Brian Hoar Wins Second Segment and Overall ACT All-Star Challenge at New Hampshire Motor Speedway

Loudon, NH – Williston, Vermont’s Brian Hoar claimed the overall ACT All-Star Challenge title after winning the second segment at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday, August 13. Hoar was running third on a lap 36 restart when segment one winner and leader at the time Eddie MacDonald of Rowley, Massachusetts had ignition troubles and had to retire from the event.

Hoar led the remainder of the 50 lap event, while holding off a hard charging Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine during the final laps. Hoar’s run from the 35^th starting position to the win combined with his second place finish in the first segment was enough to earn him the overall win with a near perfect three-point total. Theriault’s second was enough to earn him second in the overall finish as the only other car with a single digit score.

“We had a hot rod all week, from Test and Tune through today. I had a lot of anxiety starting 35th. It’s a lot of fun to run three and four wide here and I have to hand it to the entire field; they were respectful and gave a lane,” said Hoar. “I don’t think anybody’s ever seen that kind of racing in this place. It was a fun day.”

St-Denis, Quebec’s Patrick Laperle completed the podium with a 12^th and 4^th in the first and second segments respectively. Brad Leighton of Center Harbor, New Hampshire and Joey Laquerre of East Montpelier, Vermont completed the top five overall.

The combined segments totaled 75 laps and was completed in a total of one hour and twenty minutes with six cautions.

Hoar has already earned an invite to the ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday, September 24. Completing the list of invites so far are Nick Sweet, Patrick Laperle, John Donahue, Daniel Descoste, Jeff White, Patrick Hamel, Alex Labbe, Donald Theetge, Kyle Busch and Jeff Taylor.

The ACT Late Model Tour will be back in action next Saturday, August 20 for a 150 lap make up event at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine. The Série ACT Castrol has next weekend off, but will head to Riverside Speedway in Ste-Croix, Quebec for the combination Can-Am 200.

Eddie MacDonald Wins Segment #1 of ACT All-Star Challenge at New Hampshire Motor Speedway

Loudon, NH – Eddie MacDonald of Rowley, Massachusetts won segment one of the two segment ACT All-Star Challenge at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday, September 13. MacDonald outran current ACT point leader and defending champion Brian Hoar of Williston, Vermont.

MacDonald took the lead early from the outside pole but had to battle with Joey Laquerre of East Montpelier, Vermont. MacDonald broke out to a comfortable lead before Hoar chased him down in the final laps. Hoar ran out of time after just getting to MacDonald’s bumper as they worked through lap traffic.

Tom Carey, Jr. from New Salem, Massachusetts came from the eighth starting spot to take third, followed by Laquerre, and Austin Theriault completed the top five. Série ACT Castrol competitors Karl Allard, Alex Labbé and Donald Theetge took the sixth through 8^th positions. Wayne Helliwell, Jr. and Brad Leighton completed the top ten.

The second and final segment will be 50 laps and will be run at 6:15pm. The top 36 finishers from segment #1 have been inverted for the start of the second. Drivers receive points (1 for first, 2 for second, 3 for third, etc. to 44 for forty-fourth) for each segment. The overall ACT All-Star Challenge winner will be determined by the lowest combined score.

SOIRÉE DE RÊVE POUR LE CLAN BERNIER

Une piste parfaite avait été préparée par le personnel d'entretien. De nombreux amateurs se sont donnés rendez-vous, ils n'ont pas été déçus car il y a eu beaucoup d'action dans toutes les catégories.

Les Sport-Compact: Deux pilotes méritent une disqualification pour pièce illégale

Une soirée presque parfaite pour Bruno Lafontaine (#51) , il a remporté la qualification ainsi que la finale de 15 tours. Une déception l'attendait lors de l'inspection d'après course. L'équipe technique de l'Autodrome Granby (Yvan Lacroix et Alain Pivin) ont découvert une pièce de suspension illégale sur son bolide ainsi que celui de Marc Dagenais (#24) qui avait terminé 2^e. La victoire a donc été accordée à Tommy Blais (#45).

Les Pro-Stock: Joey Ladouceur remporte la victoire.

