Peterborough Speedway Officials Fine Tune the 2015 Schedule

With the region locked in the grip of the annual January cold snap, most people are thinking of ways to stay warm, instead of focusing on a season of action at Canada's Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval. The new campaign takes the green flag in about 4 month's time and the promotional team at Peterborough Speedway is putting the finishing touches on an exciting agenda.

 

With a handful of regular divisions tackling the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road west of the Liftlock City, fans can also look forward to performances by the OSCAAR Super Late Models, Modifieds and Midgets. The Ontario Legends, Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup, Ontario Modifieds Racing Series and Can Am TQ Midgets will also join the home track Late Model, Thunder Car, Renegade Truck, Mini Stock and 4Fun classes.

 

For 2015, an appearance by the United Late Models of Ontario as part of their inaugural schedule will compliment Peterborough Speedway's weekly wars. Track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse says putting together an active calendar of events is all about giving the fans what they want.

 

"Looking back at what we were able to accomplish in 2014 leaves some pretty big shoes to fill this year," said Josiasse. "The car counts were strong and fans saw some excellent racing in every division throughout the season. We had a number of first time feature winners, a 14 year-old driver won a track championship, a pair of hometown favourites – Griffin Powell, who finished 10th in the 4Fun standings and Late Model track champion Ryan Kimball – claimed Autumn Colours Classic checkered flags and there were only 2 shows lost due to weather. That sets the bar very high, but as a team I think we're up for the challenge."

 

Josiasse says he's heard from some drivers who'll be changing divisions or landing new rides when the year's first green flag waves. There will be also a former track champion making a return to battle after a brief layoff. Further updates will come over the next couple of months.

 

Fans will get their first official look at the 2015 event line-up when the Peterborough Speedway display will be featured at the first ever Canadian International Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Expo – Friday, Saturdayand Sunday, March 13th to 15th – at the International Centre in Toronto.

Discussions positives aux réunions de pilotes de l'Autodrome St-Eustache

Samedi le 17 janvier dernier, avaient lieu au 3e étage de l'Autodrome St-Eustache, deux réunions d'information pour les pilotes et équipes de course. Une première rencontre adressée aux équipes NASCAR Sportsman Lucas Oil, s'est déroulée devant une cinquantaine de personnes, dont une vingtaine de pilotes. Parmi ceux-ci, quelques nouveaux venus se sont présentés aux gens présents, dont quelques membres de la communauté des médias, qui s'étaient déplacés par cette journée glaciale. En après-midi, les pilotes des séries NASCAR Sport Compacte, NASCAR Légende Modifiée et Challenge 4 étaient à leur tour conviés. Un bon nombre de pilotes ont répondus à l'appel, et ces derniers étaient attentifs aux propos de M.Howard Romanado, directeur événements NASCAR et M.Donald Forté, directeur de courses.

Dès le début de la réunion d'avant-midi, le promoteur de la série et président de l'Autodrome St-Eustache, Alan Labrosse, a tenu à remercier les pilotes NASCAR Sportsman présents de s'être déplacés en si grand nombre. Ce dernier a également dévoilé la programmation de la série pour la saison 2015, qui sera constituée de 12 épreuves réparties sur 10 événements. Tel qu'annoncé au courant de l'automne, les pilotes seront en action sur le circuit du Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières les 31 juillet et 1er août 2015. Ces deux épreuves  seront comptabilisées en combiné pour le championnat 2015. Nouveauté, alors que la série sera en action sur le circuit routier de l'Autodrome St-Eustache deux semaines plus tard, le 15 août, partageant la vedette avec la nouvelle série Nissan Micra. Un nouveau format d'inscription a été dévoilé aux pilotes, qui leur permettra d'effectuer des économies en s'engageant pour tous les programmes de la saison, et ce, en devenant éligible à de nombreux bonis dont le tirage d'un moteur GM crate 602 neuf.

