Theriault, Sweet Join Polewarczyk in Speed 51 Short Track Draft

Waterbury, VT – Speed 51.com, a racing news publication, has chosen Fort Kent, ME’s Austin Theriault and Barre, VT’s Nick Sweet as two of the top 51 short track drivers in the country in their “Speed 51 Short Track Draft.”

Theriault, coming off a third place finish at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on the American Canadian Tour, was chosen as the 41st best driver in the country. Speed 51 touted the young star saying, “Talented and consistent in different forms of Late Model racing,” and, “Theriault has been turning heads all across New England for a few years”. Theriault beamed with pride at the news.

“It just goes to show that it’s all about hard work and dedication. I’ve been around some great people in the racing world right from the start and it has really helped me grow as a person and a driver. It’s much more about the people that help you along the way, than me as a driver. It’s a team effort,” said Theriault. “The number isn’t even the point, it’s just an honor to be recognized.”

Picked number 46 on the list was former Thunder Road Champion Nick Sweet. The draft claimed Sweet as, “One of the best to have run at (Thunder Road),” and claimed that, “Sweet was hot at times last season as he has the number 88VT car up front in all events he competed in.” Sweet was pleasantly surprised to hear his name on the list.

“That list is really all the short track drivers in the country? Wow,” said the ever-modest Sweet. “This year has been a rebuilding year for us as we have been really trying to focus on getting myself and teammate Eric Chase better. To be on that list is just phenomenal.”

Sweet and Theriault will resume ACT racing action for the Oxford 150 at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, ME on Sunday, May 20. Post time is 2:00pm.

Polewarczyk Picked Top 25 in Speed 51 Short Track Draft

Waterbury, VT – Speed51.com, a national racing news site, has named American Canadian Tour star Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. of Hudson, NH one of the top 25 short track drivers in the country according to their 2012 Short Track Draft. This marks the third year in a row that Polewarczyk has made the prestigious list.

The racing news website touted Pole’s resume on the ACT tour stating ”Pole has won countless races in the American Canadian Tour Late Models that dominate parts of the Northeast. The series is very challenging and offers a strong front to build off of as 30-plus cars show up to run each week, with the bigger shows drawing 40 or more with international flavor.”

Polewarczyk, who is coming off of a strong second place finish at Devil’s Bowl Speedway last weekend, was ecstatic to hear the news.

“That list is everybody in the country really, so it means a lot. To be on the same list of drivers with guys like Bubba Pollard and all those guys, 25^th is really an honor. It really speaks for our team. It’s not just good for me, it’s good for everybody,” said Polewarczyk.

When asked about how it changes his confidence level for the rest of 2012, he stood by his team. “Honestly it doesn’t change anything. This whole year we’ve been looking at races differently. I feel like every race this year we’ve had a shot at winning. At Lee I made a mistake, at Thunder Road we pitted at the wrong time, and we were so close at Devil’s Bowl. Our team looks good, everyone is happy. We just go out there every week to try to win those races.“

Polewarczyk will continue his journey to becoming the next American Canadian Tour Champion at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, ME for the Oxford 150 on Sunday, May 20. Post time 1:00.

First ACT win for Helliwell; Gordon and Masterson also winners

WEST HAVEN, VT – Devil’s Bowl Speedway fans rocked the grandstands with exciting season-opening stock car racing at the 101.5 “The Fox” Spring Green on Sunday afternoon. Wayne Helliwell, Jr., and Vince Quenneville, Jr., brought the house to its feet with close finishes and emotional landmark wins. Robert Gordon and Josh Masterson each started the 2012 campaign off in victory lane as well.

Helliwell, of Dover, NH, copped his first career victory on the American-Canadian Tour in a razor-close finish with Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. Helliwell started the 112-lap main event in third place but was held up in early traffic and fell back almost outside the top then. He clawed his way back to the front on the outside lane, taking the lead from Polewarczyk just after the halfway point in the race. Hudson, NH racer Polewarczyk held nothing back during the final laps as he tried to steal the win, but Helliwell persevered for his inaugural ACT Late Model Tour score. Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, ME drove from 20^th starting position to finish third ahead of Ray Parent and Randy Potter.

Vince Quenneville, Jr., made his return to Devil’s Bowl Speedway a popular one with his home track fans, taking the first Bond Auto Parts Modified victory of the year in the 35-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series feature. Quenneville, of Brandon, VT, drove into the lead on the outside of defending champion Ron Proctor after a restart with seven laps remaining and never looked back. Proctor, of Charlton, NY, held off a furious mid-race charge from Leon Gonyo for the runner-up spot. Jessey Mueller drove from 18^th starting position to finish third, with Gonyo fourth and rookie Joey Roberts completing the unofficial top five.

