APC & Qwick Wick Tours Share the Peterborough Speedway Weekend Spotlight

Home track divisions share the stage with touring series during the 2023 schedule at Peterborough Speedway. Saturday, June 17th KOD Disposal presents an APC Pro Late Model 100 and the Qwick Wick Firestarter 50-lap main events at Canada's Toughest 3rd Mile Oval. Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock and Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck racing will also be part of the show.

 

"This is one of our most anticipated events of the regular season," said track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse. "Fans have become familiar with many of the names running with each series and the show has taken on the feel of a national tour since its inception in 2015."

 

In 2022, Peterborough Speedway returned to the Pro Late Model schedule for the first time since 2018, with J.R. Fitzpatrick taking the win over Andrew Gresel and Jake Sheridan. Shawn Chenoweth and Brandon Watson – with 2 each – also had Late Model wins. Jason Parker took the Super Stock checkered flag, with Shawn Chenoweth, Lane Zardo, Carson Nagy and Pete Vanderwyst completing the top 5. Brandon Feeney was the top finishing home track regular with a 10th place finish. Carson Nagy claimed the Super Stock win in 2021.

 

On the home front, 2022 track champion Kyle Gordon and Chad Strawn have picked-up the Renegade Truck division feature race wins, with Sean Kennedy and Jake Kelly earning the Bone Stock main event victories. Even through it is still early in the year, Gordon has a 4-point cushion over Strawn in the pick-up points while Kelly has a 3-point bulge over Kennedy in the Bone Stock battle.

 

General admission passes for the Saturday, June 17th APC Pro Late Model/Qwick Wick Super Stock double-dip, presented by KOD Disposal are available online or as a cash only transaction on raceday. Pit gates will open at 12:30, with grandstands unlocked at 3:00. Racing starts at 5:00.

Louis-Philippe Dumoulin à la recherche d'une première victoire dans les Chaudières

 

Parmi ses 11 victoires en NASCAR Pinty's, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin a gagné sur cinq des 11 circuits actifs de la série. Cependant, il y a un circuit ovale à conquérir : l'Autodrome Chaudière.

Lors de ses sept départs à Vallée-Jonction, au Québec, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin a obtenu deux podiums, quatre top-5, cinq top-10, deux bourses E3 Spark Plug Pole et a mené 338 tours, un record sur ce circuit. L'année dernière, il a décroché la pole position, mené 54 tours et terminé quatrième. 

« Nous avons très souvent obtenu de bons résultats à l'Autodrome Chaudière. C'est aussi un circuit que je connais très bien, car c'est en quelque sorte notre piste d'essais », mentionne le triple champion de la série. « J'apprécie la piste, avec ses virages à 18° ainsi que l'ambiance, car il y a toujours des milliers d'amateurs de course dans les tribunes pour notre course annuelle à cet endroit. »

Considérée comme une des pistes uniques de la série, Chaudière se distingue par ses murs emblématiques d'un vert éclatant et ses courses serrées où les pilotes roulent côte-à-côte. C'est aussi l'un des circuits les plus intenses et spectaculaires pour les coureurs et amateurs. 

 « Tout dépendra du nombre de neutralisations sur l'ensemble de la course. S'il y a des neutralisations en début d'épreuve nous savons tous que les jaunes attirent les jaunes », explique Louis-Philippe Dumoulin. « D'un autre côté, si nous sommes en mesure de faire un long relais sur drapeau vert, il sera important d'être patient, éviter les contacts et se battre intelligemment pour accumuler des points au championnat. »

Après une saison 2022 sans victoire, Dumoulin est optimiste en vue de remporter des victoires cette saison. L'équipe n°47 WeatherTech Canada / Groupe Bellemare s'est rendue à Chaudière pour une séance d'essais au cours des dernières semaines et estime retrouver son rythme d'attaque. 

« La séance d'essais a été un succès, nous avons trouvé des détails à améliorer sur la voiture, ce qui nous rend confiants pour la course de samedi », souligne Louis-Philippe Dumoulin. « Peu importe où la course a lieu, nos essais sont effectués à l'Autodrome Chaudière parce que c'est non seulement une piste exigeante, mais aussi celle qui est la plus près de notre atelier mécanique, à Trois-Rivières. »

« Je vais évidemment travailler très fort pour amener la voiture n°47 WeatherTech Canada / Groupe Bellemare sur le chemin de la victoire, mais je pense aussi au championnat. »

Guénette participe à un programme en hommage à Dale Earnhardt avec GM Paillé 

Alex Guénette a récemment annoncé que lui et Ed Hakonson Racing s'associaient à GM Paillé pour les trois courses au Québec cette saison.

