GRAND PRIX ÉLECTRIQUE DE PAU - COURSE 1 - Marc-Antoine Camirand se qualifie en cinquième place

Le pilote Québécois Marc-Antoine Camirand,partira de l'intérieur de la troisième rangée pour la première course du Grand Prix Électrique de Pau disputé ce week-end dans les rues de la ville française.

Camirand, qui dispute sa première course européenne au volant d'une voiture fournie par le Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, a signé un tour en 1:40,806, à 1,323 secondes de la position de tête réussie par Mike Parisy, vainqueur de l'épreuve l'an dernier à Pau.

Marc-Antoine Camirand, Andros Car/GP3R: «Je suis de plus en plus confortable avec la voiture et sur le circuit. J'étais sur un tour rapide quand Christophe Ferrier (qualifié 4e) est sorti de piste ce qui a provoqué un drapeau jaune. Sans ¸a, je suis certain que j'aurais pu me hisser dans les deux premiers rangs. Là, j'ai hâte à la course car c'est là que je suis le plus confortable. Je sais que je peux me battre avec les meilleurs. »

Outre Ferrier et Parisy, Adrien Tambay et Soheil Ayari (lui aussi sorti de piste après son tour rapide) partiront devant Camirand.

Coming Up in the ARCA Racing Series: Toledo

(TOLEDO, Ohio) - Born in Toledo in 1953, the Automobile Racing Club of America and its premier national tour will celebrate a historical 60th season with one home race this year, as Toledo Speedway will host the Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care next Sunday, May 20.

The series last raced at the 2.66-mile Talladega Superspeedway six days ago, and the contrast between major, national superspeedway and local short track truly showcases the wide range of ARCA's reach over the past six decades. SPEED will air the race for a national television audience, placing Toledo motorsports in the spotlight on a weekend afternoon.

The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards - ARCA's flagship series for developmental drivers and veterans alike - will hold practice and qualifying on Saturday, May 19, with the race set for Sunday afternoon.

The basic facts and figures surrounding the race are as follows:

What: Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care, the fifth race of 20 on the 2012 ARCA Racing Series schedule

When: 2 p.m., Sunday, May 20

Where: Toledo Speedway

Distance: 200 laps, or 100 miles

Last year's winner: Ty Dillon in May, Chris Buescher in October.

Dillon's spring win was a catalyst for his series championship run, one of seven victories in 2011.

Buescher's win in the season finale - and the 70th ARCA Racing Series event at Toledo - was his third of 2011 and his third in the last four ARCA Racing Series events at the track; he drove to victory when Dillon spun race leader Brennan Poole. Though Dillon has moved on to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, Buescher and Poole will enter as top contenders for the May 20 race.

Last year's pole winner: Tom Hessert, 16.08 seconds (111.94 mph).

ARCA qualifying record at track: Justin Lofton, 15.86 seconds (113.493 mph) - 2008.

Teams to test: Several race teams plan to test at Toledo Speedway before the Menards 200. Win-Tron Racing and Bobby Gerhart Racing are scheduled to test Saturday, and Roulo Brothers Racing and Andy Belmont Racing are scheduled to test Monday.

Over 25 drivers and cars are currently entered and more are expected. Alex Bowman, a short track winner this season at Salem (Ind.) Speedway is entered, as is nine-time Toledo winner and ARCA champion Frank Kimmel.

Fifteen-year-old Erik Jones, a Michigan driver, will make his final ARCA start before turning 16. Ohio drivers expected to compete include Jared Marks (Napoleon), Chad Hackenbracht (New Philadelphia), Tim Cowen (Perrysville), Tommy O'Leary (Cygnet), and Levi Youster (Toledo).

The entry list, as it stands today, is available on ARCARacing.com and is being updated as necessary until the event.

Schedule of accompanying on-track events: Practice: 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 1-1:45 p.m., Saturday, May 19; Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell: 3:30 p.m., Saturday, May 19.

The ARCA Truck Series will also race, with practice opening at 11:15 a.m. Saturday and a race at 5.

ARCA will honor numerous champions, race winners, and key figures from 60 years of competition in a special ceremony before Sunday's race.

