American-Made Ethanol from American-Grown Corn Has Helped Fuel Sport Since 2011;

10 Million Miles Equivalent to 400 Laps Around the Earth

 

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (November 11, 2016) – NASCAR announced today that it will surpass 10 million competition miles on Sunoco Green E15, a biofuel blended with 15 percent American-made ethanol, by the end of the 2016 season. The achievement will be celebrated during the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series™ race at Phoenix International Raceway this weekend. The 10 million miles will have been accumulated across practice, qualifying and racing laps since the biofuel was adopted by the sport.

 

Six years ago, NASCAR entered into a groundbreaking partnership with Sunoco and American Ethanol, launching its long-term biofuels program to reduce emissions across its three national series. After an exhaustive analysis, Sunoco formulated Sunoco Green E15 to allow for a seamless transition, and the biofuel made its debut at Daytona International Speedway in 2011. All the ethanol for Green E15 is produced from American-grown corn at Sunoco's ethanol manufacturing facility in Fulton, N.Y.

 

"As we approach 10 million miles on Sunoco Green E15 across our three national series, it's evident that the renewable, higher ethanol blended fuel performs flawlessly against our rigorous racing conditions," said Brent Dewar, NASCAR Chief Operating Officer. Since transitioning to the biofuel, NASCAR has helped validate the fuel's qualities in front of an audience of millions of NASCAR fans and is helping shift attitudes and behaviors around the use of ethanol. According to new research conducted in July, when compared to non-fans, NASCAR fans are more likely to support the use of ethanol blended gasoline to fuel NASCAR race cars, their own car, and cars on the road today to increase U.S. energy independence. Source: Custom Environment-Related Tracker commissioned by NASCAR and conducted by Toluna (July 2016).

The move to Sunoco Green E15 coincided with the incorporation of more technology into NASCAR race cars. In 2012, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series transitioned from carbureted engines to electronic fuel injection using an electronic control unit (ECU) – the first computer technology used in a NASCAR race car. In addition, the series moved from analog gauges to a digital dashboard this season.

2017 ARCA Racing Series schedule released; Elko, Road America return

TOLEDO, Ohio (Nov. 10, 2016) – The 65th consecutive season for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards is set in stone, as Series officials released the 2017 schedule Thursday to include 20 race-dates across 13 states.

Another healthy mix of superspeedways, paved short tracks, dirt tracks and a road course will highlight the 2017 tour, including returns trips to Elko Speedway in Minnesota and Road America in Wisconsin. ARCA raced at the Elko short track 2012-2014 and once at the Road America road course in 2013. 

"We are pleased to announce our full and complete 20-race, 2017 schedule," said ARCA President Ron Drager. "From superspeedways recognized as among the most famed tracks in the world, to historic short tracks, to mile dirt tracks and road course venues, the schedule highlights the long standing diversity of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards. We're especially pleased to welcome back to the schedule Elko Speedway and Road America."

The series will kick off the 2017 campaign with the 54th running of the Lucas Oil 200 at Daytona February 18 which precedes NASCAR's Unlimited later that night. For the sixth consecutive year, the ARCA Racing Series will crown the Series champion at Kansas Speedway where ARCA's race season concludes under the lights October 20.

In between Daytona and Kansas is one of the most diverse schedules in racing with race events on eight superspeedways, nine paved short tracks, two dirt tracks and one road course.

The series will race at conjunction event venues with all three of NASCAR's top-tier divisions including Cup, Xfinity and Camping World Trucks, as well as the Verizon IndyCar Series, the USAC Silver Crown Series and the ARCA CRA Super Series.

Prior to the 2017 season, series officials will celebrate the 2016 season one final time with the annual national championship awards banquet at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis Saturday, December 10.

DIRTcar Racing and World of Outlaws Adopt Unified Dirt Late Model Council Specs

CONCORD, N.C. – Nov. 9, 2016 – DIRTcar Racing and the World of Outlaws will officially adopt the Unified Dirt Late Model Council's technical and driver personal protection specifications, adding them to the rule books for the World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series, DIRTcar Late Models and DIRTcar Pro Late Models.

The Council's sanctioning body committee met in October to develop unified specifications for all Council members, including the World of Outlaws, Lucas Oil Series, MLRA, Ultimate Series, Southern Nationals Series, AMLS, MARS, DIRTcar Racing and Eldora Speedway. All dirt late model sanctioning series will be encouraged to adopt the specifications effective January 1, 2017.

