Danny Johnson Steals Super DIRTcar Series Win

Danny Johnson Steals Super DIRTcar Series Win

PLATTSBURGH – Waterloo, NY driver, Matt Sheppard was two laps away from his fourth Super DIRTcar Series victory of the season, when a yellow flag slowed the pace and setup a green-white-checkered finish at Airborne Park Speedway.

The lap-98 yellow for Sussex, NJ native, Brett Hearn pulled veteran driver, Danny Johnson to Sheppard's rear bumper for a restart.

Sheppard drove the car high into turns one and two on the restart, while Johnson used the inside lane to pull even down the backstretch. Into the third turn, Sheppard slid up the track and Johnson found bite on the bottom of three and four to complete the pass. Sheppard again looked high on the final lap, but didn't find the line to make a move.

Johnson's win was his second of the season with the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds.

"It feels great to get this win," Johnson said. "The car was good on the inside and it was great on the final laps."

Sheppard held on for the second spot, while Max McLaughlin completed the podium. Erick Rudolph and Jimmy Phelps finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

"Our car was really good all night for it being our first time here," Sheppard said. "I bet this will probably be the last time you see Danny thanking Brett for that yellow."

Jack Speshock picked up his first career win in the Poirier's True Value Sportsman Modified feature.

Speshock took the lead on lap-9, but had to hold off racing veteran, Bucko Branham on a lap-22 restart. Speshock selected the inside for the restart and drove away to victory.

Patrick Picotin charged late to finish second, while Branham settled for third. Lonnie Rivers and Devin Willis completed the top five.

The Ernie's Discount Tools Super Stocks found a familiar face in victory lane, as Tylor Terry scored his fifth win of the year. Brent Jarvis, Jim McKiernan, Josh Terry and Michael Wright completed the top five.

Cam Gadue picked up the Mini-Mod win, his third of the year.

PASS North Back On Track This Weekend At Lee USA Speedway

PASS North Back On Track This Weekend At Lee USA Speedway

-       For Immediate Release

NAPLES, ME (August 1) – In one of their last opportunities to compete prior to the 45th Annual Oxford 250, the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North Super Late Models will be back on track this Friday night at Lee USA Speedway in New Hampshire.  Coming in to this weekend's action, the battle for New England's most prestigious short track championship continues to be a hot one.  Two Granite State drivers, Center Conway's DJ Shaw and Hudson's Derek Griffith, continue to lead the standings following last weekend's "Prelude To The Oxford 250" at Oxford Plains Speedway.

Shaw, the former two-time series champion, is not a stranger to winning in his home state, but has not won at Lee USA Speedway since 2015. Both Shaw and Griffith, his nearest championship contender, have won at Lee and Shaw hopes its tight configuration will play to his favor on Fridaynight.

"It's a fun, low grip place that you get to slide around on and really work the car as the race goes on," says Shaw, driver of the Precision JLM/Mulkern Excavating #60 Chevrolet.  "Lee is one I mark on the calendar every year because it's where I got my first big win in a Late Model 10 years ago.  I've snagged a couple of other Super Late Model wins at Lee over the last few years, so we're really looking forward to getting back there this weekend."

With only two races left until the 45th Annual Oxford 250 and the chance to win up to $50,000, Northeast Super Late Model drivers are running out of chances to tweak their setup prior to the biggest race of the year.  While Shaw and Griffith will be among the top contenders to take the checkered flag at Lee on Friday night, there will be plenty of others for them to deal with this weekend.  Fellow New Hampshire driver, Joe Squeglia and Maine's Glen Luce, are both former PASS winners at Lee.  Cassius Clark also will be returning following a near win last weekend at Oxford.  Derek Ramstrom, John Peters, and New England Modified standout, Anthony Nocella, are all entered for this weekend's 150 lapper at Lee.

All the action gets under way on Friday at Lee USA Speedway with practice starting at 4 PM.  Racing gets under way at 7 PM with heat race action followed by features for the PASS North Super Late Models, Street Stock, Pure Stock, Ironman, and Sportsman divisions.

PASS North Super Late Model entry forms for Lee USA Speedway, South Boston Speedway, and Speedway 51, along with the 45th Annual Oxford 250 and inaugural PASS Commonwealth Classic at Richmond Raceway, can be found at ProAllStarsSeries.com.

The Pro All Stars Series is recognized as North America's premier sanctioning body for asphalt Super Late Models and boasts such marquee events as the legendary Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway, PASS South's Easter Bunny 150, and the inaugural PASS Commonwealth Classic at Richmond Raceway.  For technical information concerning all PASS divisions please send questions to passracing@roadrunner.com.  For media or marketing questions, please contact Alan Dietz at 704-231-2039 or alandietzpass@live.com.  And, don't forget to "Like" the Pro All Stars Series on Facebook or follow us on Twitter @PASSSLM14 to keep up with breaking news as it happens.

THEETGE SCORES FIRST NASCAR PINTYS SERIES WIN IN SASKATOON

THEETGE SCORES FIRST NASCAR PINTYS SERIES
WIN IN SASKATOON

SASKATOON, SK, Thursday July 26, 2018:   Donald Theetge driver of the #24 Mercedes-Benz St Nicolas/Circuit Acura Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 came to Western Canada with one thing on his mind.  Tonight, he realized that dream with his first NASCAR Pintys Series win in the first of Twin 125 full points races at Wyant Group Raceway in Saskatoon, SK.

