ACT ANNOUNCES FORD RACING BLUE OVAL CUP TEAM CHALLENGE

Waterbury, VT – Ford Racing and the American Canadian Tour (ACT) recently announced an aggressive $35,000.00 contingency program in 2010 for those teams that have supported the Ford-powered S347JR ACT crate engine program.

ACT has announced the criteria for the program:

Ford teams must be registered and approved with ACT office
Competing teams must be 100% ACT legal
Butler MacMaster Engine seals must be present and not tampered with
Individual tracks must validate official finishes with ACT throughout the season
Any violation of the sealed Ford engine program will result in loss of all points and disqualification from the Ford contingency program for the remainder of the season
Any track adjustments to the Ford rules must be approved by ACT for continued involvement in the 2010 contingency program
Rules and criteria are subject to change in the interest of competition

(A season-long point program encompassing all Ford participants throughout the ACT Tour, ACT Castrol Canadian Series, and all ACT affiliate weekly tracks. An end-of-season point tally will reward Ford-powered competitors finishing in the top 10 as follows):

1^st place- $3000 6^th place- $ 600

2^nd place- $1500 7^th place- $ 500

3^rd place- $1000 8^th place- $ 400

4^th place- $ 800 9^th place- $ 300

5^th place- $ 700 10^th place- $ 200

A total of 43 ACT events will be eligible for contingency during the 2010 race season. All ACT affiliate weekly programs will also be eligible, including: Thunder Road in Barre, VT; Lee USA in Lee, NH; White Mountain Motorsport Park in Lincoln, NH; Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, ME; Seekonk Speedway in Seekonk, MA; Waterford Speedbowl, in Waterford, CT; Twin State Speedway in Claremont, NH; Kawartha Speedway in Peterborough, ON; and Capital City Speedway in Ottawa, ON. Other tracks may be added and numbers of events are subject to change.

Terms and Conditions

Points will be issued to registered Owner. (Driver will be considered owner unless registration with ACT indicates otherwise)

Any combination of twenty (20) touring events and/or weekly events [there will be no maximum of event limits for eligibility in final point standings] will be used to determine the final standings in the Ford Racing Blue Oval Cup Challenge year-end standings. All teams will be scored on a total of the best 20 events regardless of number of events entered.
Team will be given maximum 12 points if they register and attempt to qualify but fail to compete in the main event.
Team will be issued 16 points for each event under the 20 race requirement they fail to attend. Example: A team attends 18 events. They receive 16 points for two events under 20, making their penalty 32.
Lowest point total wins overall Blue Oval Challenge for events and season long standings.

One point (1) will be given for a win, two (2) points will be given for second, three (3) points for third…etc.
All Ford team competitors will receive points in all the feature events they participate in to a maximum total of twelve (12) points per event, regardless of number of entrants in any single event (tour or weekly). Example: a team that competes in a field of 24 cars and finishes 18^th will receive only 12 points
Lowest number of points for twenty completed events will determine the year-end standings regardless of number of events entered.
After twenty events completed, worst event will be eliminated and replaced by a more favorable finish
In the event of ties, first place will be determined by the competitor with the best finishes in their point-counting eligible events (up to twenty)…most wins, most seconds, most thirds..etc.
Positional ties for second through tenth will divide the position money equally

The first eligible event for the Ford Racing team members will be the ACT season opener on April 18, 2010 at the Lee USA Speedway in Lee, NH with the annual running of the Governor’s Cup 150. Cris Michaud, who gave Ford racing their first win at Thunder Road Speedbowl in Barre, VT is a former winner of the Lee Governor’s Cup 150 and is expected to enter and will attempt to give Ford their first ever ACT US Tour event win. This will also be the first opportunity to lock in an invitation to the ACT Invitational II at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday, September 18, 2010.

25th ACT SEASON SEES NEAR RECORD FULL SEASON ENTRY LIST

Waterbury, VT – The American Canadian Tour (ACT) will celebrate 25 years of Championship Stock Car Racing with one of its largest number of pre-season full season entered teams. The balance of veteran champions and new teams joining the US touring division represents five New England states and two provinces of Canada. ACT statistician Nick Bigelow said, “I have reviewed past seasons and this looks like the most diverse and best count ACT has had in the past half dozen seasons.”

