Pro All Stars Series News = PASS North Spud 150 recap
For immediate release: Media contact Norm Desjardins @ (603) 387-5598 PASS North win number four for Johnny Clark at Spud NAPLES ME (8/23) Pro All Stars Series point leader Johnny Clark got back to his winning ways Saturday night, claiming his fourth PASS super late model win of 2010 at Caribou Maine’s Spud Speedway. The defending series champ topped Trevor Sanborn and Scott Chubbuck to earn the victory. |
Clark took over the lead on lap 25 after starting twelfth on the grid and kept his Clark’s Car Crushing Chevrolet out front to the checkers Gary Drew posted his best finish since taking on the majority of the PASS North schedule with a fourth place result; Ben Rowe completed the top five. The win was Clark’s first since June when the Farmingdale Maine hot shoe racked up three in a row. While July was good to Clark with three top three results paired with a fifth and seventh, title nemesis Ben Rowe scored two wins and four top fives in the busy month of racing. Rowe’s only black mark in the five race stretch came at Beech Ridge where he finished eleventh. Clark’s win comes at just the right time for the four time champion and his team. Prior to the super late model series’ first visit to Spud, the points gap between Clark and Rowe had narrowed to ten markers, and the championship momentum looked like it was on Rowe’s side. Now Clark will carry the momentum to Scarborough Maine’s Beech Ridge Motor Speedway on September 11 and 12 for the sixth annual PASS 400 Weekend, round four of the PASS National Championship Series and the biggest race of the year for Northeast super late model racers. PASS South point leader Preston Peltier leads North Carolina’s Jay Fogleman by eleven in the National standings. Look for that pair to make the trip to Beech Ridge to take on Rowe and Clark, who sit in third and fourth respectively in the National title chase. The PASS South super late models get back in gear with two big events in the next two weeks. The SoBo 150 at Virginia’s South Boston Speedway gets the green on Saturday August 28th and then it’s on to North Wilkesboro Speedway for the PASS Labor Day Classic September 3-4 as the Pro All Stars Series brings racing back to the famous North Carolina oval after a fourteen year hiatus.