Rob Gordon of Milton, VT opened the season with a 25-lap score in the Renegade feature. Gordon beat Lance Rabtoy of Fairfax, VT in a comfortable margin at the finish, but not before two- and three-wide racing in the first half of the race. Ryan Keith finished third ahead of Frank Monroe and Jeremy Jones.

Rookie Josh Masterson of Bristol, VT started his Bomber division career on the right foot by winning that class’ 20-lap feature in his first career start. Harold LaVair of Gabriels, NY held on for second place. Ray Germain, Jr., was third, followed by John McCarron and Dan Collins.

Devil’s Bowl Speedway is back in action on Sunday, May 13 for a Mother’s Day Special event at 1:30pm. General admission is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors (62+), and free for children 12 and under. Helliwell Claims First ACT Win, Unofficially Takes Over Point Lead

West Haven, VT – Wayne Helliwell Jr. of Dover, NH dominated the second half of The Fox 101.5 Spring Green 112 on the way to his first ever American Canadian Tour victory on Sunday May 6, 2012 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. Helliwell took over the lead on lap 58 and had to fend off a late race attack from Hudson, NH’s Joey Polwarczyk Jr. to take the checkers. Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, ME stormed from the 20^th starting position to take over third, Ray Parent and Randy Potter completed the top five.

The race began with weekly competitor Craig Bushey leading the first lap after a +5 in the ACT plus minus system earned him the second starting position. Multi-time Oxford Plains Speedway Champion Ricky Rolfe took over for the next 26 laps before the lead was briefly wrestled away by former Thunder Road Champion Nick Sweet. Sweet only held on to the lead for two laps before Groveton’s Randy Potter took over the point.

Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. stormed from mid-pack to take the lead away from Potter on lap 50, only to have it taken away for good by Helliwell on lap 58. Helliwell started from the third position, but faded as far back as ninth before charging through the field in the second half. Helliwell had to endure a lap 98 restart and a no holds barred assault from Polewarczyk that put the large opening day crowd on its feet to claim his first ACT win and unofficially strip Williston’s Brian Hoar of the point lead.

Hyde Park’s Eric Williams climbed from 22^nd on the starting grid to finish sixth, followed by Rolfe, Quinny Welch, Brent Dragon, and Luke Hinkley completing the top ten.

The race was slowed by seven cautions, the first of which was a multi-car wreck when Glen Luce and Jamie Fisher spun in front of the field with no laps complete. The race was completed in 1:13:26, and 19 cars finished on the lead lap. All 34 ACT Late Models in attendance started the feature event.

Wayne Helliwell Jr. earned himself an invite to the ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on September 22, 2012 with his win in the Spring Green 112. He joins Brian Hoar as the first two Invitational invitees to date.

The American Canadian Tour has next weekend off, but will be back in action at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford Maine on May 20, 2012 for the Oxford 150.

14th Annual Merchants Bank 150 Weekend

PITS NOTES SATURDAY APRIL 28, 2012

· 109 cars attended the annual Car Show held at Thunder Road

· 46 ACT Late Models participated in practice in preparation for Sunday’s Merchants Bank 150.

· Joey Polewarcyzk Jr. of Hudson, NH had the fastest lap time of 13.069.

· Other fast times were set by defending Late Model Champion Dave Pembroke, two-time defending Merchants Bank 150 Champion Nick Sweet, Lt. Governor Phil Scott, former Rookie of the Year Cody Blake, as well as Ben Rowe, Brooks Clark, Randy Potter, and Cris Michaud in the Merchants Bank Ford Fusion.

· Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, ME was also fast in practice after flying back from a fifth place finish at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, FL in his Brad Keselowski Racing Development ride on Friday night.

· Four (4) Canadian teams participated in practice with former ACT Champion Patrick Laperle the fastest among them with a time of 13.175

· Cris Michaud, of E. Montpelier won the pit stop contest with a time of 21.69 after Patrick Laperle’s team recorded a time of 21.63 but received a 10 second penalty for two loose lugnuts

· Brent Dragon of Milton, VT was the most consistent driver of the day. He was in the top five fastest cars in the first three practices.

