En route to Daytona
Derek White de Kahnawake, QC en a surpris plusieurs quand il s’est inscrit à Martinsville dans l’épreuve NASCAR Camping World Trucks, peut de gens s’attendaient à cela. Il en a surpris encore plus alors qu’il a bien fait en qualification et a même suivi la cadence en course étant à un tour des meneurs à la mi-course. Une fois la poussière retombée, il a terminé à 12 tours du meneur… pas mal pour avoir eu à remplacer une batterie pour pallier au problème d’alternateur. | Kahnawake, QC’s Derek White surprised many when the Martinsville NASCAR Camping World Trucks entry list was published, few expected his name to be on it. He surprised many more and maybe even himself when he qualified well, kept up with the field going down only one lap by the half way point. When it was all over, he finished twelve laps behind the leader... not bad at all when you consider his crew had to replace the battery to compensate for a bad alternator. |

“Nous avons réussi beaucoups plus que prévu. Je n’avais bouclé qu’une vingtaine de tours, sur une piste non loin, afin de me familiariser avec les interrupteurs, les cadrans et la positions du pédaliers et du volant“ déclara White. | “We did much more than expected. I had only sat in the truck for 20 laps or so in at a nearby track in order to get acquainted with the switches, the dials and the feel for the pedals and steering wheel” said White. |

White pilotait un camion qu’il a acheté des frères Mario et Germain Gosselin, des natifs de Scott Jonction, QC. Ils sont propriétaires de DGM Enterprises à Lake Whales en Floride qui a préparé le camion, fournit l’équipe et fait la location d’une moteur neuf pour l’épreuve de Martinsville. | White was driving a truck he purchased from Scott Jonction, QC natives Mario and Germain Gosselin. They own and operate DGM Enterprises out of Lake Whales, FLA who prepared the truck, supplied the crew and leased White a brand new power plant for the Martinsville event. |

This allows him to race on tracks up to a mile, such as .... Phoenix International Raceway” commented Robert Bosisio his Quebec based crew chief. |

Ce weekend Bosisio est au Texas Motor Speedway, une piste de 1.5 mile quad-oval intermédiaire, localise à Fort Worth au Texas. Il coopère avec Mario Gosselin qui sera dans l’épreuve de camion Win Star World Casino 350 ce vendredi. Bosisio est là pour apprendre le plus possible dans un court laps de temps des particularités des Camping World Trucks. | This weekend Bosisio is at Texas Motor Speedway, a 1.5 mile quad-oval intermediate track, located in Fort Worth, TX. He is there working with Mario Gosselin who is going to race in the Win Star World Casino 350 truck race on Friday. Bosisio is trying to learn as much as he can as quickly as possible about the Camping World trucks. |

Bosisio et les Gosselin travailleront à nouveau ensemble la semaine prochain quand ils appuierons la première participation de White sur une piste d’un mile. « Mon objectif est de courir à Daytona en février soit dans une voiture ARCA ou dans un camion » déclara White. « Mais avant nous devons bien faire à Phoenix. Et après, si NASCAR nous donne le ok, nous irons à Homestead la semaine suivante » ajouta-t-il. | Bosisio and the Gosselins will be working again together the following week when they will back White’s first start on a 1 mile track. “My goal is to make it to Daytona in February in an ARCA car or in a truck” said White. “But first we need to pass this next test, which is to do well at Phoenix. And if that works well and NASCAR likes what they see, we will go to Homestead the following week” he added. |
“Si nous allons à Homestead c’est que Derek aura bien piloté et aura réussi à se ternir loin des pièges“ commenta Bosisio. Il pilotera le même camion qu’il avait à Martinsville. « Participer à Homestead voudra aussi dire que nous avons survécu à Phoenix, remis le camion en ordre et se rendre – un voyage de 35 heures – jusqu’à Homestead d’ici jeudi. Bien des si. Mais nous sommes tous déterminer à y arriver.” | “If we get to go to Homestead it will be because Derek will have driven smart and stayed out of trouble” said Bosisio. He will be driving the same truck he drove at Martinsville. “Going to Homestead would also mean we survived Phoenix, put it back together in race ready shape and drive it back east - which is a 35 hour drive – to Homestead by Thursday. Lots of ifs. But everyone is determined to make it happend.” |
