The Joliette (Quebec) native won the pole for this race in 2007 and posted second-place finishes in 2007 and 2008. The 2009 and 2010 Montreal races saw Carpentier as one of the fastest on the track before mechanical issues ended his races early.

"This is the most important race of the year for me," said the 39-year-old Carpentier who led 14 laps of the 2007 race on the 2.71-mile (4.361 km) road course. MOSPORT PR: MOSPORT SPEEDWAY'S SEASON OPENER THIS WEEKEND

Saturday Night Stock Car Racing Returns To Durham Region

(BOWMANVILLE, ON – May 17, 2011)   As Mosport International Raceway’s

2011 season gets underway with the Victoria Day SpeedFest, Mosport Speedway will also kick-off its exciting racing action this Saturday (May 21).

The 22nd year of nose-to-tail racing at Canada’s fastest half-mile oval revs into high gear with the three regular home classes – the Pure Stock (formerly Six or Less), Sportsman and Late Model all in action.  They will be joined by the Open-Wheel Modifieds as they make their first of five Mosport appearances.

In 2010, Jim “The Professor” Rossiter of Orono, ON, made the successful move into the Late Model division after winning the championship on three occasions in the Modified division.  Rossiter was a consistent finisher in 2010, winning one feature race, netting three heat race victories and having an equal number of runner-up finishes.  The high school shop teacher now looks ahead to this season where all of the other drivers will be aiming to try and take his title, something he has been accustomed to over the years.

In the Sportsman division, the 2010 championship came down to the final race of the season as Brad Stephenson of Courtice, ON and Oshawa native John Baker Jr. had waged a see-saw battle at the top all summer.  In the end, Stephenson would take the title, on the back of an impressive 18 race victories including seven features.  This season, Stephenson has sold his car so the title chase will be wide open.

One of Mosport’s most popular divisions, the developmental Six or Less (now known as Pure Stock) division will continue to see great competition week in and week out.  In 2010, veteran Six Or Less driver Kevin Pickford started his season on a strong note, scoring feature wins in the opening two rounds of the schedule. But the momentum began to shift as youngster Duane Jeffery of Oshawa eventually scored an astounding 16 race victories

(13 heats/ three features). With a clutch feature race victory in the season finale, Pickford would take the title by a mere 16 points over Jeffrey.

Virtually every Saturday will include a special travelling series that will join the home division races.  Making the trek to Mosport Speedway this season will be the Open-Wheel Modifieds, OSCAAR, Ontario Legends, Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup, Vintage Modifieds and Pro Challenge.

Each week will see the return of the Old Dutch Crunch “King of the Hill” spectator races, where two cars go head-to-head, two at a time, with the winning driver moving on and the loser parking it for the night.

One of the season highlights this season will be the return of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, as they open their 2011 campaign next Saturday (May

28) with the Dickies 200.  The 200-lap race-into-the-night always provides fans with non-stop excitement and provides the drivers with one of their toughest tests on the schedule.

There will also be two Fan Appreciation nights starting with the first on July 2 and the second taking place on the final weekend of the season, September 10.

New this season, the gates will open at 5:00 pm and the green flag will fly for the night’s first race at 6:00 pm.  Admission for adults is just $15, youth (13-17) and seniors (65+) are both $10 and as always, children

12 and under are free.  Admission for the Speedway this Saturday is included with the Victoria Day SpeedFest Weekend Super Ticket.

For more information and to purchase tickets, call the Mosport Hotline at

1-800-866-1072 (Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm ET), visit online at www.mosport.com, or email info@mosport.com

TMR PR: Impressive Run For Maryeve Dufault Derailed At Toledo Speedway

TOLEDO, Ohio (May 17, 2011) - - Despite her lack of experience on a short track in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, Maryeve Dufault flexed her muscle in the No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports / UNOH Dodge Charger during Sunday’s Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care at Toledo Speedway.

The 2011 ARCA Racing Series Rookie of the Year candidate had full intentions of utilizing the experience she gained during a private test at the half-mile oval several days prior. With crew chief Darren Wolfe calling the shots and resultant confidence from spotter Gary Johnson, father of six time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson – Dufault was in good hands.

