ACT Castrol Edge Laperle Wins Montmagny 100

Montmagny, QC – St. Denis, QC’s Patrick Laperle makes it two in a row with a win in the Montmagny 100 at Autodrome Montmagny on Saturday, May 29. Laperle, who earned the season opening win at Autodrome St-Eustache last weekend, started in the 16^th position and worked his way through the field to the lead on lap 24.

The 2007 Série ACT Castrol Champion would lead the rest of the way while holding off Karl Allard and Daniel Descoste for the win. Allard came home second followed by Descoste in third. Alex Labbe took fourth while Jonathan Desbiens earned his first career Série ACT Castrol top five with a fifth.

Ontario’s Jonathan Urlin took sixth followed by Jean-François Déry, Martin Latulippe, Patrick Cliche and Stephane Durand rounded out the top ten.

The 100 lap event took 1 hour and 44 minutes including one red flag for an issue with the track lighting and eleven other cautions.

The 2009 Série ACT Castrol Champion Donald Theetge finished 18^th after being involved in a mid race caution while running near the front. He would return after the wreck but ended up 16 laps down.

The Série ACT Castrol will compete in their third event of the 2010 season next Saturday, June 5 at Autodrome Chaudiere. It will be the first 150 lap race of the season.

Race Night May 28/10 at Delaware Speedway! Recap, results, photos.

WINS FOR LINDSAY AND KENNEDY IN TRIPLE CROWN RACES!

May 28, 2010 (London, Ontario) This season's first of the three-race Triple Crown series was run at Delaware Friday night with two 25-lap NASCAR Late Model feature races. Despite having the fastest time in time trials, defending NASCAR Late Model champ Steve Robblee had to settle for a pair of second place finishes – a situation he's put plenty of other drivers in over the years. The first two Triple Crown races of the 2010 season were taken by Scott Lindsay and Jesse Kennedy. Robblee moves into the top spot in points.

The first of the NASCAR Late Model features was Lindsay's to lose. He was out front by a couple of car lengths, then by half a straightaway, and held on the whole way through several cautions.

The battle was for second between Steve Robblee and Ron Sheridan. A brief caution at lap 14 was followed a lap later by another yellow flag as Jamie Grover, Shawn Thompson and Marc Jacobs entangled. Thompson headed into the pits to get his lid taped down.

More trouble at lap 17 with Doug Stewart and Mark Watson. It appeared Watson may have gotten loose and Stewart came in with his hood up over the windshield. Damage was also sustained to the front of the #51 of Matt Robblee which will be raced by Kyle Busch in Delaware's Summer Showdown on July 7^th. Lindsay was followed by Steve Robblee and Ron Sheridan.

Robblee was also held to a second place finish by second NASCAR Late Model winner Jesse Kennedy. Robblee had made an impressive run for the lead from his start at 18th.

A caution in the first lap over some contact between Jamie Ramsay and Scott Lindsay forced Ramsay to head to the pits for a new right rear tire. An unrelated connection elsewhere on the track damaged the hood of David Elliot. Rick Emery got taken out at lap 14 when Andrew Gresel spun out and Emery had nowhere else to go. Jesse Kennedy took the win with Robblee second and Mark Watson third.

In Super Stocks, Kris Lawrence took his first ever feature win. In victory lane, Kris said he was proud to carry on his father's legacy in the division.

In second place, for the final few laps, Stephen Richmond tried very hard to overtake Lawrence, tapping his bumper a few times but simply couldn't pass him and ended up in second place with Jason Lidster third.

Jeff Showler's comeback from a wreck at the start of the season ended in victory in The Demar Aggregate Trucks feature race.

Lonny Thompson did a solo 360 spin on turn one at lap 3. A lap later Thompson's truck was collateral damage as Devon Bloemendal's engine blew and he also took out Thompson.

Two laps later, Gordon Dupuis and then-division points leader Michelle Korcina made contact sparking the third caution of the race and ending Korcina's night at the end of a hook. She had been the points leader in the division heading into tonight's race and won one of the heats. Her brother Matt Korcina only made 5 more laps before his #93 suffered a mechanical failure.

