STECKLY ADDS TO POINTS LEAD AT MONTREAL

MONTREAL, QUEBEC, Monday, August 22, 2011: Scott Steckly driver of the 22 Racing/Canadian Tire Dodge started the NAPA AUTOPRO 100 in ninth and crossed the finish line 23 laps later in seventh.

Practice was a wash on Thursday afternoon. Just as the teams headed onto the track, rain began to fall.  The No. 22 Canadian Tire driver waited on pit road for sky to clear. Unfortunately the track didn’t dry completely by the end of the session so 19th position was where they ended up.

 

For qualifying on Friday, the cars were sent out in two groups, according to their practice times, and each group was given twenty-five minutes to turn laps from which their quickest time would be used to determine starting position. Steckly would lay down the ninth quickest lap overall with a time of 107.481 and an average speed of 90.770 miles per hour.

Before the race Steckly commented that, “We didn’t get any laps in under practice due to the wet conditions and didn’t really know what the car was going to be like in qualifying. So we are a little disappointed with our qualifying position.”

Steckly would start the NAPA AUTOPRO 100 in ninth position on the inside of row five. With the drop of the green flag, he took the opportunity and fell into line in tenth as the field rounded turn one.

When the first caution came out on lap six, Steckly had dropped two positions and was running in 12th. The 22 Racing/Canadian Tire Dodge maintained 12th on the restart, but another caution soon followed and Steckly made no mistake picking up three positions before making his way into turn one.

With six laps to go, Steckly made his way to seventh and was gaining on J. R. Fitzpatrick who was running in sixth.  Steckly was hoping for another caution to tighten the field so he could pick up a few more positions on the restart, but the caution never came and Steckly crossed the finish line in seventh place.

After the race Steckly commented, “We came here and accomplished what we wanted to, stayed out of trouble and got a top ten finish. We even increased our points lead.  I’m very proud of everyone on the Canadian Tire team, they worked hard to give me a good car and we are looking forward to the next three ovals as we hope to keep the momentum going.”

The NAPA AUTOPRO 100 can be seen in its entirety on TSN on Sunday August 21 at midnight and Monday August 22 at 1:30 p.m.  TSN2 will also air the event on Sunday August 21 at 6:30 p.m.

Steckly and the 22/Racing Canadian Tire team are having a great season.  The No. 22 team has added to their points lead and has two wins and seven top five finishes with 3 events left in the 2011 season. The next stop for Steckly and the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series will be on September 10 when the teams head to Barrie Speedway for the Wild Wing 300 presented by Independent Electric.

DILLEY FINISHES TWENTY THIRD AT CIRCUIT GILLES VILLENEUVE

MONTREAL, QUEBEC, Monday August 22, 2011: Mark Dilley driver of the No. 9 Rheem/Exide/PartSource/Farwell Racing Dodge finished a disappointing 23 in the 37 car field on Saturday at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

In practice, it started to rain just as the field took to the track and NASCAR brought the 37 car field to pit road to allow the teams to prepare the cars for the wet track conditions.  The rain quit with five minutes left in the practice session and Dilley was able to lay down a quick lap posting the ninth quickest time. The team made several adjustments to get the car where they wanted it, and after practice Dilley commented, “Man we have a fast car, it feels really good and with the changes I think we can get more out of it.”

 

For qualifying, the cars were sent out in two groups, according to their practice times, and each group was given twenty-five minutes to tour the track and post their best times. Dilley was 15th quickest posting a time of 1:08.216 and an average speed of 90.153 miles per hour. 

Before the race Dilley commented that, “The car wasn’t too bad for practice, we didn’t want to push it too hard in the rain, but wanted to see what it would be like if we had to race under similar conditions. Fortunately the sun was shining for qualifying and we got some laps under our belt.”

Dilley would start the NAPA AUTOPRO 100 in 15th on the inside of row eight and with the drop of the green flag settled into 16th. 