De plus, la Chevrolet no3 GM Paillé / ASSA ABLOY arborera une peinture spéciale pour célébrer le 75e anniversaire de NASCAR - un hommage à Dale Earnhardt GM GoodWrench. 

« Je suis très enthousiaste à l'idée de cette association. Je discute depuis longtemps avec Jean-Claude [Paillé] et nous sommes heureux d'en arriver à ce partenariat pour 2023 », explique Guénette. 

Lancé ce samedi à l'Autodrome Chaudière, les amateurs pourront également admirer le lettrage unique de la voiture, en piste au Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières (5 et 6 août), que Guénette a remporté la saison dernière, et au Circuit ICAR (26 août).

Sam Fellows de retour avec le soutien de GM Paillé

Plus tôt cette semaine, Sam Fellows a annoncé qu'il ferait son retour dans la série avec un nouveau commanditaire et un nouveau numéro de voiture. 

Fellows courra sous le nouveau nom de Fellows McGraw Racing (FMR). L'équipe FMR utilisera des Chevrolet Camaro fournies par GM Paillé Racing et portera le numéro 87. 

Bien que le nombre de courses n'ait pas encore été déterminé, Fellows a indiqué que l'équipe a l'intention de participer à la fois à des circuits ovales et routiers, en commençant par le Bud Light 300 à l'Autodrome Chaudière ce samedi. 

« Tout d'abord, je dois remercier Jean-Claude Paillé pour son aide. Avoir l'opportunité de courir avec l'équipement Paillé et représenter la marque est un honneur », s'exclame Fellows. 

En plus du soutien de GM Paillé, l'équipe FMR sera appuyée par le partenaire de longue date AER Manufacturing, ainsi que par l'entreprise canadienne de matelas Polysleep au Québec. Le numéro 87 de FMR sera lettrée en hommage aux succès de la voiture de Ron Fellows en série NASCAR Craftsman Truck en 1999 avec NEMCO Motorsports.

« Quand je repense à l'histoire de ma famille en NASCAR, le numéro 87 est celui qui me vient le plus à l'esprit. Je me souviens que mon père [Ron Fellows] a gagné des courses avec la 87, avec l'aide de AER et Bully Hill Vineyards. Ce partenariat avec les Nemechek et le chef d'équipe Brian Pattie était vraiment une combinaison gagnante. »

Séries NASCAR Pinty's etc. 

  • Mathieu Kingsbury prendra son premier départ de la saison 2023 ce week-end à Chaudière. Le natif de Blainville, Québec, a pris part à quatre courses l'an dernier, son meilleur résultat (14e) ayant été obtenu à Vallée-Jonction et au circuit ICAR. 
  • Plusieurs autres pilotes de circuit ovale seront de retour cette fin de semaine. Donald Theetge est un pilote qui a une feuille de route impressionnante à l'Autodrome Chaudière. Il a mené 128 tours, a obtenu trois top-5 et une pole position. L'an dernier, il a pris le départ en deuxième position aux côtés de Louis-Philippe Dumoulin, mais il a terminé 21e, après avoir connu des difficultés en fin de course. Les pilotes de Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador, Josh Collins et Brandon McFarlane, seront également de retour ce week-end pour leur deuxième départ de la saison 2023. 
  • Le Bud Light 300 à l'Autodrome Chaudière sera diffusé en direct sur TSN+ au Canada et sur FloRacing aux États-Unis à 17 h 15 ce samedi 10 juin 2023. La course sera diffusée en différé sur TSN le samedi 17 juin à 17 h 30 et sur RDS2 le dimanche 25 juin à 17 h 30 HE.

L.P. Dumoulin Searching For Maiden Chaudière Victory

Over his 11 NASCAR Pinty's victories, L.P. Dumoulin has won at five of the 11 active tracks in the series. However, there is one oval on the schedule that has plagued the driver - Autodrome Chaudière.

Across his seven starts at the Vallée-Jonction, Que. bullring, Dumoulin has amassed two podium finishes, four top-fives, five top-tens, two E3 Spark Plug Pole Awards, and has led 338 laps, a record at the track. Last year he won the pole, led 54 laps, and finished fourth. 