Another caution at lap 12 – Gary Adriaensen took a spin on turn four and Derek Clark, just back in the game after two weeks out for repairs, hit Adriaensen's 55.

Showler's commanding lead slowly eroded as defending champ Fothergill made a run for it but Fothergill couldn't close the gap. Fothergill finished second and Steve McCaw, third.

Pro All Stars Series news:: PASS Sportsman headline Spud Speedway opener

PASS Sportsman headline opening day 2010 at Spud Speedway

The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Sportsman division will travel to the crown of Maine this Sunday May 30 for their first visit to Caribou’s Spud Speedway, and the PASS teams are looking forward to the challenge of competing on a new race track..

The PASS Sportsman racers kicked off their 2010 season at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway on May 1^st and 2009 series champion Carey Martin took down the win over Mike Landry, the driver that chased Martin all summer long in the 2009 points race. Landry came up only two points shy of the title when the final checker of 2009 flew. Expect this pair and many more to do battle with Spuds own Coca Cola Super Street regulars in a 75 green flag lap contest that’s sure to keep race fans on the edge of their seats.

Joining the PASS Sportsman and Coca Cola Super Streets on the schedule will be Spuds Young Guns, Northern Lights, Fast Fours, Street Stock and Late Model Sportsman divisions for a thrilling six division opening day card.

All divisions may participate in an optional practice session on Saturday May 29 from 11:00 AM until 4:00 PM. On Sunday May 30 the pit gate swings open at 10:00 Am and the racing gets the first green flag of the 2010 Spud Speedway season at 2:00 PM. Admission is just $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for kids ages 8-16. A pit pass is $20.00.

Triple Crown Returns to Delaware Speedway This Friday Night!

May 26, 2010 (London, Ontario) Delaware Speedway is bringing back the popular Triple Crown racing series with the first event of 2010 part of a great night of racing on Friday May 28^th. The Triple Crown gives racers another opportunity to earn NASCAR points (if they are NASCAR members) and to accumulate Delaware Speedway points. For the fans, it's yet another exciting Late Model series. The second Triple Crown race goes July 23^rd and the third, August 20^th. May 28^th's events at Delaware are sponsored by O'Tools Rent or Buy. O'Tools has been a proud supporter of Delaware Speedway for the past several years and is the Official Supplier of the golf carts used throughout the facility by event staff and race officials.

In the NASCAR Late Model Series, Mark Watson and Ron Sheridan will both be looking to repeat their wins this season. Watson, a former champion in the PowerAde Open Wheel Late Model Division, is coming off of a win in the second race of the season. That followed a strong showing during the season opener in which he led the majority of the race before his night came to an abrupt end in lap 25. Sheridan will use this week's race, along with the June 4^th event, to not only help erase the five point deficit between him and points leader Jesse Kennedy, but also as a tune up in preparation for his first appearance in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, during the Delaware 200 on June 5^th.

Steve Smith hopes to continue his run toward his goal of a 2010 Super Stock Championship. Smith's decisive win in the season opener has given him a strong start. 2009 division champion Jason Lidster currently sits fourth in the standings, tied with 2009 championship runner-up Darrell Lake, and trails Smith by only 12 points. Stephen Richmond, who recently won the 2010 Alan Kulwicki Memorial Scholarship for the Lee College of Engineering at the University of North Carolina – Charlotte, finds himself in second place, just five points back.

Paul Fothergill is the defending champ in Demar Aggregate Trucks and last week's winner. Fothergill finds himself sitting 18^th in the 2010 points standings after two events this season. Michelle Korcina of Ailsa Craig, a rookie competitor in 2009, leads the truck division by seven points over Gary Adriaennsen who won this season's opening race.

The main gate opens at 6 pm Friday night and racing starts at 8!

ON POURSUIT À L’AUTODRONE MONTMAGNY

La deuxième manche de la série ACT-Castrol Edge aura lieu, samedi prochain, le 29 mai, à l’Autodrome Montmagny qui est maintenant propriété de Mélanie Picard et Kenny Thériault de St-Agapit.

