Excitement Builds for the DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals at Brockville Speedway

One of the year's most anticipated motorsports experiences is just days away. The 2014 running of the DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals, newly re-branded as the 1000 Islands RV Fall Nationals – a Craig Revelle Tribute – presented by St. Lawrence Radiology and Rez X Racing, takes the green flag Friday night at Brockville Ontario Speedway.

 

Now in its 6th action-packed edition, this is the event that draws the biggest names in DIRTcar Racing to tackle the tight confines of the 3/8th mile layout on Temperance Lake Road, off highway 29 just north of Brockville. Track owner/promoter Paul Kirkland says he and the entire team at The BOS are looking forward to getting back to action after a layoff of more than a month.

 

"We ran an endurance event September 14th, but our last show with the Modified, Sportsman and street stock teams was Saturday, August 30th," explained Kirkland.  "Some of our regulars follow the season-ending Mr. DIRTcar Championship Trail dates, but most are strictly weekend warriors. No matter how often or where they race, everyone who has passed through our pit gates even once wants to add a Fall Nationals' trophy to their collection of racing hardware."

 

Paul Kirkland says that Brockville Speedway is a driver's track, where handling takes precedence over horsepower.  That opens-up the playing field and gives just about anyone a chance to upset the touring stars.  The Saturday night favourites will get the same chance of finding victory lane as the full-time professional drivers like Billy Decker, Danny Johnson and Brett Hearn.

 

"Look at the success a guy like Chris Herbison has had here over the years," offered Kirkland.  "He won the Sportsman Modified track championship in 2011 and 2012 and also claimed a Nationals win in 2011 and 2013.  Kyle Dingwall won the Sportsman crown in 2004 and was our 2012 Modified champion in 2012. Matt Billings was the top Sportsman driver in 2009 and is now a Big Block Modified Series regular. All of these guys have a legitimate chance of getting to the winner's circle this weekend."

 

For 2014, the show has been reformatted to be run over 2 nights. Friday, will see the 358 Modified Super DIRTcar Championship race, along with the Go Nuclear Late Models and a Street Stocks Invitational with a 7:00green flag. Saturday has the Big Block and Sportsman Modified Championship Trail dates, as well as the popular Vintage Mods. Racing starts at 4:00. Sunday, October 19th will be used as a rain date, as needed.

 

Fans should make their calendars for Friday and Saturday, October 17th and 18th to make sure they don't miss the 6thrunning of the 1000 Islands RV Fall Nationals – a Craig Revelle Tribute – presented by St. Lawrence Radiology and Rez X Racing at Brockville Ontario Speedway.  Check out live music by Texas Tuxedos at the MYFM Small Block Party in the Turn 4 camping area after the Friday night action, a free concert with Ambush starting at 12:30 Saturday afternoon and the Bon Fire Bash with Rudy & the Saddle Ups following Saturday night's final checkered flag.  DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals events are also brought to you in part by

Sprint Cars Return to Devil's Bowl Speedway on Saturday Following Successful Test

Hanson, Austin make first laps around new 1/3-mile dirt track

WEST HAVEN, VT – The winged warriors of the Bond Auto Parts Sprint Cars of New England (SCoNE) tour will make their official debut at Devil's Bowl Speedway on Saturday, October 18, joining the AutoSaver Ford/Springfield Buick-GMC "Vermont Freedom & Unity" event.  A successful test was completed by two teams on Wednesday, drawing rave reviews.

Lacey Hanson, a veteran of season seasons with the SCoNE series, and 16-year-old rookie Tyler Austin each turned laps in order to help gather information for their teams and competitors alike.  For Hanson, whose team is based just 10 minutes from the track in Orwell, VT, it was a productive day.

"It was great.  I was glad we got to come out and practice and see what the track is like," she said.  "I think it's going to be a great show."

Hanson and Austin agreed that the new 1/3-mile, paperclip-shaped dirt track at Devil's Bowl is a unique venue on the SCoNE schedule, and drives differently than the quarter-mile tracks at Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford, VT and Legion Speedway in Rumney, NH.

"It's got tight corners like Legion, but the longer, faster straightaways aren't something that we're really used to," Hanson said.  She felt that the track will demand a well-handling car and a strong engine, along with a finely tuned skillset from every driver.  "This track might level the playing field," she said.