Du côté des séries NASCAR Sport Compacte, NASCAR Légende Modifiée et Challenge 4, les points importants discutés ont particulièrement tourné autour de l'application de la réglementation en vigueur plus stricte et de l'amélioration de la sécurité des pilotes tout en gardant les coûts relatifs le plus bas possible. Quelques changements pourraient être apportés, notamment en établissant un contrôle des pneus utilisés dans une saison pour toutes les catégories. Pour le directeur de course, Donald Forté, il est impératif d'améliorer la sécurité des pilotes de toutes les catégories, plus particulièrement ceux de la série Challenge 4. Il a également tenu à souligner l'excellent spectacle qu'ont donné les pilotes de cette série lors de la dernière saison.

Tout au long de la journée, que ce soit parmi les pilotes NASCAR Sportsman Lucas Oil réunis en avant-midi, que le groupe de pilote réunis en après-midi, tous ont semblé apprécier les discussions auxquelles les dirigeants de l'ASE les avaient conviés. Les pilotes ont donné leurs opinions et suggérés des idées aux points apportés par la direction.

Une réunion pré-saison annonçant les changements et améliorations, aura lieu au début du mois de mars, pour permettre aux pilotes de se préparer adéquatement pour la saison 2015. Beaucoup de positif et d'optimisme en vue de la prochaine saison NASCAR qui débutera le 23 mai prochain à l'Autodrome St-Eustache.

André Poulin veut rendre les pratiques accessibles à tous

Dans le but de permettre l'amélioration des pilotes, le promoteur André Poulin a décidé de rendre accessible et ce, sur une base régulière, la piste de l'Autodrome Chaudière à des coûts abordables, et selon un horaire pré déterminé.

En effet, tel que vous pourrez le constater en consultant la section Évènements/Calendrier sur le site internet de l'Autodrome, se tiendra tous les mercredis à compter du 6 mai,  aux deux semaines, des séances de pratiques de 18h à 21h00 pour toutes les catégories.

Au coût de 20$ par voiture, les pilotes pourront venir tester leurs ajustements ou simplement prendre de l'aisance avec leur voiture. Seules les voitures de même classe et/ou catégorie seront mise en piste en même temps et selon des temps accordés afin de rendre le tout disponible à un plus grand nombre de personnes possible.

Pour ceux qui veulent assister à ces séances, l'entrée sera gratuite. De plus, dans la section des puits, le service de restauration sera mis à votre disposition en tout temps.

Il y aura aussi la possibilité, pour ceux qui le désire, de faire la location privée de la piste en contactant André Poulin et ce, selon les disponibilités; premier arrivée, premier servi !

Scott's Legacy a Story of Perseverance, Excellence

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (January 19, 2015) – During a 13-year premier series career, Wendell Scott likely never considered he was making NASCAR history. The Virginian's sole concern was getting to the next race on a miniscule budget.

 

Scott wasn't the only driver to struggle financially. The odds of making a good living racing stock cars were long in the 1960s and early 1970s when purses were small, large sponsors unheard of and manufacturer support came and went with the turning of the calendar's pages.

 

But Scott faced a challenge not shared by his fellow competitors: that of an African-American battling to succeed in a still-segregated society.

 

Measured against that backdrop, Scott succeeded admirably. He became the first – and to date, only – black driver to win a premier series race, at Jacksonville, Florida, in 1963. He made 495 starts to rank 37th on the series' all-time list, posting 147 top-10 finishes, more than 25% of the races he entered. Scott finished four times among the top 10 in driver championship standings including a sixth in 1966.

 

While most of Scott's success came on shorter tracks, he logged superspeedway top 10s at Atlanta, Charlotte, Daytona Beach, Dover and Darlington. He twice finished seventh in Atlanta Motor Speedway's Dixie 400 – in 1966 finishing ahead of NASCAR Hall of Famers Buck Baker, Bobby Allison and fellow 2015 inductee Rex White. Scott also finished seventh in a Daytona 500 qualifying race – which at the time carried premier series championship points.