Jusqu’à maintenant sous la bannière Castrol, soit depuis 2005, onze épreuves ont été présentées à cette piste du pays de l’Oie Blanche. Donald Theetge de Québec, le double champion de cette série, y revendique quatre victoires dont la dernière remonte au 26 août 2008. La saison dernière lors de cette confrontation printanière, ce n’est nul autre que Jean-François Déry qui avait paradé dans le cercle des vainqueurs alors que le dernier gagnant à cet endroit, est Patrick Laperle.

Tous trois seront en piste pour ce Montmagny 100. Ils connaissent très bien le tracé et ils sont les favoris de la première heure, mais il y en a plusieurs autres qui pourraient leur rendre la vie difficile. Pour un, le Félicinois Karl Allard, le pilote de la Ford Fusion de Larue Déneigement, pourrait bien prendre place sur la première marche du podium.

Karl connaît très bien le tracé de Montmagny, car il a déjà récolté des succès par le passé en LMS. Cette saison, il semble préconiser le style bagarreur plutôt que gentilhomme et cela lui a bien servi dernièrement à l’Autodrome St-Eustache. Il n’a jamais baissé les bras et a bataillé jusqu’à la dernière minute pour récolter son premier podium de la saison et certainement pas le dernier.

À Montmagny, selon son horaire personnel, l’Ontarien Jonathan Urlin sera sur place afin de brouiller les cartes. C’est un fier compétiteur, on l’a constaté à St-Eustache et les réguliers de cette série ACT-Castrol Edge n’ont qu’à bien se tenir. Il y a également Gaétan Lauzier de St-Pacôme qui est très familier avec ce tracé. Au volant de la Dodge Charger de Gaston Dubé de St-Cyprien en remplacement de Dany Ouellet, Lauzier sera chez lui à Montmagny, endroit où Dany Ouellet a connu plusieurs succès. Il est assuré que l’on a gardé en notes, tous les ajustements requis pour un résultat plus que satisfaisant.

Malheureusement, les deux frères Lacombe, ne seront pas sur place, mais l’on pense avoir plus de 25 pilotes en pistes dont les recrues Christopher Bédard, Martin Latulippe, Jimmy Cormier, Alex Labbé et Dany Trépanier. Il y a également Marco Savoie qui voudrait bien se qualifier pour ce Montmagny 100. Ces derniers sont plus familiers avec les pistes de l’est du Québec et la saison est encore très jeune.

Les autres gagnants Castrol à l’Autodrome Montmagny sont Mario Gosselin et Sylvain Lacombe qui ont triomphé en deux occasions.

Au même programme, les classes locales Limité, Sport Compact et Kamikaze sont inscrites à l’horaire. On mentionne qu’il devrait y avoir plus de 12 participants dans chacune d’elles et il ne serait pas surprenant d’y rencontrer des coureurs réguliers du circuit Ste-Croix/Riverside Speedway.

L’ouverture des puits se fera en matinée à onze et les premières qualifications sont prévues pour dix-huit heures.

Première au circuit Ste-Croix/Riverside Speedway

Week-end d’accélération pour camions lourds (10 roues)

Les camionneurs ont un premier rendez-vous

Au circuit Ste-Croix/Riverside Speedway

(Ste-Croix-de-Lotbinière, Qc. (25-05-10) – Week-end de grande première au circuit Ste-Croix/Riverside Speedway alors que l’on présentera le Festival du Camion lourd qui rassemblera une grande partie des camionneurs qui sillonnent les routes du Québec.

Ce rassemblement dont le principal but est des épreuves d’accélération pour mastodontes est le premier du Regroupement des Festivals de Camions Lourds du Québec dont le calendrier présente huit événements tout aussi prestigieux les uns que les autres. Qu’il suffise de mentionner les compétitions de Notre-Dame-du-Nord, St-Joseph-de-Beauce, Sanair, La Doré, Mont-Laurier et autres pour comprendre à quel point, ces rendez-vous attirent les camionneurs ainsi que les amateurs de sports motorisés.

Bien structuré, ces confrontations seront dotées d’une bourse globale de 25,000 $, et des compétiteurs de tous les coins de la Belle Province seront sur place, car ce calendrier est assorti d’un fonds de points assez impressionnant. Les participants ont le choix de trois classes (A, B, et C) et avec charge ou sans charge.

