ACT Tour Makes Regular Season Debut at Autodrome Chaudiere

Vallée-Jct., QC – The American-Canadian Tour (ACT) U.S and Série ACT head to Vallée-Jct., QC's Autodrome Chaudiere this Saturday, September 12 for the Chaudiere Twin 200s. The ACT Late Models and the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models will both run 200-lap main events in the doubleheader for the two series.
The ACT combination event is the inaugural point-counting race for the ACT U.S. Tour at Chaudiere. Select U.S. drivers previously visited the speedway for the "Showdown at Chaudiere" invitational event held from 2008-2012, but many Tour regulars will be making their debut at the 1/3-mile oval. Even drivers such as two-time ACT Champion Wayne Helliwell Jr. will have their work cut out for them to get up to speed.
"It will definitely be interesting, because we have no notes to go on to go back there," Dover, NH's Helliwell said. "From what I remember (at the Showdown), the track is an interesting combination between Thunder Road and White Mountain – it had a lot of banking and was really tight. Hopefully between those two tracks we can come up with a good setup."
All eyes will be on the scintillating ACT U.S. Tour championship battle. Defending ACT Champion Joey Polewarczyk Jr. of Hudson, NH leads Helliwell by a single point with three point-counting races remaining on the 2015 calendar. "Joey Pole" has the upper hand after his fifth win of the season in the Tour's most recent event at Circuit Riverside Speedway.
"It seems like neither one of us can really capitalize on the other having a bad day, and we just throw the point lead back and forth," Helliwell said. "I think one of us will come out of Chaudiere a couple points ahead, and the same thing will happen when we head to Airborne in October. I'm figuring and banking on it being a really tight point battle when we get to Thompson for the season finale."
Windham, ME's Brad Babb has secured his hold on third in the standings and leads fourth-place Jeff White by 55 points. White, Emily Packard, Brandon Atkins, and Kyle Welch among others continue to jockey for spots in the top-10 as the season winds down.
St-Edouard, QC's Dany Trépanier leads the Série ACT standings by 42 points over 2013 Champion Jean-François Déry. Patrick Cliche, Jonathan Bouvrette, and Martin Goulet Jr. round out the top-five.
Defending Série ACT Champion Alex Labbé picked up his fourth win of the season last Saturday at Autodrome Montmagny. His efforts have given the Larue Motorsports team a 40-point lead over Trépanier in the owner standings. Bouvrette has a comfortable lead over Babb and Goulet in the Bond Auto Parts New Champions standings.
The PASS North Super Late Models will also run a 200-lap main event in the fourth ACT-PASS doubleheader of the season. PASS North point leader Mike Rowe leads the charge, while Joey Doiron looks for his third doubleheader win of the season after emerging victorious at Thunder Road in May and Airborne Park Speedway in July. Recent Oxford 250 winner Glen Luce has also entered the event.
The Chaudiere Twin 200s for the ACT Tour, Série ACT, and the PASS North Super Late Models are this Saturday, September 12 at Vallée-Jct., QC's Autodrome Chaudiere. Post time is 6:00pm with the front gates opening at 2:00pm. Admission is $40 USD/$45 CAN for adults and free for kids 12 and under.