A fourteen race schedule will carry teams from the shores of Connecticut at the historic Waterford Speedbowl to new tracks located as far north as Quebec City, (the newly renovated 5/8^th mile Riverside Speedway in Ste-Croix), and west to the newly paved 4/10^th mile Albany Saratoga Speedway in Malta, NY, just outside the New York capital city.

Veteran title chaser Brent Dragon from Milton, VT said, “This is a great schedule for those of us that like touring. New tracks are always interesting and with two new tracks on the schedule just undergoing renovations and paving (Albany-Saratoga and Riverside-Ste Croix), along with my favorite recently renovated half mile Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh, NY, I hope this is the year I can finally win an ACT Championship.”

“Dragon has been a perennial top three finisher on the tour for many years, and feels with the longer tracks on the 2010 schedule, he has just gotten the edge he might need to finally win the title. Brent Dragon has completed the most races of any driver in the 18 year history of the ACT Late Model division,” continued Bigelow.

Joining the list of likely contenders is defending Champion Brian Hoar from Williston, VT. Hoar found his magic championship form when he joined Rick Paya’s RPM Engines team in 2009. Strong performances to end the season brought Hoar his 6^th ACT Championship title. Hoar clearly is the favorite to beat in 2010.

Other strong teams who have full season entries are Scott Payea, led by co-owner and veteran crew chief, Chris Companion. Joey Polewarczyk (‘Pole’) from Hudson, NH is primed and eager to take a run for the ACT title. Now a seasoned competitor of ACT touring and the youngest of the new breed of racers, Joey ‘Pole’ has switched to Ford power plants for the 2010 campaign. Turner, Maine veteran Glen Luce, beginning his third year of ACT Tour racing, will join ‘Pole’ on the Blue Oval Ford team. Brian Craig will crew chief the Luce effort. “Now that we have been around the ACT circuit for a couple years, I think we have a pretty good chance to contend for the title. It was a challenging learning curve for our team getting used to the different tracks, and it sure was a lot different than running sprint races on Saturday night at our home track Oxford Plains Speedway, but I am hoping that with our new Ford program we will have some success,” said Luce.

One of the early favorites to challenge for the 2010 ACT title is Graniteville, Vermont’s John Donahue. Donahue was the most successful racer during the last third of the 2009 season, winning races at White Mountain Motorsport Park, and realizing a lifelong dream of winning the Chittenden Milk Bowl at Barre, Vermont’s Thunder Road. That momentum certainly makes the Kendall Roberts-Dale Shaw led team a threat to win the 2010 title.

Joining the list of filed entries includes top veteran runners such as New Hampshire’s Randy Potter, Vermonters Jamie Fisher and Eric Chase, and Maine’s Ricky Rolfe. Tyler Cahoon and Pete Potvin round out some returning young stars that completed the entire 2009 season.

Other veterans and former champions: legendary and ageless Joey Laquerre, from Barre, VT will drive a Seth Holbrook prepared car. Former White Mountain Motorsport Park Champion Quinney Welch, from Lancaster, NH has also entered the full schedule of events for the 2010 season.

The highly anticipated season will also see the return of seven-time ACT Champion JP Cyr of Milton, VT in the father/son team race car of Gary and Kyle Caron. Richard Green will be fielding two cars with veterans Joey Becker and former Airborne Champion Mark Lamberton behind the wheels.

Two teams will travel from Canada to tackle the 2010 ACT US season. 2009 Série ACT Castrol Champion Donald Theetge has submitted his full season entry to run on the American-based Tour. Also making a return is former ACT Pro Stock Tour competitor Derek Lynch. Lynch, the winner of the Oxford 250 in 1994 has decades of experience. He has competed previously in the NASCAR North/Busch East Series and for the past two years has raced in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series throughout Canada. He also is the track manager of the Kawartha Speedway outside Peterborough, ON, Canada.