En plus de ce qui se passera sur la piste, les spectateurs pourront admirer de plus près ces camions qui font l’orgueil de leur propriétaire. On pourra circuler parmi les kiosques des exposants qui voudront sans doute vous renseigner sur les dernières nouveautés dans le monde du camionnage.

En soirée, de l’animation est prévue, car beaucoup voudront profiter de la possibilité de camping qu’offre le circuit Ste-Croix/Riverside Speedway. C’est une première, mais dirigeants de cette piste de Lotbinière espère que la réponse sera positive et que ce Festival du Camion lourd deviendra un événement annuel. La journée de vendredi, est réservée pour les inscriptions tardives et l’entrée des campeurs alors que samedi et dimanche, on procédera aux épreuves d’accélération.

L’admission pour le week-end a été fixée à 25 $ ou 15 $ par jour.

URLIN aimerait venir à Montmagny

Suivant le 100 tours à l’Autodrome St-Eustache nous avons recueillis les commentaires de Jonathan Urlin sur sa performance et ses projets pour la saison.

After the 100 lap event at St-Eustache we took a few minutes with Jonathan Urlin to discuss his race performance and his projects for the 2010 season.

Le jeune pilote, vainqueur de la manche de 300 tours en septembre dernier a aussi multiples victoires à sont palmarès à la piste de Delaware Speedway et ailleurs en Ontario.

Après avoir mené en début d’épreuve, il était visiblement déçu de repartir avec une cinquième position.

« Depuis quelques épreuves quand nous venons à St-Eustache nous rivalisons avec Patrick Laperle. Ce soir, nous avons connus des problèmes de d’alimentation en gaz qui nous ont privé d’une belle bataille » déclara Urlin.

Nous l’avons questionné sur ses objectifs pour 2010, il a toujours l’intention de se battre près de chez lui à Delaware Speedway, mais en plus il a l’intention de participer au plus grand nombre de manche dans le circuit ACT CASTROL EDGE. Sa participation ne tient qu’à un fil cependant. Urlin n’a pas encore réussi à trouver des équipiers prêt à venir sillonner les pistes québécoises.

C’est certain que d’avoir la participation régulière de Urlin sur le circuit québécois serait un atout. Il a toujours sur relevé le spectacle d’un cran.

The young driver, winner of the 300 lap season ending event in September is also a multi-event winner at Delaware Speedway and at other venues in Ontario.

After leading early in the race, he was visibly disappointed to rally the finish line in fifth place.

“In the last few events when coming here we always raced for the win with Patrick Laperle. Obviously, we expected it again tonight. Our car would stutter (most likely fuel starvation) and I couldn’t rival with him” said Urlin.

We asked him about his objectives for 2010, he still intends to race near home at Delaware Speedway, but he would like to race in as many ACT CASTROL EDGE events. But his participation is dependent on Urlin finding a few crew members to help out at Quebec venues.

“We have to travel 6 to 10 hours to race tracks in Quebec. Its difficult for folks to come and help and have to go back to work on Monday morning” told us the young driver.

Urlin is therefore looking for two or three people willing to help out, starting with the Montmagny race.

Anyone interested should contact me and I will put you in direct contact with Jonathan.

Obviously, having Urlin race on the Quebec circuit would be a great addition, as he always contributed to the show and was always competitive.

REVSTAR PR - Victoire de Sébastien Gougeon

La course a été chaudement disputée entre Vigneault et Gougeon qui se sont échangés la position de tête à plusieurs reprises. Toutefois, vers le 15e tour, Gougeon s'est forgé une petite avance de 20 centièmes de seconde, la victoire semblait assurée pour le pilote no 44. Mais un bris de la pompe d'alimentation en Méthanol au dernier tour lui a compliqué la tâche. Il a du composer avec une perte de puissance de son bolide malgré tout il est parvenu à contenir les assauts de Patrick Vignault qui termine deuxième à seulement 2 centièmes de secondes d'écart. Une finale spectaculaire que les nombreux amateurs ont grandement apprécié.

La remontée du jour a été signée par le champion défendant, Jean-Françopis Tessier, parti à l'arrière du peloton il s'est frayé un chermin qui l'a conduit en 3e place au drapeau à damier.