Les séances de qualification ont été remportées par François Adam (#16), Joey Ladouceur (#92) et Stéphane Lebrun (#6). 28 voitures se sont présentées pour cette épreuve de la série Dirt ‘Mohawk Racing Part’. Une finale de 50 tours a été présentée. Dès le 2^e passage, on doit lancer le drapeau jaune, à la relance Alain Brochu (#24) s’empare de la position de commande, il pilote habituellement le bolide #12. M. Brochu était le pilote vedette de la soirée, il exposait sa voiture sous la grande estrade. Au 5^e passage, plusieurs bolides s'accrochent devant la foule, Dany Lapalme (#14R), Frédéric Lussier (#22), Louie Jackson ( #18), Joseph Zengerly (# 44), Mario Gagnon (#49) et Donald Provencher ( #55) sont les victimes de ce carambolage. Au 7^e passage, Stéphane Lebrun reprend la position de commande, lors du 11^e tour Alain Brochu prend à nouveau la tête de l'épreuve. Au 12^e tour, Stéphane Lebrun reprend son dû, une belle lutte sur la piste. Deux belles lignes de course permettent de belles remontées. Dès le 7^e passage, le directeur de course (Éric Baker) annonce que les tours seront comptés sur le jaune. Pas moins de 8 neutralisations ont été nécessaires avant de connaître le vainqueur de la soirée. Joey Ladouceur qui avait pris le départ de la 10^e position s'accapare de la 2^e position au 23^e tour et prend la position de commande au 27^e. Au fil d'arrivée , il était suivi par Stéphane Lebrun (#6) et Corey Wheeler ( #47). Notre pilote régulier qui a eu le meilleur résultat est François Adam (#16) qui a terminé en 4^e position devant Stéphane Larivière (#11).

Les Sportsman: Steve Bernier savoure sa quatrième victoire.

26 voitures étaient présentes pour cette épreuve de 25 tours. Daniel Rivard (#46), Marcel Larocque (#87) et Keven Beaucage (#45) ont été les plus rapides lors des séances de qualification. Dès le début de la course, Dany Gagné (#90) prend la pôle position, on doit déployer un premier drapeau jaune pour Steve Nadeau (#94) qui regagne les puits de ravitaillement. A la mi-course. Dany Gagné a une belle avance sur Mathieu Boisvert (#73) et Steve Bernier (#25). A deux tours de la fin, on a frôlé la catastrophe, le bolide #4 piloté par Samuel Desroches s'est immbolisé dans la courbe #4, les meneurs l'ont évité de justesse. A la relance, Steve Bernier est plus rapide, il file vers sa quatrième victoire de la saison sur le circuit de la rue Cowie. Le podium était complété par Dany Gagné ( pilote recrue cette saison) et Maxime Michon (#75). Mathieu Desjardins (#1M) a fait la plus belle remontée, il a pris le départ de la 14^e position pour terminer 5^e, il a confirmé qu'il sera régulier à l'Autodrome Granby jusqu'a la fin de la saison.

Les Modifié: Un beau peloton de 31 voitures en piste.

Les qualifications ont été l'affaire de Yan ' The Shark' Bussière (#21), Kayle Robidoux (#46) et François Bernier (#49). Dès que l'épreuve est lancée, François Bernier prend la tête du peloton. 8 neutralisations ont été nécessaires avant que l'on connaisse le grand gagnant de l'épreuve de 50 tours avec points de championnat. Le champion défendant sportsman ( Guy Ouellette, #07) a fait un retour en catégorie Modifié, il a frôlé le mur en début d'épreuve, il a dû retourner à sa remorque. Au 11^e passage, Bruno Lepage (#99) fait un 360 degré devant l'estrade et repart sans s'immobiliser. Au 14^e tour, le vétéran Claude Brouillard (#3) prend la position de commande, la piste est collante et on voit même des dépassements à 3 voitures de large. Au 22^epassage, François Bernier réussi à reprendre la position de tête devant Brouillard, Gino Clair (22J), Mario Clair (#22) et David Hébert (#1). C'est malheureux pour Claude Brouillard, une légère fumée s'échappe de son bolide et il semble se battre contre sa voiture dans les virages. Au drapeau à damier, Bernier avait une belle longueur d'avance sur David Hébert et Kayle Robidoux.

