Les essais de la veille (2 juin 2012) se sont déroulés sous la pluie battante, de telle sorte que les Officiels de la série ont pris la décision d’annuler la séance de qualifications de l’après-midi. Le positionnement sur la grille de départ a été effectué selon le classement final de l’année dernière. Vingt-neuf bolides ont pris le départ de cette course ponctuée de nombreux changements de positions chez les meneurs, pénalités et neutralisations.
La voiture avait été ajustée davantage pour la pluie que pour le sec, ce qui a nécessité une adaptation, notamment en début de course. « Le premier tour, nous avons apprivoisé la piste. Les autres pilotes poussaient forts et j’ai effectué graduellement une remontée, en fin de course, ça a brassé un peu mais on a réussi a bien s’en sortir et finir septième », explique le pilote québécois.
La première course de la saison 2012 est prometteuse pour Jean-François Dumoulin. « Je suis très content de l’équipe Dumoulin Compétition avec la voiture no 04 ACASS/Bellemare et tous nos supporteurs de Trois-Rivières nous avons très bien performés et c’est positif pour le Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières », mentionne avec enthousiasme Jean-François Dumoulin.

| The practice session (June 2nd, 2012) occurred during heavy rainfall, with such significance that the series’ officials decided to cancel the qualifying session that afternoon. The starting line-up was decided according to last years’ final official results. 29 cars left the starting grid causing several leader changes, penalties and neutralizations.
The car had been previously adjusted for rainy conditions instead or dry conditions, this required a necessary adaption at the beginning of the race. « We tamed the track in the first laps. The other drivers were pushing forwards but I was able to make a gradual climb, at the end of the race things got rough but we managed it and finished in seventh position », explains the Quebec racer.
The first race of the 2012 season was promising for Jean-Francois Dumoulin. « I am very happy of the Dumoulin Competition team, with no 04 ACASS/Bellemare car and all of our fans and supporters from Trois-Rivieres. We had a good performance and things are looking positive for the Grand Prix of Trois-Rivieres. », mentions Jean-Francois Dumoulin with enthusiasm.