· All but two of the ACT Late Model Champions over the past 20 years (Pete Fecteau and Lance Ferno) will attempt to qualify for The Merchants Bank 150

· David Finck of Barre, VT and Shawn Fleury of Middlesex, VT were consistently the fastest Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen

· Cam Ouelette of Barre, VT and Tommy Smith of Williamstown, VT ran the fastest times of the day in the Allen Lumber Street Stock division.

· Street Stock driver Brock Parrot of Williamstown, VT took a spin after a malfunction in the drive train, and the wheel of the #35 Street Stock of Keith Fortier of Hinesburg, VT came off entering turn one. All were okay.

· With no major wrecks or spins, all the cars participating in practice today are expected to attempt to qualify for the Merchants Bank 150 on Sunday, April 29 at 1pm.

Ford Blue Oval Cup Program Enters Third Season in 2012

Waterbury, VT – The Ford Blue Oval Cup expects continued growth entering its third season in 2012. The program has awarded over $30,000 to American Canadian Tour Late Model teams around the Northeast U.S. and Eastern Canada since its inaugural 2010 season.

The Blue Oval Cup program was developed for Ford competitors in ACT Late Model events and ACT affiliated tracks in 2010, the first full-season of the Ford engine’s inclusion in the ACT rulebook. The program saw a near 100% increase in participating competitors during the 2011 season.

“Ford Racing is once again proud to renew the Blue Oval Challenge Cup with the American Canadian Tour. This is the third year for one of the richest programs that Ford Racing offers for the short track racer. Not only do the top 10 ACT Racers using the S347JR have the opportunity for the season end-cash rewards, but all Ford-Powered ACT Racers have access to technical support directly from Ford Racing,” said Mike Delahanty of Ford Racing. “In the three years since introducing the Blue Oval Challenge Cup, a number of the top ACT Teams have made the switch to the S347JR engine, not just for the benefits of the program, but for the race-winning performance that the engine delivers.”

The program is expected to continue to grow during the 2012 season as Ford has posted $27,000 in awards for Ford Late Model teams. The Ford awards contingencies to podium finishing Ford competitors in all ACT events throughout the season. Registered Ford teams also receive points all season long for competition in ACT events and ACT affiliated tracks for the Ford Blue Oval Cup.

Wayne Helliwell, Jr. earned his second straight Ford Blue Oval Cup Championship in 2011, while also claiming second in the ACT standings. Ford has also scored several big wins, including Joey Polewarczyk, Jr.’s 2010 ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, 2010 People’s United Bank Milk Bowl at Thunder Road and 2011 Goodyear Speedweeks Cup at New Smyrna (FL) Speedway.

The 2012 ACT season will kick off on Sunday, April 15^th with the New Hampshire Governor’s Cup 150 at Lee USA Speedway in Lee, NH.

ACT RESULTS: Jeff White Takes First ACT Win in Big JAB 150 at Oxford Plains Speedway

Oxford, ME – Winthrop, Maine’s Jeff White earned his first career American Canadian Tour win in dominant fashion at his hometrack of Oxford Plains Speedway on Saturday, June 4. White led all but three laps in the Big JAB 150 while battling with seven time and defending ACT Champion Brian Hoar.

Hoar held on for second followed by Brent Dragon, Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. and another Oxford regular TJ Brackett rounding out the top five. Shawn Martin completed the three Oxford regulars in the top ten with a sixth. Wayne Helliwell was the biggest mover in the 150 lap event as he came all the way from 32^nd to finished seventh. Eric Chase, Jeff Labrecque, Jr., and 2010 ACT Rookie of the Year Brad Babb completed the top ten.

A total of 41 ACT Late Models attempted to qualify for the 33 car field. The 150 lap event was completed in just 1 hour and four minutes with just three cautions. Twelve of the 33 car field finished on the lead lap.

With his first career ACT win, White also earns an invite to the ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday, September 24. He joins Hoar, Nick Sweet, Patrick Laperle, John Donahue and Daniel Descoste on the list of ACT winners that have received an invite so far in 2011.

The ACT Late Model Tour has next weekend off before making its annual trip to White Mountain Motorsports Park in North Woodstock, NH on Saturday, June 18 for a 150 lap event.

ACT PR : ACT Looks for 9th Different Winner at Lee Opener

Waterbury, VT – The American Canadian Tour will look for its ninth different Lee USA Speedway winner in this Sunday’s (April 17) 2011 New Hampshire Governor’s Cup 150 season opener. No driver has been able to repeat in the eight events held at the 3/8ths mile speedway since 2003.