"We very often obtained good results at Autodrome Chaudière. It is also a track that I know very well because it is like our test track," said Dumoulin. "I like the track, with its 18° banked turns, but also the atmosphere as there are always thousands of race fans in the grandstands for our annual race there."

Labelled one of the more unique tracks on the series circuit, Chaudière stands apart with its iconic, bright green walls, and tight, side-by-side racing. It is also one of the most high-octane and dramatic for drivers and fans. 

 "Everything will depend on the number of full-course yellows. If there are yellow flags early in the event, we all know the expression 'yellows bring yellows'," said Dumoulin. "On the other side, if we're able to make a long run on the green, it'll be important to be patient, avoid contact and aim for the points."

After a winless 2022 season, Dumoulin is optimistic that a checkered flag is coming. The No. 47 team visited Chaudière for a test session during the most recent off-weeks and feel that they are starting to build positive momentum. 

"The [test] session was successful, we were able to find small things to improve on the car, which gives us great confidence for the race on Saturday," explained Dumoulin. "No matter where the race takes place, our tests are always done at the Autodrome Chaudière because it's not only a demanding track but also the closest to our race shop, in Trois-Rivières."

"I will obviously work very hard to bring car #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare Dodge on the way to victory but I am also thinking of the championship."

 

Guenette to Race Dale Earnhardt Tribute Paint Scheme with GM Paillé 

Alex Guenette recently announced that he and Ed Hakonson Racing would be joining forces with GM Paillé for the three Quebec races this season.

Additionally, the No. 3 GM Paillé/ASSA ABLOY Chevrolet will sport a special paint scheme to celebrate NASCAR's 75th anniversary - a Dale Earnhardt GM GoodWrench tribute. 

"I'm very primed for this association. I have been talking with Jean-Claude [Paillé] for a long time and we are happy to come up with this partnership for 2023," said Guenette. 

Debuting this Saturday at Autodrome Chaudière, fans will also be able to see the paint scheme on track at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières (August 5 & 6), which Guenette won last season, and at Circuit ICAR (August 26).

Sam Fellows Returns with GM Paillé Backing

Earlier this week, Sam Fellows announced that he would be making his return to the series with a new sponsor and new car number. 

Fellows will compete under the newly minted Fellows McGraw Racing (FMR) name. The FMR team will compete with Chevrolet Camaro race cars provided by GM Paillé Racing and will sport the No. 87. 

While the number of races has yet to be determined, Fellows indicated the team intends to compete at both ovals and road courses, starting with the Bud Light 300 at Autodrome Chaudière this Saturday. 

"First off I have to thank JC Paillé for his help on this, being able to race with Paillé equipment and represent the brand is an incredible honour," said Fellows. 

In addition to the support from GM Paillé, the FMR entry will be supported by longtime sponsor AER Manufacturing, along with support in Quebec from Canadian mattress company Polysleep. The FMR number 87 will sport a livery that pays tribute to Ron Fellows' 1999 AER NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series winning car with NEMCO Motorsports.

"When I think back on my family's history in NASCAR, the number 87 is the one that sticks out to me. I remember Dad [Ron Fellows] winning races in the 87 with sponsorship from AER and Bully Hill Vineyards. That partnership with the Nemecheks and crew chief Brian Pattie was truly a winning combination."

NASCAR Pinty's Series etc.

He's led 128 laps, has three top-fives and a pole award. Last year he started second alongside Dumoulin but after struggles late in the race, he finished 21st.   • The Bud Light 300 at Autodrome Chaudière will stream live on TSN+ in Canada and on FloRacing in the United States at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2023. The race will broadcast on tape-delay on TSN on Saturday, June 17 at 5:30 p.m. and on RDS2 on Sunday, June 25 at 5:30 p.m. ET.

Temperatures may have soared to record-setting levels through the week but nothing could match the on-track heat created – Saturday, June 3rd – at Canada's Toughest 3rd Mile Oval.

 

Peterborough Speedway's first feature event of the new month was a 25-lap showcase for the Trailers Plus Canadian Legend Car Series, with Jordan Latimer and Dawson Drimmie on the front row. Latimer took the lead at the drop of the green flag, with Parker Traves moving into 2nd. Traves would get around Latimer with a pass coming-off the second turn, bringing Drimmie along for the ride. The lead duo enjoyed a 2-car breakaway until a yellow with 13 laps complete slowed the pace. Adam Cuthbertson picked-up 2nd with about 10 laps remaining and Cole McFadden cracked the top-3. The No. 60 of Traves had a strong lead and wasn't challenged over the closing stages. Drimmie, Latimer, Cuthbertson and McFadden were next across the stripe.