Leading up to the win, Theetge was extremely happy with his car right off the trailer and in practice was posted as 3rd quickest.  "I am really happy with my car," said Theetge after practice.  "The 22 team has given me a car I can win with."

Theetge would then follow up his 3rd in practice with the 2nd fastest time in qualifying lining him up for the start on the outside of row one.

Theetge settle into the top three during the early stages of race one in the Velocity Prairie Thunder Bayer Twin 125's until lap 16 when he took the lead and never looked back.  A late race caution had everyone on the edge of their seats but Theetge easily sped away from the field again to go on to take the checkered flag in what would be his first NASCAR win.

"First of all, a dream come true with the win," said Theetge.  "The car was really quick, and we finally won one after being so close last year. I would like to say thank you to Scott as we chose him and his 22 Racing team because we knew that we could win a race with his team.  We are very proud to have done this and we say thank you to him and Greg Gibson my crew chief and the whole 24 team."

Starting the second of the Velocity Prairie Bayer Twin 125's in second position, Theetge looked to go to the front of the field again.  Over the course of the 125 laps the car started to get loose on entry and Theetge found himself running the top line on the track.  After a race long battle with eventual winner Cole Powell where they ran side by side for many laps, he went on to finish 4th.

"The second race at the beginning I thought we were catching Dumoulin for maybe another win, but the car started to get loose on entrance, so I had to run the higher grove.  That's what we had to do, and we finished fourth so another good race. We made some points tonight and if we can be in top 5 in Edmonton before Trois Rivieres I think we will be in good shape as still five more oval races."

After seven races, Theetge finds his #24 Mercedes-Benz St Nicolas/Circuit Acura team in 7th in the NASCAR Pinty's Series standings just 19 points behind the leader.

The Velocity Prairie Thunder Twin 125s presented by Bayer will air on TSN 1&3 on Saturday Aug. 4th at 1:30 p.m. ET and on RDS2 onTuesday Aug. 21 at 10 p.m. ET.

The teams now make their way to the final Western event at Edmonton International Raceway this Saturday July 28th.  For more information please visit www.edmontonraceway.com

Donald Theetge is supported by the following sponsors:  Mercedes-Benz St Nicolas, Circuit Acura, Antidote, V Télé, Le Soleil, XPN World et Québec Automobile Esthétique

Jacques Villeneuve to Race a Subaru WRX STI at GP3R in Americas Rallycross

Jacques Villeneuve to Race a Subaru WRX STI at GP3R in Americas Rallycross

TROIS-RIVIÈRES, Quebec, Canada (July 27, 2018) – Having a Villeneuve on the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières (GP3R) track is as natural as having all-wheel drive on a Subaru. It is then just natural that Jacques Villeneuve, the 1997 FIA Formula One World Champion, will compete in the Trois-Rivières round of the all-new Americas Rallycross (ARX) Championship at the wheel of a Vermont SportsCar-prepared Subaru WRX STI, August 4-5.

Villeneuve will join the Subaru Rally Team USA three-car team alongside Chris Atkinson and Patrik Sandell, as the local champion will be back on track at GP3R for the first time since 2014, in a factory car prepared just on the other side of the Canada-USA border.

During his last appearance on track at the GP3R, in the FIA World Rallycross Championship, he won his first qualifying race, before a mechanical failure prevented him to advance to the final rounds. Villeneuve, winner of the 1995 Indianapolis 500, is thrilled to be back in rallycross, an action-packed discipline he enjoys tremendously, with a highly-motivating partnership with a team with the reputation of Subaru's.

"Trois-Rivières has always felt like my motorsports home, so it's once again a pleasure to be back. Rallycross has grown exponentially since I've last raced these amazing cars, so it's good to be part of a sport on the rise. I am grateful for the opportunity to be racing a works' Subaru and will do everything in my power to help the team in its Americas Rallycross endeavor," Villeneuve stated.

The motorsports legend returns to Trois-Rivières, a circuit he knows well from competing rallycross and road course racing and where his father, racing legend Gilles Villeneuve raced at many times. His debut in Americas Rallycross will come in the championship's third event of 2018 after hosting successful events at Speedmachine Festival in Silverstone and just two weeks ago at DirtFish ARX of Circuit of The Americas.

For Subaru, it's an honor to have a driver with the pedigree of Jacques' caliber driving one of its cars.

"Jacques Villeneuve is a global motorsport icon, and Subaru is excited to welcome him to Americas Rallycross behind the wheel of a WRX STI," said William Stokes, Motorsports Manager for Subaru of America. "With his local background and tremendous success in American racing, Jacques will be a thrill for both Canadian and U.S. fans."

GP3R General Manager, Dominic Fugère, is pleased to welcome Villeneuve back and to see him on its track in the new highly-exciting ARX Championship.

"Jacques is part of the GP3R family. We're always happy to have him back. It's a treat for our local fans to once again have a native son to cheer on in rallycross," said Mr. Fugère.

Jacques Villeneuve will be at the wheel of a Subaru WRX STI at GP3R, August 4-5, as the ARX supercars take on the GP3R track. A test and press conference, where Villeneuve and the team will meet representatives from the media, are planned for Wednesday, August 2 at Circuit ICAR, in Mirabel.