The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards has crowned an ARCA national champion each year since its inaugural season in 1953, and has toured over 200 race tracks in 28 states since its inception. The series has tested the abilities of drivers and race teams over the most diverse schedule of stock car racing events in the world, visiting tracks ranging from 0.4 mile to 2.66 miles in length, on both paved and dirt surfaces as well as a left- and right-turn road course in its most recent season. This year, the series visited Alabama's Mobile International Speedway for the first time. In June, the first event at Minnesota's Elko Speedway will give ARCA a race in a 29th state.

Founded by John and Mildred Marcum in 1953 in Toledo, Ohio, the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) is recognized among the leading sanctioning bodies in the country. Hoar's Epic ACT Reign Hits Speed Bump

Waterbury, VT – On Sunday, May 6 Brian Hoar of Williston, VT relinquished the American Canadian Tour point lead to Dover, NH’s Wayne Helliwell, Jr. Helliwell dominated the second half of the Spring 112 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on his way to his first ever ACT victory, while Hoar struggled early and came home 11th. The finish seemed uncharacteristic of Hoar, known for his eight American Canadian Tour Championships and “ice cold” driving style, but uncharacteristic hardly describes the historic run that was shattered on Sunday.

Hoar’s 11th place finish marked just the third time he has finished outside the top ten in a point-counting event in his last 35 ACT starts. More impressive than that was the streak in which Hoar sat atop the points list.

Helliwell’s win ended a jaw-dropping 973-day stretch during which Hoar had led the points on the American Canadian Tour. Hoar took over the point lead after the Labor Day Classic at Thunder Road on September 6, 2009, and went on to win his sixth championship. In 2010, Nick Sweet won the season opener, but Brian Hoar outgained him in the standings through bonus points. He then led through every event of the season in 2010, as well as in 2011, after claiming the win at the season opener at Lee USA Speedway. He started off 2012 with two more wins to continue the streak, but it all came to a screeching halt on Sunday at the hands of Helliwell.

The previous point lead record had been set by seven-time ACT Champion Jean Paul Cyr who, during a stretch of four championships in a row, set the record of 637 days between July 30^th, 2005 and April 28^th, 2007. Hoar trumped that record by nearly a year.

Hoar has set the bar on the American Canadian Tour for most of his career. He sits atop the all-time win list with 35 wins, 16 more than any other driver, but the last three seasons may have been the most impressive. In his points lead reign, he claimed 10 feature victories and 25 top five finishes in 29 starts. Hoar’s historic point lead run, though snapped, will remain in the American Canadian Tour history books forever.

The battle for the American Tour Championship, however, is far from over. Helliwell now has the task of protecting his 30-point lead from eager former champs Hoar and Cyr, but also from rising young stars Joey Polewarczyk, Jr., and Austin Theriault as they head to Oxford Plains Speedway for the Oxford 150 on Sunday, May 20. Connecticut driver will race opening Late Model championship event Sunday

WEST HAVEN, VT – Former NASCAR National Champion Keith Rocco will trek north to Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Sunday, May 13 for the Mother’s Day Special event. The Wallingford, CT superstar will compete in the championship-opening race for the J&S Steel Late Model division.

Rocco was the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series National Champion in 2010 and has ranked fourth or better for each of the last five years. The Devil’s Bowl feature event will be the fourth race of his busy weekend; Rocco will run an open-wheel SK Modified and a full-fender Late Model on Friday night at Stafford Motor Speedway in his native Connecticut, heads to Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, NH on Saturday for a 200-lap NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event, and rides north for his first-ever race in Vermont on Sunday.

“We’re coming to race, to have fun, and hopefully to win,” Rocco declared. “If you’re not trying to win, you shouldn’t be out there, right?”

The 27 year-old, who is an engine builder by trade, already has six victories this season including one Late Model win at Stafford and another at Waterford (CT) Speedbowl in the same No. 1 Fearn Electric/ Clarence Realty-sponsored Toyota that he will drive at Devil’s Bowl. He reports that he has already received setup advice from last weekend’s American-Canadian Tour Spring Green winner Wayne Helliwell.