The adopted specifications, detailed in the below bulletin, will be integrated into the 2017 General Rules and Specifications. This includes fuel cells, battery and electrical systems, wheels and wheel discs/covers, and personal safety equipment such as drivers' gloves, head and neck systems, seats and fire suppression.

In addition to the outlined technical and driver personal protection specifications, the Council will meet at PRI in December to address weighted suspension components, rear end construction materials and axels. Specifications for these components will be released after the December meeting.

DIRTcar Racing and World of Outlaws continue to work with their partners to ensure the safety and consistency of its cars and drivers, and to solidify the sport in all its facets.

THIS DOCUMENT IS INTENDED AS A GUIDE TO THE UNIFIED LATE MODEL COUNCIL RULES, RULE ADJUSTMENTS, RULE ADDITIONS, REFINEMENTS, AND ADDENDUMS.

Please note: The bullet points of this bulletin will be applied to each Series' individual rule book, amending the applicable rule section or in some cases creating a new section.

LATE MODEL TECHNICAL BULLETIN

Effective January 1, 2017

Fuel, Fuel Cells, Fuel Systems:
An approved fuel cell must be used at all times.

The only fuel cells that are approved are those that meet and/or exceed the FIA / FT3 specifications.

Fuel cells must be used in accordance with the FT3 specifications. Alterations of any kind will not be permitted. (Example: alterations to top plate, alterations or removal of foam, etc.)

Fuel valve plate, fuel pickup and fuel return fittings must be on the top of the fuel cell.

Fuel cells that are not contained within a welded steel tubing "rack" must have two (2) equally spaced steel straps that measure two (2) inches wide by 1/8 inch in thickness that completely surround the fuel cell. The straps must be bolted to the frame. Longitudinal (front to rear) orientation is recommended for strap mounting.
Willy's Carburetor roll over plate part # WCD4000 is approved for competition.

Electrical Systems, Batteries, Electrical Accessories:
The battery must be securely mounted with positive fasteners and brackets.

The battery terminals must be insulated or enclosed with a non-conductive material that will prevent contact with any part of the race car should the battery become dislodged from the battery mount.

One (1) mandatory battery disconnect switch must be installed on the rear deck, behind the driver seat, in a location that is easily accessible from outside the race car. The switch must be clearly labeled with off/on direction. The switch must be directly in-line with the NEGATIVE battery cable and be capable of completely disconnecting the NEGATIVE terminal of the battery from the race car. Negative or "ground" wiring connections must not be made anywhere from the battery negative terminal to the input side of the disconnect switch. An additional battery disconnect switch within the drivers reach may also be used.

Wheel, Wheel Discs, Wheel Spacers:
Only aluminum wheels will be permitted.

Only approved wheel discs will be permitted. Approved wheel discs are wheel discs that are fastened to the wheel using a minimum of three (3), 5/16 inch diameter magnetic steel hex head bolts. The use of wheel discs with any other type of fastener will not be permitted.

Only aluminum wheel spacers will be permitted.

Personal Safety Equipment:
Drivers must wear gloves at all times they are on track, during practice and competition.

Driver's gloves must meet or exceed the SFI 3.3 specification and have a legible and valid SFI 3.3 label.

Drivers, at all times they are on the track, must have their helmets correctly (following manufacturers installation and use instructions) connected to an approved head and neck restraint. The head and neck restraint must be SFI 38.1 approved and display a legible and valid SFI 38.1 label.

Race Car Installed Safety Equipment:

A. Seats
All racecars must be equipped with a complete driver full containment type seat with head rest and head surround. All seats must meet or exceed the SFI 39.2 specification and display a legible and valid SFI 39.2 label.

Seats must be used as supplied and instructed by the seat manufacturer with the exception of trimming the length of the left side head surround for the purpose of egress only. If the left side head surround is trimmed to a distance that is less than the most forward surface of the drivers helmet (usually the area crossing the chin) then a left side head net meeting the SFI 37.1 must be installed with a quick release latch.

Seats must be mounted to a seat frame that is welded to the racecar frame/roll cage structure. Attaching points, angles, and materials for the seat frame and mounting of the seat to the seat frame must be in accordance to the seat manufacturer instructions.

B. Fire Suppression
All racecars must be equipped with a thermally deployed automatic fire suppression system. The fire suppression system will consist of a DOT approved cylinder manufactured from aluminum or steel with a capacity of ten (10) lbs. of fire extinguishing agent, steel or steel reinforced lines, and two (2) thermally activated discharge nozzles.
All systems must meet or exceed SFI 17.1 specifications.

