Karl Allard, le champion de la saison 2010 dans la série ACT-Castrol, a été le meilleur des pilotes québécois qui ont participé en fin de journée à la troisième édition de la course INVITATION au New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Cet événement annuel a été remporté pour une deuxième fois par Eddie MacDonald qui a eu le meilleur devant Nick Sweet et Shawn Martin.

 

Pour en revenir au pilote de la Ford Fusion /Larue Équipement de déneigement, mentionnons que lors du tirage au sort, il avait hérité de la 28e place sur la grille de départ faisant ainsi partie d’un peloton sélect qui regroupait également le vainqueur de cette épreuve, de Nick Sweet, Brad Leighton et Brian Hoar. Il a bataillé avec eux pour gagner des positions et c’est en neuvième qu’il a franchi la ligne d’arrivée.

 

Encore moins chanceux qu’Allard lors de la pige, Patrick Laperle, le nouveau champion de la série ACT-Castrol, a lui aussi effectué une très belle remontée pour terminer en 13e position alors que pour sa part, Dave Michaud de Ste-Anne-des-Plaines a joué de malchance. Parti de la 21e place, il était en pleine remontée lorsqu’au 38e passage, il a été victime d’une crevaison dans le deuxième virage. Ayant à retourner à son puits sur sa crevaison, il a endommagé sa suspension et a du se déclarer forfait.

 

Donald Theetge a terminé 18e, Jean-François Déry 19e et Dany Trépanier 27e.

Canadian Tire Driver Scott Steckly Reigns Supreme as NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Champion

FRASERVILLE, ON (September 24, 2011) – Tonight at Kawartha Speedway, Scott Steckly raced his Canadian Tire Dodge to a second-place finish in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series season finale. With the finish, Steckly secured the points championship for the second time in four seasons. As he was presented with the Champion’s trophy, the popular racer and his team were cheered by a full house at the Peterborough-area oval.

 

“The Canadian Tire Dodge performed very well tonight; we didn’t have any big adventures,” said Scott, who came home behind 2010 Canadian Tire Series champ DJ Kennington. “We raced hard but by the end we were pretty sure we had it clinched and we were going for the race win. It feels really good to earn the championship again. People don’t realize how hard it is to win one of these things; a lot of things have to go right in a lot of races to get to here.”

 

Steckly was eager to recognize the support of his family, sponsors and friends, who contributed to him winning the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series - the biggest prize in Canadian stock car racing.

 

“I can’t give enough thanks to Canadian Tire for sponsoring our team and supporting the series as well as companies like Exide and Castrol. Also, AW Millwrights and ERB Transport who have sponsored me for 18 years. And my family and crew are the best, making sacrifices and supporting my racing.”

 

Steckly lined up fourth in the field of 26 racers who took part in the series’ 12th and final event of 2011. During time trials, the Milverton, Ontario racer lapped the high-banked 3/8-mile oval in 17.839 seconds (75.677 mph). The driver of the Canadian Tire Dodge was careful to protect his car in the early going, but quickly moved forward. Steckly was out front by lap 100 but pitted prior to the halfway point of the 250-lap race, for fuel and tires.

 

With 100 laps to go, Scott was back in the top five. With 40 laps remaining in the race, the Canadian Tire-sponsored racer was up to second, behind Kennington, the only other driver in the field with a mathematic chance of denying Scott his second championship. The two would come across the line in that order, with J.R. Fitzpatrick claiming the third and final podium spot at Kawartha.

 

During the championship presentation, Steckly and the Canadian Tire team were joined in the victory lane by Allan MacDonald, Senior Vice-President of Automotive for Canadian Tire. “On behalf of Canadian Tire I’d like to congratulate Scott and his team on a phenomenal performance in this race and for a truly outstanding season. Scott is a great asset to the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series and to the sport of racing in Canada. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to end the 2011 race season.”

 

The race for the 2011 championship kicked-off at Mosport Speedway on May 28. Steckly set the tone for his championship season by qualifying second-fastest and winning his first of three races during the season. Much like his 2008 championship season, where he won four races, Steckly was off to a fast start and was able to maintain the points lead starting with the first race of the season. Qualifying and finishing in the top five for the first six events set the bar high for his competitors in the series. Steckly would go on to record three Keystone Light Pole Awards, three wins, nine top-fives and 10 top-10s during the season.