Mother Nature played havoc with the track conditions early Saturday forcing adjustments in the day’s schedule which now included two practices and the cancellation of qualifying. By the conclusion of the first practice, Dufault had locked her No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports / UNOH Dodge Charger in the 15th position right behind teammate Jared Marks.

A few adjustments later and Dufault was ready for final practice. Continuing to learn the tricks and trades of the fast short track, the former open-wheel driver maneuvered the 16th fastest time, very respectable for her first tango with the Northern Ohio race track.

Because of the removal of time trials from the day’s activities, Dufault would start the 200-lap event 29th on the field according to the 2011 ARCA Racing Series rule book.

For the second consecutive weekend, rain would drench the race track on race day forcing ARCA Racing Series officials to spend a majority of the morning drying the Northern Ohio race track. The command to start engines was given shortly before 2:00 p.m. with the drivers circling the track under yellow and green flag conditions together to officially begin the fourth race of the season.

The all-clear would be given by lap 20 putting the field under true racing conditions. Knowing that the race had the opportunity to be called at the half-way point, the Sorel, Quebec native quickly began negotiating her way through the pack.

By the time the second yellow flag waived, Dufault had successfully raced her No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports / UNOH Dodge Charger into the top-half dozen competition with a very neutral race car.

Johnson remained a cheerleader on the restart to help to Dufault mull over her competition. “You’re doing a real good job Mary,” said Johnson.  “Don’t worry once the tires wear down you’ll go right around ‘em – just be patient.”

When the leaders stacked up on the backstretch on lap 37, Dufault showed incredible car control as she was able to glide her Dodge Charger through the carnage finding herself beating on the door of the top-10.

Racing resumed with Dufault making her attack but as the group of cars she was racing with entered turn three on lap 58, a slower machine on the bottom of the track forced the No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports / UNOH Dodge Charger to check-up; setting off a chain-reaction result from behind but not before another competitor plowed into the back of the No. 12 TMR entry which ultimately sent her machine hard into the wall.

Coming to rest at the bottom of turn three, Dufault was able to climb from her machine under her own power, agitated but okay. The encouraging performance though would be overshadowed by the 23rd place finish as Dufault; herself experienced what it was like to become a victim of tight short track racing.

“I was really happy with our No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports / UNOH Dodge Charger,” said an obviously disappointed Dufault.  “The car was running great and I seemed to really be getting around the track well. I was moving up thru the field to a comfortable position to just ride. The No. 28 closed the door on me while I was outside passing him he was slower. But, he went to the wall like it was clear and that almost squished into the wall where the gate entrance was. I backed off a little but the No. 17 had to go left and hit my rear corner really hard that sent me into the wall. Obviously this is not how we wanted to finish, especially as strong of a car that the Tony Marks Racing team gave me.”

She added, “going around slower traffic is really hard for me I don't want to cause them to wreck but they caused me a wreck and it's the second time that has happened. We needed a good day for the points and for everyone who supports me and Tony Marks Racing but they say this is racing. It’s just frustrating. No one likes taking home a wrecked race car and we didn’t need to do it two weeks in-a-row. The positive coming out of Toledo is that we were fast and showed that we can be contenders. We’ll get No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports / UNOH Dodge Charger repaired and tackle the again on the next short track.”

TMR owner Tony Marks commented on Dufault’s performance.

“Maryeve did a great job, it wasn’t her fault,” he said. “While we’re disappointed that we didn’t get the finish that we all wanted, it was great to see both TMR right in the thick of the battle. We are a driver development team, we are here to teach and learn, and this is all part of it. Maryeve is a very smart, talented driver and I am very happy to have her behind the wheel of my race cars. We just have to pick up the pieces and keep moving forward with our head held high; because that’s the way we’ll persevere when we have races like this. Toledo is over and it’s onto New Jersey.”

Teammate Jared Marks, the 16-year old sophomore at Napoleon High School finished a respectable 13th in his ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards debut behind the wheel of the No. 8 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports / UNOH Dodge Charger.

Next up for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards is the lone stop at a road course. The ModSpace 150 is set for next Sunday, May 22 at New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) in Millville, New Jersey. Dufault has high expectations for round five of the season as her previous racing background includes road course racing.