Austin, of West Fairlee, VT was first on the track and was quickly up to speed.  He kissed the wall in Turn 4 in the first warm-up session, but rebounded to run many solid laps.

"It was fun, the track was smooth and fast," he said.  "I'm looking forward to Saturday."

The AutoSaver Ford/Springfield Buick-GMC "Vermont Freedom & Unity" event is packed with action and includes a 100-lap Sportsman Modified feature that will crown champions for the three-race "Battle at the Bowl" dirt track series and the season-long Northern Modified Challenge Series.  Also on tap are Renegade and Mini Stock championship finales and a special event for Bear Ridge Speedway's Sportsman Coupe division.  Vermont Lieutenant Governor Phil Scott will serve as the Grand Marshal.

General admission for the Saturday, October 18 event is $20 for adults and free for kids 12 and under.  Grandstands open at 12:00noon with hot laps at 1:00 p.m., Sportsman Modified time trials at 1:30 p.m., and green flag racing at 2:00 p.m.

"Endurance 250": Fin de saison parfaite pour J.F. Bouvrette

Gagnant de l'enduro printanier en avril dernier, Champion Québécois de la série "Nascar Sportsman Lucas Oil", et comme si ce n'était pas encore assez, Jean-François Bouvrette conclut sa saison avec une dernière victoire lors du "Endurance 250". Si pour le pilote de St-Jérome, 2014 fut rempli d'incertitude et d'émotion, sa persévérance devrait en inspirer plus d'un.

Ayant pris le départ au milieu d'une grille comptant tout près d'une centaine de voitures, le pilote de la Camaro #20 aura habilement, mais avec la prudence qu'on lui connait, remonté tout le peloton de voitures, pour rapidement s'installer à la poursuite du #66 de Maxime "Max La Menace" Pelletier qui, n'eût été de deux arrêts forcés pour remplacer des pneus en décomposition, aurait possiblement été celui qui aurait remporté les grands honneurs de la 36em édition de cette classique automnale.

Kevin Huet #05, un régulier de la série "Challenge-4 Meilleur Ramoneur", aura croisé le fil d'arrivé en deuxième position, alors que Michel Brunet #91, monte sur la troisième marche du podium. Vincent Fournier #159, ainsi que Michel Legault #93, auront quant à eux complété le "Top-5" de cette épreuve courue en un peut plus de deux heures d'action, et qui aura tout de même vu une trentaine de voitures et leurs pilotes, survivre à ces 250 tours de pur délice pour les nombreux spectateurs à avoir remplis les gradins de l'Autodrome St-Eustache en ce superbe dimanche après midi du long weekend de l'Action de grâce.

Place à quelques "Images en vrac" de ce dernier programme "Stock-Car" de l'ASE en 2014.

Des partisanes étaient fières d'afficher leurs couleurs en supportant Robert "Bob"Paquin #416. Ce dernier avait fait le chemin depuis Trois-Rivière pour participer à cette épreuve de 250 tours. Le Trifluvien aura complété tout près de 100 tours et termine en 50em position.

Intervention rapide des services de secours lors de l'un des nombreux incidents de courses. Patrick Campeau #69, est à peine sorti de sa voiture, que ces derniers sont déjà sur les lieux. Quant à Claude Pomerleau #140, originaire de St-Chrysostome, il en fut quitte pour une bonne frousse, alors que lui et son bolide terminent leurs courses en fâcheuse position.

Autre intervention rapide des services de secours, Jason Morand #159, pilote des séries Sportsman et Sport-Compacte, voit son véhicule prendre feu. Pas même le temps de prendre une photo, que son véhicule est déplacé afin de reprendre l'épreuve! À noter l'autocollant qu'un "Ptit'comique" lui avait apposé juste avant la course. Jason n'aura complété que 34 des 250 tours.

