STECKLY SECOND IN CLARINGTON 200
Monday June 24, 2013, Bowmanville, ON: Scott Steckly driver of the 22 Racing/Canadian Tire Dodge battled all day and crossed the finish line second in the Clarington 200 on Saturday night in the third event of the 2013 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. At the drop of the green flag for the Clarington 200 Steckly dropped back to fifth for the first few laps. An opening occurred and he was able to smoothly pass for the fourth position. By lap 15 Steckly was up to third and on the bumper of the front two cars. He then dropped back to seventh as the handling started to go away on the long green flag run. A great pit stop by his crew got him back out on the track in 4th and he steadily moved up from there. With a next to last lap pass on the #84 car, Steckly finished a solid second. |
“We have been trying some new stuff this year which is making us fast on the short runs but not as good on the longer runs,” said Steckly after the race. “A second is not a win, but after the start we have had it almost feels like one.” Steckly and the team were satisfied with his performance at the final NASCAR Canadian Tire Series race event at this historic facility, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park the Speedway. The oval track is closing late in July to make way for a new Driver Development Centre to go along with all of the other major upgrades happening at this facility. The Clarington 200 will air on TSN/TSN2 on Sunday June 30 at 1:00 p.m. and on RDS/RDS2 on Friday July 19 at 11:00 p.m. Scott Steckly and the 22 Racing Team is supported by the following sponsors: Canadian Tire, Sylvania, Mobil 1, Erb Group, Johnsonville and AW Millwrights.