PASS NEWS: It's a PASS North rumble at White Mountain Saturday

For Immediate Release: Media, contact Norm Desjardins

NAPLES ME (5/17) The thunder will roll Saturday evening when the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North super late models kick off White Mountain Motorsports Park's 2011 racing season, a track that’s a favorite stop for PASS racers and race fans alike.

The smooth and fast high banked quarter mile will celebrate its eleventh year on the PASS North schedule in 2011 and fans can count on another bull ring barn burner when the first green of the North Woodstock NH speedway's season flies 4:00 PM .

Johnny Clark and Richie Dearborn each earned a White Mountain win in 2010. Clark is the defending spring race winner and that victory was his first at White Mountain after years of trying. White Mountain was the start of a three race win streak for the 2010 PASS super late model champion, a run that was key to his fifth series title.

Dearborn has won two fall events in a row, but he's never scored in the spring edition. If his performance at the quarter mile Star Speedway on May 14 is any indication, Dearborn may be ready to change that. He dominated at Star and a flat tire may be the only thing that kept the Hollis Maine racer out of victory lane.

Ben Rowe makes no bones about loving the scenic White Mountain oval, despite the fact that he's been shut out of victory lane there since the spring of 2009. Rowe took over the PASS points lead at Star and he will be looking for a return to the White Mountain dominance he's enjoyed in the past.

The entry list includes PASS veterans like Scott Chubbuck, Travis Benjamin, Gary Smith, Mike Rowe, Scott Alexander, Donnie Whitten and Jon Dabrowski .The new wave of PASS North racers on the list includes 2010 PASS Rookie of the Year Joey Doiron, Kyle DeSouza, Matt Matheson, Lonnie Sommerville, Austin Brehio, Jon Dickerman and David Oliver.

White Mountain's own Late Models, Tigers, Strictly Stocks, Strictly Minis and Kids Trucks join PASS for their first weekly race of the season. It's a show that just can't be missed, and it all goes green at 4:00 PM on Saturday afternoon May 21. The back gate swings open at 10:00 AM and rotating practice for all six divisions gets underway at noon.

ACT NEWS: DEVILS' BOWL SPRING GREEN 111 UP NEXT FOR ACT US

For Immediate Release                    ACT – 051611-28

Waterbury, VT – The American Canadian Tour (ACT) will make its first ever appearance at the fast ½ mile Devil’s Bowl Speedway in West Haven, VT this Sunday afternoon. The 38th running of the Spring Green 111 is expecting to have over 30 teams converge on the scenic, newly paved speed plant, built and operated by the Richards family since 1967. The inaugural event one year ago opened the renovated semi-banked progressive track with the Thunder Road ACT Late Models. The battle between local favorite Mike Bruno from nearby Rutland and former Thunder Road Champion David Pembroke was a classic 100-lap battle seen by a full house and a very enthusiastic crowd.

“It was a return to the asphalt Late Models for me and really turned out to be one of the most fun races I have ever been a part of,” said Mike Bruno.

“The track raced great and trading the lead for most of the 100 laps with Pembroke was a great way to begin the process of changing from 30 plus years of dirt racing to the asphalt at Devil’s Bowl. I am really looking forward to going back there this weekend,” concluded Bruno.

The change from a Thunder Road point race to a full ACT event will see lots of new faces taking on the ½ mile. Only 6 of the 27 teams that opened the 2010 season are expected to return with the ACT US Tour this coming Sunday. One of the returning teams includes 7-time ACT Champion Jean-Paul Cyr from Milton, Vermont. Cyr is a former dirt racer from Devil’s Bowl, and after an experiment as a driver only for various teams over the past couple years, he has returned to running his own team on the ACT in 2011.

“I would really like to get things headed in the right direction at Devil’s Bowl this weekend. It takes some time to get a new team going and we are all excited about going back to Devil’s Bowl. The competition is so tough on this tour (ACT), but hopefully we will have a little edge with the experience we gained last year when we opened the new asphalt track. It was a great race and I expect it will be even better this year” said Cyr.

Other veteran teams heading to Devil’s Bowl with some experience from last season include John Donahue from Graniteville, VT who currently sits second in points on the ACT and has to be considered one of the favorites to pick off his first win of 2011. He will be joined by veteran Joey Laquerre, Barre, VT, Jamie Fisher, Shelburne, VT, and Brent Dragon from Milton.