 

With 30 laps to settle the score, the KOD Disposal Late Model pack came to the stripe 17 strong, with reigning track champion James Townsend and James Horner on the front row. Townsend and Horner ran nearly identical, side-by-side laps during the early stages of the event, before Horner took control with just over a handful of circuits complete. As the leaders started catching the back of the pack, the caution flag flew with 8 laps on the scoreboard. Ryan Kimball moved into the runner-up position on the restart, with Derek Lynch sliding into 3rd. With several yellow flags over the final laps, the top spot changed hands between Dan McHattie and Kimball, with McHattie getting the win in a late race shootout. Daniel Montanari – in his first career Peterborough Speedway start – was 2nd, with Brandt Graham, Lynch and Townsend completing the top 5.

Victoria McLenon and John Bates brought the Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock field from the staging area for their 20-lap main event. Bates was the early leader, with Sean Kennedy looking to take the spot. The No. 23 of Tegan Stanley was also having a strong run, with Jake Kelly in the middle of the 4-car hunt for the lead. The quartet was working through slower traffic when Kennedy seized the moment to make a pass that would see him take the first Bone Stock win of the 2023 schedule. Kelly, Stanley and Bates were next at the checkered flag, with the No. 09 of Cory Horne 5th.

 

Erin Kearns and Brandon Feeney were on the front row as the SwitchTire Mini Stock field rolled to the Great Canadian TV green flag for a headline dance. With just short of a dozen teams in the line-up, the pack turned some solid times in their 20-lapper. Coming from deep in the running order, last week's feature winner Nolan Gould battled his way to the lead and held-on for his second straight Mini Stock trip to Dart Heating & Air Conditioning Victory Lane. Chris Tubman, Ember Junkin, Kearns and Victor Vowles chased Gould to the winner's circle.

 

Nick Spiesz and Mike Bradley were on the front row for the 25-lap Outlaw Midget feature to wrap-up action on the second racing night of the year. Spiesz took the early lead, with the Bradley Brothers, Larry Lawson and Rob Harrison on his tail as the leaders began putting slower cars a lap down. A late race yellow flag created a last chance charge for the win. Mike Bradley took the checkered flag, with Harrison, Jason Metcalfe, Fred Homewood and Kayla Semple next across the line.

Ember Junkin and Chris Tubman shared the Mini Stock preliminary rounds, while Dan McHattie picked-up a pair of Late Model heat races wins, with the others going to James Horner and Daniel Montanari. Jake Kelly swept the Bone Stock qualifiers, with Parker Traves, Adam Cuthbertson, Dawson Drimmie and Mitch Wright scoring the Canadian Legend Car opening round checkered flags. Qualifying heat wins for the Outlaw Midgets went to Nick Spiesz, Dave Bradley, Mike Bradley and Larry Lawson.

 

All finishing positions are unofficial and subject to scoring review and post race safety and technical inspection.

 

Bullring bullet points: Brandt Graham – a former Peterborough Speedway Mini Stock racer, 2-time Ontario Sportsman Series champion and current Dirt Late Model runner – returned to his racing roots and joined the Late Model field on one of his rare nights off…Recent Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame Inductee Derek Lynch had his No. 15 machine in the starting line-up for the Late Model division…Mark Gordon was on-hand with his No. 52 Late Model, but mechanical issues during practice sidelined his night before he turned a racing lap…13-year-old Keaton Pipe – a graduate of the karting ranks – continues to develop in the next stage of his racing career, running the No. 25 machine with the Canadian Legend Car Series.

Next on Peterborough Speedway's 2023 schedule will be the year's first Double Toonie/Fan Appreciation Night – presented by Pepsi – Saturday, June 10th. On track action for the local racing divisions will include the Bone Stock, Mini Stock, Renegade Truck, Super Stock and Junior Late Model teams. Spectator grandstand admission will be $4.00, with a trackside driver autograph session at intermission. Pit gates open at 1:30, grandstands at 4:00 and racing at 5:00.

Innisfil, Ontario – Race one of the 2023 NASCAR Pinty's season was dominated by one driver – Treyten Lapcevich.