Some new faces running their first full ACT Tour seasons are multi-time Oxford Plains Speedway Champion Travis Adams, Jeff Zuidema with Thompson Int’l Speedway Championships in his portfolio, and Thunder Road regular and former Sportsman Champion at both Thunder Road and Airborne Speedway, Craig Bushey.

Massachusetts racers Jimmy ‘Scruffy’ Linardy and Mark Hudson; along with Vermonter David Paya have sent in full season entries. Over 30 teams are expected to start the season as full time entrants, a record number of teams to begin the new campaign.

The Rookie of the Year battle has two of the most talented young Late Model stars in the region with 17 year-old Beech Ridge racer Bradley Babb from Maine driving the Sallie Bolduc machine. Babb will have former ACT Pro Stock driver and father, Bobby Babb, crew chief the car. Another young star of the Twin State Speedway battles, from the Granite State, Chris Riendeau, is going to compete for the ACT Rookie of the Year honors on a full time basis as well.

The 2010 ACT Tour season kicks off on Sunday, April 18 at Lee USA Speedway in Lee, NH with the NH Governor’s Cup 150. The winner will be the first to receive an invitation for the second annual ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway to be held on Saturday, September 18^th during the first weekend of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Chase for the Championship.

En 2010, Alain Bergeron en est à sa onzième saison au volant d’un Sprint Car. Ces bolides sont considérés parmi les voitures de course les plus rapides au monde. Lors de la saison 2006, Bergeron fut couronné grand champion de la série Empire Super Sprints. Ce titre de Champion suivait une très bonne saison 2005, alors qu'il terminait la campagne au cinquième rang du classement général et était déclaré champion du ‘Gater Racing News Lap Leader Award’.

In 2010, Alain Bergeron is in his 11th season at the wheel of a full Sprint Car. Those racing machines are among the fastest in the world.

In 2006, the Saint-Pie native was crowned the 2006 ESS tour champion after a very good 2005 year as he finished in fifth place in the point standing and he had been champion of the ‘Gater Racing News Lap Leader Award’

Bergeron fut le premier Canadien à remporter une victoire en Sprint, avec les ESS. En 2001, à sa deuxième campagne seulement au volant d'un Sprint Car, il fut le pilote de la série avec le plus de victoires, soit trois. On sait que cette catégorie de voitures de course est un château fort des pilotes américains. Une saison 2010 explosive à prévoir et pleins de nouveautés pour la Série SS Québec.

C’est hier après-midi que c’est tenue à Québec la dernière réunion de la Série Superportsman Québec en prévision de la Série 2010. Plus de 30 pilotes étaient présent.

En ouverture de réunion, le promoteur M. André Poulin a dévoilé aux pilotes que l’annonce du commanditaire principale se ferait entre le 21 et le 28 mars 2010.

Les pilotes ont accueillis avec beaucoup d’optimiste la venue du système MY LAPS de marquage électronique qui sera utilisé dans la Série en 2010. Une autre nouveauté est que les pilotes vont pouvoir utilisés en 2010 le systême de Radio Two-Way.

La Série sera présente à 2 grands rassemblements avec un kiosque avec 6 voitures sur place et nous seront aussi présents au Premier Salon Sport Moteur et Rock qui se tiendra le 30 avril, 1 et 2 mai à l’Arena de Beauceville.

Un attrait important en 2010 sera la venue de deux divisions en classe Supersportsman, une division INTERMÉDIAIRE qui regroupera les recrues, pilotes de 2^ième année dans la Série et quelques pilotes sporadiques qui permettront un meilleur dévellopement de ceux-ci. La division ÉLITE quand a elle regroupera les vétérans de la Série. Les 2 divisions auront leur championnat séparé. Autre chose importante est que les 3 pilotes qui monteront sur le podium en INTERMÉDIAIRE auront une passe gratuite pour la finale ÉLITE le même soir.

Présentement, 33 pilotes sont déjà accrédités pour 2010 et quelques autres devraient s’y ajoutés d’ici le 15 mars.