“All I really know about Devil’s Bowl is that it used to be a dirt track and now it’s paved,” Rocco admitted. “I’ve been told that it’s similar to Stafford, maybe a bit flatter. I’ve gotten to know Wayne Helliwell a little over the years, and he gave me a good starting point for a Devil’s Bowl setup last week. It must be pretty good, since he just won that big race.”

Rocco’s championship credentials may precede him, but Devil’s Bowl Speedway’s J&S Steel Late Model division regulars will be ready and waiting when he arrives. Main contenders Craig Bushey, Kevin Elliott, Matt White, Chris Wilk, and Norm Andrews of Vermont, New Yorkers Dan Petronis and Danny Sullivan, and New Hampshire’s Bryan Town will be gunning for Rocco on Sunday and each other all year. The J&S Steel Late Models will be joined in NASCAR Whelen All-American Series action by the Bond Auto Parts Modifieds, Renegades, and Bombers.

“En parlant avec notre champion de 2011, Maxime Pelletier et plusieurs de nos autres pilotes, je sais que nos gars ont beaucoup aimé courir à Airborne septembre passé,” dit le promoteur d’Autodrome St-Eustache Alan Labrosse. “Les courses à Airborne seront des évènements qui compteront pour notre championnat, donc il y aura beaucoup de nos équipes à Plattsburgh.”

Les estrades ouvriront samedi à 15h. L’action des qualifications débutera à 17h. Le prix d’entrée sera de $15 pour adultes, enfants moins de 12 ans gratuits.

Theriault, Sweet Join Polewarczyk in Speed 51 Short Track Draft

Waterbury, VT – Speed 51.com, a racing news publication, has chosen Fort Kent, ME’s Austin Theriault and Barre, VT’s Nick Sweet as two of the top 51 short track drivers in the country in their “Speed 51 Short Track Draft.”

Theriault, coming off a third place finish at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on the American Canadian Tour, was chosen as the 41st best driver in the country. Speed 51 touted the young star saying, “Talented and consistent in different forms of Late Model racing,” and, “Theriault has been turning heads all across New England for a few years”. Theriault beamed with pride at the news.

“It just goes to show that it’s all about hard work and dedication. I’ve been around some great people in the racing world right from the start and it has really helped me grow as a person and a driver. It’s much more about the people that help you along the way, than me as a driver. It’s a team effort,” said Theriault. “The number isn’t even the point, it’s just an honor to be recognized.”

Picked number 46 on the list was former Thunder Road Champion Nick Sweet. The draft claimed Sweet as, “One of the best to have run at (Thunder Road),” and claimed that, “Sweet was hot at times last season as he has the number 88VT car up front in all events he competed in.” Sweet was pleasantly surprised to hear his name on the list.

“That list is really all the short track drivers in the country? Wow,” said the ever-modest Sweet. “This year has been a rebuilding year for us as we have been really trying to focus on getting myself and teammate Eric Chase better. To be on that list is just phenomenal.”

Sweet and Theriault will resume ACT racing action for the Oxford 150 at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, ME on Sunday, May 20. Post time is 2:00pm.

'The Lady in Green' Meets 'The Lady in Black'

KANNAPOLIS, N.C., (May 9, 2012) – It’s been called the toughest of all tracks on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule. So much so that Darlington (S.C.) Raceway years ago was nicknamed “The Track Too Tough To Tame.”

Darlington is an egg-shaped oval 1.366 miles in length – the odd shape because the western portion of the oval needed a tighter radius on the turns as founder Harold Brasington promised Sherman Ramsey, who owned a farm next to the property, that he wouldn’t disturb his minnow pond when he built the track in 1949.

The odd shape also means that, to find the fast way around the track, drivers run against the outside walls in each turn, sometimes brushing up against the wall and thus earning what has affectionately become known as a “Darlington Stripe” on the right side of the car. And the black marks left on the walls by the tires rubbing up against them all race weekend have led to the track’s other nickname – “The Lady in Black.”

Saturday night, “The Lady in Green,” Danica Patrick, driver of the green No.10 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet, will meet “The Lady in Black” for the very first time when she competes in the Bojangles’ Southern 500 Sprint Cup race at Darlington.