Dans le championnat pour les recrues, Gabriel Richer s'est distingué en terminant en 6e position, il a même été en mesure de se hisser en 4e place durant la course.

Série Ss Québec PR - 2010-05-24

Tony Côté et Gerry Bilodeau remportent la 2ième course de la saison.

C'est à un Tony Côté en grande forme que les pilotes ÉLITE ont dû se mesurer vendredi dernier à l'Autodrome Chaudière. Côté #1 de Beauceville avec la voiture Lévis Toyota à remporté la finale en division Élite de belle façon même s'il a eu forte à faire avec Dany Poulin #2 de Vallée Jonction et Sylvain Labbé #40 de St-Joseph qui ont completé le podium.

En qualification: Steeve Malouin McKibbin #45 de Québec et Tony Côté avait remporté le damier.

En division INTERMÉDIAIRE, nous avons assisté à une course entre 2 pilotes soit Daniel Sylvain #12 de St-Georges et Gerry Bilodeau #24 de la Guadeloupe. Finalement c'est Gerry Bilodeau qui a eu le meilleur , suivi de Sylvain et une certaine surprise a été causé en 3ième position alors que le jeune pilote de 14 as de Lévis Alex Montminy #18 a completé ce podium malgré beaucoup de pression de 3 voitures pour lui ravir cette position.

Fait à noter:

Très belle prestation de Karl Drouin #39 dans la voiture Profab avec une 4ième position en finale ÉLITE.

Ausssi l'équipe #95 SS de Steve Lesage à déposer un protêt signé par Steve Lesage mais payé par un commanditaire selon leur dire contre 6 pilotes soit:

Pour utilisation d'un spoiler (Aileron arrière non-conforme).

La largeur demandée selon le livre des réglements 2010 est de 3/4 de pouces d'ouverture au centre des 2 parties de l'aileron pour une carosserie ABC complète.

Les carosseries ABC non-complètent ne sont pas assujeties à cette règle.

Après expertise: les voitures #12-#24 et #9 ne sont pas conforme aux réglements.

--Le #12 et #24 perdent les bourses acquises en finale ÉLITE étant donné qu'il sont là comme pilotes invités et n'accumule pas de points.

--La voitures #9 perd ses points et sa bourse pour la finale.

Les voitures #1 et #37 ont été déclaré conforment étant donné qu'elles ne sont pas munies de carosserie complète ABC.

La voiture #16 a été mesuré et respectait la norme.

Prochaine course: Samedi et dimanche 11 et 12 juin 2010 à l'Autodrome Montmagny, Soyez-y!!!!!!!

Pass South brings short track action to Charlotte Speed Week fans– for FREE!

Naples ME 5/23/10) Greater Charlotte is a Mecca for motorsports this week as thousands of race fans converge on the region for a nonstop week of motorsports mania. Races, shop tours, the popular Charlotte Speed Street activities and so much more make this a can’t miss week for hard core race fans.

In 2010 the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) will add another exciting element to racing’s version of Woodstock with the addition of a 150 lap Pro All Stars Series super late model race on Saturday May 29 at the well known Concord Speedway, just up the road from the “Big Track”. The fifth race of the PASS South racing season will bring together the fastest short track drivers and cars from throughout the southeast to challenge the track that’s billed as the world’s fastest ½ mile tri-oval.

It would be a great show for a twenty dollar bill, but Pro All Stars President Tom Mayberry has shocked the racing world by offering FREE GENERAL ADMISSION tickets to the 8,000 seat speedway. All you have to do to gain admission is print off the race ticket at www.proallstarsseries.com or www.concordmotorsportpark.com . The only charge will be a reasonable ten dollars for parking, regardless of how many race fans are in the car.

“It’s a pretty tough time for our country as a whole, and we felt that a promotion like this would b e a great way to introduce this exciting brand of racing to a new group of fans, and say thank you to everyone that have supported PASS in our first ten years of existence,” said Mayberry.” Our drivers and teams put on one of the best racing shows in the country, and we hope that a capacity crowd will take advantage of this opportunity to see them in action.”