 

Scott was singular of purpose, owning and preparing the cars which carried the No. 34. His Chevrolets and Fords were second hand. Without sponsorship, Scott couldn't afford to hire a pit crew, which usually was comprised of his sons. Tires and spare parts were cast offs from other teams.

 

Scott, however, never used that as excuse to give less than 100 percent. He finished 321 of his 495 starts.

 

"We weren't allowed to use the words 'can't' and 'never.' He didn't believe in those words," said Franklin Scott, one of Scott's seven children and a member of his father's pit crew. "He instilled in everybody he met that if you're willing to work and do the things necessary to be successful, you can be successful."

 

"If he had had the proper equipment, I believe he would have been a winner a lot of times," said 1960 premier series champion White, sentiments echoed by NASCAR Hall of Famer Ned Jarrett, a two-time premier series champion.

 

"If he'd had the equipment or financial backing that I and others had, he would have won more races," said Jarrett in a 2009 story published in the New York Times.

 

Former Charlotte Motor Speedway president H.A. "Humpy" Wheeler, quoted in the same article, said Scott "was obviously a much better driver than the record shows."

 

Wendell Oliver Scott was born Aug. 29, 1921 in Danville, Virginia. His father was an expert mechanic, a trade the young Scott quickly learned. After serving in Europe during World War II, Scott returned home to become a taxi driver, who also transported illegal whiskey. He competed in his first race at the Danville fairgrounds winning $50. Over the next decade Scott won more than 100 sportsman and modified stock car races as well as the Virginia State Sportsman championship.

 

Scott made his NASCAR premier series debut at age 39 on March 4, 1961 at Piedmont Interstate Fairgrounds in Spartanburg, South Carolina, driving a year-old Chevrolet purchased from Baker. He continued as a series regular until 1973, his career ended by an accident at Talladega Superspeedway.

 

Scott's signature victory in the Dec. 1, 1963 race at Jacksonville's Speedway Park in the third event of the 1964 season was fraught with controversy. Scott, who started 15th, initially was listed as finishing third behind Baker, who took part in victory circle ceremonies and headed for home with the race trophy. A subsequent scoring re-check found Scott actually had finished two laps ahead of Baker.

 

"I knew I'd passed Buck … three times and only made one pit stop for gas and didn't lose a lap," said Scott, who led the final 27 laps after frontrunner Richard Petty slowed with steering problems. "I knew I had won."

 

In 1990, Scott lost a battle to cancer at age 69. In January 2013 Scott was awarded his own historical marker in Danville, proclaiming in part, "Persevering over prejudice and discrimination, Scott broke racial barriers in NASCAR."

 

Scott previously was inducted into the National Sports Hall of Fame, the International Motorsports Hall of Fame, the National Motorsports Press Association Hall of Fame and the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame.

Le #33R Rémi Perreault entamera sa 4e saison sous une note positive

 

Rémi Perreault est assurément un des pilotes le plus apprécié de ces co-équipiers. Il le dit lui-même; il peut compter sur les doigts d'une main les pilotes qui ne lui ont pas donné un coup de pouce depuis son arrivée avec la Série Sportsman Québec. C'est non seulement une personne vraiment sympathique mais aussi un pilote très respectueux en piste et dans les puits.

 

Le pilote de Joliette a débuté sur la piste de l'Autodrome Saint-Eustache en 2009. « J'ai commencé, en allant voir des courses avec ma conjointe Marie-Andrée. On a parlé avec du monde qu'elle connaissait là-bas et le lendemain, je me suis acheté un Camaro. Pas le bon modèle, pas le bon moteur et sans « frame » mais bon, je connaissais strictement rien en mécanique! Ça m'a pris 2 ans monter tout ca avec tous les coûts que ca implique.» nous raconte Rémi.