Éric Chagnon #06, un régulier des Enduros, et son jeune frère, Jimmy-Lee #160. Ces derniers étaient accompagnés d'un commerçant de la rue Ouimet à St-Jérome, Mr. Tao Han, propriétaire du "Dépanneur Chin Tok"... Non, ce n'est pas une blague... Mr. Han me l'a lui-même écrit afin qu'il n'y est pas d'erreur sur l'orthographe. Bref, le proprio du commerce songe sérieusement à devenir un commanditaire du #160 en série "Challenge-4" pour la saison 2015. À lui voir la frimousse, nul doute que Mr. Han aura apprécié à sa juste valeur l'invitation des frères Chagnon à cette fête automnale. On peut bien rire, il n'en reste pas moins qu'ils lui auront offert un traitement royal, visite des puits, présence sur la grille de départ, etc. Après tout, un "Sponsor" potentiel mérite d'être traité comme tel, et ce, sans égard à l'envergure de sa "Business". Qui sait, peut-être qu'un nouvel amateur de "Stock-Car" est né.

Si plusieurs considèrent avec un certain mépris ces épreuves d'endurance en les qualifiant de "Courses de Minounes", ne vous y trompez pas. Tous ces pilotes, même ceux d'un jour, auront dépensé temps et argent afin de préparer leurs montures, ne serait-ce qu'au niveau de la sécurité. D'autre investiront même au niveau esthétique, parlez-en à Émilien Foster #655, qui en était à sa 12em présence à ce genre de fête. Si un concours de la plus belle voiture existait, le pilote de Ste-Julie l'aurait à coup sûr remporté. Mal'heureusement pour ce dernier diront certain, peut-être trop de temps passé sur le "Look", et pas suffisamment sur la mécanique, Émilien aura tôt fait de déclarer forfait et termine 86em.

Pour les résultats complets ainsi que le classement final et officiel des quelque 100 participants de "l'Endurance 250", consulté le www.autodrome.ca ou la page "Facebook", Stock-Car Montréal. Même si les remerciements d'usage avaient été faits lors de la conclusion des différents championnats de l'ASE en septembre dernier, la direction désire réitérer ses bons souhaits.

"Voici maintenant venu le temps de laisser redescendre le rideau sur cette merveilleuse 50em saison de l'Autodrome St-Eustache. Les hivers sont longs, et les saisons de courses trop courtes, cela nous donne tous l'avantage de bien préparer la saison suivante. La direction de l'ASE désire remercier tous ses partenaires commerciaux qui année après année continuent de s'associer à notre bannière. Merci à vous, les pilotes, vos équipiers, vos familles, merci pour vos performances sur la piste, de votre comportement hors piste qui, malgré la compétition demeure toujours correct. Sans vous, un complexe motorisé comme le nôtre n'aurait aucune raison d'être. Merci aussi à tous ces artisans des nouveaux médias du "web", après tout on est en 2014, qui cette année furent présent à plusieurs occasions pour retransmettre en "Live" des événements comme la visite des 358 Modifiés, National 250 ainsi que lors de la conclusion de nos championnats locaux, merci de votre précieuse collaboration. Merci à nos officiels dont le travail est plus souvent critiqué qu'apprécié. Merci à vous tous qui semaine après semaine oeuvré aux concessions ou à la sécurité. Merci finalement au millier de spectateurs qui tout au long de la saison remplissent les estrades. Le slogan dit, "St-Eustache, c'est ma place", mais dans les faits... C'est par une des plus belles journées de l'automne 2014 qu'a eu lieu le 11 octobre la 3e édition de la Course X-trême «Pièces d'autos L.F.»  pour les non voyants, sur l'ovale du complexe motorisé de SANAIR à St-Pie-de-Bagot, une épreuve réunissant plus de 22 voitures qui ont franchi la ligne de départ, dont 17 étaient encore en piste à la toute fin.

 

Profitant de la position de tête, (positions tirées au hasard par le Maire de St-Pie lors de la réunion d'avant-course)  ce sont Pierre Langlois et Steve Ladouceur, supportés par la Ville de St-Eustache,  qui se sont emparés de la position de commande. Ils ont été cependant vite rejoints par Martin Dufour avec la voiture #1 pour un tour et par la suite par Jessie Badeau et le maire de St-Pie, Mario St-Pierre, dont le règne n'aura duré, eux aussi,  qu'un tour avant d'être dépassés par la voiture des Hiboux de Montréal de Gilles Ouellet et Robert Gignac. Un tour plus tard, ce sont les éventuels vainqueurs, Allan Walker et Steve Lagacé aux commandes de la Boutique Amandine #26 qui se sont pointés en tête pour une première fois au 5e passage. Faut mentionnér ici que ce tandem était parti de la 18e position et que grâce aux savants conseils de l'expérimenté Steve Lagacé, Allan Walker a su profiter de la ligne extérieure du premier droit (contrairement aux autres qui s'étaient tous regroupés à gauche) pour les contourner et gagner de précieuses positions avant de finalement se pointer en tête au 5e passage.

