NASCAR Touring & Weekly Champions Will Celebrate In Charlotte
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Aug. 4, 2016) – NASCAR champions from across the globe will return to Charlotte, North Carolina, in December to celebrate their 2016 season.
For the seventh consecutive year, the NASCAR Hall of Fame at the Charlotte Convention Center will play host to the awards shows which honor the top drivers in NASCAR's weekly and touring series.
The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Awards, which celebrates the top short-track drivers in the United States and Canada, will be on Friday, Dec. 9.The NASCAR Night of Champions Touring Awards takes place the following evening, Saturday, Dec. 10.
The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Awards, the highlight of the weekly racing season, will honor the 2016 Division I national champion, as well as showcase the track champions from 58 tracks, U.S. state and Canadian provincial champions, national champions from Div. II through V, top rookies and special award winners.
Honorees at the NASCAR Night of Champions Touring Awards will include the champions from the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and West, NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour, NASCAR Pinty's Series and NASCAR Whelen Euro Series.
The week draws short-track stakeholders from across the United States, as well as Canada and Europe, to Charlotte for a week of activities including champions' dinners, track operator functions and industry meetings.
Additional special award winners will be recognized at the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Grand Champions event the morning of Friday, Dec. 9, and the NASCAR Touring Series Grand Champions event the morning of Saturday, Dec. 10. Both will take place at The Westin Charlotte.
The popular annual NASCAR Champions Karting Event will once again visit GoPro Motorplex in Mooresville, North Carolina, on Thursday, Dec. 8. The event, which is open to fans, will pit the six NASCAR touring champions and the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national champion against each other for ultimate bragging rights.
The Series Champions dinner, a private VIP dinner for each series champion driver and car owner, will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 7. During this event, the champions will unveil their names in the Whelen Hall of Champions, a NASCAR Hall of Fame exhibit in which every NASCAR champion is listed.
Both the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Awards and the NASCAR Night of Champions Touring Awards will be streamed live in English, French and Spanish on FansChoice.tv.
NASCAR previously announced the dates for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards (Dec. 2 at Wynn Las Vegas) and the NASCAR XFINITY/NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Awards (Nov. 21 at Loews Miami Beach Hotel).
