DISQUALIFICATION DE L'ÉQUIPE LABBÉ DE LA CAN-AM 200

(Waterbury, VT)—La direction de l’American-Canadian Tour (ACT) a annoncé, aujourd’hui, les sanctions imposées à l’équipe Labbé (36QC) de la série ACT-Castrol pour les violations à sa réglementation survenues lors de la Can-Am 200 disputée au circuit Ste-Croix/Riverside Speedway, le 11 septembre dernier. Labbé a été disqualifié et privé de sa victoire lorsque l’équipe a refusé que le moteur de la voiture soit saisi à la suite d’un protêt logé par une autre équipe, le tout en conformité avec les procédures et règlements de l’ACT :

 

 

Voici les détails spécifiques des pénalités.

 

1-    Perte des points de championnat et la bourse de 5 000 $ pour la première position de cet événement.

 

2-    Perte de tous les points de la saison au classement de la série ACT-Castrol.

 

3-    Suspension de l’équipe Labbé (36QC) pour la balance de la saison 2011.

(L’équipe devait participer à l’ACT 300, le 18 septembre à l’Autodrome St-Eustache, à l’INVITATION ACT qui sera courue au New Hampshire Motor Speedway, le 24 septembre prochain ainsi qu’au Fall Foliage 200 à la piste Airborne de Plattsburgh, le 8 octobre prochain)

 

4-    Une amende de 3 000 $ payable en totalité au fonds de points RPQ           (Regroupement des pilotes du Québec) avant toute requête de réinstallation dans les rangs de l’ACT.

 

5-    Le moteur GM Crate portant le numéro de série VZ360 est banni de toutes compétitions sanctionnées par l’ACT et ce, jusqu’à avis contraire.

 

6-    Le moteur GM Crate portant le numéro de série VZ360 devra être expédié à un endroit spécifique selon les instructions de l’ACT pour une inspection approuvée.

 

(Cette obligation demeure, même si l’équipe Labbé (36QC) vend ledit moteur. Le nouveau propriétaire devra se soumettre à cette inspection technique s’il veut prendre part à une épreuve de l’Américan-Canadian Tour. Tous les frais encourus par cette inspection concernant le moteur précité seront la responsabilité de l’équipe Labbé et inclus dans la vente de celui-ci et accompagné du consentement du nouveau propriétaire. Cette pénalité demeure indépendamment que le moteur soit légal ou pas, ou que le moteur subisse des modifications avant son envoi à l’ACT.)

 

7-    L’Équipe Labbé (36QC) sera sous probation pour une période d’une année complète à la date de sa réinstallation. Un autre manquement par l’équipe Labbé (36QC) à la réglementation des moteurs, amortisseurs ou pneus lors d’une compétition de l’ACT pourrait résulter à une suspension à vie.

 

 

Lorsque questionné, au sujet de la sévérité des pénalités, Tom Curley, le président de l’American-Canadian Tour a déclaré : « Depuis les 12 dernières années, les succès du programme des moteurs crate/spec ont été basés sur l’intégrité du moteur crate, des amortisseurs scellés et des pneus sans altération.»

 

« Alex est un excellent jeune talent de la même trempe que Joey Polewarczyk, Austin Theriault et Nick Sweet. Il est difficile de comprendre pourquoi que lorsque le protêt a été logé que l’équipe ait refusé toutes les options offertes par nous afin d’essayer de résoudre le problème. Il s’agit de la première violation de ce genre des 27 années de l’American-Canadian Tour. Je crois qu’Alex et son équipe peuvent se conformer aux pénalités et poursuivre cette carrière en course qui laisse envisager beaucoup de promesses.

LABBE TEAM DISQUALIFIED FROM CAN-AM 200 EVENT

        Waterbury, VT – The American Canadian Tour (ACT) announced today penalties imposed on the Alex Labbe ACT Castrol team for violations incurred at the CAN-AM 200 held at the Riverside Speedway in Ste. Croix, QC on September 11, 2011. Labbe was disqualified from his win when the team refused to allow their engine to be impounded after a protest was filed by another race team, which is in keeping with ACT rules and procedures.