 

Mais la course n'était pas finie, ce sont Martin Dufour et son co-pilote «Bonzai» aux commandes de la voiture des Amis de Guillaume #1 qui se sont pointés en pôle position pour la 2e fois au 6e passage avant de re-céder cette première position au bolide #10 des Hiboux de Montréal de Gilles Ouellet et Robert Gignac au 9e passage.

Ce n'est qu'au 11e et dernier tour que l'issue de la course s'est décidée alors que la voiture des Hiboux a perdu la pôle suite à un contact avec la voiture de la Boutique Amandine #26 qui a pris la tête pour franchir la ligne d'arrivée en premier, faisant du pilote non-voyant Allan Walker de Ste-Thérèse et du redoutable co-pilote de St-Jérôme, Steve Lagacé, les gagnants de cette épreuve ponctuée d'un seul ralentissement provoqué la  voiture # 3 de l'ARLPH de Richard Langlois et Gérald Meunier qui sont entrés en contact avec le muret  protecteur, incident sans gravité dont le pilote et son co-pilote  sont sortis indemnes.

 

Une course remplie d'action et de rebondissements, commentée de façon de maître par l'expérimenté commentateur Denis Lecours qui est venu ajouter du piquant au spectacle par ses commentaires des plus appropriés.

 

Les organisateurs de l'événement, ainsi que les participants et commanditaires se sont déclarés satisfaits de leur journée. «Malgré toutes les embûches parsemées sur notre chemin depuis de début de la campagne, et malgré un contexte économique assez difficile, c'est un montant avoisinant les 18 à 20,000$, incluant les quelques 3,500$ en ristourne sur les billets d'admission remis par SANAIR, que se partageront les trois organisations de non-voyants lors de la distribution des profits dans les prochaines semaines……» de déclarer Yves Ladouceur, organisateur de cette course bénéfice qui a tenu à remercier tous les bénévoles, co-organisateurs et commanditaires impliqués dans la réalisation de cette 3e édition de la Course X-trême non-voyants.

Autumn Classic



Heading Back…Back to the Track for the Second Day of Peterborough Speedway's 22nd Annual Autumn Colours Classic

Close to 300 different race teams signed-in pit side at Canada's Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval for the 22ndAnnual Autumn Colours Classic – presented by Lucas Oil Products – at Peterborough Speedway.  Second round qualifying for the Super Bowl of Stock Car Racing took the spotlight Saturday, October 11th, on a crisp, cool and sunny afternoon.

 

Every driver who took to the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road, west of the Liftlock City was looking to secure the best possible starting position for the Sunday afternoon 'A' main events that would crown the 2014 Autumn Colours Classic champions.

 

After running practice rounds the day before, the OSCAAR Super Late Models turned-in their first qualifying heats with NASCAR Canadian Tire Series standout J.R. Fitzpatrick taking a pair of checkered flags, along with Jesse Kennedy, Andrew Gresel, Jeff Dunford and Sunset Speedway track promoter Mark Dilley also earning wins. In Pro Late Model qualifying, Ryan Kimball and Craig Graham visited victory lane, while Peterborough Speedway regulars John Baker Jr., Daryl Fice and Howie Crowe claimed Paul Davis Systems Thunder Car heat wins.

 

Alan Inglis, Jason Parker and Canadian Motorsports Hall of Famer Stompin' Tom Walters added their names to the Earl Ireland Auto Sales Late Model qualifying event winners. Kevin Strutt, Ryan Babin, Ryan Oosterholt and Andy Kamrath each picked-up their second Peterborough Hyundai Mini Stock wins of the weekend, while John VanDyke added a first triumph.

 

In OSCAAR Modified qualifying, Brent McLean scored his second weekend win, with other checkered flags going to Matt Barton and Dustin Jackson. Malcolm MacDonald added a second Battlefield Equipment Rental 4Fun heat victory, with 2014 track champion Willow Barberstock and Tiffany Vanderbelt taking the others.