Eddie MacDonald and Joey Laquerre Take ACT Late Model Challenge Front Row at New Hampshire Motor Speedway

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ACT-081211

Loudon, NH – Eddie MacDonald of Rowley, Massachusetts and Joey Laquerre of East Montpelier, Vermont will sit on the front row in the first segment of the American Canadian Tour Late Model Challenge at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday, August 13. MacDonald earned a +14 and Laquerre picked up a +11 in ACT’s unique plus/minus handicap system.

Wayne Helliwell, Jr., Austin Theriault, and Donald Theetge will fill the 3^rd through 5^th positions. Brian Hoar, Alex Labbé, Tom Carey, Jr., Mark Lamberton and Donnie Lashua will complete the top ten starting positions.

Heat winners were Brian Hoar, Eddie MacDonald and Aaron Fellows. The Last Chance races were won by John Donahue and Patrick Laperle. The two ACT Late Model Tour provisionals were awarded to Brent Dragon and Rowland Robinson, Jr., while the two Série ACT Castrol provisionals were taken by Patrick Hamel and Marc-Andre Cliche.

The ACT Late Models completed a total of 100 laps of qualifying between three heats and two last chance events. A total of 55 cars attempted to qualify for the forty-four car field. Those not qualifying were Patrick Floyd, Patrick Cliche, Ken Baird, Tommy Ricker, Guy Caron, Yannick Tremblay, Jimmy Hebert, Matt Anderson, Ricky Roberts, Jimmy Linardy and Ben Lynch.

The forty-four car field is set for the first segment of the ACT All-Star Challenge at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, which will roll off at 10:30am on Saturday, August 13. The top 36 in the segment #1 finish will be inverted for segment #2. The losest combined score will claim the ACT Late Model Challenge win.

Montréal, le 12 août 2011 — Les promoteurs du NAPA Pièces d’auto 200 présenté par Dodge ont appris aujourd’hui que le toujours populaire Robbie Gordon serait à nouveau du départ lors du prochain NAPA Pièces d’auto 200 présenté par Dodge, les 19 et 20 août au circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. Le vétéran américain sera au volant de la Dodge Charger Speed Energy n^o 77 préparée pour Watkins Glen et Montréal. Pendant que Gordon confirmait une troisième présence chez nous en cinq ans, l’Australien Marcos Ambrose commettait pour la première fois sa présence lors de l’épreuve à laquelle il a déjà dit vouloir participer tant qu’il n’aura pas obtenu une victoire. En quatre présences à Montréal, le Tasmanien d’origine affiche un palmarès de deux poles, 2 Top-5 et 3 Top-10.

Montréal, August 12, 2011 — The event promoter learned today that fan favourite Robbie Gordon will enter the upcoming NAPA Auto Parts 200 presented by Dodge which will be held August 19-20 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. The American veteran will be driving the #77 Speed Energy Dodge Charger especially prepared for the Watkins Glen and Montréal events. While Gordon was confirming his third presence in the five years of the event, Australian Marcos Ambrose was committing to the event he swore he would compete in until he won it. In four Montréal starts, the Tasmanian driver has earned two poles and collected three Top-10 finishes, two of them in the Top-5.

« Le circuit Gilles-Villeneuve est un de mes tracés préférés. J’ai vraiment beaucoup de plaisir chaque fois à Montréal. J’aime la ville et l’on y rencontre parmi les meilleurs fans qui soient, de dire Ambrose qui pilotera la Ford Mustang no 9 de Richard Petty Motorsports. Ce sera un week-end fort chargé avec la course de série Nationwide de Montréal samedi avant de retourner au Michigan pour l’épreuve de Coupe Sprint dimanche après-midi. Ambrose évoque ensuite le nombre de tours passés en tête depuis 2007 à Montréal. « Plus que quiconque, dit-il, je suis venu près de gagner si souvent. Je sais comment maîtriser cette piste et je veux vraiment l’emporter cette fois. En Stanley Tools, j’ai un commanditaire formidable et je veux les remercier de me permettre d’aller courir à Montréal. » D’autre part, le sympathique coureur a aussi expliqué que Stanley versera la somme de 100 000 $ à la « Fondation Bon Départ » de Canadian Tire, destinée aux activités sportives des jeunes Canadiens.