 

The following outlines the specific penalties:

 

        1. Forfeit of the championship points and $5,000 first place purse money from the event.

 

        2. Loss of all points for the season standings in the ACT Castrol Series.

 

        3. Suspension from ACT racing for the remainder of the 2011 season.

 

          [The team had been scheduled to race this weekend (September18, 2011) at the Autodrome Ste. Eustache, Laval, QC in their annual 300 lap event; at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway on September 24, 2011 in the $80,000 ACT Invitational; and the Fall Foliage 200 at Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh, NY on October 8, 2011.]

 

        4. A fine of $3,000, payable in full to the RPQ point fund prior to consideration for reinstatement in ACT racing.

 

        5. GM crate motor serial # VZ360 is banned from racing in any ACT sanctioned event until further notice.

 

        6. GM crate motor serial # VZ360 must be brought to a pre-determined location as instructed by ACT for an approved technical                inspection. [This requirement, whether by the #36QC team, or if sold, by a team purchasing the engine, is a contingent factor on the possible reinstatement of the #36QC team and/or the VZ 360 engine competing in future ACT racing. All expenses regarding the inspection of the aforementioned engine will be the responsibility of the #36QC team, or must be included as a part of any sale agreement to a new owner who intends to use the VZ360 motor in ACT competition. This penalty clause will be in effect regardless of whether the engine is now legal or illegal, or whether the engine undergoes any modification prior to turning it over to ACT for inspection.]

 

7.     The #36QC team (Alex Labbe) will be on probation for a period of one full year from the date of reinstatement of the suspension, if that should occur. A further violation by the #36QC team of engine, shock or tire rules in ACT competition may result in life-long suspension from ACT racing.

 

When asked why the penalties were so severe, Tom Curley, President of the American Canadian Tour said, “For the past 12 years, the entire success of our crate/spec program has used as its basic foundation maintaining the integrity of the crate motor, sealed shocks and unaltered tires. 

 

Alex is an excellent young talent, right up there with Joey Polewarczyk, Jr., Austin Theriault, and Nick Sweet in terms of talent. It is difficult to understand why, when the protest was filed, the team refused every option we offered to try and resolve the issue. This is the first violation of this kind in the 27-year history of ACT racing. I am hopeful that Alex and his team can comply with the penalties and move on to what is sure to be a promising racing career.”

Clark Claims PASS North White Mountain win

North Woodstock NH (9/11) Johnny Clark kicked in the jets with 50 laps to go in Sunday afternoons Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North 150 at White Mountain Motorsports Park, winning a side by side battle with DJ Shaw to take the lead on lap 131 and nip Shaw for his sixth PASS North win of 2011. Shaw led the majority of the 150 green flag laps but had to settle for second. PASS rookie Bryan Kruczek led his share of laps and raced home a strong third, with Alex Gingras and Lonnie Sommerville rounding out the top five.

 

For ten seasons Clark and his Clark's Car Crushing team couldn't find the key to PASS victory lane at White Mountain, but he 's now won 2 of his last three starts at the fast quarter mile. His victory coupled with points challenger Ben Rowe's seventeenth place finish padded the defending series champions' point lead. Rowe was caught up in an early race wreck that took the nose off RMR ride, destroying any chance of a win at one of his favorite speedways..

 

Shaw and Kruzcek were the show for much of the race. The pair shared the front row and from the drop of the green they battled tooth and nail, swapping the lead on several occasions and distancing themselves from the field. Kruczek took over the top spot on lap nine and kept it until lap 69 when Shaw made his move . At the crossed flags it was Shaw, and Kruczek out front with Sommerville, Gingras and Travis Benjamin all giving chase.. Clark showed up in the top five at lap 85, picking off Gingras for fourth, Sommerville on lap 93 and Kruczek one lap later. Catching Shaw would be another matter though, as the Center Conway NH racer had his ride on a rail, and as the green flag laps ran down he was opening up a gap on Clark. But as so often happens, a yellow flag brought Shaw back to the field and the restart gave Clark the opportunity he needed to deny Shaw the checkers.

 

Clark's margin of victory as just .338 seconds. The race was slowed by seven cautions, and twelve of the twenty two starters completed all 150 green flag laps. Kruczek, Shaw and Scott Dragon won their qualifiers.