Three of the previous eight winners will attempt to change that fact on Sunday, as seven-time ACT Champion Jean-Paul Cyr of Milton, VT (2005), ACT’s hottest driver at the end of 2010 Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. from Hudson, NH (2008) and defending NH Governor’s Cup winner Miles Chipman from Epping, NH (2010) have all filed entries. But that leaves over 40 other drivers aiming at their first career ACT win at Lee.

Seven-time and defending ACT Tour Champion Brian Hoar (Williston, VT) is among them. He has only had two career starts at Lee but has finished inside the top ten both times with a 9^th in 2009 and a 3^rd last season. A win Sunday would make Lee his 12^th different track with an ACT victory.

Two veteran ACT competitors will attempt to break into victory lane and earn their first career top fives at the speedway. Milton, VT’s Brent Dragon and Shelburne, VT’s Jamie Fisher are the only two drivers to start all eight events at Lee, but neither has cracked the top five.

Fellow veterans Mark Lamberton of Mooer’s Forks, NY and Joey Laquerre of East Montpelier, VT are among only 10 drivers with multiple top fives in ACT Lee competition. Lamberton earned back to back top fives in 2005 and 2006 including a podium finish. Laquerre picked up his second 5^th place effort in the 2010 NH Gov. Cup.

Wayne Helliwell, Jr. of Dover, NH leads the way for former Lee regulars as the multi-time track champion. Helliwell claimed nine feature wins at Lee in 2010 and earned a career best 6^th in the ACT visit. He’ll be closely followed by Rochester, NH’s Jeffrey Labrecque, Jr. who turned a lot of heads with his own career best ACT, finish as the NH Governor’s Cup runner-up in 2010.

Several drivers from the Série Castrol Edge will make their trip across the border for the season opener. 2010 Série Castrol Edge Champion Karl Allard of St-Felicien, Quebec will attempt to make his first start at the speedway. He will be joined by fellow Castrol Edge Champion (2006, 2009) Donald Theetge of Quebec City, QC, who has two career ACT starts at Lee. Also making the trek south are Quebecers Yvon “The Bullet” Bedard of St-Nicolas and Princeville’s Jimmy Cormier.

The 2011 ACT Tour season is set to kick off this Sunday, April 17 with the New Hampshire Governor’s Cup 150 at Lee (NH) USA Speedway. General admission gates will open at 10:00am with post time at 1:00pm.

New Smyrna Beach, Fla - Brian Hoar remporte le deuxime 100 tours pour voiture ACT à New Smyrna Speedway dans le cadre de Speedweeks 2011. Mark Lamberton et l’ontarien Jonathna Urlin complètent le podium.

Deux pilotes ne sont pas revenus à la compétition aujourd’hui. Soit Joey Laquerre qui a été impliqué dans un violent accident et qui là forcé à se retirer. Le deuxième a été Kevin Roberge qui s’est vu informé par les officiels d’ACT qu’il ne pourrait pas prendre le départ puisqu’il avait manqué la réunion des pilotes.

« Je participe à deux classes et les puits sont à des endroits vraiment différent. La voiture ACT est à l’extérieur de la piste, tandis que le Crate / Late Model est au centre. Je travaillais sur ma voiture Crate et quand est venu le temps de traverser je ne pouvais pas le faire » déclara Roberge.

Two drivers did not return to competition today. Joey Laquerre who was involved in a crash and totalled his racecar had to forfeit from competition. And Kevin Roberge was informed by ACT Officials, that since he missed the driver’s meeting he would not be able to take part of the second race.

“I am competing in two classes and we are pitting in different locations. While the ACT car is outside the race track, the Crate / Late Model is in the inside. I was working on my Crate car and when I had to cross over there were cars on the track and I could not go over” said Roberge.

La grille de départ était déterminer par l’inversion des 18 première positions à l’arrivée de la première finale.

Aaron Fellows et Spencer MacPherson partaient à l’avant. Fellows aura mené le premier tour. MacPherson a pris les commandes au 2^e passage et mena jusqu’au 12^e circuit.

Effectuant un retour à la compétition ACT après quelques années sur la terre battue, Mike Bruno a pris les commandes de l’épreuve au treizième tour.

Jonathan Urlin qui en avait arraché dans la première course a travaillé très fort sur la tenue de route de la voiture. Ça marché, il a mené deux fois soit du 39 au 67^e passage et du 68 au 71^e passage. Il terminera troisième.

Mark Lamberton a pris le départ en 14^e place a remonté rapidement pour se hisser dans le top 5 pour la majeur partie de la course. Il a terminé deuxième.

