DISQUALIFICATION DE L'ÉQUIPE LABBÉ DE LA CAN-AM 200

(Waterbury, VT)—La direction de l’American-Canadian Tour (ACT) a annoncé, aujourd’hui, les sanctions imposées à l’équipe Labbé (36QC) de la série ACT-Castrol pour les violations à sa réglementation survenues lors de la Can-Am 200 disputée au circuit Ste-Croix/Riverside Speedway, le 11 septembre dernier. Labbé a été disqualifié et privé de sa victoire lorsque l’équipe a refusé que le moteur de la voiture soit saisi à la suite d’un protêt logé par une autre équipe, le tout en conformité avec les procédures et règlements de l’ACT :

 

 

Voici les détails spécifiques des pénalités.

 

1-    Perte des points de championnat et la bourse de 5 000 $ pour la première position de cet événement.

 

2-    Perte de tous les points de la saison au classement de la série ACT-Castrol.

 

3-    Suspension de l’équipe Labbé (36QC) pour la balance de la saison 2011.

(L’équipe devait participer à l’ACT 300, le 18 septembre à l’Autodrome St-Eustache, à l’INVITATION ACT qui sera courue au New Hampshire Motor Speedway, le 24 septembre prochain ainsi qu’au Fall Foliage 200 à la piste Airborne de Plattsburgh, le 8 octobre prochain)

 

4-    Une amende de 3 000 $ payable en totalité au fonds de points RPQ           (Regroupement des pilotes du Québec) avant toute requête de réinstallation dans les rangs de l’ACT.

 

5-    Le moteur GM Crate portant le numéro de série VZ360 est banni de toutes compétitions sanctionnées par l’ACT et ce, jusqu’à avis contraire.

 

6-    Le moteur GM Crate portant le numéro de série VZ360 devra être expédié à un endroit spécifique selon les instructions de l’ACT pour une inspection approuvée.

 

(Cette obligation demeure, même si l’équipe Labbé (36QC) vend ledit moteur. Le nouveau propriétaire devra se soumettre à cette inspection technique s’il veut prendre part à une épreuve de l’Américan-Canadian Tour. Tous les frais encourus par cette inspection concernant le moteur précité seront la responsabilité de l’équipe Labbé et inclus dans la vente de celui-ci et accompagné du consentement du nouveau propriétaire. Cette pénalité demeure indépendamment que le moteur soit légal ou pas, ou que le moteur subisse des modifications avant son envoi à l’ACT.)

 

7-    L’Équipe Labbé (36QC) sera sous probation pour une période d’une année complète à la date de sa réinstallation. Un autre manquement par l’équipe Labbé (36QC) à la réglementation des moteurs, amortisseurs ou pneus lors d’une compétition de l’ACT pourrait résulter à une suspension à vie.

 

 

Lorsque questionné, au sujet de la sévérité des pénalités, Tom Curley, le président de l’American-Canadian Tour a déclaré : « Depuis les 12 dernières années, les succès du programme des moteurs crate/spec ont été basés sur l’intégrité du moteur crate, des amortisseurs scellés et des pneus sans altération.»

 

« Alex est un excellent jeune talent de la même trempe que Joey Polewarczyk, Austin Theriault et Nick Sweet. Il est difficile de comprendre pourquoi que lorsque le protêt a été logé que l’équipe ait refusé toutes les options offertes par nous afin d’essayer de résoudre le problème. Il s’agit de la première violation de ce genre des 27 années de l’American-Canadian Tour. Je crois qu’Alex et son équipe peuvent se conformer aux pénalités et poursuivre cette carrière en course qui laisse envisager beaucoup de promesses.

LABBE TEAM DISQUALIFIED FROM CAN-AM 200 EVENT

        Waterbury, VT – The American Canadian Tour (ACT) announced today penalties imposed on the Alex Labbe ACT Castrol team for violations incurred at the CAN-AM 200 held at the Riverside Speedway in Ste. Croix, QC on September 11, 2011. Labbe was disqualified from his win when the team refused to allow their engine to be impounded after a protest was filed by another race team, which is in keeping with ACT rules and procedures.