 

PASS 400 weekend presented by Southern Maine Motors.com is up next, with the mid week special kicking off the festivities on Thursday September 15 at 5:45 PM. Friday is a day of practice for all divisions, Qualifiers are on Saturday and the PASS 300, PASS Sportsman 100 and PASS Mod 50 are slated for Sunday. The 300 lap go for the super late models is round number four of the six race PASS National Championship series. Both days go green at 12:00 noon. Support divisions will round out both big days. Brian Hoar Secures 8th ACT Title with $10,000+ Quebec Weekend Sweep

ACT Awards $80,000+ in Doubleheader Weekend

Waterbury, VT – Williston, Vermont’s Brian Hoar secured his 8th career American-Canadian Tour Championship following a sweep of the doubleheader weekend in Quebec. Hoar earned over $10,000 for his Rick Paya Motorsports team with wins in the “Showdown at Chaudiere” at Autodrome Chaudiere in Vallee-Jct., QC and the Riverside Can-Am 200 at Riverside Speedway in Ste-Croix, QC.

 

Hoar started the weekend by piloting his Goss Dodge Charger to a dominating performance on Saturday, September 10 in the fourth annual “Showdown at Chaudiere.” He led the U.S. team to the overall victory and pocketed $5,500 after the $500 bonus.

His RPM team then headed to Circuit Riverside Speedway for the previously postponed Can-Am 200. Hoar used a last lap pass to earn an apparent second place finish, but then inherited his second win of the weekend following a post race disqualification and picked up the $5,000 check.

Hoar’s win on Sunday secured his third straight ACT title, all of which came with the Rick Paya-led RPM team, and his eighth career title. It was also his 33rd career win, the most of any driver in the history of the ACT Late Model Tour.

ACT competitors saw overflow crowds both days this weekend as the ACT Late Model Tour and its sister series, the Série ACT Castrol, competed in a doubleheader north of the border. The two events saw a combined purse of over $80,000 for the two events.

The big money events of the ACT season kicked off with $120,000+ ACT All-Star Challenge at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) and the $5,000 to win Labor Day Classic. They will continue with the $75,000+ Third annual ACT Invitational at NHMS, the 49th Annual People’s United Bank Milk Bowl at Thunder Road with an over $75,000 purse and the season finale Fall Foliage 300 at Airborne Speedway.

With the title wrapped up, Hoar can now turn his focus to completing the NHMS sweep by winning the ACT Invitational on Saturday, September 24. Hoar won the first-ever ACT Late Model Challenge at NHMS in August.

ALEX LABBÉ DISQUALIFIÉ ET BRIAN HOAR CONNAIT UN WEEK-END PARFAIT

Can-Am 200 au Circuit Ste-Croix/Riverside

 

Le jeune Alex Labbé a été le premier à rallier la ligne d’arrivée lors de la reprise de la deuxième édition de la Can-Am 200, cet après-midi, au circuit Ste-Croix/Riverside Speedway, mais ce n’est pas lui qui a été crédité de la victoire. Lors de l’inspection technique, le clan Labbé a refusé de soumettre sa voiture à un examen plus approfondi faisant suite à un protêt déposé par l’équipe Laperle concernant le moteur de la voiture gagnant.

 

Labbé a donc été disqualifié sur le champ en raison de ce refus et il a perdu la bourse et les points accordés. En plus, il est suspendu de l’American-Canadian Tour en raison de ce refus.

 

Deuxième derrière Labbé, Brian Hoar, le vainqueur de l’an dernier et également gagnant du Showdown Budweiser à l’Autodrome Chaudière, samedi soir, a donc hérité de la victoire,sa deuxième d’affilée. Deuxième sur la grille de départ, Hoar qui est un multiple champion de la série américaine ACT, avait mené le bal en quatre occasions et il était grandement favori pour l’emporter. Dommage pour Labbé, mais son refus d’obtempérer à l’examen de son moteur a causé sa perte.

