For immediate release – Airborne Speedway – 090712-1 SOUTH PLATTSBURGH – Kenny Tremont Jr. of West Sand Lake, no stranger to season-finale wins at Airborne Speedway, will attempt to reach the 300 career-wins mark on the Plattsburgh asphalt half-mile in the $5,000-to-win Akwesasne Mohawk Casino DIRTcar 358 Modified Shootout Sunday, September 9. |
The future Hall-of-Famer has 162 Big-Block Modified wins and 137 Small-Block Modifieds wins including two wins this season at Albany Saratoga Speedway where he has 14 top-5 finishes and is currently second in the point standings. Tremont has 34 track championships (17 big-block /17 small-block) at six tracks - Lebanon Valley, Albany-Saratoga, Devil’s Bowl, New Venture (NY), Rolling Wheels, and Cayuga County Fairgrounds. In 2010, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the New York State Stock Car Racing Association. The Akewesasne Mohawk casino Modified Shootout is the final event of the DIRTcar 358 Modified Asphalt Series. The event consists of three 50-lap segments. After each segment, the field is inverted to set the next line-up. The lowest total of combined finishes determines the overall winner. Pat McGrail of Candiac, QC the 2012 Airborne Modified Runner-up enters the race with a 10-point lead over Albany-Saratoga regular Matt DeLorenzo of Cropseyville. Entrants include 2012 Airborne Ernie’s Discount Tools Modified Champion Todd Stone of Middlebury, Vt., two-time Airborne champion Patrick Dupree of Saranac Lake, former Mr. DIRT 358 Modified Mario Clair of Drummondville, QC, prior Airborne champions George Foley and Leon Gonyo, Aaron Bartemy, Andy Heywood, Greg Atkins, Adam Bartemy and Maxime Viens of St-Cesaire, QC. Sunday’s race card, presented by Della Auto Group and Morrisonville Septic, includes championship events for the J&S Steel Limited Late Models, Sportsman Modifieds and Renegades.