The PASS super late models feature 100% green flag racing for the advertised distance as well as double file restarts throughout the event, adding two very exciting elements to their races. Preston Peltier leads the point standings after four events with third generation racer Ryan Blaney, Heath Hindman, Jay Folgleman and Andy Loden close behind.

Time trials are set for Saturday May 29 at 5:00 PM. Heat racing goes green at 7:00 PM and an on track driver’s meet and greet session takes place at 8:00 PM, followed b y the PASS 150. The Rolling Thunder modifieds join PASS for this special event

RICHIE TOBIAS SWEEPS SPEEDSTR EVENTS AT NEW EGYPT SPEEDWAY

Myerstown, PA - May 22, 2010 - Richie Tobias Jr. made his first start of the season in a SpeedSTR a memorable one for the NES fans. Tobias started last in his heat race and set sail above the cushion to win his first event and was equally as sensational in the feature starting 8th and taking the lead by lap 7 slicing and dicing through the field.

Doug Sherwood led the field of 18 STR's to the green flag on a beautifully prepared New Egypt surface, but it would be the NES veteran Mario Page grabbing the early lead. Page would set the pace while current point leader Kyle Hieber had quickly advanced to the front. Both Rich Tobias, driving the Valvoline VR1 number 3 and "Slick" Rick Schaffer (3rd all-time Modified feature winner at Grandview Speedway) wheeling the Freddie Rahmer Jr. #51 were also charging to the front.

The racing surface was impeccable allowing for 3 wide racing everywhere. "The track surface was perfect all night, you could go anywhere and we all did. High, low, middle it didn't matter, there was bite and intermittent slippery spots everywhere, stated Tobias". The midway point saw Tobias leading the way with Page and Schaffer lurking behind. Tyler Potts had fourth solidly locked down while a hard fought skirmish amongst 7 STR's was going on for fifth, with DJ Macri leading the pack.

As the field took the 5 to go sign, Schaffer was pressuring Page hard for second. Schaffer commented after the race, "These cars are a blast to drive, Richie did a great job here. I made some changes for the feature and the car was pretty neutral, I could go just about anywhere I wanted. We came to learn some things and I did, now I have some hands on knowledge to take back to the boys." Page would hold off the challenges of Schaffer to capture second followed by Potts (4th), and Macri rounding out the top 5.

STR Notes: Only 1 caution flag flew during the entire SpeedSTR evening events. Rick Schaeffer made his first ever start in a SpeedSTR to better familiarize himself with them to help out the Rahmer boys. Brittany Wixon ran her best race of the season and continued to show great improvement.

ACT PR - Pembroke Wins at Devils Bowl

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ACT – 052310

West Haven, VT – Montpelier’s Dave Pembroke took the win in the Thunder Road Late Models 100 lap event at the freshly paved Devils Bowl Speedway in West Haven, VT on Sunday, May 23. Pembroke battled side-by-side with hometown favorite Mike Bruno of Rutland, VT for the majority of the race, which was the season opener for Devils Bowl and also the opening event in the Thunder Road Late Models 2010 championship campaign.

Pembroke took the lead on lap 14 after starting in the 3^rd position before swapping the lead with Bruno, who started 7^th for the remainder of the event. Pembroke broke away from Bruno several times while working through lap traffic but Bruno reeled him in each time, but didn’t have enough to complete the pass. Pembroke and Bruno were followed to the line by pole-sitter Tracie Bellerose, Brent Dragon and Joey Becker completing the top five. Senator Phil Scott, Nick Sweet, Mike Bailey, Tony Andrews, and rookie Chris Riendeau rounded out the top ten.

The 100 lap event was slowed by six cautions including a red flag for a Grant Folsom flip on the front stretch. The race was completed in just over 1 hour, 12 minutes. Sixteen of the twenty-six starters were on the track for the checkered flag.

Pembroke will look to repeat his 2009 Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic win next Sunday, May 30 when the Thunder Road Late Models are back in action on the highbanks of Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, VT. The Late Models will be joined by Thunder Road’s three support divisions and the Modified Racing Series. Both the Late Models and the Modifieds will be running 100 lap events. Post time is 1:30pm.
