KYLE HIEBER VICTORIOUS IN SPEEDSTR MAIN AT NEW EGYPT SPEEDWAY.. Myerstown PA, August 22nd, 2010:The SpeedSTR series made their return to New Egypt Speedway for their last of a 4 race series on the "D" shaped oval with young gun Kyle Hieber visiting victory lane. |
Kyle Hieber (Langhorne, PA) showed he had the hot setup from the drop of the green flag. K. Hieber would quickly jump into the lead by the end of lap one from his third place starting position, by overtaking the entire front row of older brother Gary Hieber Jr. (Langhorne, PA) and the Kiwi Farms machine of Doug Sherwood (Piscataway, NJ). Gary Jr. hung tough with his younger brother as the "Hurricane" Gary Huber stormed into third from starting sixth on the grid. The two Hieber's and Huber dueled it out for the lead using up the entire New Egypt Speedway as the hot shoe from Milford, NJ, Tyler Potts rocketed into the picture. Meanwhile point leader Mario Page (Hillsborough, NJ) had found the fast line driving back through the field after being relegated to the rear early in the feature event, followed closely by 58 year old Scott Munroe (Leesport, PA). The closing laps would feature a heated tussle with the THP Racing #12 of Potts locked in the tire tracks of the Bucks County International #66 of Hieber who would go on to collect the $800.00 payday. Page would settle for third followed by Munroe, with Matt Dealaman (Warren, NJ) a top runner in the Slingshot division rounding out the top five in his STR début. STR Pit Notes: Steve Adams (Forked River, NJ) was extremely impressive making his début in the #5 Bulldog rental. Adams ran in the top five the entire event and was in third in the closing laps only to get loose off of turn four collecting the 11 of Josh Sell (Schnecksville, PA) who was also having his best run of the season. Darrell Delnero a competitor in the NES Sportsman division was back in a SpeedSTR for the second consecutive race aboard the Lowes DR1. Delnero ran in the top five before going pit side with brake issues. 58 year old Scott Munroe showed more of the diversity the SpeedSTR series has to offer. The series has competitors ranging from 14 years old (Rahmer's & Johnson) to 58 years old (Munroe) along with the 15 year old female hot shoe of Brittany Wixon all doing battle with one another race after race.
