AUTODROME DRUMMOND - WOO LATE MODELS EN VILLE

Les puissants World of Outlaws late model en visite lundi soir et week-end déterminant pour la classe modifié.

Lundi soir prochain, 23 août Hyundai Drummond présente, la série World of Outlaws late-model qui en seront a leur 4e visite sur le tracé de l’autodrome Drummond! Il y aura également la reprise de la finale modifié du 5 juin en plus d’un programme complet chez les STR et dans la classe sportsman.

 

Cette série WOO late-model en sera a leur 4e  visite a l’autodrome Drummond, qui en passant est leur seule visite en sol québécois. L’an passé on avait du annuler le programme à cause de la pluie mais en 2007, Steve Francis l’avait emporté et en 2008 la victoire est revenue à Rick Eckert. Cette saison c’est nul autre que Josh Richards qui domine la série suivie du favori des gens ici a Drummondville, Tim McCredie. Les dirigeants de l’autodrome attendent plus de 25 voitures pour cette soirée qui fait parti du calendrier de la série World of Outlaws late model.

 

Samedi 21 août soirée Transport Fréchette.

 

Dans le cadre de cette soirée, les pilotes modifié auront toute une soirée avec trois finales de vingt-cinq tours, ou l’on inversera les positions dans chacune des trois courses. Le championnat étant extrêmement serré, personne ne voudra laisser un pouce a son compétiteur et ce autant dans la classe modifié qui auront quatre finales en moins de quarante-huit heures sur le tracé de Drummondville que dans la classe sportsman et pro-stock!

 

 C’est donc un rendez-vous samedi soir 21 juin pour la soirée Transport Fréchette avec un championnat modifié et lundi soir 23 août dès 18hrs pour la visite de la série World of Outlaws late model dans le cadre de la soirée Hyundai Drummond.

LAPERLE - ALBANY-SARATOGA

C’est officiel, le champion de la série ACT 2008 et de la série ACT Castrol 2007, Patrick Laperle a confirmé sa participation dans l’épreuve d’ouverture de l’ACT qui sera disputée ce weekend à la piste de Albany-Saratoga.

Its official, the 2008 ACT Champion and the 2007 ACT Castrol Champion, Patrick Laperle confirmed he will participate in the ACT opener race at Albany-Saratoga scheduled for this weekend.

Laperle qui avait claqué la porte à la suite des « pratiques de comptabilisation et de décisions douteuses » des officiels de l’ACT Castrol lors de la dernière course de 2009 à l’autodrome St-Eustache participera tout de même à une course organisée par ce groupe.

« C’est certain que nous n’avons pas oublié ce qui c’est passé. Mais nous avons deux voitures ACT (et une PRO Stock) dans le garage et si nous voulons continuer à compétitionner nous devrons inévitablement le faire avec eux tôt ou tard. Toutefois nous n’avons pas l’intention de participer à un championnat d’un côté ou de l’autre de la frontière » déclara Laperle.

La série ACT fait une première visite à la piste de Albany-Saratoga le 25 avril prochain. La piste de 4/10 de mile situé dans la ville de Malta, NY était jusqu’à l’an dernier sur la terre battue. Un retour au source en quelque sorte. Rappelons que le légendaire québécois Denis Giroux y compétitionnait régulièrement au début des années 70s. Giroux le québécois ayant connu le meilleur résultat à Daytona soit une 3e place dans le Permatex 300.

Outre Laperle, les frères Decoste seraient les seuls autres québécois en piste ce weekend.

Laperle who slamed the door on ACT competition after « serious scoring and officiating decisions” by ACT Castrol Officials at the conclusion of the 2009 championship at Autodrome St-Eustache despite this will compete in the race sanctionned by the group.

“We didn’t forget what happened that weekend. But we have two ACT cars (and one PRO Stock) in the garage and if we intend on continuing racing we will be racing with them at one point or another. Nevertheless we do not plan on championship racing on either side of the border” said Laperle.

The first ever ACT Tour event at Albany-Saratoga is scheduled for April 25th. The 4/10 mile track in Malta, NY was on dirt up until last year. A return to sources in some way. Lets recall that the legendary Quebec driver Denis Giroux was competing on a regular basis in the early 70s at the facility he called home away from home. Giroux the best ever finishing Quebec driver at Daytona having finished 3rd in the Permatex 300.

Other than Laperle the Decoste brothers are said to also compete in the event.

BELLEROSE AND LAQUERRE TEAM UP AGAIN

Waterbury, VT – It has been a decade since Tracie Bellerose from Gorham, NH made history at Thunder Road International Speedbowl (TR) in Barre, VT. She became the first woman to win a major championship at one of the nation’s most famous and toughest short tracks. In a surprise today, Bellerose announced that she would be returning to full time racing with the same crew chief and team that brought her to national prominence in 2000.