Quant à Robbie Gordon qui en avait fait voir de toutes les couleurs à Ambrose lors du premier NAPA Pièces d’auto 200 présenté par Dodge en 2007, il s’est dit aussi fort heureux de revenir dans la métropole « Je suis allé courir au Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve à deux reprises et chaque fois, nous nous sommes retrouvés en position pour gagner. C’est une situation douce-amère pour nous. J’aime le circuit et les gens de Montréal. La piste me rappelle un tracé de ville. On y a du plaisir et je suis impatient d’y être, » a déclaré celui qui, à 42 ans, est d’une seule journée l’aîné du grand Michael Schumacher.

Cependant, contrairement au champion allemand, le Californien d’origine a touché à presque toutes les disciplines en sport automobile. Il compte en effet 441 départs en séries NASCAR (Sprint, Nationwide et camionnettes) et 118 en courses de type Indy, avec deux 5^e et une 4^e places aux 500 milles d’Indianapolis qu’il est venu très près de remporter en 1999. Adepte du off-road (vainqueur du Baja 1000 de 1987 et 1988, 3^e du Dakar 2009), Robbie a aussi flirté avec le succès aux 24 heures de Daytona et aux 12 heures de Sebring, en plus d’être en 1996 et 1997 du contingent de vedettes invitées à participer à la défunte série des champions IROC.

“Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is one of my favourite tracks, and I really enjoy going to Montreal. I like the city, and it has some of the best fans around,” said Ambrose who will be driving the Richard Petty Motorsport #9 Ford Mustang. “It’s going to be a tough weekend doing double duty, racing in Montreal Saturday and then flying back to Michigan to race Sunday afternoon.” Ambrose then talked about the times he dominated the races in Montréal since 2007. “I’ve come close to winning several times. I know how to get around the track and I really want to bring home the win this year. I’ve got a great sponsor in Stanley, and I appreciate them giving me the opportunity to race in Montreal.” Ambrose also explained that he would be racing for a worthy cause, as Stanley is donating $100,000 on his behalf to the Canadian Tire Jumpstart program that helps kids achieve their goals in sports programs across Canada.

As for Robbie Gordon, who has had more than his share of troubles with Ambrose in the inaugural 2007 NAPA Auto Parts 200 presented by Dodge, he was glad to be returning to Montréal. “Robby Gordon Motorsports has been to Circuit Gilles Villeneuve twice and we’ve been in a position to win both times. It’s definitely a bittersweet situation for us. I love the racetrack and the people in Montreal. The track reminds me of street circuits. It’s a lot of fun and I’m looking forward to going back,” said Gordon who at 42, is a day older than the great Michael Schumacher.

Unlike the German champion however, the California native has competed in all types of motorsports series. He has entered a combined 441 NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series races, 118 IndyCar-type races where he collected two Indy 500 fifth-place finishes and a fourth. He also came very close to winning the Big Event in 1999. An avid off-road enthusiast — he won the 1987 and the 1988 Baja 1000 and finished third in the 2009 Dakar Rally. Robbie came close to winning the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring, two of the great American classics. He was also selected to compete in the former IROC Championship Series in 1996 and 1997.

UN RETOUR EN PISTE POUR SYLVAIN LACOMBE

Pour les deux prochaines manches ACT-Castrol

Premier champion Castrol et auteur de quatorze succès sous cette bannière, le sympathique Sylvain Lacombe de Terrebonne sera de retour en pistes pour les deux prochaines épreuves de la série ACT-Castrol. Il va sans dire que cette nouvelle sera très bien perçue par les amateurs qui suivent régulièrement cette série.

Sylvain sera donc de la partie lors de la Can-Am 200, dixième manche qui se tiendra au circuit Ste-Croix/Riverside Speedway, le 27 août prochain et également, il sera du St-Eustache 300 qui se tiendra à ce complexe motorisé des Basses-Laurentides, le dimanche 18 septembre prochain.