Twelve laps in and Dilley was running in 13th when two cars ahead of him made contact and spun out.  This forced everyone to check up and Dilley was hit hard on the left rear wheel when the car behind him didn’t get stopped in time.  No caution came out as everyone was able to continue, but Dilley thought he had broken an axle.  He then made his way to pit road to have the crew check it out.   The team made short work of repairs and Dilley was back on track without losing a lap but was at the tail end of the 37 car field.

Dilley had made his way back into the top 20 with five laps to go, when the No. 9 Rheem/Exide Dodge was spun out by a lapped car.  Again, there was no caution and Dilley lost several spots before he was able to rejoin the field.   Dilley would make up a few more positions before the checkered flag, but ultimately finished 23rd.

After the race Dilley commented, “We just had some bad luck again, we got tangled up in someone else’s mess and had to come to pit road because I thought we may have broken an axle. It was just a rear end locker and we were lucky when the caution came out and we were able to catch up to the field.  Just when we were making up some ground we got hit again it and ruined any chance we had for a good finish. I’m looking forward to the next three ovals, I’ve won on all of those tracks and hopefully we can put on a good show for fans and sponsors.”

The NAPA AUTOPRO 100 can be seen in its entirety on TSN on Sunday August 21 at midnight and Monday August 22 at 1:30 p.m.  TSN2 will also air the event on Sunday August 21 at 6:30 p.m.

Dilley is currently seventh in the NASCAR point standings. The next stop for Dilley and the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series will be on September 10th at Barrie Speedway for the Wild Wing 300 presented by Independent Electric.

Micks Maneuvres Circuit Gilles Villeneuve to Finish Second

MONTREAL, QUEBEC, Monday August 22, 2011: Kerry Micks driver of the No. 02 Dickies/Beyond Digital Imaging Ford Fusion notched another podium finish at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve with a second place finish.

Just as the teams were taking to the track Thursday for their one hour practice session, the skies opened up and it started to rain.  NASCAR brought the field to pit road so the teams could get the cars ready for the wet track conditions. Micks however, knows his way around Circuit Gilles Villeneuve taking the win in 2007, and didn’t let a little rain stop him from laying down some quick laps and posting the second quickest time in practice. 

 

On Friday afternoon for qualifying, the sun was shining and Micks didn’t hold back as he manoeuvred the 2.709 mile road course in a time of 105.985 with an average speed of over 92 miles per hour, a time that would see him line up in third place on the starting grid.

Micks started the NAPA AUTOPRO 100 on inside of row two and after taking the green flag followed the first place car of Andrew Ranger No. 27 into turn one taking the second position from the No. 12 of Alex Tagliani.  Micks was able to stay close to the No. 27 and out braked him heading into turn three but just couldn’t make the move on Ranger.  On lap 8, the two leaders were battling it out with each of them trying to out-brake the other, when they both shot through the grass missing the S-turn.  The two drivers were able to hold onto their cars and carried on running one-two.

The third caution came out on lap 15 and Micks was grateful as the gauges in the No. 02 Ford Fusion indicated Micks had no oil pressure. The #02 Ford driver was running in second and decided not to come to pit road to have the crew check the car and took the green flag again on lap 16.

On the restart Micks was able to maintain the second place position while the No. 11 of Jason Bowles was all over the back bumper of the Dickies/Beyond Digital Imaging Ford Fusion, allowing the leader, Andrew Ranger, to put some distance between himself and Micks.  With three laps to go Bowles made a move on Micks to take over the second position, but with 2 laps to go Micks would take the second position back from the No. 11 and would hold him off to cross the finish line in second place.

After the race Micks was all smiles as he said, “We were having oil pressure problems with the car, and I was doing everything I could, playing with the breakers and flipping switches. The cautions really helped us out today, but the car itself was amazing and if it wasn’t for the problem with our oil pressure Ranger would have had some competition. When we were running with him on the restarts we could out brake him.”