Lt. Governor Phil Scott Draws Pole in Third Annual ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway

Loudon, NH – Vermont Lieutenant Governor Phil Scott of Middlesex, VT drew the pole for the third annual ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, NH. Scott and his Vermont Strong Chevrolet will roll off with White Mountain Motorsports Park Champion Quinny Welch of Lancaster, NH on the outside pole, when the 50 mile event goes green at 5:35pm on Saturday, September 24.

 

The 43 car field was set by a blind draw for their starting positions. Eight-time ACT Tour Champion Brian Hoar of Williston, VT won the ACT All-Star Challenge at NHMS in August and will have to come from the 26th starting position to complete the NHMS season sweep. He will start behind Inaugural ACT Invitational Champion Eddie MacDonald of Rowley, MA in 25th and teenager Austin Theriault from Fort Kent, ME in 24th. Theriault finished second in the All-Star Challenge earlier this season.

Former Thunder Road Late Model Champion Nick Sweet of Barre, VT will start 27th. Série ACT Castrol Champions Karl Allard and Patrick Laperle will start 28th and 33rd respectively. Past NHMS track champion Brad Leighton of Center Harbor, NH will roll off 31st. Last year’s ACT Invitational Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. of Hudson, NH will take the green from the 32nd starting position.

The Third Annual ACT Invitational field is now set. Teams will complete pre-race inspection this afternoon before their 50 mile event kicks off at 5:35pm. NHMS is also hosting the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour today at 12:45pm and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at 3:00pm. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is also practicing throughout the day.

Eddie MacDonald Wins Thrilling ACT Invitational at NHMS

Loudon, NH – Eddie MacDonald of Rowley, Massachusetts claimed his second American Canadian Tour Invitational after a thrilling battle with Barre, Vermont’s Nick Sweet at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, NH on Saturday, September 24. MacDonald and Sweet swapped the lead four times over the final 15 laps of the 50 mile event on the “Magic Mile.” The race wasn’t decided until the final corner, when MacDonald edge Sweet coming off turn four to take the checker and the $4,000 pay day.

 

MacDonald seemed to have a slightly better car on the restarts, but Sweet came back strong after a couple of laps. MacDonald came from the 25th starting position to take the lead on lap 32. Sweet came from the 27th starting spot and cleared traffic on lap 35. The 2010 Thunder Road Champion set his sights on MacDonald with just 15 laps to go. It took him just five laps to run down the Inaugural ACT Invitational Champion and take the lead on lap 40, before the second caution of the event on lap 41.

MacDonald took the lead back after the caution, but held on for just two laps before Sweet took over again. Sweet would lead until the final caution on lap 45. One lap after the restart MacDonald took over for good, but not without a fight from Sweet. The two took the white flag side-by-side as the crowd rose to their feet. Sweet had the inside line and seemed to have the advantage down the back stretch. The two stayed door-to-door through turns three and four, but Sweet got loose coming out of four giving MacDonald the edge.

“We were lucky at the end. I was so psyched to get my new sponsor, Hancock Electric, in victory lane,” said MacDonald. “I didn’t know it was Nick (Sweet) in that car. I feel bad cutting him off, but wanted to do everything I could to win.”

“Great race at the end,” said Sweet. “Everything happens to me in twos (at NHMS). Three years ago we finished second to Eddie (MacDonald). Last year we wrecked on lap two. This year we finished second to Eddie (MacDonald) again.” 

Former Oxford Plains Speedway Champion Shawn Martin of Turner, Maine led early and held off two-time White Mountain Motorsports Park Champion Quinny Welch of Lancaster, New Hampshire in the late stages of the event to take third. Brad Leighton, a former NHMS track champion from Center Harbor, New Hampshire edged out eight-time ACT Champion Brian Hoar of Williston, VT at the line to complete the top five.

“Today I felt like I was on top of the world,” said Martin. “That was probably the race of my life.”

Hoar, last year’s Invitational winner Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. of Hudson, New Hampshire, Tom Carey, Jr. of New Salem, Massachusetts, former Série ACT Castrol Champion Karl Allard of St-Felicien, Quebec and Glen Luce of Turner, Maine completed the top ten.