“When the opportunity came calling, this kid (Bellerose) knew exactly what she wanted and that was to go back to racing competitively. I tried golf, but the golf carts were too slow, I then bought a Harley, but wrecking that on the highway was way worse than a couple of memorable wrecks I had at Thunder Road. Quite frankly, I have not even been able to visit Thunder Road as a spectator - I have missed racing so much. Obviously, I am pretty excited,” said Bellerose.

There will be no rust on the team she is joining. The Laquerre Race Team located in Barre, VT, owned by Jeff Laquerre, won the 2009 50th Anniversary “King of the Road” title at Thunder Road with seven-time American Canadian Tour Champion Jean-Paul Cyr. Cyr has moved over to a full-time effort on the popular touring series, and that opened the door for Bellerose to return to the driver’s seat for the championship Laquerre team.

Thunder Road promoter, Tom Curley, said, “This is really special for the 2010 season at Thunder Road. Tracie was one of the most popular, respectful, and competitive racers we have ever had at the “Nation’s Site of Excitement”. The combination of Jeff Laquerre and Tracie, with the team they assembled in 2000 coming back together, will not only bring a high level of competition, but they will bring a great spirit to the track. That is what the ‘Road’ is all about.”

“Tracie also indicated that she wants to try and get to races like the TD Bank 250 at Oxford Plains in July, and obviously, she will bring a lot to the Thunder Road ACT special events. I was already anxious for the season to begin; now it gets even more exciting for our fans and competitors,” concluded Curley.

The Bellerose-Laquerre team will have plenty of competition in 2010 when she joins former fellow “Kings of the Road”, many of whom hoisted Tracie Bellerose above their shoulders in a victory lane celebration after she locked up the championship ten years ago. Laquerre helped bring two of the three titles Cris Michaud has won. Michaud will try to bring Ford the first title to Thunder Road since Dave Dion won it in 1977. Michaud will have a new crew chief, Troy Wheeler, who won the TR title in 2006 with his brother Chad at the wheel. Three-time Champion and the winningest Late Model driver of all time at Thunder Road, Phil Scott, will try to make it four titles. Former Thunder Road Champions Jamie Fisher, Dave Pembroke, Pete Fecteau, and Dave Whitcomb will welcome Bellerose back to the Thursday night battles.

Bellerose has five (5) feature wins at Thunder Road and three (3) ACT wins ---two (2) of them at Thunder Road. She last raced in a pair of ACT events in 2007. The team has secured sponsorship from long-time supporter, the Amoskeag Beverage Distributor of New Hampshire. Most fans will remember the Miller Lite beer brand on her race cars from past years. They will also receive support from a long-time Lancaster, NH supporter, Scorpio’s Sports Bar.

The team will begin their season when the American Canadian Tour opens the 51st season at Thunder Road with the 12th Annual Merchants Bank 150 on May 2, 2010. Over 50 of the best Late Model teams in the Northeast are expected to try to qualify for the event. This season former Thunder Road Champion, Tracie Bellerose will be one of them.

New Smyrna Speedway - World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing

Comme nous l’avons fait l’an dernier ma soeur Chantal et moi allons couvrir les courses qui se produisent à New Smyrna Speedway dans le cadre des World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing.

Like we did last year, my sister Chantal and I will report on the racing held at New Smyrna Speedway during the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car racing.

Quoi que notre priorité sera la prestation du seul pilote québécois en piste, Patrick Laperle, nous ajouterons à notre répertoire des entretiens avec Brandon Watson, Cole Powell et les autres canadiens sur place.

Série ACT-Castrol 2010: Retrait de la piste Capital City

 

(Waterbury, VT) – L’épreuve de la série ACT-Castrol qui était prévue pour la piste Capital City en banlieue d’Ottawa a été annulée et ne sera pas reportée au calendrier 2010.

 

«Au cours des derniers mois, des changements majeurs se sont produits au sein de la direction de Capital City et comme l’ancien promoteur avait inscrit cette course pour le 12 juin, nous l’avions incluse dans notre cédule au mois de novembre dernier. Cependant, les nouvelles personnes impliquées ont décidé de se retirer des séries dites touring et nous respectons cette décision », de mentionner Darla Hart, la vice-présidente et directrice de l’administration pour l’American Canadian Tour qui avait sanctionné des épreuves à cet endroit au cours des trois dernières saisons.

 

 

Cependant, il a été convenu que la division Late Model de ce circuit ontarien poursuivrait son association avec l’ACT en tant que piste affiliée et que les épreuves se dérouleraient selon les règlements établis.

 

« Nous sommes très heureux de cette décision d’utiliser les règlements que nous avons élaborés au cours des dernières années », de dire Tom Curley, le président de l’ACT. « Nous allons inclure les pilotes de Capital City dans tout le programme de l’ACT, incluant la course INVITATION à la piste New Hampshire Speedway, le 18 septembre prochain et nous anticipons un retour à Capital City pour 2011.»

 

On sait que le lever de rideau de la saison 2010 aura lieu à l’Autodrome St-Eustache, le samedi 22 mai prochain, la première de onze épreuves au calendrier.
