and produce the team’s third top-10 finish of 2011.”

Recently making the move to “Race City USA” otherwise known as Mooresville, North Carolina this summer to be within the quarters of his father’s race team, Marks says the new surroundings have paid off in more ways than one.

“I enjoy going to the shop every day,” he said. “I get along great with the guys. We work hard but we still get the job done. On the other side, it’s gratifying to really see my dad’s dream come true. I know he has a long term interest in the industry and I’m happy to be just a small fraction of it.

Working with Ryan (Chism, crew chief) on a daily basis has strengthened our relationship both on and off the track. He’s smart and he now knows what I want in the racecar. Saturday night’s race is just another race for us to build upon for 2012.”

For Ohio entrepreneur and car owner Tony Marks, seeing his team grow this season has been the goal all along – but he is also isn’t shy to step up and face where his organization can enhance their efforts.

“We knew heading into Daytona back in February that we were going to have some road bumps,” the former racer explained. “I’m pleased with the direction our team is heading right now – but I know there is more to be done to make us even better. We’re going to focus on these next three races and run hard and fight for some strong finishes. Then we’ll take the off-season and regroup and prepare for a sturdy 2012. I have the up most faith that Jared is going to give nothing less than 100 percent behind the wheel on Saturday night. If we play it smart, we should go home with a good finish.”

The Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA Fall Classic by Federated Car Care (200 laps / 111 miles) is the 17th of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The 87th ARCA event held at Salem (Ind.) Speedway is a one-day show. Practice begins Saturday, September 17 with an hour and a half practice session planned from 1:05 p.m. - 2:35 p.m. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is slated to begin at 4:00 p.m. The field will take the green flag later in the evening at approximately 7:15 p.m. The event will not be televised but race coverage including live timing and scoring throughout the 1,329th race for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards since it was formed in 1953 will be available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com presented by ARCANation.com. All times are local.

43 TEAMS ANNOUNCED FOR 3RD ANNUAL ACT INVITATIONAL

For Immediate Release                                           ACT – 091411-55

Waterbury, VT –The American Canadian Tour (ACT) has finalized the invitations for the forty-three (43) teams who will compete in the 3rd annual ACT Invitational at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) to be held Saturday, September 24, 2011.

The Invitational is part of a spectacular Saturday race program. The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will join the ACT Late Model teams in the biggest triple header event of the year.

The 2011 edition of the eighty thousand dollar ($80,000) 50-mile Invitational will feature the strongest field of ACT competitors from throughout New England, New York, Ontario and Quebec that have appeared at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway during the three year ACT partnership beginning in 2009.

There have been three winners in three events.

Recently crowned 2011 ACT Champion Brian Hoar from Williston, VT is the most recent winner, his first ever at NHMS when he won the ACT Invitational in August. Hoar had many podium finishes during his days with the former NASCAR Busch East division and also set the track pole position record for that division. “Winning the ACT All Star Challenge at my favorite track (NHMS) was fulfillment of a racing goal. Getting the ACT title locked in last weekend means the RPM team can really just enjoy the weekend at New Hampshire. Bring it on (Invitational),” said Hoar.

Eddie MacDonald from Rowley MA is a perennial favorite to win at NHMS. He has once again entered. Crew chief Rollie Lachance will have his hands full as MacDonald will also compete in the NASCAR K&N East Series event on Friday at NHMS. When asked about the Invitational handicap system (teams are assigned various bags to draw chips from, and ACT officials usually put the teams with more experience at NHMS in the last third of the starting grid)- “It is a lot of fun. I guess I like the challenge of starting out back, but without the benefit of some yellows it is getting tougher each year to get to the front. I hope to redeem our August effort when I thought Brian (Hoar) and I were going to go at it for the win. That was before my coil burned up and ended our day early”, said the 2009 inaugural Invitational winner.

Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. (Pole) from Hudson, NH had a dominant car in 2010. Starting 27th on the grid, Pole kept his late season winning streak alive with an incredible run to the front at New Hampshire. “It will always be one of my greatest racing memories. Winning the Invitational, at the biggest race track, in my home State of New Hampshire, is about as good as it gets. Our team could sure use a lift from our disappointing season in 2011 and to repeat at this year’s race would be just as great as last year”, said Pole.

Teams representing all six New England states, New York, and the Canadian Provinces of Quebec and Ontario have all accepted invitations to the annual race.

There will be eight (8) 2011 regional Track Champions or contenders for the season-ending laurels competing in the Invitational. Representing Oxford Plains Speedway in Maine is track champion Jeff White from Winthrop, ME. Seekonk Speedway in Massachusetts will be represented by Ryan Vanasse from Warwick, RI and Guy Caron from Lempster, NH will fly the Claremont, NH Twin State Speedway colors. Other track champion invitees are Dan McHattie – Kawartha Speedway in Peterborough, Ontario, Wayne Helliwell, Jr. who recently won the Lee USA Speedway championship driving a small block Super Modified weekly, while competing full-time on the American Canadian Tour where he sits second in points. Waterford Speedbowl Late Model point leader and former champion, Bruce Thomas will represent the “Bowl”. Thomas led the early laps of the original Invitational in 2009 and finished in the top ten. Two other New Hampshire natives, Quinny Welch from Lancaster, NH representing the White Mountain Motorsport Park and Donnie Lashua, who recently claimed double championships at the Canaan Fair Speedway in the Late Model and Pro Stock divisions have accepted invitations to the biggest racing stage on the ACT schedule.

The ACT Castrol Series will send a half dozen of the best teams in the Northeast, led by current point leader Patrick Laperle, St. Denis, QC, Karl Allard driving for the Quebec City based Larue Racing team, along with fellow Quebecois Donald Theetge all have experience in the past three events at NHMS which should provide success for those flying the ‘fleur de lys’.

The full schedule of racing at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway begins on Friday, September 23, 2011 with NASCAR Sprint Cup qualifying scheduled for 3:10 followed by the K&N Pro Series East 125 lap event.

Saturday, September 24, 2011 will feature NASCAR Sprint Cup practice; a 12:45 start for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour 125 mile event; a 3:00 green flag for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series followed by the 3rd annual ACT Invitational at approximately 5:30. Tickets are now on sale for all events during the NASCAR Race for the Chase weekend to be held September 23-25, 2011 at NHMS