The 50 mile, third annual ACT Invitational was completed in 45 minutes and 36 seconds with three cautions including the first on lap 27 for debris. The lead was swapped six times between four drivers. MacDonald edged Sweet by just 0.161 seconds.

Many of the 43 car field will head to Barre, Vermont’s Thunder Road next weekend for the 49th annual People’s United Bank Milk Bowl. Booth Bros./H.P. Hood qualifying will be Saturday, October 1 with the Milk Bowl on Sunday, October 2.

The ACT season will come to a close the following weekend with the Rent-A-Wreck Fall Foliage 200 at Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh, New York on Saturday, October 8.

Champion 2011 - PROCAM / Super Truck

Ce samedi passé avait lieu à l’autodrome Montmagny le dernier programme de la saison 2011 du Challenge Procam Super Truck propulsé par le NAPA pièces d’auto 200 présenté par Dodge. 

Les 17 camions qui étaient en piste ont décidé d’en mettre plein la vue aux gens de Montmagny.

 

Danny Lemay et Martin Goulet Jr. ont remporté les deux finales alors que Jean Duchesneau a terminé premier au combiné. 

Sylvain Lemieux a quand à lui assuré son titre en se tenant loin des problèmes. Christian Provost termine deuxième tandis que Fernand McClean et Jean Duchesneau se partage la troisième place. 

Au chapitre des recrues, Christian Provost s’empare du titre suivi par Yves Langlois.

Ce programme a eu lieu grâce à M. André Poulin et son équipe de la Série Sportsman Québec, Mario Morissette de Coffrage 20-20 ainsi que DGR. Tous les pilotes vous remercient.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series closes out the 2011 race season with the Kawartha 250 at Kawartha Speedway in Fraserville, Ont. The race is scheduled to take the green flag on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 5 p.m. ET. Below is a statistical look at the recent performance of selected drivers at Kawartha, as well as some statistical trends:

 

NASCAR Canadian Tire Series At Kawartha Speedway
• This is the series’ fifth visit to the track that is a .375-mile progressive-banked track in Fraserville, Ont.
• The Kawartha 250 will premiere on TSN at 12:30 p.m. ET on Sat. Oct. 15 with a special 90-minute show.
• Each of the four previous winners at Kawartha has driven a Dodge.
• For three of the four previous winners –Scott Steckly, Jason Hathaway and Pete Shepherd III – the Kawartha victory was the first of their series career.
• Both the 2008 and 2009 events at Kawartha Speedway were cut short due to rain.
• There has been an average of 7.75 caution periods for an average of 61 laps in the four prior races at Kawartha, with the earliest coming on Lap 2 in 2009 and the latest at Lap 247 in 2007.
• The lead has changed hands an average of 10.25 times in Kawartha races with a high of 14 in the 2009 event.
• The average starting position of the winner is 7.25, while the polesitter has an average finish of 6.25.

ACT Invitational Field of Champions

Loudon, NH – Nearly half of the 43 drivers in the third annual ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday, September 24 has a Late Model Championship to their name. Twenty competitors ready to tackle the “Magic Mile” this Saturday have scored a Late Model championship in a series or track in the Northeast or Eastern Canada.

Seven of those drivers have claimed a title in the 2011 season including eight-time ACT Tour Champion Brian Hoar and two-time Série ACT Castrol Champion Patrick Laperle. Both drivers have clinched their respective titles with on event remaining, the Rent-A-Wreck Fall Foliage 200 at Airborne Speedway on Saturday, October 8.

 

Other 2011 champions include Guy Caron (Twin State Speedway), Aaron Fellows (Canaan Fair Speedway), Jeff White (Oxford Plains Speedway), Dan McHattie (Kawartha Speedway) and Quinny Welch (White Mountain Motorsports Park).