The NAPA AUTOPRO 100 can be seen in its entirety on TSN on Sunday August 21 at midnight and Monday August 22 at 1:30 p.m.  TSN2 will also air the event on Sunday August 21 at 6:30 p.m.

Micks maintained fifth in the NASCAR point standings and the next stop for Micks and the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series will be on September 10 at Barrie Speedway for the Wild Wing 300 presented by Independent Electric.  Do not forget to go to Dickies.ca before the race and pick the winners in the Dickies Race to Win Challenge for a chance to win some great prizes.

LOUIS-PHILIPPE DUMOULIN TERMINE AVEC BRIO SA PREMIÈRE COURSE NATIONWIDE

Montréal, le 21 août 2011 - Une première course fort mouvementée en série Nationwide de NASCAR pour le plus jeune des frères Dumoulin, qui rallie l’arrivée malgré de nombreux ennuis à Montréal au Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve (samedi 20 août).

LOUIS-PHILIPPE DUMOULIN FINISHES HIS FIRST NATIONWIDE RACE WITH VERVE

 Montreal, August 21st, 2011 – It was an eventful first NASCAR Nationwide race for the youngest of the Dumoulin brothers, Louis-Philippe,  that managed to see the chequered flag despite several issues on Montreal’s Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve.

 

 Un changement de moteur a empêché Louis-Philippe Dumoulin à prendre part à la séance de qualification de vendredi. Toutefois, peu de temps avant le drapeau vert, la voiture n°52 Hairfax/DaVinci de l’équipe Means Motorsports était sur la ligne de départ en 41e position.

 Louis-Philippe Dumoulin a su tirer son épingle du jeu, éviter les ennuis et acquérir de l’expérience en série Nationwide alors que les accidents et neutralisations se sont multipliés en course.

 Le bris de deux crics hydrauliques dans les puits a occasionné des difficultés lors du changement des pneumatiques, forçant Louis-Philippe à s’arrêter à sept occasions. C’était sans compter une panne de carburant qui l’a certainement privé, dans les circonstances, d’un meilleur résultat.

 « Nous souhaitons obtenir au minimum un top-20 voire même un top-15, mais nos nombreux arrêts m’ont ralenti et m’ont fait perdre des positions », a expliqué Louis-Philippe Dumoulin. « Je suis satisfait de ma première expérience en Nationwide et cela augure bien pour la suite, surtout que l’équipe Means Motorsport est ravie de ma performance », a-t-il ajouté.

 Louis-Philippe Dumoulin, instructeur de pilotage, repart à la maison à Trois-Rivières, satisfait d’avoir terminé sa première course malgré les multiples avaries (28e place). Il tient à remercier tous ceux qui ont rendu possible cette première expérience en série Nationwide.

 An engine change after testing on Friday stopped him from participating in the qualifying session later in the day, but not long before the race was green flagged, the No. 52 Hairfax/Da Vinci car of Team Means Motorsports was lined up in its 41st position on the grid.

 Louis-Philippe Dumoulin avoided the many collisions and incidents that caused numerous caution flags and restarts in the race and cumulated a priceless experience in a Nationwide car.

 The loss of two broken hydraulic jacks in the pits made tire changing a challenge for the team and Louis-Philippe ultimately had to stop on seven occasions. He also ran out of gas by the end of the race, depriving him of what would have certainly been a great result in the circumstances.

 “We were confident to obtain at least at top-20 and even a top-15, but our many pit stops slowed us down and made me lose track positions,” explained Louis-Philippe Dumoulin. “I am satisfied with this first experience in the Nationwide series and the future is looking bright since the team is very happy with my performance,” he added.

 Louis-Philippe Dumoulin, professional racing instructor, returns home to Trois-Rivières with the satisfaction of having completed his first race despite several bumps on the way. He wishes to thank everyone that has made possible this first experience in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.

MARCOS AMBROSE SCORES A WIN AT MONTREAL!