Il se rappelle encore de la nervosité qu'il avait lors de sa première course et surtout de son déroulement! Premier tour de pratique, le moteur chauffait; deuxième pratique perte d'huile et après seulement quelques tours de piste en course, un accrochage qui l'a mené directement dans le muret et qui a occasionné plusieurs bris sur la voiture. Malgré tout, il se souvient que les gens étaient tellement gentils et l'ont beaucoup aidé ce qui lui a donné la piqure. Il terminera malgré tous ses déboires Recrue de l'année. Pour sa deuxième année, il fait l'acquisition d'une toute nouvelle voiture, prête pour les courses cette fois !!! C'est à sa troisième saison, en 2011, qu'il accèdera à son premier podium. 

C'est à la fin de cette saison, suite à des rumeurs d'associations entre les Série Sportsman Québec et Sportsman ASE qu'il achète son tout premier Sportsman Québec. «  C'était un coup de tête, 10 minutes au téléphone et c'était règlé » souligne-t-il.

 

 

Pourquoi la Série Sportsman Québec?

La participation au GP3R et le fait de rouler sur plusieurs pistes en plus de suivre la Série ACT LMS ont pesé dans la balance pour son choix. Il est certain qu'il aurait aimé pour la saison 2015 que la Série visite davantage de piste près de chez lui mais reste confiant pour les années à venir.

Son cheminement en Sportsman Québec

Les deux premières années ont été une période d'apprentissage; les pistes, les réglages, courir avec un signaleur, les balances, ect…  « C'est pas innée chez moi, les lignes de course, les freinage et les sortis de courbes pour être au maximum de la voiture, de très bon pilote, de grosse équipe, c'est pas facile à suivre » précise Rémi.

Quant en 2014 il débute l'année avec une voiture flambant neuve avec comme objectif premier de s'y adapter. Formant équipe avec sa conjointe Marie-Andrée et à de rares occasions avec un mécanicien il va s'en dire que pour lui, sa 8ieme position au GP3R ainsi que le prix du Hard Charger pour le pilote ayant fait le plus de dépassement positif lors de cette course ont été une victoire. Avec ce premier top 10, son objectif était atteint !

Pour 2015, il désire finir toutes ses courses et le plus souvent possible dans le top 10. Si on y ajoutait un ou deux top 5, ce serait mission accomplie! On le voit, ça transparait, pour lui les courses, c'est une place où il s'amuse, où il jase avec les gens mais il sait aussi qu'il doit apprendre à prendre sa place en piste. Il se réjouit du succès de ses amis et se remémorent avec joie le premier podium de son ami #4 Stéphane Fournier lors du GP3R. Il retire autant de plaisir dans la victoire des autres ainsi que dans le fait de « challenger » avec un pilote pour la 15e position tout comme si c'était pour la 3e position! Des pilotes avec autant d'esprit d'équipe, y'en a pas des tonnes !

On ne peut que te souhaiter une excellente saison 2015 Rémi.

Should NASCAR do more for South America?

Back in August of this year Sprint, NASCAR premier series long time title sponsor, appointed Bolivian American Marcelo Claure as CEO. Shortly after it wad announced Sprint wad pulling out from sponsoring NASCAR. Many speculate, his soccer background (he owns a professional team and he is a member of the FIFA board) will see Sprint "send" its advertizing dollars that way.

In January, world renown Banana and salad producer, Chiquita, announced it would relicate from the NASCAR Hall of fame building, after moving in only in 2011. The Brazillian company wants to move its headquarters closer to his source and to consumers.

Brandt Graham is Ready to Blaze New Racing Trails for 2015

Young people have the world figured out. They influence the latest trends, understand technology that completely confuses most adults and throw around terms like snap-chat, selfie, hash-tag and tumbler with ease in part of their everyday conversation.