Former ACT champions include Lt. Governor Phil Scott, Jean-Paul Cyr, and Brad Leighton (Pro Stock Tour). Karl Allard and Donald Theetge are both past Série ACT Castrol title holders. Previous track champions from around the Northeast include Ryan Vanasse (Seekonk Speedway), Mark Lamberton (Airborne Speedway), Jamie Fisher (Thunder Road), Wayne Helliwell, Jr. (Lee USA Speedway), Nick Sweet (Thunder Road), Ricky Rolfe (Oxford Plains Speedway), Brent Dragon (Airborne Speedway) and Shawn Martin (Oxford Plains Speedway).

The impressive 43 car field will be ready to roll at 5:30pm on Saturday, September 24 at NHMS for the third annual ACT Invitational 50 miles. Eddie MacDonald and Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. will each be looking for their second career ACT Invitational wins, while the remainder of the field will attempt to make it three different winners in three events.

RPM Speedway...ce samedi 24 septembre..Super Championnat fin de saison !

         

          Ce samedi, les nombreux amateurs de courses sur terre battue fidèles au RPM Speedway verront un spectacle haut en couleurs et digne des meilleures prestations au Québec pour cette journée spéciale comportant des Championnats fin de saison 2011 pour les classes où le Grand Champion et la Recrue de l’année ne sont pas encore connus.

          Pas moins de 7 classes différentes au programme dont les incontournables Modifiés 358 ainsi que les ultra rapides Lightning Sprints. Vous pourrez aussi voir en piste les Semi-Pro, les Pro-Stock, les Sportsman, les Sling Shot ainsi que les Mini Modifiés. Les périodes de réchauffement débutent très tôt soit sur le coup de 13H30 tandis que les qualifications sont à l’horaire pour 14H00 pour cette « Journée spéciale fin de saison ». Les finales pour leur part débuteront à 18H30 mettant en vedette des pilotes bien de chez-nous.

 

LES MODIFIÉS

          La classe Modifiée nous a donné plusieurs bons spectacles cette saison et encore une fois, les amateurs pourront les voir dans 2 confrontations de 40 tours avec chacun leur podium. Cette nouvelle façon de faire, mise en place par Jasmin Péloquin a su plaire aux amateurs ainsi qu’aux pilotes. Assistez au tout dernier programme de courses sur terre battue au Québec mettant en vedette les Modifiés ce samedi 24 septembre.

 

LES LIGHTNING SPRINTS

          Ils ont choisi le RPM Speedway pour clore dignement leur saison officielle et ce samedi, nous connaîtrons le grand Champion 2011; une lutte très serrée impliquera trois pilotes de renom pour l’obtention de ce titre soient Simon Couture  34 qui détient présentement la première place suivi de très près par un ancien champion Éric Sundborg # 16 et Mathieu Bourgouin # 21 qui offre des performances toujours électrisantes.

Place au Champion 2011 ce samedi !

          Yan Bilodeau # 123 semble filer vers le titre de Recrue de l’année mais attention, lui aussi est suivi par un compétiteur qui n’abandonne jamais et qui pourrait lui ravir ce titre tant convoité en la personne de Mario Moreau # 55.

LES  PRO-STOCK

          Ils en seront à leurs premiers tours de piste ce samedi; cette première pour les Pro-Stock sera certainement quelque chose à voir! Plusieurs pilotes nous avaient demandé pouvoir faire parti du spectacle sur ce tracé fort spectaculaire et nul doute que les amateurs assisteront à des performances de haut niveau par ces pilotes très bien connus et qui se produisent sur différents circuits DIRT.

 

LES  SPORTSMAN

          Ils sont aimés des amateurs; la forme de leurs bolides est celle des Mods avec quelques changements mineurs mais c’est au point de vue moteurs qu’ils diffèrent avec leur Spec qui offre des performances très respectables. À toutes les occasions ils ont fourni des finales intéressantes et c’est ce que vous serez témoin ce samedi.

 

LES  SEMI PRO

          Ils sont des passionnés et les finales présentées jusqu’à maintenant offraient des duels très enlevants. Pour ce dernier spectacle, ils fourniront tous les efforts et seront encore une fois tout sourire sur le podium.

 

LES MINI MODIFIÉS

          Cette classe a subi plusieurs changements depuis la dernière saison allant du bureau de direction jusqu’aux performances en piste. D’autres noms réguliers se sont greffés à la liste des meilleurs pilotes Mini-Modifiés laissant derrière eux les traditionnels podiums par les mêmes vainqueurs. Plusieurs se sont démarqués et les amateurs applaudissent leurs performances. Samedi ne fera pas exception à la règle et vous verrez ces pilotes donner leur maximum.