Patrick, who has never been to Darlington, will also compete in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race Friday night at the 1.366-mile oval before competing in just her second-ever Sprint Cup race the next night.

Her first Sprint Cup start came in February’s rain-delayed Daytona 500, where she finished a disappointing 38^th, having completed only 138 of 202 laps after being caught in an accident not of her making on the third lap.

She’ll hope to fare better in the 367-lap race Saturday night, but she knows that just getting seat time and experience at the Sprint Cup level is most important as she continues her transition from IndyCar to NASCAR.

DANICA PATRICK, Driver of the No. 10 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet:

What are your overall thoughts heading to Darlington and your second Sprint Cup Series start?

“I’m told it’s not going to be so much about the track and getting comfortable and getting up to speed or feeling good, that it’s going to be more about learning how to pass there and how that works because it’s one lane and one groove. I believe it’s high in (turns) one and two and low in (turns) three and four. Just going to two-wide in one and two can cost you a second a lap, so it’s a matter of being smart about when you’re supposed to let off and give the position up for the sake of overall time. Getting used to that is going to be the hardest thing. Other than that, it’s a new track for me, so feeling out the rhythm of the race is going to be another challenge.”

You announced in January that you will not compete in the Indianapolis 500 and, instead, compete in the Sprint Cup Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway. It’s now May. What are your thoughts on that?

“I’m sure it will be a little strange. I’m sure I’ll be paying attention – I love Indy. I’m confident it will work out in the future. But I loved the three weeks of Indy, so when they cut it down to two weeks, I was disappointed. I tried to talk everyone into going back to three weeks. But I have a feeling my plate’s going to be full, and I’ll be well-distracted with lots of NASCAR racing and flying all over the country during May and ending up in Charlotte for Memorial Day weekend. I’m excited to see how NASCAR does Memorial Day weekend. I know how it’s done in IndyCar, how to honor the day and what it really means about people serving our country. So I’m excited to see how NASCAR does it.”

You’ve been to just about every track except for Darlington. With that, what style of track have you enjoyed going to?

“I like Daytona- and Talladega-style racing. I really do. It reminds me a lot of IndyCar racing because you’re flat out, looking for air, trying to stay with the pack and trying to weave your way though. It’s like I described it in IndyCar – it’s a high-speed chess match. I’m used to it; I like it. It’s not about the speed; it’s about the style. Outside of that, I think the mile-and-a-halves are probably my favorites just because I feel like more happens and it’s a little bit more in your control where, at places like Daytona and Talladega, it’s out of your control and it’s difficult to avoid big accidents, at times. So, I prefer the mile-and-a-halves, I suppose, at this point. The really high-banked, high-gripped mile-and-a-halves have been my favorite thus far. But, then again, they’ve been the ones where I’ve done the best.”

Do you watch the Sprint Cup Series races you don’t compete in?

“I do. I watch as many as I can. Sometimes I have commitments, but I watch as many as I can because it’s good to pick up things that I see for the future.”

Can you talk about Tony Stewart since you both have experience in IndyCar racing?

“We don’t talk a lot about IndyCar and NASCAR. They’re very different worlds. I think it’s nice that I know he has the reference and can understand where I’m coming from, perhaps, with some feelings and certain ways I describe the car. But we don’t speak specifically about Indy cars because of the difference in cars. So, for me, it’s nice to have a guy like Tony, who is confident and will help me and give me answers and be honest and want to see me get better. And the IndyCar references are just nice from a background standpoint that he understands what I’m talking about.”

A lot of the attention has been on your relationship with Tony Stewart. Can you talk about working with Ryan Newman?

“For me, with Ryan, he’s been really kind to me over the years – especially the last couple of years in NASCAR. He’s commented a couple of times to me. Stopped and chatted about doing a good job out there and how’s it going. General curiosity. So I get along great with Ryan. We were actually just talking about some charity stuff, too, with dogs. I know he does a lot with animals. I share the same views as Krissie (Newman, his wife), apparently. So I think I’ll probably sit down and talk with her about that. But I really like him. I think the team, as a whole, is going to have a lot of fun.”