L'australien Marcos Ambrose remporte le NAPA 200 au Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, après avoir fait toute une remontée suite à son accrochage avec le favori de la foule Jacques Villeneuve. Cette victoire est la deuxième pour Ambrose, il a remportéla semaine dernière à Watkin's glen.

Australian driver Marcos Ambrose wins the NAPA 200 at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, after coming back from behind when he tangled with hometown favorite Jacques Villeneuve. This is Ambrose's second win in as many weeks, he won the at the Glen last week.





Le mal-aimé du Québec Alexandre Tagliani a terminé deuxième.

Micheal McDowell, Steven Wallace et JR Fitzpatrick complètent le top 5.

Jacques Villeneuve a mené une grande partie de la course. Un manœuvre risqué au Senna, même qualifié de vengeance par certains, a vue Villeneuve s'accrocher avec Ambrose.

Le grand perdant a été Villeneuve qui a perdu deux tours dans les puits pour mécaniser le tout. Il a terminé au 27e rang.

LP Dumoulin a ramené la voiture en 28e place en un morceau.

Maryeve Dufault a terminé en 30e place avec quelques têtes-à-queue et de multiples visites aux puits.

Jacques Vlleneuve led a long portion of the race. A move, called payback by some, saw him make contact with Ambrose.

The big looser in the incident is Villeneuve, he lost two laps in the pits to get the car fixed. He finished 27th.

LP Dumoulin finished 28th and brought the car home in one piece.

Maryeve Dufault finished in 30th position with several spins and multiple visits in the pits.







Peu de temps après la mi-course, Carpentier s'accrochait avec Steven Wallace lors d'une relance. Quelques tours plus tard, Carpentier a immobilisé sa voiture en bordure de piste. Il est crédité en 32e place.

DJ Kennington qui faisait un start-and-park a terminé en 40e place.

Andrew Ranger, le vainqueur en NASCAR Canadian Tire, quand a lui, une course à oublier, il a terminé 41e avec un 2e moteur de sauté en deux jours.

A little ways after mid-race, Carpentier got spun out by Steven Wallance moments after a restart. A couple laps later, Carpentier stopped trackside. He finished 32nd.

DJ Kennington who was on a start-and-park game plan finished 40th.

As for Andrew Ranger, the NASCAR Canadian Tire even winner, a race to forget. He finished 41st with a second blown engine in two days.

RANGER MÈNE D'UN BOUT À L'AUTRE! [UPDATED]










Montreal – 2011-08-20 – Le pilote de Roxton Pound, Andrew Ranger, a remporté un troisième NAPA 100 sur le circuit Gilles-Villeneuve en menant chacun des 23 tours de l’épreuve et avec une avance de plus de 2 secondes.

Montreal – 2011-08-20 – Roxton Pound driver, Andrew Ranger convincingly won a third NAPA 100 on Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, leading all 23 laps of the event and with a margin of 2 seconds over his closest rival.








 

Ranger n’a eu de peine à distancer à chacune relances ses adversaires.  Si en début d’épreuve plusieurs s’attendaient à un duel Ranger – Alexandre Tagliani, ce dernier a vite rétrogradé en faveur de Kerry Micks et Jason Bowles.  « Tag » terminra au 5e rang juste derrière Jeff Lapcevich.

Ranger had no problems dealing with his competitors at each of the restarts.  If before the race everyone expected a Ranger – Tagliani battle on the track, “Tag” quickly fell back behind Kerry Micks and Jason Bowles and finished fifth behind Jeff Lapcevich.







 

Pendant que Ranger se sauvait en tête, Micks, Bowles et Tag s’offraient une belle lutte.  À un moment donné Tag avait même repris la 2e place, mais une neutralisation a forcé la reprise au tour précédent.

 

Les frères Dumoulin, JF Dumoulin et LP Dumoulin, ont terminé respectivement 9e et 10e.

While Ranger was running away in the lead, Micks, Bowles and Tag were battling for position.  At one point Tag recovered his 2nd place position, but a quick yellow force a restart using the previous lap’s running order.