 

Faisant suite à cela, les amateurs ont eu droit à un podium complètement américain lors de cet événement qui comptait pour les deux championnats de l’ACT. Après avoir mené 70 passages dans la dernière portion de l’épreuve, Wayne Helliwell a pris la deuxième place suivi de son compatriote, Nick Sweet. Helliwell a été l’auteur d’une belle remontée, car il occupait la 21e position sur la grille de départ.

 

Patrick Laperle, le pilote de la Fusion LaSalle/Ford qui occupait la 18e position sur la grille, a remonté le peloton jusqu’en deuxième. Un arrêt peut-être tardif à son puits de ravitaillement et un dérapage au 143e passage n’ont pas aidé sa cause. Il a perdu un tour pour terminer en 11e.

 

Patrick Hamel, le favori local a été le sixième à rallier la ligne d’arrivée. Sylvain Lacombe avec une huitième et Claude Leclerc une dixième ont complété le peloton des dix premiers. Lacombe était parti de la 32e place et c’est à lui que revient l’honneur de la meilleur progession.

 

Belle remontée

Donald Theetge de Québec, après avoir mené pendant trois tours (111-113), a occupé la deuxième place derrière Wayne Helliwell durant une bonne portion de la deuxième moitié. Cependant, un arrêt hâtif à son puits à en quelque sorte causé sa perte puisqu’il s’est arrêté subitement sur la piste au 192e. En raison de cela, il s’est classé 14e avec deux tours de retard.

 

Puis, en ce qui concerne Karl Allard, le champion en titre, ce fut une autre journée à oublier. Il a multiplié les arrêts à son puits de ravitaillement et chose peu familière pour lui, il a connu une sortie de piste pour être classé 21e avec un déficit de dix tours.

 

Cinq pilotes différents ont échangé le poste de commande en douze occasions dans cette épreuve ponctuée de quinze ralentissements dont la majorité pour des dérapages ou sorties de piste.

 

La onzième manche de cette série ACT-Castrol, le St-Eustache 300, aura lieu au complexe motorisé du même nom, dimanche prochain.

Brian Hoar Inherits Riverside Can-Am 200 Win

Ste-Croix, QC – Seven-time ACT Champion Brian Hoar inherited his second win of the weekend in the ACT Late Model Tour and Série ACT Castrol combination Can-Am 200 at Circuit Riverside Speedway in Ste-Croix, QC on Sunday, September 11. Hoar finished second to apparent winner Alex Labbé. Labbé was disqualified for failing to comply with a protest by the #91QC team of his ACT sealed crate motor. Labbe was disqualified from the event with no points and no money and has been suspended from further ACT competition for failing to comply with the requested teardown of his motor.

Hoar inherited his second win of the weekend following his “Showdown at Chaudiere” win on Saturday, September 10. It was his 33rd career ACT Late Model Tour win and second straight Can-Am 200 win. Wayne Helliwell, Jr. took over second followed by Hoar’s teammate Nick Sweet in third. Austin Theriualt and Brent Dragon completed the top five.

 

Patrick Hamel, Joey Polewarczyk, Jr., Sylvain Lacombe, Claude Leclerc and David Michaud rounded out the top ten. The 200 lap event was completed in two hours and twenty-nine minutes with fifteen cautions.

The Série ACT Castrol competitors will head to Autodrome St-Eustache in St-Eustache, QC next Sunday, September 18 for the St-Eustache 300. It will be the final event at St-Eustache for the season and the second to final point counting event of the season. The ACT Late Model Tour has one point counting event remaining at Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh, NY on Saturday, October 8.

Big Block Rocks at Airborne

Perrotte wins Mohawk Casino 100

SOUTH PLATTSBURGH, NY – The Charley Trombley Memorial 100 Big Block/Small Block Challenge went the way of the Big Block Sunday as Mike Perrotte landed the Adirondack Auto No. 35 in Airborne Speedway’s victory lane.

 

 Perrotte started on the pole after a random draw inverted the top three qualifiers. He led every step of the way in the Mohawk Casino/Rent-A-Wreck event, despite being pressed hard from laps 50-70 by Martin Roy. The 2011 Airborne champion from Napierville, QC ran the low lane and worked his way to Perrotte’s door in turns one and two several times, only to have Perrotte pull away down the back chute.