The Bojangles’ Southern 500 will mark Danica Patrick’s second career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start. Her first came in February’s rain-delayed 54th Daytona 500 at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, where she finished 38th having completing only 138 of 202 laps after being involved in a multi-car accident not of her making on lap three.

Friday night’s VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200 NASCAR Nationwide Series race will be Patrick’s first NASCAR start of any kind at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway.

Patrick has career totals of one top-five finish, four top-10s, 21 laps led and one pole in 33 career Nationwide Series races.

In 2012 Nationwide Series competition, Patrick has one pole (Daytona) and a best finish of eighth, which came in April at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth.

Four Score: In March 2011, Patrick finished fourth in the Nationwide Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the best-ever finish by a woman in a NASCAR national stock-car series, topping a fifth-place run by Sarah Christian in a Sprint Cup race in 1949 at Heidelberg (Pa.) Raceway.

History Maker: Patrick became the first woman to win a major-league open-wheel race in a North American series in April 2009 by winning the IZOD IndyCar Series Indy Japan 300 at the Twin Ring Motegi oval in Japan.

Point Taken: In 2009, Patrick finished fifth in IZOD IndyCar Series points, the best finish ever for a woman in the series.

Big Stage: In seven Indianapolis 500 starts, Patrick finished in the top-10 six times, including a third-place result in 2009, the best finish ever for a woman in the historic race.

AUTODROME GRANBY - FEU VERT SAISON 2012

Un nombre record de 117 voitures étaient en piste pour la journée des pratiques de samedi dernier. Une belle journée pour les nombreux amateurs heureux de revoir leurs idoles.

Le plus important évènement jamais présenté au Québec prendra place vendredi et samedi les 11 et 12 mai. Pour une première fois à l'Autodrome Granby, 5 associations de Sprint Car seront en piste et lutteront pour remporter l'épreuve et la bourse de $ 5000.00. C’est un montant total de $ 85 000.00 en bourse qui sera remis aux pilotes qui participent aux différentes épreuves. Les meilleurs pilotes de la série Empire Super Sprint, Sprint Car of New England, Southern Ontario Sprint,Corr Pak Sprint et Patriot Sprint Tour s'affronteront sur le circuit de 1/2 mile. 40 pilotes ont déjà confirmé leur présence. L'homme à battre est Shane Stewart (21), il a remporté à 3 reprises le Knoxville 360. Il a terminé 2^e en 410 la plus prestigieuse course de Sprint. Stewart a même remporté une victoire en Australie. A 34 ans, il a mérité plus de 90 victoires en 13 ans de carrière. Glenn Styres (0) sera en piste, il a mérité une victoire en Floride en février dernier. Il a remporté 4 championnats avec les Southern Ontario Sprint. M. Styres est le propriétaire de la piste d’Ohsweken en Ontario. Dain Naida (07x) sera aussi en piste. Jessica Zemken qui est toujours très bien accueillie à Granby nous a confirmé sa présence. Bryan Holland et Jared Zimbardi ont aussi confirmé leur présence. Nos talentueux pilotes locaux vont tout tenter pour vous en mettre plein la vue. Steve Poirier ( 28 FM), Alain Bergeron ( 8 B), Michael Parent ( 25), Lee Ladouceur et plusieurs autres seront de la compétition. Une finale de 20 tours sera présentée vendredi tandis que samedi les Sprint s'élanceront pour 30 tours.

Les Modifié seront en piste, le talentueux pilote Nascar, Andrew Ranger aura l'honneur de piloter un bolide préparé par l'équipe de l'équipe de Mario Clair. 26 voitures étaient présentes lors des pratiques de samedi dernier 3 nouveaux pilotes sont admissibles au titre de recrue 2012. Le champion défendant François Bernier ( 49) fera tout en son possible pour conserver son titre. Plusieurs pilotes comme les Clair, les Therrien, Robidoux, Brouillard, Boisvert, Bernard, Bussière, Gougeon, Boissonneault, Ledoux, Whitteker et plusieurs autres tenteront de remporter le championnat 2012. À vous de faire vos prédictions, plusieurs pilotes pourraient nous surprendre.

