Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series Returns to Peterborough Speedway

Hot August Nights are back at Canada's Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval.

 

There are 4 Saturdays in the month and the team at Peterborough Speedway has packed every one of them with the best in motorsports entertainment. It all starts Saturday, August 6th with the return of the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series; along with the hometown Battlefield Equipment Rental 4Fun, Jiffy Lube Mini Stock, Paul Davis Systems Thunder Car and Ontario Modifieds Racing Series divisions. With 100 laps of action on the table for the Sportsman Cup Series, track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse says it will be a good chance to see some former weekly runners shine in their new rides.

 

"Brandt Graham – the current series point leader – is a graduate of our Mini Stocks and will be looking for his 3rdstraight main event win this weekend," said Josiasse. "Mike Nelson from Peterborough is another former Mini Stocker and has been part of the tour for a number of years, while Donny Beatty of Beaverton – a former champ with the Thunder Cars and Ontario Modifieds Series divisions – is in his first year with the Lucas Oil Series."

 

For the Saturday, August 6th event, pit gates will open at 2:00, with the spectator grandstands unlocked at 5:00and the first qualifying heat on the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road, west of the Liftlock City at 6:00.

 

Looking at other upcoming events on the schedule finds another Fan Appreciation/Toonie Grandstand Admission Night – presented by Pepsi – Saturday, August 13th. On track action will include Battlefield Equipment Rental 4Fun, Jiffy Lube Mini Stock, Earl Ireland Auto Sales Late Model, INEX Ontario Legends and Ontario Modifieds Racing Series divisions. Pit gates will open at 2:00, spectator grandstands at 4:00 and racing starts at 5:00.

With a Peterborough Speedway Thunder Car and Ontario Modifieds Racing Series championship on his resume, Donny Beatty (#40) of Beaverton, Ontario is in his first season of action on the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series.

 

A graduate of the track's Mini Stock division, Peterborough, Ontario's Mike Nelson (#85) will be in action – Saturday, August 6th – when the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series returns to Peterborough Speedway.