 

Two restarts in the final 10 laps proved to be no problem for the winner. “I thought it was possible to keep the tires under a Big Block for 100 laps, but starting up front was a help,” Perrotte said. “I never had to work the car really hard in lapped traffic.”

 

“With the rev limiters we run, the difference in power turned out to be a little too much,” Roy said. “I could get to him, but I couldn’t get around him.” Perrotte’s winning margin was five car lengths.

 

A few car-lengths behind the Perrotte/Roy battle, George Foley and Patrick Dupree ran 3-4 until a lap 81 restart after tire failure ended Pat McGrail’s top-10 run. Dupree took over third at the drop of the green and never gave it up. “With the extra-distance and the sun, the car loose, something we’ve been fighting all season,” Dupree said.

 

Lebanon Valley regular Keith Flach, Perrotte’s front row partner at the outset, rallied back from fifth to pass Foley for fourth with five laps to go. Foley finished fifth, followed by Aaron Bartemy, Leon Gonyo, Martin Hebert, Roger Labreche and Andy Heywood.

 

Danny Sullivan of Morrisonville drove to his first J&S Steel Sportsman win of the season after several near-misses. Sullivan took the lead on lap 8 and was never headed. Bucko Branham reeled in Jamy Begor to place second. Positions 3-5 went to Begor, 2011 Sportsman champion Robin Wood and Nick Heywood.

 

Joe Warren of West Chazy also became a first-time winner by holding off Don Franklin in the Versatile Trailer Sales Renegade feature. Robert Gordon, Lonnie Rivers and 2011 Renegade champion Kevin Boutin completed the top five,

 

The Modified Sportsman made their Airborne debut. Their 25-lap feature was won by 16-year-old Jessey Mueller of Pottersville, NY. Hunter Bates of Pittsford, VT was the runner-up.

VICTOIRE DE JEAN-FRANÇOIS BOUVRETTE

PELLETIER COURONNÉ CHAMPION

2 FILLES SUR LE PODIUM EN SPORT COMPACTES LUCAS OIL

 

Jean François Bouvrette, le policier de St-Jérôme a terminé la saison Sportsman ANCA en beauté en remportant sa deuxième finale de la saison et en remportant le titre de vice-champion de sa division. C’est cependant Maxime Pelletier qui a remporté le titre de CHAMPION 2011 de sa catégorie à l’Autodrome St-Eustache. Pelletier a accumulé 7 victoires au cours de la saison 2011.

 

C’est STEVE LAGACÉ, un autre Jérômien, qui s’est élancé de la pôle-position avec sa voiture Montréal Auto-Prix #73  pour cette finale de 75 tours. Lagacé est parvenu à maintenir la cadence jusqu’au 15e passage où il a été rejoint par Jean-François Bouvrette (38) et Maxime Pelletier (66)  suivis de Stéphane Aubin (26) qui se sont accaparés des trois premières positions. Bouvrette n’a jamais été inquiété par la suite et a maintenu sa première position jusqu’à la fin.

 

Beaucoup d’action cependant à partir de la 2e position vers l’arrière alors qu’il y a eu des luttes sans merci entre Pelletier, les Goulet père (84) et fils (83), ainsi que Stéphane Aubin (26) et le jeune Dave Coursol (94) et Marc-Antoine Demers (422) qui se sont échangés les positions 2 à 7 pendant toute la course. Aubin et Demers ont été les plus malchanceux, un accrochage avec un retardataire les ayant relayés en dernière position. C’est finalement STEVE LAGACÉ qui, ayant su éviter tous ces obstacle, qui a pris la troisième marche du podium. Martin Goulet jr (83) et Dave Coursol (Carquest #94) ont complété le premier groupe de cinq lors de cette dernière course de la saison pour les pilotes de la division Sportsman ANCA. Maxime Pelletier et Martin Goulet ont été vainqueurs des courses préléminaires.

 

Une première en Sport Compacte : deux demoiselles sur le podium !