 

The following outlines the specific penalties:

 

        1. Forfeit of the championship points and $5,000 first place purse money from the event.

 

        2. Loss of all points for the season standings in the ACT Castrol Series.

 

        3. Suspension from ACT racing for the remainder of the 2011 season.

 

          [The team had been scheduled to race this weekend (September18, 2011) at the Autodrome Ste. Eustache, Laval, QC in their annual 300 lap event; at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway on September 24, 2011 in the $80,000 ACT Invitational; and the Fall Foliage 200 at Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh, NY on October 8, 2011.]

 

        4. A fine of $3,000, payable in full to the RPQ point fund prior to consideration for reinstatement in ACT racing.

 

        5. GM crate motor serial # VZ360 is banned from racing in any ACT sanctioned event until further notice.

 

        6. GM crate motor serial # VZ360 must be brought to a pre-determined location as instructed by ACT for an approved technical                inspection. [This requirement, whether by the #36QC team, or if sold, by a team purchasing the engine, is a contingent factor on the possible reinstatement of the #36QC team and/or the VZ 360 engine competing in future ACT racing. All expenses regarding the inspection of the aforementioned engine will be the responsibility of the #36QC team, or must be included as a part of any sale agreement to a new owner who intends to use the VZ360 motor in ACT competition. This penalty clause will be in effect regardless of whether the engine is now legal or illegal, or whether the engine undergoes any modification prior to turning it over to ACT for inspection.]

 

7.     The #36QC team (Alex Labbe) will be on probation for a period of one full year from the date of reinstatement of the suspension, if that should occur. A further violation by the #36QC team of engine, shock or tire rules in ACT competition may result in life-long suspension from ACT racing.

 

When asked why the penalties were so severe, Tom Curley, President of the American Canadian Tour said, “For the past 12 years, the entire success of our crate/spec program has used as its basic foundation maintaining the integrity of the crate motor, sealed shocks and unaltered tires. 

 

Alex is an excellent young talent, right up there with Joey Polewarczyk, Jr., Austin Theriault, and Nick Sweet in terms of talent. It is difficult to understand why, when the protest was filed, the team refused every option we offered to try and resolve the issue. This is the first violation of this kind in the 27-year history of ACT racing. I am hopeful that Alex and his team can comply with the penalties and move on to what is sure to be a promising racing career.”

Brian Hoar Secures 8th ACT Title with $10,000+ Quebec Weekend Sweep

ACT Awards $80,000+ in Doubleheader Weekend

Waterbury, VT – Williston, Vermont’s Brian Hoar secured his 8th career American-Canadian Tour Championship following a sweep of the doubleheader weekend in Quebec. Hoar earned over $10,000 for his Rick Paya Motorsports team with wins in the “Showdown at Chaudiere” at Autodrome Chaudiere in Vallee-Jct., QC and the Riverside Can-Am 200 at Riverside Speedway in Ste-Croix, QC.

 

Hoar started the weekend by piloting his Goss Dodge Charger to a dominating performance on Saturday, September 10 in the fourth annual “Showdown at Chaudiere.” He led the U.S. team to the overall victory and pocketed $5,500 after the $500 bonus.

His RPM team then headed to Circuit Riverside Speedway for the previously postponed Can-Am 200. Hoar used a last lap pass to earn an apparent second place finish, but then inherited his second win of the weekend following a post race disqualification and picked up the $5,000 check.

Hoar’s win on Sunday secured his third straight ACT title, all of which came with the Rick Paya-led RPM team, and his eighth career title. It was also his 33rd career win, the most of any driver in the history of the ACT Late Model Tour.

ACT competitors saw overflow crowds both days this weekend as the ACT Late Model Tour and its sister series, the Série ACT Castrol, competed in a doubleheader north of the border. The two events saw a combined purse of over $80,000 for the two events.

The big money events of the ACT season kicked off with $120,000+ ACT All-Star Challenge at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) and the $5,000 to win Labor Day Classic. They will continue with the $75,000+ Third annual ACT Invitational at NHMS, the 49th Annual People’s United Bank Milk Bowl at Thunder Road with an over $75,000 purse and the season finale Fall Foliage 300 at Airborne Speedway.

With the title wrapped up, Hoar can now turn his focus to completing the NHMS sweep by winning the ACT Invitational on Saturday, September 24. Hoar won the first-ever ACT Late Model Challenge at NHMS in August.