Il y songeait depuis quelque temps, mais profitant d’un peu moins de travail et surtout de sa période de vacances, Sylvain et ses équipiers se sont affairés à préparer la voiture en prévision de ce retour. Après plusieurs heures dans le garage, ils ont effectué des essais concluants en début de semaine. C’est, faisant suite à ces résultats, que ce réputé pilote a annoncé sa participation à ces deux épreuves. Il était très clair que ces essais devaient être concluants, sans cela, il aurait rapidement abandonner le projet.

Au circuit Ste-Croix/Riverside Speedway, la dernière victoire de Lacombe qui est maintenant âgé de 49 ans, remonte au 24 juillet 2007. Cependant, plusieurs se souviendront également de son succès lors d’une épreuve de l’ACT en juin 2002. Une chose certaine, il a le talent pour rivaliser avec brio avec les meneurs de cette série ACT-Castrol, soit Karl Allard, Patrick Laperle, Donald Theetge qui jusqu’à maintenant est celui qui a connu le plus de succès sur le tracé de Lotbinière, et quelques autres dont Patrick Hamel et Dany Trépanier, les pilotes locaux.

Pro Stock Tour Headlines Atlantic CAT 250 Weekend at Scotia Speedworld!

August 12th/13th, 2011

The Atlantic CAT 250, Halifax's most anticipated stock car racing weekend of the season, returns to Scotia Speedworld August 12th and 13th, for two days of full throttle excitement! The two day event will attract over 5000 fans and the best stock car drivers from the Maritimes and abroad. Friday night the Dartmouth Dodge Sportsman will kick things off as they go head to head on the 3/10th mile oval for 100 laps. On Saturday race fans will see the stars of the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour battle for 250 grueling laps in the weekend's main feature, the Atlantic CAT 250, which has a posted purse of almost $50,000.00! Gates open at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, qualifying for the Dartmouth Dodge 100 will begin at 7:00 p.m. Gates open at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday with qualifying for the CAT 250 at 4:00 p.m. Weekend passes are on sale now at Ticket Atlantic.

Scotia Speedworld's premier weekly division -the Dartmouth Dodge Sportsman - will take centre stage on the Friday night with the Dartmouth Dodge Sportsman 100. Jeff Dillman (Middle Musquodoboit) is the current point leader in the division but it is Lakeside's Russell Smith Jr. that is on a hot streak. Smith in his #44 Dodge scored his second consecutive and fourth overall win of the season last Friday and will look to hold off over two dozen hungry drivers including defending Sportsman 100 titlist Colby Smith (Cape Sable Island). Scotia Speedworld regulars will be joined by part-time and visiting drivers for this race, which is the longest distance Sportsman race on the Scotia Speedworld schedule in 2011.

Saturday the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour will take to the oval for the weekend's main feature, the Atlantic CAT 250. Approximately 30 drivers will attempt to make the field but only 26 will have a shot at the prestigious CAT 250 title on Saturday night. The competition will be stout with an expected entry list that's a virtual who's who of short track racing and includes two former CAT 250 champions; Ben Rowe (Turner, ME) who has won this event twice in 2002 and 2003. 2000 winner John Flemming (Halifax, NS) will also be in the field. Flemming is the Tour's most recent winner and will be hoping to carry that momentum into the 250.

There are also valuable championship points on the line this weekend in Halifax. The CAT 250 marks round 9 of 12 for the Pro Stock Tour. Mathematically most of the full-time competitors still have a shot at the title however the top 6 have the most viable chance in this competitive series. Shawn Tucker (Fredericton, NB) continues to lead Wayne Smith (Timberlea, NS) by a slim 4 point margin. Darren MacKinnon (Charlottetown, PE) with his two wins this season is currently third, just 20 points behind Tucker. John Flemming sits solidly in fourth just 13 markers behind MacKinnon. Kent Vincent (Crapaud, PE) and Shawn Turple (Enfield, NS) are still within striking distance and a good showing at the CAT 250 could certainly put them right back in the chase!