 

LES  SLING SHOT

          Ils sont au volant de bolides performants et ils aiment tous se produire sur le «grand circuit» du RPM Speedway où les amateurs dans les estrades sont près de l’action et où ils peuvent démontrer leur savoir faire devant une foule attentive à leurs performances. Carl Labonté est à la tête des Sling Shot et connaît le succès.

PASS lights up the night at White Mountain Saturday

NAPLES ME (9/21) The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North super late model and sportsman teams return to North Woodstock NH's White Mountain Motorsports Park for their final race under the lights for 2011 and there's some records on the line and a tight point race that will heat up Saturday's evenings' action.

 

The point race belongs to the PASS Sportsman series. Prior to last Sunday's 100 lapper at Beech Ridge Shane Tatro had a solid lead in that popular division. But, a 24th place finish by Tatro combined with up front runs by Dan McKeage and Carey Martin has turned the standings upside down. Heading to White Mountain there’s just six markers separating the top five, and 2009 series champion Carey Martin is on top of the heap at 172, McKeage is just two back and Tatro is now tied with Craig Smith at 170. Donnie Morse is right with them at 167.Tatro won last time out at WMMP, with McKeage and Morse hot on his heels. With two races left on the PASS Sportsman schedule you can expect a battle royal for the title and it all begins at White Mountain.

 

On the Super Late Model side Johnny Clark is in command. He's looking to snatch the record for single season wins away from Ben Rowe. Rowe's record stands at eight and Clark has to win at White Mountain to tie then repeat the feat at the season finale at Oxford Plains Speedway to claim the record. Clark has had a dream season in 2011 with seven wins, ten top five and top ten finishes in every event. That's a tough act to follow and although Clark won last time out at the North Woodstock quarter mile, it took a late race caution to draw Clark to the outside pole where he out powered DJ Shaw on the subsequent restart. Brian Kruczek joined Shaw and Clark on the White Mountain podium two weeks ago and the aggressive racer from Newmarket NH wont be happy with anything but a win this time out.

 

The PASS National Championship trail comes to White Mountain for the first time and that title has come down to a two driver battle with Ben Rowe atop the standings and PASS South point leader Jay Fogleman playing catch up. It will be a new track for The Durham NC racer and an old favorite for Rowe, but expect the pair to battle tooth and nail as the PASS National Series winds down. That championship will be determined in Rougemont North Carolina on November 26 when the PASS South and National series travel to Orange County Speedway for the Thanksgiving Classic/Mason-Dixon Meltdown.

 

White Mountain's weekly racers have their own titles on the line on Saturday; it's Championship night for the Tigers, Mini's Strictly s and Kids Trucks.

Samedi, le premier octobre à l’Autodrome St-Valère.com

JOURNÉE SANS LENDEMAIN POUR PLUSIEURS PILOTES

 

Un date à retenir, samedi le premier octobre pour les amateurs de terre battue. En effet, cette journée très spectaculaire sera sans lendemain pour plusieurs pilotes réguliers de l'Autodrome St-Valère.com, car il s'agira de la dernière confrontation de la saison 2011. Dans la majorité des cas, les meneurs dans leur catégorie respective se doivent de l'emporter s'ils veulent coiffer la couronne alors que quelques autres, jouissent d'une avance assez confortable.

 

N'ayant pu faire mieux qu'une troisième position lors de la dernière finale, Carl Poudrier de St-Christophe a tout de même réussi à conserver le premier rang au classement en Super 4. Cependant, son avance est plus que précaire, car il n'a que deux points d'avance devant Alexandre Marcoux de Victoriaville. Poudrier cumule trois gains contre un pour Marcoux depuis le début du calendrier. Faisant suite à sa victoire, Marcoux aimerait en ajouter une deuxième d'affilée et déloger Poudrier pour s'assurer le titre.

