DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East heads to Pennsylvania for the its inaugural race at Motordrome Speedway in Smithton on Saturday. Below is a statistical look at the series and drivers.
UPMC Health Plan 150:
• Saturday's night event will mark the series' first visit to Motordrome Speedway.
• William Byron continues to lead the standings, but Scott Heckert trails by only 14 points.
• The race will air on NBCSN on Thursday, August 20th at 7 p.m. ET.
Motordrome Speedway:
History:
• Has been a NASCAR sanctioned track since 1990.
• Charlie Cragan, Steve Peles, Glenn Gault, Jeff Dunmyer and Richard Mitchell all won NASCAR Northeast Region championships the inaugural year.
• It opened as a half-mile dirt track in 1972 and was paved in 1989.
• It is now a half-mile paved oval.
Notebook:
• Motordrome is similar to two tracks the K&N Pro Series East visits annually, Florida's New Smyrna Speedway and South Carolina's Greenville Pickens Speedway, two semi-banked/flat half-miles.
• Austin Hill and Byron have each earned a win this season at New Smyrna (Hill) and Greenville (Byron).