Hoar qui a terminé sixième dans le premier 100 tours, ne démontrait pas sa puissance habituelle. Naviguant dans le groupe à partir de sa treizième place au départ, il a pris la tête au soixante-douzième tour et ne là jamais concédée.

« Quand nous avons déchargée la voiture, nous n’étions pas là. Nous avons travaillé très dur en pratique, je suis gonflé à bloc.

C’est exactement ce qu’on avait comme objectif. Nous avons tous donné pour remporter la coupe, félicitations à Joey Polewarczyk. Mais surtout félicitations à mon équipe » déclara Hoar.

Joey Polewarzyck a remporté le premier 100 tours la veille, cette fois il aura mené un seul tour et a terminé cinquième. Ce qui fut suffisant pour remporter la coupe ACT Goodyear Speedweeks Cup.

« Je croyais que l’on avait une voiture pour l’emporter. Les gars ont fait tout un travail pour me donner une si bonne voiture.

Je savais que j’aurais une chance avec une relance à la fin, mais j’ai vraiment utilisé la machine en remontant le peloton comme je l’ai fais. Mais nous avons fait ce qu’il fallait pour remporter la première Coupe ACT Goodyear Speedweeks Cup » déclara Pole.

Le champion ACT Castrol 2010, Karl Allard n’a pas réussi à améliorer son finish en terminant huitième.

Patrick Laperle qui a fini côte-à-côte avec Allard s’est fait battre par quelques courses. Laperle qui a remonté dans le top 5 en moins de 41 tours après être parti 17^e semblait en route pour un podium. Cependant après la mi-course, il a visité les puits lors d’un ralentissement pour ce qu’il croyait à se moment là être une crevaison. Il terminera neuvième.

« Nous sommes venus ici pour l’emporter. Tout autre résultat est décevant pour nous » a dit Laperle.

Quand nous lui avons demander à propos de la visite aux puits, fidèle à son habitude nous avons eu une réponse colorée : « Goodyear ne sait pas comment faire des pneus. Nous étions une des première équipe à piger et il n’y avait pas de choix. Alors nous avons essayer de les agrandir pour obtenir le stagger nécessaire. Ça na pas marché. Alors, sur le jaune nous avons baissé les pressions d’air. On savait qu’ont ne pouvaient plus l’emporter sans faire un changement drastique. »

Le champion 2007 et 2009, Donald Theege a terminé douzième. Alex Labbé a terminé une décevante vingt-et-unième place. « Je crois que nous avions une voiture pour un top cinq. On s’est fait tassé et sa rendue la voiture instable. Je ne crois pas que Donald [Theetge] savait que j’étais là, mais s’il le savait c’est pas très sportif » a déclaré Labbé.

The field’s stating positions was set by virtue of an inversion of the top 18 finishing positions from the first 100 laps event.

Aaron Fellows and Spencer MacPherson started on the front row. Fellows would lead the first lap.

MacPherson would take over and lead from lap 2 to lap 12.

Returning to ACT competition after spending some time dirt racing, Mike Bruno showed some strength and took the lead on lap 13.

Jonathan Urlin who struggled in last night’s 100 lapper worked feverishly on the car’s setup. It worked for them, he would lead ltwice from lap 39 to lap 67 and from 68 to 71. He would go on to finish third.

Mark Lamberton who started 14^th moved rapidly to the front and stayed in the top five most of the night. He finished second.

Hoar who finished 6^th in the first 100 laps event the evening before, has not shown his usual dominance. Moving up thru the field from his 13^th place starting position he claimed the lead on lap 72 and never relinquished it for the win.

“When we unloaded here, we were junk. We worked really hard in practice, and I'm pumped.

This is what we came down here to do. We did everything we could to bring (the overall championship) home, but congrats to (Joey Polewarczyk Jr.). But congrats to all my guys, too. This was just awesome“ declared Hoar.

Joey Polewarzyck who won the first 100 laps event the evening before and lead only one lap in the feature tonight. But his fifth place finish was good enough to win the overall inaugural ACT Goodyear Speedweeks Cup.

“I really thought we had the car to win tonight. The guys really put one heck of a setup under it.

I knew we'd have a good shot on (a late restart), but I really used my stuff up coming up from the back. But we did what we had to do to win the first-ever ACT Goodyear Speedweeks Cup, so that's was pretty cool” declared Pole.

Patrick Hamel posted the best finish by a Quebec driver finishing in sixth place. Hamel who was disappointed with his finish the night before finished just outside his goal of a top 5.