 

Last chance qualifiers were needed to set the final line-ups for Sunday's Paul Davis Systems Thunder Car and Peterborough Hyundai Mini Stock main events. Matt Bentley, Adam Meisner, Brent Weller and Mike Wallace made the Thunder Car field, while Warren Paxton, Danny Benedict, Kyle Chartrand, Dan Demers, James Townsend, Dave Watchorn, Gil Brooks and Nick Clarke cracked the Mini Stock grid.

 

The Hurricane Midgets ran their final show of 2014, with Larry Lawson, Mike Bradley, James Rogers and Owen Elliott taking the qualifying wins. Rogers, Paul Draganac, Brian Woodland, Adam Carrothers and Richard Woodland were the top 5 finishers in the Midget's 'A' main. Jamie Bound was named the year's point champion. It was announced that the Hurricane Midgets will race under the OSCAAR banner in 2015.

 

Bullring Bullet Points: OSCAAR Modified driver Mike Hardy saw his weekend come to an end with a hard crash into the front stretch wall. He walked away from the wreck unhurt, but his #20 mount was loaded for the trip back to Sault Ste. Marie…Saturday's 50/50 draw was worth $1189.00 to the winner.

Barre, VT – 2014 American Canadian Tour Late Model Champion Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. of Hudson, NH claimed his fourth career Booth Bros./H.P. Hood Pole Award as he set the fast time of the day with a 13.114 second lap at Barre's Thunder Road on Saturday, October 11. Starting on the outside pole will be 2014 Serie ACT Champion Alex Labbe of St-Albert, QCwhen the first segment of the 52nd Annual People's United Bank Milk Bowl rolls off tomorrow, Sunday, October 12.

The "Outlaw" Eddie MacDonald qualified to the first segment as the third fastest time in the time trials. 2014 Thunder Road "King of the Road" Derrick O'Donnell, Cody Blake and seven-time ACT Champion Jean-Paul Cyr each won one of the three Late Model Triple 50 qualifiers following time trial and qualify to positions 4-7 in the first segment.

A total of 47 ACT Late Models were on hand to take a shot at qualifying for one of 30 starting positions in the 52nd Annual People's United Bank Milk Bowl. The first 26 positions in the first segment has been set by the top three time trial times, the top five qualifiers in the Triple 50s and the next eight fast times not already qualified. The final four spots will be up for grabs in tomorrow's Last Chance B-Feature which will roll out at 12:15pm ahead of opening ceremonies at 12:30pm.

The Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen had time trial qualifying and completed their first segment of their Mini-Milk Bowl. Mike Martin edged out Brendan Moodie in a green-white-checkered finish. Doug Crowningshield, David Finck and Dylan Payea completed the top five.

The Allen Lumber Street Stocks also completed time trials and the first segment of their Mini-Milk Bowl. Jadon Perry took the checkers ahead of Tommy Smith, Brandon Gray, Nick Pilotte, and Bunker Hodgdon.

The 52nd Annual People's United Bank Milk Bowl will be run tomorrow, Sunday, October 12 at the "Nation's Site of Excitement." The Late Model Last Chance B-Feature is scheduled for 12:15pm just ahead of the opening ceremonies at 12:30pm. The first of three 50-lap Late Model segments is set to roll at 1:30pm. The Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen and Allen Lumber Street Stocks will finish off their Mini-Milk Bowls and crown their 2014 champions.

Barre, VT – Nearly 40 American Canadian Tour Late Model teams were on hand for the full day of practice at Barre's Thunder Road in preparation for the 52nd Annual People's United Bank Milk Bowl on Friday, October 10. Teams were dialing in their cars for tomorrow's (Saturday, October 11) Booth Bros./H.P. Hood Qualifying Day.

Hinesburg's Bobby Therrien ran the quickest lap of the day with a 13.157. Others spending time near the top of the speed charts included defending Milk Bowl Champion Nick Sweet, back-to-back "King of the Road" Derrick O'Donnell, Travis Stearns, Matt White, 2010 Milk Bowl Champion Joey Polewarczyk, Jr., Jason Corliss, Shawn Fleury, 2009 Milk Bowl Champion John Donahue, two-time Milk Bowl Champion Phil Scott, Trampas Demers, Cody Blake, Brad Babb and Eric Badore. 