Profitant d’une pôle position, LYNE VALIQUETTE de Mirabel a mené de bout en bout la finale de trente tours en Sport-Compactes pour devenir la 8e pilote différente à remporter une victoire en Sport Compacte Lucas Oil en 2011 et la première femme à éditer cette exploit avec sa Honda ReMax / Cage aux Sports #13. Cindy Francoeur (38), pour sa part a bien failli terminer en 2e position, mais c’est Stéphane Langevin (08) qui lui a ravi sa 2e position au tout dernier tour de l’épreuve. Mlle Francoeur a quand même terminé sur la 3e marche du podium, une première à signaler que 2 femmes sur le podium d’une finale en Sport Compactes. Mme Valiquette et Marc Antoine Demers (422) ont gagné les qualifications Sport Compactes.

Du côté du classement général, Steve Ladouceur (31) a maintenu sa place en première position, mais c’est derrière lui que les positions ont encore changé. C’est le jeune JASON MORAND qui occupe maintenant le 2e rang, 13 points derrière Ladouceur et 3 devant  Marc-Antoine Demers (422). Tout un duel de fin de saison à prévoir pour les deux autres épreuves qui restent à venir.

 

Production et Challenge 4

C’est PATRICK LEPORÉ (12) de Mirabel qui a remporté la préliminaire et la finale de 30 tours en Production, sa 4e, devant Steve Ladouceur (29) de Ste Agathe et Dominic Bergeron (41) de St-Lin-Laurentides, Alain Bougie (14) a remporté l’autre préliminaire.

En Challenge 4, Louis-Alexandre Dupuis (95) de Laval a eu le dessus (sa 7e victoire) sur  Yannick Miron (90) de Ste Marthe sur le lac et sur Stéphane Dupuis de St-Colomban qui remplaçait Johnny Pacheco sur la voiture 68. Robert Guindon (41), Mathieu Latreille (34) et Keven Huet (85) ont été les gagnants des Préliminaires Challenge 4.

 

ACT 300 dimanche prochain

Le prochain programme sera présenté dimanche prochain le 18 septembre et mettra en vedette la troupe de Tom Curley, les LMS de la Série ACT Castrol-Edge pour une finale de 300 tours. Les autres divisions de l’ANCA, les Sport Compactes, Légendes Modifiées, Production et Challenge 4 seront également de la partie.

La 2e journée d’activités du Race Mania 7, était présentée à l’Autodrome Drummond. Un horaire encore chargée avec la 2e visite cette saison de la série Super DIRTcar Gros-Blocs, les grandes vedettes américaines et canadiennes, étaient en présence pour y disputer une finale de 100 tours.

The second day of activities occurred at Autodrome Drummond part of Race Mania 7. Another huge schedule with the Super DIRTcar Big-Block Series in town with several invaders from United-States and Canada to compete in a 100-lap event, along with the Modifieds, the Sportsman had a 50-lap event and the STR were also in competition for a 25-lap race part of a National Series event.

 

Les Sportsman étaient également du spectacle avec une épreuve de 50 tours alors que les STR y disputaient deux manches nationales de 25 tours.

Un peloton de 30 voitures, ont pris le départ dans la finale tant attendue de 100 tours dans la série Super DIRTcar Gros-Blocs, Billy Decker est dominant dans la première portion de l’épreuve alors qu’il mène les 30 premiers tours de la finale. Utilisant la ligne extérieure, Steve Bernard obtient la position de tête et reste aux commandes jusqu’à la mi-épreuve alors qu’il a des ennuis avec la pression d’huile et cède la place à Decker qui est de retour en tête, celui-ci résiste aux charges de Sheppard pendant plusieurs tours. Sheppard utilise la ligne intérieure pour dépasser Decker au 68e tour, ce dernier est extrêmement rapide et se sauve rapidement en tête. Sheppard mène la dernière partie de la course pour remporter la finale devant Dale Planck, Jimmy Phelps, Billy Decker et Sébastien Gougeon qui termine 5e et s’est mérité un bonis de $500 offert à la meilleure voiture 358-Modifié.

Dans la finale de 50 tours, le vétéran René Clair mène les 17 premiers tours et se fait passer l’ancien pilote modifié, Frederic Gamache. Alors que Gamache roulait seul en tête, le champion 2011, Steve Bernier s’est frayé un chemin jusqu’en 3e position lorsque la course atteint la moitié après avoir parti 18e. Une bonne bataille a lieu entre Bernier et Clair pour la 2e, Bernier a réussi à remporter celle-ci au 35e tour. Gamache mène les derniers tours de l’épreuve pour remporter sa première victoire de la saison sur Bernier et Alain Mathieu qui complète le podium.