 

When it comes to his racing career, Brandt Graham has proven that he's not only a quick racer but also a fast learner. After 3 seasons at the controls of a Mini Stock at Peterborough and Kawartha Speedways, the talented teenager from Orono, Ontario will take his first green flag of the 2015 season behind the wheel of a Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series ride. The second generation speedster – who attends grade 11 at Clarke High School – says when the chance to move into a new division came along, he jumped at the opportunity.

 

"I wanted to move into a different class, but also continue to learn and develop as a racer," said the youngster during a break at the team's shop. "The Sportsman Cup Series has a schedule that will let me see some diverse tracks and compete in a bigger, heavier and faster car against some more experienced drivers. That can only serve to sharpen my skills and further my racing education."

 

For his maiden voyage in the travelling series, Brandt Graham will strap-in behind the controls of a car that was campaigned in 2014 by Jake Ott. The ride is currently being prepped by the Graham Racing crew, in anticipation of the opening show of the 7 event calendar – Saturday, May 9th – at Full Throttle Motor Speedway at Durham, Ontario. One of the biggest adjustments on the horizon for Graham will be the races themselves. LOSC shows consist of on-track practice, timed qualifying and a 100 lap main event. That's 4 times longer than any feature tilt he's ever logged before. The 16 year old runner says he's counting down the days until his debut with a high level of nervous anticipation.

 

"Right now, there's a lot the team doesn't know but I'm confident that things will quickly fall into place," said Graham. "The car is a proven piece and we've stripped-off the body panels and checked over the chassis since it arrived here about a month before Christmas. Our new marketing package will be ready shortly and we'll announce some new sponsorship partners, paint scheme and the number we'll be running in a month or so. Then, it'll only be a matter of time 'til the first green flag of the season."

 

With a bright future ahead of him and a lifetime of choices to consider, Brandt Graham is still contemplating his long-term career path. He's taking each event as it comes along through the new campaign and looks forward to building the Graham Racing brand throughout the year.

WEST HAVEN, VT – Champion stock car drivers and top performers will be honored in Rutland, VT on Saturday, January 31, as Devil's Bowl Speedway officially wraps its 2014 season at the Banquet of Champions at the Holiday Inn Rutland/Killington.  Nine drivers will collect championship hardware as many others are recognized for their achievements.

Todd Stone of Middlebury, VT will be presented with awards for his second straight track championship in the Bond Auto Parts Modified division.  Stone's four-win season topped all others in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series program at the facility's asphalt half-mile oval.  Sportsman Modified racer Adam Pierson of Bradford, VT will be crowned the inaugural champion of the new Dirt Track at Devil's Bowl, a one-third-mile clay oval located in the infield of the asphalt track.

Other champions in NASCAR Whelen All-American Series action include Late Model ace Jamie Fisher of Shelburne, VT, Robert Gordon of Milton, VT in the Renegade class, and Addison, VT's Chuck Bradford in the Central Vermont Motorcycles Mini Stock division.  Fisher and Bradford are first-time champions at Devil's Bowl, while Gordon backs up his first title from 2012.

Bill Duprey of Hydeville, VT will take top honors in the Renegade division for The Dirt Track as Rob Gioia of East Thetford, VT grabs the brass ring for the Mini Stock group.

In other series sanctioned by Devil's Bowl Speedway, Jessey Mueller of Olmstedville, NY will be recognized as the champion of the Northern Modified Challenge Series after a three-win run, and Eric Messier of Hinesburg, VT will make it two in a row as champion of the entry-level Enduro Series.

Several special awards will be given including Devil's Bowl Speedway's top honor, the John Bruno Award, for a person or group who has made a significant contribution to short track racing during their lifetime while maintaining high standards of conduct and respect.  Other awards include Rookie of the Year, Sportsmanship, and Most Improved Driver trophies in each of the four NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions, the annual Award of Excellence, and the annual Dedication Award.  Sponsor awards will also be presented on behalf of Five Star Race Car Bodies, Bond Auto Parts, and Shiley Fabrication.