A strong contingent of Quebec teams was led by last year's polesitter and 2014 Serie ACT Champion Alex Labbe and three-time Milk Bowl Champion Patrick Laperle. Another Milk Bowl Champion in Eric Williams made a surprise appearance and will run this year's Milk Bowl after several years away from Late Model racing. The "Outlaw" Eddie MacDonald was also on hand and will take a shot at the pole in tomorrow's time trial qualifying.

The Booth Bros./H.P. Hood qualifying action will kick off with Late Model time trials at 1:00pm tomorrow (Saturday, October 11). The top three will qualify on time while the rest of the field will have to battle it out in Triple 50 qualifiers during tomorrow's action. The remainder of the field will be set on Sunday, October 12 with the Last Chance B-Feature at 12:15pm. The Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen and Allen Lumber Street Stocks will both run time trials and the first segment of their Mini-Milk Bowls during tomorrow's Qualifying Day.

Elie Arseneau en ACT au Vermont pour le 52ième People's United Bank Milk Bowl

 

Thunder Road (Barre, VT) le 10 octobre 2014 – Elie Arseneau sera au volant de la voiture 96 de la série ACT (American Canadian Tour) préparée par White Motorsports le 11 et 12 octobre à la piste Thunder Road Speedbowl au Vermont. C'est la deuxième fois qu'il prendra le départ au volant d'un de ces bolides de type NASCAR, la dernière fois étant en 2012 aux côtés du pilote de NASCAR Canadian Tire, Alex Labbé. À noter que la tradition de cette course veut que le vainqueur boit du lait à même le trophée…Et doit embrasser la vache qui a fournit ce lait! 

 

            Ce fût une saison laborieuse en 2014 avec deux abandons en NASCAR Canadien Tire, mais Elie Arseneau se sent prêt pour la course chez nos voisins américains : 

« Cette saison a été très difficile avec mes deux abandons dût à des ennuis mécaniques, mais je suis confiant que tout va bien aller cette fin de semaine. La voiture est rapide et je sais que je peux être compétitif sur ce genre ce circuit. » 

            Il tient à remercier tous les commanditaires qui l'ont aidé tout au long de l'année, notamment ICAR Expérience, Jiffy Lube, La Petite Bretonne, Chevrolet 440, Flight Hub et Kanata Tremblant.

PASS South Racers Prep For Return To Orange County

CHARLOTTE, NC (October 8) – As the 2014 Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model season enters the homestretch, teams are busy preparing for their next challenge.  The South's top short trackers will tackle the high-banked Orange County Speedway near Durham, NC for race #12 on Saturday, October 18th.  The Orange County 150 will almost certainly be a thriller if past races are any indication. 

            With the exception of Hickory Motor Speedway, no track on the PASS South schedule has hosted more events than Orange County Speedway.  Since Wade Day won the inaugural event there in 2006, nine different PASS South drivers have gone to victory lane at Orange County throughout the years.  With his win at Orange County in April, Roger Lee Newton joined Preston Peltier, Corey Williams, and Trevor Sanborn as the only drivers to win more than one PASS South event at the tough 3/8 mile oval.

            The Fogleman name has been synonymous with racing at Orange County Speedway since the 1960's.  In his final season as a full-time PASS South competitor, Jay Fogleman was finally able to visit victory lane at his home track and parlayed that win in to the 2013 PASS South Super Late Model championship.  Tate Fogleman is the third generation to race at Orange County Speedway and would love nothing more than to take his first PASS South checkered flag there in the Orange County 150.

            "My Dad started racing there and so did my Grandpa and we're hoping to draw a good crowd of family and friends and get a good finish," said Fogleman, driver of the #8 Speedco Truck Lube & Tire Ford.  "We're really looking forward to the Orange County 150 and hoping to get a good practice in so we can get the setup right and get a good finish."

            Following a successful tenure in the PASS Pro Late Model division, Fogleman made the leap up to the PASS South Super Late Models in 2013. Throughout a season that saw its share of ups and downs, Fogleman remained consistent and finished fifth in both the PASS South and PASS National points standings.