Systems must be fully charged with ten (10) lbs. of DuPont FE-36, 3M NOVEC 1230, or Fire Aide and display a legible and valid SFI and manufacturer label depicting fire extinguishing agent, capacity, and certification date. Cylinders that or beyond useful certification date must be inspected, serviced and re-labeled by the manufacturer.
Cylinders must be mounted forward of the fuel cell. Cylinders must be securely mounted to the frame/roll cage assembly. The certification label must be unobstructed and easily accessible for inspection when the mounting is complete.

The cylinder must be connected to the nozzles with steel or steel reinforced lines.
Two (2) thermally activated nozzles must be used. One (1) nozzle must be located directly above the fuel cell in the fuel cell area and the second nozzle must be located in the driver cockpit area.
An optional manual override cable may be added to the system.

ALEX LABBE TO DEBUT IN XFINITY AT PHOENIX AND SEEKING A PINTY'S TITLE IN 2017




MONTREAL, QC – 2016-11-07 [updated 17h06] – The young St-Albert, QC stock car driver, Alex LABBÉ, will be the next Quebecois driver to make an attempt at the NASCAR XFINITY Series.  Driving the Mario GOSSELIN owned and prepared automobile, Labbé, 23 years old, will be racing in the Ticket Galaxy 200 at Phoenix International Raceway in Phoenix, Arizona this weekend.



"In addition to providing him a ride in the NASCAR Pinty's Series, we want Alex to continue his development in motorsports.  This is why we are providing him with the opportunity to rub fenders with the best and promising drivers of NASCAR, in at least five starts, behind the wheel of one of our Ford Can-Am Kappa Cyclops Gear NASCAR XFINITY cars" declared Alain Lord Mounir, Principal Officer for Go FAS Racing, Kappa clothes and Cyclop camera gear.

It will be important to finish.

The Ticket Galaxy 200, a NASCAR XFINITY race, will be held in the shadows of the Can-Am 500, for NASCAR Spring Cup cars.  Labbé will be competing in front of the NASCAR brass and all of the large teams.

Despite very modest expectations this weekend, he claims to be seeking experience and wants to rally the finish line, this race is in fact one of the many in his quest for a NASCAR Sprint Cup ride.

To get there, Labbé will need to convince NASCAR Officials that he has what it takes on the track to compete at those levels... short tracks, like Phoenix, intermediate tracks (1 to 2 miles), Speedways (2 miles) and finally Super Speedways (2.5 miles).  All of this may shake itself quickly for Labbé... but it is not automatic.

Intentions: Kick off 2017 at an intermediate track.

"Because the 2017 Pinty's Series calendar is still not available, we can't firm up our plans yet.  Of course my objective is to win the Pinty's title, but also to make my time in the XFINITY Series in order to be at the 2018 edition in Daytona" said a very smiling Alex Labbé.

Many changes expected in the Pinty's Series.

While he did not want to specify, Alex did confirm to us in the interview that many many important changes are to be expected in his chase for the Pinty's title.  He will not settle for anything less than providing Go FAS Racing, Can-Am, Kappa and Cyclops gear a title in Canada's premier NASCAR Series.

If he and his team are not ready to tell us more specific details, it is easy to believe that Labbé will want to surround himself with the people that have provided him with great success in his relatively short career, starting with Mario Gosselin, who will be handling crew chief duties for him this weekend.  Is an all Québécois team possible?

Larue steps in.

If fans and followers of the American-Canadian Tour is used to seeing Labbé sport the Larue snowplow and paving equipment colors, it will definitely be a weird feeling to see them on an XFINITY car.  For Labbé's first race in the Series, Larue, a Quebec company joins others to make this possible.  But the association doesn't stop there.  "As soon as the Pinty's schedule is known we will research which races we can do together in the Late Model and Super Late Model ranks."

The XFINITY race will be held on November 12, at Phoenix International Raceway (Phoenix, Arizona) and will be broadcasted in the USA on NBCSN and in Canada on TSN.

ALEX LABBÉ EN XFINITY À PHOENIX ET À LA QUÊTE D'UN TITRE PINTY'S EN 2017



MONTRÉAL, QC – 2016-11-07 – Le pilote de voitures stock-car Alex LABBÉ de St-Albert sera le prochain Québécois à tenter sa chance en NASCAR XFINITY.  Au volant de la voiture propriété de Mario GOSSELIN qui sera son chef d'équipe, Labbé, 23 ans, prendra part à l'épreuve Ticket Galaxy 200 au Phoenix International Raceway à Phoenix, Arizona ce weekend.