“This is one of my favorite races. My dad (Harmon ‘Beaver’ Dragon) is the all-time winningest driver of this race. He won three Spring Green events back in the 70’s at Catamount Stadium in Milton (VT). I won the race at Airborne Speedway, Plattsburgh, NY in 2004 when it was an ACT Late Model race. I think it was moved to Sanair Super Speedway one year (1988) when Robbie Crouch won, and now it is back in Vermont. You bet I would like to win at Devil’s Bowl. It would really get us going this year after a couple of mechanical problems in the first two races at Lee and Thunder Road,” said Dragon.

The list of ACT competitors seeing Devil’s Bowl for the first time should make the season opener at Devil’s Bowl an outstanding event. Defending ACT Champion Brian Hoar and his RPM team with sensational 17 year old teammate, sophomore driver Austin Theriault from Fort Kent, ME, will join veteran New Hampshire racers Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. (Pole), Randy Potter, Wayne Helliwell and Quinney Welch. New York sends the Richard Green Racing entry with Mark Lamberton from Mooers Forks. The field will be full of newcomers to ACT led by leading Rookie of the Year candidate Ben Ashline from Pittston, ME, Ray Parent, Tiverton, RI, Peter Yetman,Peru, MA, and Tom Carey, Jr. from New Salem, MA.  Over thirty teams are expected to attempt to qualify.

“We had a great event at Devil’s Bowl a year ago and the entire ACT staff of officials is looking forward to returning. The management has made lots of changes in various track policies, which I am sure will please many of the ACT fans who return for the Tour event this coming Sunday. Bringing the Spring Green to this fabulous ½ mile in Vermont is really special and with the great history of the race, it seems appropriate to have it back in Vermont,” said Tom Curley, President of the American Canadian Tour.

The 38th annual Spring Green 111 will take green at 2:00pm on Sunday, May 22, 2011 at the Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Rte. 22A is West Haven, VT. Admission is just $20 with kids 5-12 only $6.

PASS North: Ramstrom repeats at Star

Dearborn dominates, late cautions set up wild finish

EPPING NH (5/14) – Derek Ramstrom returned to the site of his first Pro All Stars Series super late model win and claimed the lead on lap 148 of the 150 lap feature to capture his first PASS North win since July of 2009. Ben Rowe raced home in second with Joey Polewarczyk third.

Richie Dearborn dominated ninety percent of the night. Dearborn started on the front row and fought off a handful of restart challenges, opening up a comfortable lead each time. But late in the race his ride went off song and Scott Chubbuck ate away at his lead and took control with eight laps to go.

But on lap 144 the yellow flag flew, setting up one of the wildest finishes in the Pro All Star's 200-plus feature race history.

Chubbuck was now in control with Johnny Clark to his outside and Joey Pole on his bumper with Dearborn back to fourth. When the green waved the top three were beating and banging to the extent that Chubbuck, Clark and Polewarczyk wound up parked on top of turn two. Dearborn shot under them all to reclaim the lead with Lonnie Sommerville second. Ramstrom to third and Joey Doiron fourth t when the caution flew.

The next green didn't stay out for long. Dearborn spun out of the lead with a tire that finally went flat and Derek Ramstrom threaded the needle to capture the top spot. Doiron made it all the way to second with Ben Rowe now third for the green-white-checker finish

Ramstrom shot into the lead when the final green flag flew and Rowe was looking under Doiron for second. Doiron's great run ended with the checkered flag in sight when the 2010 PASS North Rookie of the Year took a trip into the front stretch wall. When the dust settled Ramstrom had his third PASS North career win, Ben Rowe crossed the line in second on a flat right rear and Joey Pole came back to where he started when the late race melee began, in third. Lonnie Sommerville crossed the stripe in fourth and Scott Chubbuck recovered to salvage a top five. Point leader Johnny Clark came home eighth.

Ramstrom's margin of victory was .974 seconds; nine of the twenty two starters finished on the lead lap. Heat race wins went to Polewarczyk, Dearborn and Doiron.

The Pro All Stars are back in New Hampshire for another quarter mile throw down at North Woodstock's White Mountain Motorsports Park on Saturday May 21. PASS super late model qualifying goes green at 4:00 PM.