            The 2014 season has seen Fogleman mature as a driver and challenge more consistently for top five finishes, particularly in the second half of the year.  Fogleman followed up a sixth place finish at South Boston Speedway in June with a career-best third place finish at Southern National Motorsports Park a month later.  Those finishes have allowed Fogleman to become more confident in his abilities and in his Bull City Race Cars team heading back to Orange County.

            "I think we finally found out what our car likes at all tracks basically and we're starting to get good finishes now that we've got our setup right," said Fogleman.  "We're really, really looking forward to our race at Orange County now that we've got our car right and I think we're going to get at least a top five finish."

Action at Orange County Speedway will get under way on Friday, October 17th with rotating practice for all divisions from 3 – 6 PM.  On Saturday, October 18th, practice will start at 1 PM, followed by qualifying at 4:30 PM and racing slated to start at 6 PM.  The PASS South Super Late Models will race for 150 laps, along with 50 laps for the PASS Pro Late Models, and 35 laps for the USAC Eastern Midgets.

3e édition de la Course Xtrême non-voyants

Des champions et des personnalités rouleront

à SANAIR avec des aveugles comme pilotes

 

C'est ce samedi, le 11 octobre, que sera disputé la 3e édition de la Course X-trême ''Pièces d'auto L.F.'' non voyants sur l'ovale du complexe motorisé de SANAIR alors que 22 voitures prendront le départ pour cette course des plus inusitée dont les voitures seront pilotées par des.....aveugles.

 

Bien sûr que ces pilotes seront assistés par des co-pilotes qui tenteront de les garder ''sur le droit chemin'' avec leurs conseils appropriés, gauche-gauche, droite-droite, tout droit, on freine seront les termes les plus utilisés dans les voitures tout au long de la course de 15 minutes.

 

Plusieurs champions et vedettes du showbusiness ont accepté d'agir comme co-pilote dans cette folle course. Parmi ceux-ci mentionnons Étienne Dano, humoriste et animateur à CKOI, Frédérick Charpentier de l'émission ''Pimp mon garage'' , l'humoriste Pascal Babin et Marc Bouchard, animateur à Radio Highway.

 

Parmi les pilotes de course automobile reconnus qui ont accepté de s'impliquer, mentionnons les frères Rémy et Mathieu Audette, des champions sur divers circuits motorisés qui porteront les couleurs de DIMENSION et Banque Nationale. D'autres champions dont Jean-François Bouvrette, champion NASCAR 2013 et 2014, Steve Ladouceur, multiple champion en Sport Compactes,  Steve Lagacé pilote NASCAR et gagnant de l'édition 2013 de la Course Xtrême et Joanne Ledoux, championne de la division Tigresse de l'ANCA qui affronteront les commanditaires qui s'improviseront comme co-pilotes d'un jour.

 

Toute une course en perspective qui saura tenir les spectateurs sur le bout de leur siège,

 

Toutes ces voitures sont gracieusement fournies et préparées par Pièces d'Autos L.F., tandis que Remorquage Beauregard assumera le transport des 22 bolides de Granby à Sanair, et retour.

 

Un événement qui est rendu possible grâce aux commanditaires des voitures et aux nombreux bénévoles qui se sont activés à la préparation de l'événement.

 

Le signal de la course des non-voyants sera donné à 13h00.

 

Autres courses ;

Également au programme, un super enduro des Gladiateurs de la route ! Deux départs de 150 tours chacun, le premier à 11h00 et le 2e après la course des aveugles vers 14h00. Un derby de démolition est également au programme.

 

Rappelons que trois organisations dédiées aux non-voyants profiteront des profits de cet événement, Il s'agit de la Fondation des aveugles du Québec, le club de hockey pour non-voyants Les Hiboux de Montréal et l'ARLPH (L'Association régionale de loisirs pour personnes handicapées des Laurentides).

 

Le prix d'admission pour ce super programme est de 15$ dont 5$ seront remis à la Fondation des aveugles par la piste de SANAIR et le promoteur André Bienvenue. Les enfants de moins de 12 ans seront admis gratuitement.

 

C'est donc un rendez-vous, beau temps, mauvais temps, pour du plaisir plein la vue !