Admission for the Dartmouth Dodge Sportsman 100 is $12.00 for adults, $2.00 for youth (8-15 years old); pit admission is $15.00. Admission for Saturday's Atlantic CAT 250 is $35.00 for adults; $5.00 for youth; pit admission is $40.00. Two day passes are also available - adults are $40.00, two day pit passes are $45.00. Children 7 and under are admitted for free all weekend. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Pits are restricted to those 16 and older. South Plattsburgh, NY – Airborne Speedway will conduct a 6 hour Endurance Race for properly equipped four-cylinder and six-cylinder cars Sunday, September 18 from 12-6 p.m. Teams must consist of a minimum of three drivers and a maximum of six drivers.

The car that completes the most laps wins and earns $1,500. Second-place pays $750. There is no minimum or maximum pit stop requirement.

Airborne promoter Mike Perrotte stressed that the event is not an Enduro. “It will be run as a race,” Perrotte said. “No unsafe or reckless driving will be tolerated.”

Rules are posted on the Airborne web site – www.airborneparkspeedway.com. Entry forms are available through the race track office on Broderick Road in South Plattsburgh, NY – 518-561-3208. Only the first 50 eligible entries will be allowed. Mike Criss of Plattsburgh filed the first entry.

All cars must be pre-approved. Inspection hours are Saturday, September 17 12-4 p.m. and Sunday, September 18, 9-11 a.m. A well-fabricated 4 point roll cage is required. DOT –approved street tires only. All glass other than windshield is to be removed. All driver restraint systems shall meet SFI specifications. A five-point harness is considered a minimum restraint system. Six or seven-point systems are highly recommended.

Airborne may elect to purchase any vehicle, minus the safety equipment, for $500.

Autodrome St-Eustache - On complétera finale Lucas Oil Sportsman en début de programme

Soirée Pavé-Brique Design / Projet X, samedi le 13 à l’Autodrome St-Eustache

Lorsque Dame Nature a fait des siennes lors de la finale Sportsman de samedi dernier, le tableau indicateur indiquait 20 tours de complétés lorsque le drapeau jaune a été déployé. C’est donc à ce stade que la course, soit au dernier tour complété sur le vert, que sera reprise et terminée exclusivement par les voitures qui étaient en piste au lancement initial de cette épreuve, en début de programme, ce samedi qui vient. On sait que les Aubin (26), Pelletier (66) et Bouvrette (38) formaient le premier groupe de trois lors de l’interruption de la course.

Pour les pilotes de la catégorie Sportsman, ils auront également à participer à la finale prévue pour cette soirée du 13 août, soit 75 tours dans laquelle quelques pilotes absents la semaine dernière en raison de leur participation au Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières devraient être de retour en piste. Parmi ceux-ci, Isabelle Tremblay dont sa participation est annoncée sur son calendrier et sur le communiqué de presse de Isa Racing Team de cette semaine, et Dave Coursol dont on espère un retour en piste avec la Carquest #94 pour la présentation de cette soirée Pavé Briques Design / Projet X.

On sait que les partenaires de cette soirée, Pavé Briques Design est un des commanditaires de l’équipe 422 de Marc-Antoine Demers en Sportsman et Sport Compactes Lucas Oil et que Projet X est le fournisseur du système audio-visuel de l’Autodrome St-Eustache.

Un autre pilote qui devrait entamer sa saison 2011, Claude Charest sera en piste jeudi pour des essais avec la voiture #71. Si ceux-ci sont concluants, la voiture sera de la course de samedi.

Les nombreux pilotes de la catégorie Sport-Compactes Lucas Oil seront également en piste pour une autre étape de leur championnat dominé par Steve Ladouceur (31) suivi de près par Marc-Antoine Demers (422).

Également de la partie, les engagés de la populaire division Challenge Meilleur Ramoneur / Lacroix Tuning tenteront de mettre fin à la domination de Louis A. Dupuis (95), qui compte cinq victoires cette saison.

La conclusion des 55 tours restants de la course Sportsman du dernier programme nécessitant plus de 45 minutes dans l’horaire de ce programme, les pilotes de la catégorie Production devront prendre congé pour ce programme du 13 août.

Un événement de l’ASE Lapping Club précédera le programme de stock-car. Les puits ouvriront donc à 17 h 30, et le signal du premier départ – le dénouement de la finale Sportsman - sera donné à 19 h 30.