Les nombreux pilotes Sportsman seront aussi en piste vendredi pour une finale de 25 tours, ils étaient 30 voitures lors des pratiques dont 7 pilotes recrues. Les 4 et 6 cylindres s'affronteront aussi vendredi lors d'une finale de 15 tours.

De nouveaux visages se sont ajoutés à la catégorie Prostock, ils seront en piste samedi pour une épreuve de 25 tours. Les nombreux pilotes Lightning Sprint partageront aussi la vedette samedi avec une finale de 20 tours.

Une fin de semaine inoubliable vous attend en ce début de saison. Le prix d'entrée est fixé à 25.00 $ pour vendredi et 30.00 $ pour samedi. Les étudiants de moins de 18 ans avec carte d'identité seront admis gratuitement à chaque programme de la saison 2012.

Venez célébrer avec nous, le début d'une saison très chargée à l'Autodrome Granby, c'est un rendez-vous à ne pas manquer. Le plus gros spectacle de Sprint Car au Québec se déroulera à Granby en fin de semaine.

Two NASCAR Nationwide Series Crew Chiefs Fined; Crew Chiefs, Car Chiefs Placed On Probation For Infractions At Talladega Superspeedway

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (May 8, 2012) – NASCAR announced today that two NASCAR Nationwide Series crew chiefs had been fined and placed on probation for violations during this past weekend’s event at Talladega Superspeedway. In addition, the teams’ respective car chiefs have also been placed on probation for the remainder of the year.

Crew chiefs Jeremy Bullins (No. 22 team) and Chad Walter (No. 12 team) have each been fined $10,000 and placed on NASCAR probation until Dec. 31. Additionally, the teams’ respective car chiefs – Thomas Clavette (No. 22) and Raymond Fox (No. 12) – have been placed on NASCAR probation until Dec. 31.

The rules violations referred to Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing); 12-4J (any determination by NASCAR officials that the race equipment used in the event does not conform to NASCAR rules detailed in Section 20-A of the rule book); 20A-2.1E (streamlining of the contours of the car, beyond what is approved by the series director will not be permitted. Installation of air directional devices, underpans, baffles, shields or the like beneath the car or the car’s hood and fender area, front firewall, floor, rear firewall area, rear deck and quarter panel will not be permitted. If, in the judgment of NASCAR officials, any part or component of the car not previously approved by NASCAR has been installed or modified to enhance aerodynamic performance, will not be permitted. All cars must remain standard in appearance); 20A-3.10A (front upper bumper cover must be from the respective OEM manufacturer and must be approved by NASCAR. The front lower bumper cover and rear bumper cover must be from an approved manufacturer and must be approved by NASCAR. Once approved, the front lower bumper covers may be used on all approved models. NASCAR officials may use bumper covers provided by the respective manufacturer as a guide in determining whether a competitor’s bumper cover conforms to the specifications of the NASCAR rule book. Unless otherwise authorized by the series director, cutting and reshaping of bumper covers will not be permitted.)

The infractions were discovered during opening day inspection on May 3.

Airborne Late Models face Canadian invasion

For immediate release – Airborne Speedway – May 8, 2012

South Plattsburgh, NY – It’s more laps, more money and more competition for Airborne’s J&S Steel Limited Late Models this Saturday night, May 12 when TD Bank presents the opening round of the six-race USA/Canada Master Series.

Defending track champion Robin Wood, last week’s feature winner Jamy Begor, Shawn Duquette and Bucko Branham are among the Airborne frontrunners who will test the best from Autodrome St-Eustache in a 50-lap, $1,000-to-win event.

Branham, the winningest Airborne driver of the last decade, came out on top when the Canadian teams made their first-ever appearance on the Plattsburgh half-mile last fall.

This year, the USA/Canada competition has been expanded into a six-race series – three races at each track – that carries a combined purse and point fund of over $40,000.