Enduro 200: "Ray" Potvin Jr égal à lui même

Alors que plusieurs profitent des beaux dimanches d'automne pour courir les vergés, d'autres préfèrent se transformer en coureur automobile du dimanche. Une fois de plus cette saison, dame nature collabore avec la direction de l'ASE et se joint aux spectateurs, familles et amis des quelques 75 participants qui auront à coup sûr, offert un spectacle digne de ce nom lors de la présentation du premier des deux "Enduro" automnaux de l'Autodrome St-Eustache. 

Au terme de ces 200 tours, ce n'est nul autre que Raymond Potvin jr. #7, qui, pour une énième fois en carrière, remporte ce que plusieurs qualifient du "Petit Enduro" puisque réservé aux voitures de quatre cylindres.

Un régulier à parader dans le cercle des vainqueurs lors de ce genre d'épreuve, Potvin qui fut aussi champion 2002 de la série "Challenge-4" ne se souvient même pas combien de ces "Enduro" il a remporté. "Chez nous j'ai une trentaine de trophées sur les tablettes" de raconter le vainqueur, "De ce nombre, au moins une quinzaine doivent provenir de victoires en Enduro... Mais je ne suis pas certain. Faudrait en faire le décompte" de conclure le pilote de la Pontiac #7 en jetant un regard à sa douce moitié.

Parmi la trentaine de pilotes survivants de ces 200 tours, Jean-Phillippe "Nikki" Duguay #131 termine deuxième, alors que Jimmy Lee Chagnon #160 croise le fil d'arrivée en troisième place.

Ont complété leur journée de travail avec un plus que respectable "Top-5", François "Frank" Latendresse #60 ainsi que le jeune Jason Morand, #59. Dans le cas de ce dernier, il nous aura offert toute une leçon de pilotage. Bien installé en deuxième position avec seulement une dizaine de tours à faire, sa Sunfire est soudainement victime d'une crevaison arrière. S'en suivront des tours d'anthologie ou le simple fait d'inscrire la voiture en virage exigeait un exemplaire dextérité du jeune Morand. Déception pour le pilote de la #59 de perdre trois positions, mais tout un spectacle pour les amateurs.

Des déceptions... Cela va de soit, parmi la quarantaine de participants n'ayant pas réussi à compléter les 200 tours, Patrick Boucher #96, double champion de la série Sport-Compacte de l'ASE, aura été affligé par une mécanique récalcitrante. Maxime "Max la Menace" Pelletier #66, victime du premier carambolage avec seulement dix tours de complété. Ne vous en faites pas, Max n'était pas en train de "Texter au volant", mais il en fut quitte pour regarder le spectacle du haut des gradins, en compagnie de "Fiston" qui semblait bien se demander ce que "Papa" faisait à ses côtés alors que son bolide reposait au centre de la piste avec les autres épaves.

La palme de la déception revient sans aucun doute à Marc-Antoine "Ponpon" Demers #422. Vice-champion 2014 de la série "Pro-Cam" et vainqueur en série "Sportsman" l'été dernier de l'une des épreuves du Grand Prix de Trois-Rivière, Demers aura croisé le fil d'arrivé en première position, et ce, avec à peine quelques cicatrices sur sa voiture. Une journée pratiquement parfaite pour le #422 se conclura cependant par disqualification lors des inspections d'après course pour une roue avant droite non conforme d'un demi-pouce. Le règlement, c'est le règlement. Bon joueur, "Ponpon" Demers remplacera la roue non règlementaire et devrait être en piste la semaine prochaine pour le 250.

En terminant, les amateurs de la discipline ne voudront pas manquer la présentation du "Endurance 250". Si le weekend dernier, seules les voitures de quatre cylindres étaient admises, dimanche prochain ce sont toutes les cylindrés qui seront en piste. Ce donneront rendez-vous pour cette dernière épreuve sur piste ovale de la saison 2014 de l'ASE, plusieurs des participants de l'Enduro 200, ainsi que tout ces pilotes friands de grosses cylindrés. Comme chaque année, il ne serait pas surprenant de dépasser la centaine de voitures en piste pour un spectacle assuré de 250 tours. Encore une fois, et ce pour un deuxième dimanche consécutif, les amateurs auront donc le choix entre les pommes... Ou les courses?... Des pommes, il y en aura "Juste en masse" au supermarché sur le chemin du retour.
