Defending ACT champion Brian Hoar of Williston, VT, Brent Dragon of Milton, VT and Mark Lamberton of Mooers Forks, NY - 1st, 2nd and 7th in the point standings – are former Airborne track champions. Hoar won the 1999 Spring Green, the same year he won the track title. When ACT last visited in September 2009, he finished second to Patrick Laperle in the Fall Foliage 300. Dragon won the event in 2004 to join his father Harmon “Beaver” Dragon and his uncle Bobby Dragon on the Spring Green winner’s list. Lamberton was crowned Airborne champion in 2001. Scott Payea of Milton, VT, the 2009 Spring Green winner and currently third in ACT points, began racing four-cylinder cars at Airborne. He was a top performer in the Sportsman division. Two-time Spring Green winner and six-time ACT champion Jean-Paul Cyr, off to a slow start in 2010, will try to turn things around on the Plattsburgh half-mile. Beaver Dragon won the inaugural event at Catamount Stadium in 1974. In 1990, Airborne hosted its first Spring Green. Canadian Claude Leclerc won the race. Adirondack Hardware and Vermont Life Systems are also sponsoring this weekend’s race card, which includes the DIRTcar Modifieds, Sportsmen, Renegades, Bombers and a non-points race for the Mini-Modifieds.