The first two Airborne Limited Late Model Masters Series events are 50 laps. The third Airborne event, Saturday, August 4, will utilize the “4-20’s” format, which combines the finishes of four 20-lap sprints. The first two Canadian events, slated for Saturday, May 19 and Saturday July 21, are 75 laps. The “Shootout” finale is 125 laps with competition yellows on lap 50 and lap 100.

“Speaking with our 2011 track champion Maxim Pelletier and many of our other drivers, I know that our guys enjoyed racing at Airborne very much last September,” Autodrome St-Eustache promoter Alan Labrosse said. “The Airborne events are point races towards our track championship, so you can be sure there will be plenty of our teams at Plattsburgh.”

Gates open Saturday at 3 p.m. Qualifying action begins at 5 p.m. Admission is $15/adults, kids 12 and under free.

Polewarczyk Picked Top 25 in Speed 51 Short Track Draft

Waterbury, VT – Speed51.com, a national racing news site, has named American Canadian Tour star Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. of Hudson, NH one of the top 25 short track drivers in the country according to their 2012 Short Track Draft. This marks the third year in a row that Polewarczyk has made the prestigious list.

The racing news website touted Pole’s resume on the ACT tour stating ”Pole has won countless races in the American Canadian Tour Late Models that dominate parts of the Northeast. The series is very challenging and offers a strong front to build off of as 30-plus cars show up to run each week, with the bigger shows drawing 40 or more with international flavor.”

Polewarczyk, who is coming off of a strong second place finish at Devil’s Bowl Speedway last weekend, was ecstatic to hear the news.

“That list is everybody in the country really, so it means a lot. To be on the same list of drivers with guys like Bubba Pollard and all those guys, 25^th is really an honor. It really speaks for our team. It’s not just good for me, it’s good for everybody,” said Polewarczyk.

When asked about how it changes his confidence level for the rest of 2012, he stood by his team. “Honestly it doesn’t change anything. This whole year we’ve been looking at races differently. I feel like every race this year we’ve had a shot at winning. At Lee I made a mistake, at Thunder Road we pitted at the wrong time, and we were so close at Devil’s Bowl. Our team looks good, everyone is happy. We just go out there every week to try to win those races.“

Titled 2011 Rookie of the Year for the series, performance, passion and perseverance lead Louis-Philippe Dumoulin to continue his progression within the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series through the development of this new partnership, allowing him to compete in the full calendar of the NCTS.

Dumoulin Compétition passe à une autre étape qui nécessite un support spécialisé pour la préparation des voitures. « Après trois ans de participation en série NASCAR Canadian Tire, nous sommes prêts à faire le championnat et nous sommes conscients qu'on ne peut pas le faire tout seul. La voiture n°47 WeatherTech Canada / Bellemare sera préparée par l’équipe de Scott Steckly », mentionne l’instructeur de pilotage. Les premiers essais sur circuits routiers ont eu lieu le 1^er mai dernier au Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (Mosport), ils poursuivront les essais au même endroit le 10 mai prochain.

Louis-Philippe Dumoulin, spécialiste des circuits routiers, a participé aux trois dernières courses de la saison sur circuit ovale l’an dernier (Barrie, Ont – Antigonish, N.-S. – Kawartha, Ont.) au volant d’une voiture modifiée et très peu adaptée pour ce genre d’épreuve. Le Québécois souligne que « la préparation spécifique de la voiture d’ovale n°47 WeatherTech Canada / Bellemare sera l’opportunité d’optimiser la technique propre à ce type de piste ».

Jean-François Dumoulin est fier supporteur de son frère et de sa ténacité, propre à la famille Dumoulin. « Nous avons tous travaillé fort depuis 2009 pour trouver du financement et faire une saison complète en série. C'est le résultat d'un travail d'équipe sans relâche », partage l’aîné des frères Dumoulin. Sa participation aux côtés de son frère est confirmée pour les épreuves du Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières (3, 4 et 5 août 2012) ainsi qu’au Napa Pièces d’auto 200 de Montréal (16, 17 et 18 août 2012).

Louis-Philippe Dumoulin participera à la première épreuve de la saison lors du Victoria Day SpeedFest du 18 au 20 mai prochain sur le circuit de Mosport (Canadian Tire Motorsport Park).