 

La situation de Vincent Hamel de Victoriaville en 6 Cylindres n'est guère mieux. Avec un dossier de trois victoires, il détient le haut du pavé avec 173 points, soit seulement six de plus que Benoît Lainesse de Kingsey Falls. En dépit de cette mince marge de manœuvre, Hamel devrait mériter la couronne tandis qu'en 8 Cylindres, Samuel Hébert de St-Samuel devrait être en mesure pour retenir son championnat pour une deuxième saison consécutive. Tout ce qu'il a  à faire, c'est de terminer devant Bertrand Hébert de St-Valère tant lors de la qualification que de la finale.

 

Chez les camionnettes (pick-up), Jean-François Morin de St-Albert, deuxième l'an dernier, ne devrait pas avoir de difficulté à prendre sa revanche sur Stéphane Létourneau de Victoriaville, le champion défendant. Il a 53 points d'avance sur Mathieu Labonté et ce dernier, malgré toute sa bonne volonté, ne sera pas en mesure de le rejoindre.

 

En Pro Stock, c'est également très corsé entre Marco Lainesse de Boucherville et Yves Hamel de St-Antoine-de-Tilly, seulement six petits ces derniers  et Hamel est considéré comme étant le favori. Il cumule trois succès comparativement à un pour Lainesse. Il en est ainsi en Sportsman alors que Tommy Therrien de St-Christophe et David Héon de St-Albert se livrent un intéressant duel. Therrien a six points de priorité et l'on devrait assister à une lutte à finir entre ces deux pilotes pour la couronne.

 

2e titre

Francis Labonté de St-Christophe est en excellente posture pour retenir son titre pour une deuxième année consécutive, car son concitoyen, Michaël Lavertu qui occupe le deuxième rang, lui concède une avance de 32 points à la veille de ce dernier programme de la saison.

 

Et les dames

Chez les dames, Catherine Boisvert de St-Christophe qui avait terminé au quatrième rang dans le championnat en 2010, est à l'approche d'atteindre son objectif, soit le titre en 4 Cylindres. Elle a 25 points de plus que Marilou Hébert de St-Valère et lorsque l'on regarde son dossier, elle a trois visites dans le cercle des vainqueurs comparativement à aucune pour Hébert. Championne en 4 Cylindres en 2010, Marilou Hébert domine présentement en 6 & 8 Cylindres et il est pratiquement impossible pour France Levasseur de St-Valère de la déloger. L'écart entre est deux est déjà de 36 points.

 

Comme on peut le constater, les amateurs devraient en avoir plein la vue et assister à des finales plus que mémorables. L'admission est de 15 $ pour les adultes, de 10 $ pour les étudiants de 12 a 17 ans alors que le tout est gratuit pour les enfants de 11 ans et moins. Lors du ANCA 300 le 25 septembre - Conclusion de QUATRE championnats ANCA à l'ASE

Le programme de courses qui se tiendra le dimanche 25 septembre mettra un terme à la saison ANCA de stock-car pour la saison 2011 avec la présentation de quatre finales de 75 tours qui confirmeront les champions des divisions Sport-Compactes, Légendes modifiées, Production et Challenge 4. Noter que les activités de l’Autodrome St-Eustache se poursuivront par la suite puisqu’il y aura présentation de trois autres événements, soit les deux courses d’Endurance de 200 et 250 tours et le Smashfest les 2, 9 et 16 octobre pprochain

 

Au niveau des championnats, comme on le sait, Maxime Pelletier a été couronné champion de la division Sportsman, il y a deux semaines.

 

En Sport-Compactes Lucas Oil, Marc-Antoine Demers (422) de LLe Gardeur qui, grâce à sa victoire du dernier programme, a pris la tête du classement, six points devant Steve Ladouceur (31) de Mirabel, devra faire diligence et éviter toutes les erreurs pour se maintenir en tête, s’il veut savourer un premier championnat de saison à l’Autodrome St-Eustache.

Stéphane Aubin (26) de Boisbriand respire un peu mieux faisant suite à la mésaventure lors du dernier programme de Sylvain Denis (71) de St-Léonard-de-Portneuf qui, lui, devra se méfier de Stéphane Caron (99) de Laval qui aspire au deuxième rang au classement détenu avec une mince avance de deux points.