CHARLOTTE, NC (January 16) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) officials, along with representatives of Short Track Management, are pleased to announce the return of the PASS South Super Late Model and PASS Pro Late Model divisions to Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, NC in 2015.  The 4th Running of the Labor Day Classic at Ace Speedway will take place on Labor Day afternoon, Monday, September 7, 2015.  In addition to PASS, the Madhouse Modifieds, which are featured at the legendary Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, NC, will compete in Twin 25 lap features under Stadium rules and on Stadium tires.  The USAC Eastern Midgets will complete the entertaining Labor Day afternoon festivities of racing at Ace Speedway.

            Short Track Management CEO Bill Catania recently acquired the lease to promote events at Ace Speedway in 2015 and has been a long-time competitor in the PASS South Super Late Model division.  Catania finished 10th in PASS South Super Late Model points in 2012 and is excited to have PASS featured as the biggest event of the season at Ace Speedway.

"There is arguably no better door-to-door, fender rubbing racing than the Pro All Stars Series," says Catania.  "The size and configuration at Ace sets the stage for a true bullring showdown.  As a PASS competitor I won't miss this race for anything and as a fan I would put it at the top of my list.  I have tremendous respect for Tom Mayberry - he has arguably built the most action packed product in short track racing and I'm glad that the path to the 2015 PASS South Super Late Model championship will run through Ace Speedway."

The Labor Day Classic returns to the PASS South schedule for the first time since 2012 after having rotated from North Wilkesboro Speedway to Ace Speedway, and finally to Caraway Speedway.  However, this will be the first time the Classic has actually been held on Labor Day.  This will be the fifth time PASS has competed at Ace Speedway, with Andy Loden, Ryan Blaney, Clay Rogers, and most recently, Tyler Church all going to victory lane there in the past.

La Beauce à nouveau représenté dans la Série Sportsman Québec

La Série Sportsman Québec aura, encore cette année, une belle cuvée de recrue pour entamer la saison 2015. Parmi ceux déjà annoncé, on pourra voir en piste Éric Cloutier à bord de la voiture #21, ancien véhicule #38 de Louison Lapierre.

Natif de Saint-Georges, c'est en 1996 qu'il fait ses débuts en course automobile à l'Autodrome Chaudière de Vallée-Jonction dans la classe de rue. D'après ses dires, ce ne fût pas un grand succès mais il qualifie sa participation comme étant une belle expérience. Ce n'est que quelques années plus tard qu'il retournera en piste, toujours dans la classe de rue, mais cette fois avec une voiture améliorée avec laquelle il obtient le titre de vice-champion et ensuite champion de sa catégorie ce qui l'amène à progresser en classe amateur.

 

De la classe amateur, il est passé en classe Super Stock, s'est familiarisé avec la course sur l'asphalte à l'Autodrome Chaudière et finalement, gagnera le championnat de la classe Limité en 2011.

 

Pour Éric Cloutier, sa venue avec la Série Sportsman Québec était la suite logique de son développement en Stock Car. Pour cette année, il ne compte pas faire la saison complète mais davantage s'en tenir aux programmes locaux et ce bien entendu tout dépendant du budget mis à sa disposition. Pour lui, la Série en est une où il y a de l'action et compte prendre le temps de s'adapter. Questionné sur ses ambitions pour la première saison, Éric Cloutier nous précise  « Je ne crois pas virer en avant mais j'aimerais ne pas être bon dernier non plus ! »

 

Passionné de courses, suivant religieusement le Nascar à toutes les semaines, il sera accompagné par sa femme et ses filles qui le suivent dans sa passion. Il souligne le travail exceptionnel de son co-équipier Zac sur qui il peut s'appuyer.

 

Déjà quelques commanditaires sont confirmés pour la saison 2015 soit Auto H Cloutier, Garage Guy Jacques et Pièces d'Autos Fernand Bégin.