 

The Dumoulin brothers, JF Dumoulin and LP Dumoulin, respectively finished 9th and 10th.







 

Donald Theetge a terminé 17e après s’être élancé du fond de la grille après avoir mécanisé la voiture après les qualifications d’hier.  Avant l’épreuve « Don » nous disait que la tâche serait difficile car, bon nombre de pilote dans cette série sont des « professionnels » et nous offrirons toute une compétition.  Mission accomplie pour l’habitué du stock car sur oval.

 

Elie Arseneau a terminé 19e; Martin Roy 21e; Sébastien Dussault 24e; Derek White 25e; Michel Pilon 26e; Patrice Brisebois 28e; Isabelle Tremblay 29e; Hugo Vannini 30e; Ray Courtemanche Jr 36e;

Donald Theetge finished 17th after taking the start at the rear of the field for having worked on his car after yesterday’s qualifying.  Before the race “Don” told us that his task to get to the front would be a difficult one since a majority of drivers are “professionals” and will give us a lot of competition to contend with.  Mission accomplished for the oval stock car specialist.

Montréal, le 20 août 2011 - Jean-François et Louis-Philippe Dumoulin ont terminé respectivement en neuvième et dixième places, ce samedi, à l’épreuve de la série NASCAR Canadian Tire en marge du NAPA 200 de Montréal. Les deux pilotes et instructeurs professionnels concluent ainsi leur saison sur les circuits routiers de la série avec un top 10 chacun.

 THE TWO DUMOULIN CARS IN THE TOP-10

Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve – NASCAR Canadian Tire Series

 Montreal, August 20th, 2011 – Jean-François and Louis-Philippe Dumoulin completed the NASCAR Canadian Tire race held on Saturday during Montreal’s NAPA 200 weekend in ninth and tenth place respectively. This means the two drivers and professional race instructors both conclude their 2011 season on road courses on a top-10.

 

Trois neutralisations ont ponctué cette course sur le mythique circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. Le pilote de Roxton Pond Andrew Ranger a mené l’épreuve de bout en bout.

Les deux Trifluviens se sont battus avec les meneurs de la série tout au long des 23 tours de l’épreuve, ayant pris le départ en 7e et 8e places.

«J’ai éprouvé des ennuis avec le carburateur, ce qui fait en sorte que les virages lents et les relances étaient plus difficiles», souligne Jean-François Dumoulin, qui était au volant de la voiture n°04 Bellemare/Somavrac.

«J’avais une très bonne voiture. J’ai eu des pépins aux relances lorsque j’étais positionné à l’extérieur dans le virage Senna. On m’a accroché à l’arrière de ma voiture Maskimo/Protection Incendie MCI n°47, ce qui a causé des problèmes d’alignement sur mon bolide», indique Louis-Philippe Dumoulin, qui a signé deux top cinq et deux top 10 en cinq épreuves.

Après avoir participé à cinq courses, l’équipe Dumoulin Compétition conclut ses activités cette saison sur les circuits routiers de la série NASCAR Canadian Tire. Louis-Philippe et Jean-François Dumoulin tiennent à remercier tous les partenaires, collaborateurs, amis et fans pour leur continuel support tout au long de l’été.

Three cautions were waved during this race at the mythic Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. Roxton Pond driver Andrew Ranger led the race from start to finish.

“I had problems with the carburator and that made the slower turns and the restarts very difficult,” explained Jean-François Dumoulin who was driving the No. 04 Bellemare/Somavrac car.

“I had a very good car. I had issues at the restarts when I was positioned at the outside of the Sennas. Someone bumped into my No. 47 Maskimo/Protection Incendie MCI car which caused alignment problems,” explained Louis-Philippe Dumoulin that compiled two top-five and two top-10 in five events in 2011.

After participating in five races, Team Dumoulin Competition concludes its activities of this season on the road courses in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. Louis-Philippe and Jean-François Dumoulin want to thank all their partners, collaborators, friends and fans for their constant support throughout the summer.