The 2010 ACT Castrol Champion, Karl Allard could not improve his finish in the second 100 lapper and finished in 8^th place.

Patrick Laperle who finished side by side with Allard was edged out by inches. Laperle who cracked the top 5 in only forty laps after starting deep in the field from his 17^th position was marching to a podium finish. Unfortunately on a late caution, he visited the pits for what he thought was a flat tire. He would finish ninth.

“We came here to win. Anything short is disappointing for us” said Laperle.

When asked about pitting under yellow, his response was colourful as usual: “Goodyear doesn’t know how to make tires. We were one of the first teams to pick for tires. There was just no choice. So we tried stretching them in order to get the stagger we would need for the race. It didn’t work. So we ended up taking air out to cure the poor handling condition. We were not going to win it was do or die.”

The 2007 and 2009 Castrol Champion Donald Theetge finished twelve. Alex Labbé finished a disappointing twenty-first position. “I think we had a car to finish top five. We got moved and it just junked the car. I don’t think Donald knew I was there, but if he did that was a cheap shot on his part as it could have cost us a car” said Labbé.

Yvon “la galette” Bédard a pris le départ de l’épreuve en troisième place et a réussi à rouler dans le top dix toute la soirée et semblait en route pour une belle fin de course.

« La voiture était très bonne. Nous avons fait contact avec Jacob McGrath. ACT nous a donné le noir pour la fumée sous la voiture. Ils penssait que nous étions après défoncer le moteur. C’étais le pneu contre la carosserie. Nous avons perdu trois tours à cause de cela.

Ceci met un terme aux courses ACT en Floride. Mais l’action continue ce soir pour les autres classes du World Series of Asphalt Stock Car.

“The bullet” Yvon Bédard who started third managed to stay in the top ten all evening and was showing signs of a great finish.

“The car was great until we made contact with Jacob McGrath. Then ACT black flagged us for smoking. They thought we were blowing up or engine. It was a fender rubbing the right front. We lost three laps because of that.”

This concludes the ACT races in Florida. But the action continues as part of the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car.

ACT RESULTS : Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. Claims Goodyear Speedweeks Cup Title

Brian Hoar Wins Second 100 Lap Event

New Smyrna, FL – Hudson, New Hampshire’s Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. worked his way through heavy traffic from his 18^th starting position to finish 5^th in the second round of the Goodyear Speedweeks Cup at New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna, Florida on Monday, February 14. The fifth place effort along with his win in Sunday’s 100 lapper earned him the low score of six points, just edging out seven-time ACT Late Model Tour Champion Brian Hoar who earned seven points in the Goodyear Speedweeks Cup standings.

Hoar of Williston, Vermont took the win in Monday night’s feature after starting 13^th. Mark Lamberton of Mooers Forks, New York used a second place effort to claim third in the overall standings. In the final 100 lapper Jonathan Urlin of London, Ontario, Lee USA Speedway Champion Wayne Helliwell, Jr. of Dover, New Hampshire, and Polewarczyk completed the top five. Quebec’s Patrick Hamel, Massachusetts Eddie MacDonald, Quebecers Karl Allard and Patrick Laperle and Florida’s Pete Potvin rounded out the top ten.

The early stages of the event saw Goodyear Speedweeks Cup Standing leaders Polewarczyk, Laperle, Quebec’s Alex Labbé, Lamberton and Helliwell battle their way to the front. The outside groove appeared to be the fast lane as they worked their way to the front. Labbé fell out of contention after bouncing off the wall about midway through the event and lost a lap on pit road. Laperle made a pit stop for an adjustment while running in the top ten after the halfway mark and couldn’t make it back to the front.

In the overall Goodyear Speedweeks Cup standings, Polewarczyk and Hoar were followed by Lamberton, Helliwell and Laperle in the top five. Urlin, MacDonald, Allard, Hamel, and Quebec’s Donald Theetge completed the top ten.

Monday’s event was completed in 56 minutes and 12 seconds with seven total cautions. The lead was swapped seven times among six drivers.

The American Canadian Tour’s first trip to the 2011 Goodyear Speedweeks Cup at New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna, Florida has come to a close with Monday’s event. The ACT stars will have several months off before their seasons begin. The ACT Late Model Tour’s season opener will be Sunday, April 17 at Lee USA Speedway in Lee, New Hampshire, while the Série Castrol Edge will kick off its season on Saturday, May 21 at Autodrome St-Eustache in St-Eustache, Quebec.