But his victory wasn't without a challenge.

After topping the leaderboards in practice and qualifying and leading the first 246 laps of the 250-lap race, Lapcevich seemed untouchable.

It wasn't until a late caution with eight to go, that it became anyone's race to win.

Alex Guenette, who restarted the race from second on the final restart, took the lead with two to go.

While victory was insight for Guenette, the driver of the No. 20 FBM/Delta Bingo Chevrolet was still close behind. In the final corner, Lapcevich got to Guenette's inside, made contact, and drove through on his way to his third win of his NASCAR career, while the No. 3 ASSA ABLOY / Motos Illimitées Chevrolet finished second.

"Those restarts got nerve racking," said Lapcevich. "A hole opened up in turn three on that last lap and we were able to get it done.

The only laps that Lapcevich did not lead were held by Guenette, who starts the season with his new team, Ed Hakonson Racing.

"I gave it all I had there. Got the lead with one lap to go but just came up short," said Guenette. "Gives us a lot of confidence for the rest of the season".

Kevin Lacroix, who was a close contender in the three-way battle for the lead on the final restart, finished the race in third, ahead of reigning champion Marc-Antoine Camirand, and Donald Theetge, who rounded out the top-five.

D.J. Kennington, L.P. Dumoulin, J.P. Bergeron, Larry Jackson, and Brandon Watson finished sixth through 10th respectively.

The 2023 NASCAR Pinty's season will continue next weekend, Sunday, May 21, at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario. The race can be streamed live on TSN+ and FloRacing.

Innisfil, Ontario, le 14 mai 2023 - La première course de la saison 2023 de la série NASCAR Pinty's a été dominée par un pilote - Treyten Lapcevich.

Toutefois, cette victoire ne s'est pas été réalisée sans défi.

Lapcevich semblait intouchable après avoir terminé en tête des essais et des qualifications et avoir mené les 246 premiers tours de la course de 250 tours.

Alors qu'il ne restait que huit tours avant de croiser le fil d'arrivée, une neutralisation joue les trouble-fête, et la victoire devient à la portée du peloton de tête.

Alex Guénette, en deuxième position lors de cette ultime relance, prend la tête à deux tours de la fin.

La victoire semble acquise pour Guénette toutefois, le pilote de la Chevrolet n°20 FBM/Delta Bingo est juste derrière lui. Dans le dernier virage, Lapcevich se positionne à l'intérieur de Guénette, entre en contact avec lui et le dépasse pour remporter sa troisième victoire en carrière NASCAR Pinty's, tandis que la Chevrolet n°3 ASSA ABLOY / Motos Illimitées d'Alex Guénette termine deuxième. 

« Les relances ont été éprouvantes, » déclare Lapcevich. « Une ouverture s'est présentée dans le troisième virage, au dernier tour, nous permettant de passer devant Guénette. »

Les seuls tours que Lapcevich n'a pas menés l'ont été par Guénette, qui commençait sa saison avec une nouvelle équipe, Ed Hakonson Racing.

« J'ai donné tout ce que j'avais. J'ai pris la tête à un tour de l'arrivée, sans réussir à l'emporter », explique Guenette. « Cela nous donne beaucoup de confiance pour le reste de la saison. »

Kevin Lacroix, qui était un proche participant dans la bataille à trois pour la tête lors de la dernière relance, termine la course en troisième place, devant le champion en titre Marc-Antoine Camirand et Donald Theetge, qui complète le top-5.

D.J. Kennington, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin, J.P. Bergeron, Larry Jackson et Brandon Watson terminent respectivement de la sixième à la dixième place.

La saison 2023 de la série NASCAR Pinty's se poursuit le week-end prochain, dimanche 21 mai, au Canadian Tire Motorsport Park de Bowmanville, en Ontario. La course sera diffusée en direct sur TSN+ et FloRacing.

Rescheduled Peterborough Speedway Opener Draws a Strong Crowd

It was a week later than originally expected but Peterborough Speedway was able to get its Pure Country 105 Season Opener in the record books Saturday, May 27th.

 

A 20-lap feature tilt for the Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Trucks, with Shawn Murray and reigning track champion Kyle Gordon on the front row. From his outside line starting spot, Gordon grabbed the early lead, with Paul Boundy looking to take over the runner-up spot. A quick yellow flag just past the halfway mark brought the pack back together and saw Boundy move into second on the restart. The No. 52 of Gordon held back the charge for a trip to Dart Heating & Air Conditioning victory lane, with Boundy, Stephen Bierworth, Murray and Jack Dallin completing the top 5.