Dû au couvre feu imposé hier soir, les STR ont disputés 2 finales de 25 tours. Lors de la première finale, Yannick Poirier prend les commandes de l’épreuve devant Gabriel Richer et Brittany Wixxon. Ces trois pilotes ont étés dominant tout au long de l’épreuve, Poirier a mené de bout en bout pour remporter la victoire.

Dans la deuxième finale en STR, Brittany Wixxon, jeune femme de 15 ans a mené la finale au complet en première pour remporter la victoire devant Yannick Mathieu et le constructeur de ces voitures, Richie Tobias.

Ce programme était le dernier de la saison 2011, l’Autodrome Drummond aimerait remercier tous les amateurs, les coureurs ainsi que tous les précieux commanditaires pour leur support tout au long de cette saison. Le promoteur Yan Bussière a annoncé une bonne nouvelle ce soir alors qu’il y aura des courses en 2012 à Drummond faisant taire les nombreuses rumeurs concernant la fermeture possible de la piste.

A great field of 30 cars took the green in the long awaited 100-lap Super DIRTcar Big-Block Series, Billy Decker was dominant in the first portion of the race as he led the first 30 laps of the feature. Using the outside lane, Steve Bernard got the lead and stayed in front until the halfway point as he had issues with oil pressure and this ended his great run and this gave back the lead to Decker. Sheppard was a strong contender and he battled with Decker for the lead during several laps. Sheppard used the low lane to take the top spot on lap 68 and was the fastest car on the speedway as he never looked back to win the feature over Dale Planck, Jimmy Phelps, Billy Decker and Sébastien Gougeon finished in fifth and took home an extra $500 as he was the best 358-Modified driver.

In the 50-lap Sportsman feature, veteran Rene Clair led the first 17 laps as he got passed by former modified driver, Frederic Gamache. While Gamache was running strong in the lead, the 2011 track champion, Steve Bernier made his way through the pack as he was in the top 3 by the halfway point after starting 18th. A great battle for second between Bernier and Clair, as Bernier won the fight by getting second on lap 35. Gamache led the final portion of the race and won his first feature this season over Bernier and Alain Mathieu completed the podium.

With last night`s curfew, the STR had 2 features of a 25-lap distance. In the first final, Yannick Poirier took the early lead with Gabriel Richer and Brittany Wixxon. These 3 drivers were strong in front as they dominated all feature long, Poirier led all the laps to win the race.

In the second STR feature, the 15-years old lady, Brittany Wixxon led from wire to wire and get the got the feature over Yannick Mathieu and STR car builder, Richie Tobias completed the podium.

This was the last program in the 2011 season. Autodrome Drummond would like to thank all the fans, drivers and also the sponsors for their support throughout the season. Promoter Yan Bussière announced great news tonight as there will be some races in 2012 ending all rumours about next year.

Brian Hoar Dominates Showdown at Chaudiere

U.S. Team Takes Fourth Straight Overall

Vallee-Jct., QC – Seven-time ACT Tour Champion Brian Hoar of Williston, VT dominated the fourth annual “Showdown at Chaudiere” and led the U.S. team to the overall win and the $500 bonus per U.S. team. Hoar led every one of the 200 laps at Autodrome Chaudiere in Vallee, Jct., QC on Saturday, September 10. He held off several Canadian teams including Jean-François Déry and Karl Allard early, before outrunning Patrick Laperle in the final laps.

Laperle and Allard would take second and third respectively, while Wayne Helliwell, Jr. came from 17th and Randy Potter worked his way from 14th to complete the top five. Déry faded to sixth, followed by Dany Trepanier, Austin Theriault, Theetge and Glen Luce in the top ten.

The U.S. team would finish with a combined 146 points, while the Canadian team finished with 154 points. For the fourth straight Showdown the U.S. team claimed the overall win and each team will pocket a $500 bonus.