"En plus de lui confier à nouveau le volant de notre voiture en série NASCAR Pinty's, nous voulons qu'Alex continue de gravir les échelons vers les sommets de la course automobile.  C'est pourquoi nous lui permettrons de se frotter aux meilleurs pilotes de la relève de NASCAR avec au moins cinq départs au volant d'une de nos Ford Can-Am Kappa Cyclops Gear" de la série NASCAR XFINITY" déclara Alain Lord Mounir, dirigeant de Go FAS Racing, des vêtements Kappa et des caméras Cyclos Gear.

Il est important de terminer.

L'épreuve Ticket Galaxy 200, pour les voitures NASCAR XFINITY est disputée en marge de l'épreuve Can-Am 500, pour les voitures NASCAR Sprint Cup.  Labbé sera donc à l'œuvre devant la grosse gomme de NASCAR et les grosses écuries.

Même si les attentes de Labbé sont modestes en fin de semaine, il dit vouloir prendre de l'expérience et souhaite rallier le fil d'arrivée, cette course est en fait une marche de plus dans sa longue quête d'un volant en NASCAR Sprint.

Pour y arriver, Labbé devra démontrer aux dirigeants de NASCAR ses capacités en piste… les courtes pistes, comme Phoenix, les circuits intermédiaires (1 à 2 miles), les grandes pistes (2 miles) et finalement les super ovales de 2.5 miles ("super speedways").  Il se peut que le tout se bouscule et aille très vite pour Labbé… mais ce n'est pas automatique.

Il aimerait débuter la saison 2017 avec un circuit intermédiaire.

"Comme le calendrier 2017 de la série Pinty's n'est pas encore disponible, nous ne pouvons pas encore faire notre plan de match final.  Mais c'est certain que mon objectif est de remporter le titre en Pinty's, mais aussi de faire mes classes en XFINITY pour être du départ de l'édition 2018 du Daytona 500" lança un jubilant Alex Labbé.

De gros changements du côté Pinty's

Sans vouloir nous en dire plus, en entrevue Alex nous a confirmé que des changements importants sont à venir du côté de son équipe Pinty's afin se donner toutes les chances de remporter pour Go FAS Racing, Can-Am, Kappa et Cyclops gear un titre dans la première série NASCAR au Canada.

Si son équipe et lui ne sont pas prêts à nous en dire plus, il est permis de croire que Labbé va s'entourer des gens qui lui ont donné du succès dans sa jeune, mais très bien garnie carrière, commençant par Mario Gosselin.  Serait-il permis de penser à une équipe toute québécoise?

Larue s'implique.
Si les amateurs de la Série American-Canadian Tour sont habitués de voir Labbé piloté la voiture aux couleurs des équipements de déneigement et de pavage Larue, ce sera certes spécial de les voir sur une voiture XFINITY.  Pour cette première course en XFINITY, Larue, une entreprise de Québec, se joint aux autres partenaires pour rendre l'aventure possible.  Mais ça ne s'arrête pas là.  "Dès que le calendrier Pinty's sera connu ont va regarder quelles courses Late Model et Super Late Model nous pourrons faire ensemble".

La course XFINITY sera disputée le 12 novembre prochain, à la piste de Phoenix International Raceway (Phoenix, Arizona) et sera diffusée aux USA sur NBCSN et au Canada sur TSN.

MONTRÉAL, le lundi 7 novembre 2016 | Le jeune pilote québécois de stock car Alex Labbé obtient aujourd'hui le feu vert de l'écurie Go FAS Racing pour disputer sa deuxième saison à temps plein en série NASCAR Pinty's. De plus, il pourra effectuer ses cinq premiers départs en série NASCAR XFinity dont le Ticket Galaxy 200,  ce samedi soir 12 novembre, au Phoenix International Raceway, en Arizona. 

 

« Alex a très bien progressé en 2016 au volant de notre Ford Fusion Can Am-Kappa-Cyclops Gear et il nous fait plaisir de lui permettre de poursuivre son développement au sein de notre organisation. Il reprendra donc le collier à temps plein en NASCAR Pinty's », a dit Alain Lord Mounir, dirigeant de Go FAS Racing, des vêtements Kappa et des caméras Cyclops Gear. 

 

Débuts en Xfinity dès ce week-end

Grâce à ses activités américaines de NASCAR, Go FAS Racing pourra offrir à son poulain la chance de continuer son apprentissage dans cinq courses de la série Xfinity, la deuxième série en importance de NASCAR derrière la coupe Sprint.  Ce programme débutera dès ce week-end alors que la série NASCAR Xfinity roulera en prélude au Can-Am 500 du Phoenix International Raceway.