Réunion des pilotes NASCAR et ASE  17 janvier 2015

L'Autodrome St-Eustache invite ses pilotes réguliers et tout autres pilotes intéressés à joindre les rangs des catégories NASCAR et ASE du circuit des Basses-Laurentides, ce samedi 17 janvier.

La journée de réunion pré-saison se déroulera en deux volets, alors que la direction accueillera tout d'abord  les équipes de la série NASCAR Sportsman Lucas Oil à compter de 10h00 au Bistro-bar de l'Autodrome. Les points importants qui seront traités sont notamment le calendrier officiel 2015, les bourses, fond de points, bonis et prix spéciaux. Il sera également question de circuit routier, du GP3R, nouveauté au championnat NASCAR Sportsman Lucas Oil. Un nouveau format avantageux d'inscription pour la saison complète avec éligibilité à des bonis spéciaux sera aussi présenté aux équipes.

La série NASCAR Sportsman Lucas Oil, est celle qui connait actuellement le plus important engouement au Québec, notamment avec une moyenne de 21 voitures au départ de chacune des 10 épreuves la saison dernière. La crème des meilleurs pilotes québécois assaisonnée de quelques excellents pilotes ontariens et américains contribuent au succès croissant de la série. De plus, le couronnement du champion 2014, Jean-François Bouvrette,  au NASCAR Hall Of Fame de Charlotte USA en décembre dernier, a fait beaucoup jaser, et plusieurs pilotes rêvent eux aussi de vivre cette expérience unique de se retrouver parmi l'élite mondiale en fin de saison.

À compter de 13h00, ce sera au tour des pilotes des séries NASCAR Sport Compacte, NASCAR Légende Modifiée et Challenge 4 d'être accueillis au Bistro-Bar de l'ASE. Les points importants traités seront notamment le calendrier officiel 2015, le fond de points NASCAR ainsi qu'un survol de la réglementation de chacune des séries.

La direction de l'Autodrome St-Eustache vous attend en grand nombre pour cette réunion en vue de la prochaine saison de course automobile.

Waterbury, VT – Robert Hart, Promoter and Owner of the New Smyrna Speedway (NSS) and Tom Curley, President of the American Canadian Tour (ACT) made a surprise announcement today by scheduling a third event for the ACT Late Model teams. The popular New England and Quebec based touring group have added a Sunday night, February 15, 2015 date to their trip to the Florida track. The American Racer Challenge Cup will take place on Monday and Tuesday, February 16-17, 2015.

"It was a nice surprise today to hear from Kim Brown and Robert Hart from New Smyrna. After consulting all 28 teams, we have been able to put together a field of twenty-six cars to run an additional 100-lap race on Sunday night of the opening weekend at New Smyrna Speedway. The season-opening event of the NASCAR K & N Series will take place on Sunday as well. There was a lot of enthusiasm and support from all the teams, and most told us they would be there watching the K&N race anyway, so being able to race was a bonus they hadn't expected," said Curley.

The qualifying for ACT teams on Sunday night will be at 6:30 and their 100-lap feature event will take place immediately after the K & N feature. The race will not be counted toward the American Racer Challenge Cup, because there were two teams that have entered who will not be in attendance at New Smyrna on Sunday.

"We didn't think it would be fair to make this third race a part of the Challenge Cup because there were a couple of teams that had already made their flight plans. However, it is a great way to help teams offset some of their expenses for the trip with a third purse on Sunday night. It is also what a trip South in February is all about—good old-fashioned racing for three straight days. All the ACT staff and teams are excited about heading to Florida next month," said Darla Hartt, Vice President of ACT.

The American Racer Challenge Cup is still a two-day event with twin 100-lap races held on Monday and Tuesday, February 16-17 2015. The newly announced event will be held as a stand-alone 100-lap event on Sunday, February 15, 2015.