ACT Can-Am 200 at Riverside Postponed Due to Rain

Ste-Croix, QC – The ACT Late Model Tour and Série ACT Castrol combined Can-Am 200 at Circuit Riverside Speedway in Ste-Croix, QC scheduled for Saturday, August 27 has been postponed due to rain.

Forty-one cars attempted to qualify for the event with thirty-six making the field. The field of 36 was set before the rains came following the B-Feature. Those 36 cars will return on Sunday, September 11 to complete the 200 lap distance.

 

The ACT Late Model Tour will head to Thunder Road next weekend for the Bond Auto Labor Day Classic on Sunday, September 4. The Série ACT Castrol will have the weekend off before both series head to Autodrome Chaudiere in Vallee-Jct., QC for the fourth annual Showdown at Chaudiere on Saturday, September 10. The next day this Can-Am 200 make-up will be run.

Can-Am 200 au Circuit Ste-Croix/Riverside - ON SE REPRENDRA LE 11 SEPTEMBRE

La mauvaise température est venue mettre une fin abrupte à la présentation de la deuxième édition de la Can-Am 200 au circuit Ste-Croix/Riverside Speedway, une confrontation qui s’annonçait plus que fertile en émotions. C’est à l’issue du « feature B » qui la pluie a commencé à se manifester obligeant ainsi les organisateurs à reporter cette finale qui regroupera 36 participants, le 11 septembre en après-midi alors que la veille 22 d’entre eux seront à l’Autodrome Chaudière de Vallée-Jonction pour le quatrième, Showdown.

 

L’action n’a pas manqué lors des préliminaires alors que l’Américain Nick Sweet s’est permis de remporter la première devant ses compatriotes Wayne Helliwell Jr et Rick Wolfe alors que Patrick Laperle te Patrick Cliche ont complété le peloton des cinq premiers. Dans la deuxième, Karl Allard, le champion en titre de la série ACT-Castrol,a eu le meilleur devant Austin Theriault et Jimmy Cormier qui était de retour en piste. Lors de cette épreuve, les Américains Jean-Paul Cyr et Mark Lamberton se sont également assuré une place sur la grille de départ.

 

Lors de cette dernière course, Sylvain Lacombe qui en était à une première présence en 2011, a été victime d’un bris de différentiel. L’équipe de Larue Équipement de Déneigement est venue à sa rescousse afin qu’il puisse poursuivre sa soirée.

 

John Donahue s’est illustré lors de la troisième en ayant le meilleur devant Joey Polewarczyk et Jonathan Desbiens. Randy Potter et Jean-François Déry se sont également qualifiés. Finalement dans la dernière, Donald Theetge a eu raison de Brian Hoar, le multiple champion de la série américaine de l’ACT et Dave Michaud. Ce dernier a été suivi au fil par Steve Lesage et Glen Luce. Pour sa part, Jonathan Bouvrette a connu des problèmes alors que sa voiture a répandu beaucoup de liquide sur la piste. Il a été en mesure réparer le tout pour se qualifier lors de la deuxième consolation.

 

Lors des épreuves de consolation, la première est allée au jeune Alex Labbé qui a finalement retrouvé le sentier de la victoire. Ses victimes ont été Patrick Hamel, Marc-André Cliche, Dany Trépanier et Gaétan Lauzier. Dans cette course Stéphane Durand a lourdement endommagé son bolide et cela venait un terme à sa soirée. Puis sans la dernière Claude Leclerc a disposé de Brent Dragon, Steven Boissonneault, Martin Lacombe et Dave Farrington. Pour sa part, Dany Gagnon qui en était à une première participation, a effectué toute une embardée dans la ligne droite arrière. Heureusement, il n’a pas été blessé, mais n’a pas été en mesure de revenir alors Dave Farrington a remporté le « feature B ». Dans cette course, Brandon White a été disqualifié pour avoir bousculé un adversaire.

 

Un nouveau sommet pour cette Can-Am avec la présence de 16 pilotes américains.

 

C’est donc un gros week-end tant pour les pilotes de la série ACT-Castrol que pour la série américaine de l’ACT. Il est à espérer, cette fois, que le beau temps sera au rendez-vous.