 

« En plus de lui confier à nouveau le volant de notre voiture en série NASCAR Pinty's, nous voulons qu'Alex continue de gravir les échelons vers les sommets de la course automobile. C'est pourquoi nous lui permettrons de se frotter aux meilleurs pilotes de la relève de NASCAR avec au moins cinq départs au volant d'une de nos Ford Can-Am-Kappa-Cyclops Gear de série NASCAR XFinity. »

 

Pour Alex Labbé, c'est l'occasion inestimable de se faire voir en piste aux côtés des Erik Jones, Elliott Sadler, Daniel Suarez et autres vedettes de la deuxième série de NASCAR. 

 

« Depuis mes tout débuts en course automobile, les pilotes des séries américaines de NASCAR sont mes idoles, a dit le pilote de 23 ans. C'est super de savoir que je vais pouvoir me frotter à eux, mais c'est encore plus gratifiant de savoir que Go FAS Racing m'accorde autant de confiance. Je suis heureux de savoir que j'ai rempli leurs attentes en 2016 et je vais tout faire en mon pouvoir pour décrocher le titre de la série NASCAR Pinty's en 2017 et me faire remarquer positivement en Xfinity. »

 

Des partenaires fidèles

En plus de Can-Am, Kappa et Cyclops Gear, les Équipements Larue, qui appuient Alex depuis longtemps en série ACT, feront partie de ses partenaires pour son premier départ en série NASCAR Xfinity.

 

Lors de sa première saison complète de série NASCAR Pinty's avec Go FAS Racing en 2016, Alex Labbé a terminé septième au championnat avec une victoire à l'Autodrome Chaudière, trois positions de tête en qualification, six top-5 et huit top-10 en 12 départs.

Roy se fait plaisir pour sa dernière course cette saison

O'Reilly Auto Parts Challenge – Texas Motor Speedway

 

Fort Worth, le 6 novembre 2016 - Martin Roy s'est fait plaisir, samedi, en prenant part à sa dernière course de NASCAR Xfinity en 2016. Le pilote a rallié l'arrivée en 30e place sur l'ovale rapide du Texas Motor Speedway, mais ce résultat n'est pas représentatif de sa progression au cours de l'épreuve.

La malchance s'est abattue sur l'équipe québécoise King Autosport dès le début du week-end, alors que le moteur de la voiture Gamache/Côté/Arcopel/Entreposage Fantastik n°90 a rendu l'âme au début de la séance d'essais.

« Je n'ai pas du tout pu pratiquer avec la voiture, donc j'ai préféré rester très prudent en qualifications, ne sachant pas trop comment elle allait réagir », a indiqué Martin Roy.

Ayant pris le départ en 35e place, le pilote a connu un très bon début de course, samedi après-midi, sur l'ovale d'un mille et demi. « J'étais rapide avec des pneus neufs. Mais ça s'est rapidement détérioré. Je ne pouvais pas rouler sur la ligne intérieure de la piste », a commenté le pilote de Napierville.

Roy, au volant de la voiture Gamache/Côté/Arcopel/Entreposage Fantastik n°90, s'est toutefois rapidement adapté. « Je me suis fait vraiment plaisir en roulant à l'extérieur. Ça me permettait d'être rapide et de ne jamais lâcher la pédale de l'accélérateur. De plus, ça évitait au moteur d'avoir des temps morts et ça nous rendait compétitifs. Mais ce que je retiens, c'est vraiment le fun que j'ai eu à faire tous ces tours à l'extérieur! », a partagé celui qui est également propriétaire de l'écurie King Autosport.

La voiture Gamache/Côté/Arcopel/Entreposage Fantastik n°90 a rallié l'arrivée en 30e place. « Ça ne représente pas la course que nous avons faite. Nous nous améliorions constamment. Encore une fois, nous avons appris énormément cette saison. C'est un bon résultat pour nous, et nous démontrons de belles choses, et ce, malgré les moyens limités dont nous disposons en comparaison avec les équipes de pointe », a conclu Roy.

Le O'Reilly Auto Parts Challenge a été remporté par Kyle Larson, suivi de Brad Keselowski et Kevin Harvick. 

Il s'agissait de la dernière course en 2016 pour le pilote Martin Roy, qui conclut sa saison en dressant un bilan positif. L'équipe King Autosport sera de retour en action dès la semaine prochaine, au Phoenix International Raceway.