 

The event was completed in one hour and eight minutes with just seven cautions. The top ten cars completed all 200 laps with 20 of them on the start at the finish.

The majority of the Showdown teams will head to Circuit Riverside Speedway in Ste-Croix, QC for the previously postponed Can-Am 200. The 36 car field was set before the rains came on Saturday, August 27. The field will go green at 1:30pm tomorrow, Sunday, September 11.

Showdown Budweiser 200 à l'Autodrome Chaudière - BRIAN HOAR DE FIL EN FIL

Le multiple champion américain, Brian Hoar, s’est littéralement moqué de l’opposition pour remporter facilement la quatrième édition du Showdown Budweiser 200. Partant de la première place Hoar a dominé du début à la fin en dépit de sept ralentissements. Patrick Laperle de St-Denis-sur-Richelieu a pris la deuxième place suivi du champion en titre de la série ACT-Castrol, Karl Allard de St-Félicien.

 

Durant la première moitié de l’épreuve, Jean-François Déry qui occupait la deuxième place, a livré une bataille à Hoar lors des relances, mais à chaque fois, l’éventuel vainqueur sortait gagnant. Allard et Donald Theetge étaient également dans le peloton des cinq premiers. Puis au 121e tour, les bolides de Theetge et Déry se sont touchés. Furieux Theetge a dû prendre place à l’arrière alors que Déry est demeuré à sa position. C’est en neuvième place que Theetge a franchi la ligne d’arrivée.

 

Même s’il avait sa voiture de réserve, Laperle a encore prouvé son grand talent.  Douzième au départ, Laperle a su saisir les occasions et a remonté le peloton tranquillement. Il s’est retrouvé en troisième position à la suite de l’incident Theetge-Déry et par la suite, il a pris la mesure d’Allard au 163e passage. Quant à Allard, il était parti troisième et a toujours demeuré parmi les premiers.

 

En début de course, le jeune Alex Labbé roulait très bien. Cependant, il a connu sa part d’ennuis pour visiter son puits à plusieurs occasions et terminer 21e.

 

Pour une quatrième année consécutive, ce sont les Américains qui ont remporté le Showdown Budweiser par un pointage de 146 à 154.

 

Les qualifications

À l’occasion des préliminaires, Alex Labbé n’a pas perdu de temps et il a gagné la première devant Ben Ashline et Patrick Laperle alors que dans la médiane, l’Américain Brent Dragon, le gagnant de 2009, a mené de fil en fil pour avoir le meilleur devant Dany Trépanier et Jean-François Déry. Puis, dans la troisième, Patrick Cliche a résisté aux assauts de Brian Hoar pour triompher. John Donohue a pris la troisième position.

 

Lors des essais chronométrés, c’est l’Américain Brian Hoar qui s’est avéré le plus rapide. Il a d’ailleurs été le seul à tourner en deçà des 13 secondes, soit 12,958 secondes. Chez les Québécois, Marc-André Cliche a été le plus rapide avec un chrono de 13,154 secondes lors de la première alors que dans la deuxième, c’est Dany Trépanier qui s’est distingué. Son temps a été de 13,184 secondes. Dans la troisième, c’est Alex Labbé qui a été le meilleur avec 13,066 secondes, le même chrono qu’Austin Theriault.

 

 

 

 

Classes locales

Frédéric Blanchette de Lévis est celui qui a remporté la finale dans la classe Sport Compact. Ses victimes ont été Mario Roy de Victoriaville et Philippe Poulin de St-Georges. Puis, en classe Limité COOL FM 103,5, Stéphane Lecours de Lac Etchemin a visité le cercle des vainqueurs.  Il a été accompagné sur le podium par Jacques Vir de St-Georges et Julien Bernier de Ste-Marie.

 

Dimanche après-midi

Au circuit Ste-Croix/Riverside Speedway, on présentera la Can-Am 200, la dixième manche de la série ACT-Castrol. Cette épreuve regroupe 36 pilotes dont près de la moitié sont des Américains. La grille est déjà déterminée et c’est Brian Hoar, le gagnant de l’an dernier qui occupera la première place sur la grille de départ. Cette course compte également pour le championnat américain de l’ACT.