 

Jakob Spencer-Walt and Carson Cousineau paced a strong field of Kingsway Auto Centre Junior Late Models to the green flag for their 15-lap feature tilt. From the drop of the green flag, Spencer-Walt took off like he'd been shot from a cannon, turning laps that were in the high 18 second mark. The young speedster was never challenged and took the win over Chase Cousineau, Keegan Moat, Chase Stevenson and Landon Sellers.

 

With 50-laps of action on the line, Victor Vowles and Kevin Strutt brought the SwitchTire Mini Stock field to the stripe for the season opening marathon. Strutt – who announced his retirement from weekly racing late in the 2022 season – had his Dodge Daytona set for battle and took the early lead. Nolan Gould took the position away from Strutt with a trio of laps complete and other than a couple of restarts – after lap 7 and 35 yellow flags – kept Strutt in his rear-view mirror. Chris Tubman moved into 2nd with about a handful of laps remaining, with Strutt, Vowles and James Townsend completing the top 5.

 

Newcome Gerrit Tiemersma and Paul Boundy led the Jiffy Lube Super Stock pack from the staging area with a 20-lap 'A' main set to roll. Crowd favourite Marlie Owen moved into 2nd spot early, with Anthony DiBello and Brandon Feeney bringing their dogs into the fight. Following a lap 6 caution, DiBello moved into second spot and took the lead with only 4 circuits remaining. Tiemersma was 2nd – in his debut as a Peterborough Speedway regular – with Owen, Jeremy Dobb and Feeney rounding-out the fast 5 at the checkered flag.

 

Reigning series champion Alex Cuzzilla and past titleholder John Baker Jr. were on the front row as the GEN-3 Electrical Ontario Modifieds Racing Series teams concluded the opening night's action with a 25-lap feature run. Cuzzilla took the lead early but surrendered the position to Baker Jr. as the crowd watched Chad Strawn become the 3rd race leader in less than 3 completed laps. An early yellow flag may have slowed the pace, but Strawn was still in control of the field as the pack started working through the backmarkers with just over 10 laps left. Wheeling a ride now carrying No. 35, Strawn earned his first win of the year over Baker Jr., Cuzzilla, Bob Franks and Shane Pollock.

 

Chad Strawn had a pair of Renegade Truck heat race wins, with the others going to Paul Boundy and reigning track champion Kyle Gordon. Jake Spencer-Walt and Lucas Cousineau held the hot hand in the Junior Late Models with a pair of qualifying round wins each. Lyla Sikma – with the first wins of her career - had a pair of opening round checkered flags. In Mini Stock preliminary action, James Townsend scored a couple of wins. Ember Junkin and Rob Crick had the others. Anthony DiBello, Marlie Owen, Paul Boundy and Miles Tyson each had a Super Stock qualifier win, with Chad Strawn sweeping the OMRS heat races.

 

Cole Cousineau picked-up the win in the Junior Late Model 'B' feature.

 

All finishing positions are unofficial and subject to scoring review as well as post-race safety and technical inspection.

 

Bullring bullet points: Some familiar faces made their return to action at Canada's Toughest 3rd Mile Oval for the 2023 opener. Former track champion Jack Dallin was back behind the wheel of a No. 67 Renegade Truck, while Andrew Massey – who has a background in Legend Cars and Mini Stocks – was on-hand for his first laps with OMRS. His return was cut short when he made contact with the 3rd turn wall during the pre-race practice sessions…Junior Late Model runner Carson Cousineau rolled his No. 11 machine in the first qualifying heat. The driver was unhurt and returned later for the feature event…After a pair of heat race wins, Chad Strawn saw his Renegade Truck feature race debut sidelined by mechanical woes.

 

The 2023 Pure Country 105 Opening Night activities wrapped-up with a display by Supernova Fireworks. www.supernovafireworks.ca. 

 

Action returns to Canada's Toughest 3rd Mile Paved Oval Saturday, June 3rd with the home track Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock, SwitchTire Mini Stock and KOD Disposal Late Model divisions, along with the Trailers Plus Canadian Legend Car Series and Outlaw Midgets, with Kid's Rides as the intermission feature. Pit gates open at 2:30, with spectator grandstands at 5:00 and the night's first green flag at 6:00.