Waterbury, VT – The Laperle Brothers race team from Montreal, Quebec have entered the ACT American Racer Challenge Cup to be contested at the New Smyrna Speedway (NSS) in New Smyrna Beach, Florida on Monday and Tuesday, February 16-17, 2015. That brings the ACT field for the winter showdown at the World Series of Racing to a total of twenty-eight (28) entrants from throughout New England and Quebec.

"Well I guess you could think of this as somewhat of a 'game-changer'. Eric Laperle has been an accomplished crew chief for his brother Patrick ever since they flipped the coin to see which twin would drive their first race at Airborne Speedway back in 1998. Patrick became the driver and Eric began learning his craft as crew chief. The Laperle team will certainly bring some energy to the event next month," said ACT President Tom Curley.

The Laperle team has won eighteen (18) ACT major events. They sit third in all-time wins. Patrick Laperle is a three-time Série ACT (Quebec) Champion, he also won the ACT US title in 2008. He is a three-time winner of the Milk Bowl at Thunder Road.

Many members of the Laperle team, including brother Eric, will be working at the Daytona International Speedway preparing for Quebec driver Mario Gosselin's Xfinity Series (formerly Nationwide) opening event on Saturday, February 21, 2015.

"Boy, this should be a lot of fun next month. There are going to be some very good race teams with Eddie Mac (MacDonald), Labbe, Hebert, Theetge, Parent, and Joey (Polewarczyk, Jr.), just to name a few. Now you add in Laperle and that should make things pretty wild," said newly appointed ACT Race Director Cris Michaud.

Robert Hart, long-time promoter and owner of New Smyrna Speedway said, "It was a goal of ours to get the American Canadian Tour to return to our track after the great show they put on a few years ago. I know many of our fans from both the North and South enjoyed the competition the ACT teams are known for. We are very much looking forward to hosting them again this year. We sure hope we can provide some warm weather for our Northern friends next month."

The American Racer Challenge Cup is a two-day event with twin 100-lap races held on Monday and Tuesday, February, 16-17 2015. Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. is the defending Champion. A full entry list of the ACT teams will be announced in a week.

NAPLES, ME (January 12) – After two seasons of competing in a partial Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Model schedule, Newmarket, NH driver Bryan Kruczek is ready to make the next step in his racing career.  Kruczek will compete full-time in 2015 and hopes to contend for the new PASS Northeast Super Late Model Challenge.  Unlike the overall PASS North Super Late Model series, the PASS Northeast Super Late Model Challenge will allow drivers to compete for a separate title in the United States events only.  For Kruczek, 2015 presented the perfect opportunity to race for his first PASS title.

"I feel like we are making a huge step in our program this year and look forward to stepping out of the shadows in 2015," said Kruczek of his new opportunity.

Despite only making a limited number of starts over the last two seasons, Kruczek still managed to finish 11th in PASS North points in both 2013 and 2014.  In 16 starts over the last two years, Kruczek has one top five finish and three top 10's during that span of time.

In 2015, Kruczek will once again be joined by crew chief Miles Chapman and will pilot a brand new machine out of the Dale Shaw Race Cars stable.  New to the team this year will be major sponsorship from Ouellette Associates Inc. headquartered in Brunswick, ME.

While the focus for Kruczek will be on the PASS Northeast Super Late Model Challenge, the team is currently planning to compete in the PASS North event at Canada's Autodrome Chaudiere on Saturday, May 16.  Depending on the results there, Kruczek could still possibly make a run at the overall PASS North Super Late Model title in 2015.

The 2015 PASS season will get under way on Saturday, March 7 when the PASS South Super Late Models and PASS Pro Late Models take to Dillon Motor Speedway for the 10th Annual South Carolina Clash.  The PASS North Super Late Model season is slated to start on Saturday, April 18 with the Ripley & Fletcher Ford 150 at Oxford Plains Speedway.