Championnat quasi assuré pour Patrick Leporé (12) de Mirabel qui détient une forte avance devant Steve Ladouceur (29) de Ste-Agathe dans la division Production. Pour Leporé, ce serait un deuxième championnat consécutif.

Dans la catégorie de développement Challenge 4, Yannick Miron (90) de Ste-Marthe-sur-le-Lac qui a pris la tête du classement lors du dernier programme, tentera de contenir les ardeurs de Louis-Alexandre Dupuis (95) de Laval, qui aimerait reprendre la première position pperduesuite à ses déboires du dernier programme.

La table est donc mise pour un dernier programme des plus enlevants pour ces quatre catégories de l’ANCA.

Pour l’occasion, les puits ouvriront à 10 h 30, tandis que le signal du premier départ sera donné à midi et trente. Les amateurs qui prendront place dans l’estrade populaire bénéficieront d’un rabais de 5$  puisque le prix d’entrée de l’admission générale a été réduit à 15$  pour l’occasion.

ARCA Racing Series to Debut at Mobile International Speedway in 2012

 (MOBILE, Ala.) - The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards will make its inaugural appearance at Mobile International Speedway in 2012, officials from ARCA and the track announced today.

 

The ARCA Mobile 200 will see the national championship stock car tour contest a 200-lap race on the half-mile, semi-banked paved oval on Saturday, March 10. Since the series' inception in 1953, the series has raced at over 200 different tracks but this will be the first at Mobile International Speedway.

 

"The 2012 season is ARCA's 60th, and Mobile will be the first short track on the schedule following the season opener at Daytona in February," said ARCA president Ron Drager. "ARCA Racing Series short track racing has proven to be highly competitive and entertaining regardless of the venue, and we look forward to bringing our superspeedway-style full-size stock car racing with live pit stops to Mobile in a long distance event."

 

Although the event marks ARCA's first appearance at Mobile, ARCA Racing Series history in Alabama reaches back to 1961 when, on November 5, Ernie Derr won a 250-lap race at Birmingham. ARCA race events at the Fairgrounds in Montgomery in 1962, at Huntsville Speedway in 1963 and 1965, and a long tenure at Talladega Superspeedway (1969-present) have kept ARCA's presence in Alabama alive over the decades.

 

"Having the ARCA Racing Series come to Mobile International Speedway is a real honor for me and our track," said Rick Crawford, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series veteran and the speedway's manager and promoter. "In the Truck Series we spent many weekends around the country sharing track facilities with the ARCA Racing Series and these guys put on a heck of a show. I can't wait to see them on my home track. The effort to bring the ARCA Racing Series to Mobile is a team effort, and wouldn't be possible without the Mobile Convention and Visitors Bureau, Mobile Sports Authority, and our elected officials."

 

Opened in 1964, Mobile International Speedway is Alabama's fastest half mile and is currently host to the Sunoco Gulf Coast Championship Series and Miller Lite Late Model Series, along with a regular schedule of Saturday night racing. Lee and Ida Fields purchased the track in 1972 and for almost 40 years the duo produced "The Fastest Fun Around." In 2011, the track embarked on a new era of track management when Mobile native, multi-time track champion, and all-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts leader Rick Crawford returned to Mobile to become the track's manager and promoter.

 

Mobile International Speedway has a long history with numerous racing legends, having attracted Alabama Gang racers Bobby Allison, Donnie Allison, and Red Farmer. Notably, Farmer won his 500th feature race at the track. More recently, ARCA Racing Series and NASCAR contenders like Grant Enfinger and Cale Gale have cut their teeth on the half-mile oval in various forms of racing.

 

The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards has crowned an ARCA national champion each year since its inaugural season in 1953, and has toured over 200 race tracks in 28 states since its inception. The series tests the abilities of drivers and race teams over the most diverse schedule of stock car racing events in the world, annually visiting tracks ranging from 0.4 mile to 2.66 miles in length, on both paved and dirt surfaces as well as a left- and right-turn road course.

 

Founded by John Marcum in 1953 in Toledo, Ohio, the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) is recognized among the leading sanctioning bodies in the country. Closing in on completing its sixth decade after hundreds of thousands of miles of racing, ARCA administers over 100 race events each season in two professional touring series and local weekly events.