Un calendrier excitant :

Le calendrier de la Série sera des plus excitants, des épreuves combinées au Riverside Speedway Ste-Croix avec les 2 divisions en même temps sur la piste et une épreuve de 150 tours avec 2 étapes de 76 et 74 tours positions inversées des pilotes sur le tour du meneurs. De plus lors de la course du 4 septembre 2010, les amateurs pourront vivre une période de qualification avec des temps chronométrés sur une période de 10 minutes par divisions sous la même formule de qualification que la « « FORMULE UN » ».

À l’Autodrome Chaudière, les 2 divisions seront séparées. Nous pourrons vivre lors de la course du 16 juillet une soirée des plus enlevantes avec une épreuve de 100 tours par segment en division ÉLITE. 2 épreuves de 33 tours et un 34 tour pour compléter avec position inversé des pilotes sur le tour du meneur, Le 29 août, nous auront droit à la Course des Champions qui regroupera 16 voitures lors du SHOW DOWN. Les pilotes obtiendront une passe gratuite pour cette course avec une victoire en division ÉLITE et les 2 meilleurs au classement de la division INTERMÉDIAIRE auront une place assurée. Le peloton de 16 voitures sera complété par un choix du public par vote, un choix du promoteur de l’Autodrome Chaudière et les meilleurs au classement de la division ÉLITE qui n’auront pas obtenu de damier dans les 10 premières courses pour se rendre à 16 pilotes.

Notre visite à l’Autodrome Montmagny en sera un à remarquer, lors de la visite du 12 et 13 juin, les pilotes de la Série vivront pleins e nouveautés. Le samedi, ils auront droit àdes qualifications dans les 2 divisions, un coucours de PIT STOP équipe contre équipe sous la forme de tournoi. Une finale enlevante en division INTERMÉDIAIRE de 50 tours qui permettra aux 5 premiers de ce qualifiés pour le 150 tours Canadian TIRE du dimanche. Un Tailgate PARTY le samedi soir avec feux de joie, feux artifice et plein autres choses. Le dimanche, il y aura le 150 tours Canadian Tire avec un arrêt gaz au 65^ième tours pour tous sans modification permise sur la voiture et une nouveauté, un arrêt obligatoire au choix de l’équipe pendant le 150 tours pour changer 2 pneus obligatoirement avec modification permise à la voiture.

Le 31 juillet, la Série fera un arrêt au Lac St-Jean à la piste de St-Félicien lors d’une épreuve de 2 fois 35 tours position inversé en INTERMÉDIAIRE et 100 en ÉLITE.

On sait que cette piste reste un mystère pour plusieurs et cela permet toujours un grand spectacle.

PATRICK HAMEL INJURED IN SNOWMOBILE ACCIDENT

Selon Sylvain Brouillette, Directeur Général du Circuit Ste-Croix Riverside Speedway, le pilote ACT Castrol Patrick Hamel serait gravement blessé.

According to Sylvain Brouillette, General Manager of Circuit Ste-Croix Riverside Speedway, the ACT Castrol driver Patrick Hamel was severely injured.

Dès suite d’un accident de motoneige, sa vie ne serait pas en danger. Il sera à l’hôpital pour les 3 prochaines semaines et par la suite il aura une réhabilitation de 3 à 6 mois.

Avec seulement 2 mois avant le début des courses de stock car, il est facile de croire qu’il ne sera probablement pas en piste en 2010. Hamel la recrue 2008 du circuit québécois avait fait tourner les têtes dans la deuxième moitié de la saison de 2009 en affichant de solides performances termiant 2, 4, 9, 3 et 9e.

Veteran Bob Savoie plans Albany Saratoga, Airborne return

South Plattsburgh, NY ? Veteran Bob Savoie of Broadalbin, NY, a multi-time track champion at Albany-Saratoga Speedway, Airborne Speedway, Utica-Rome and Devil’s Bowl, is preparing a DIRTcar Modified for competition at various Airborne events and on the new asphalt at Albany-Saratoga. In 1985, Savoie won Airborne’s season opener ? on dirt - and then went on to become the Modified track champion.

“I’m still active and I still have the desire to win,” Savoie said. “I think it’s a good idea for the Champlain Valley Racing Association (CVRA) tracks to switch over to asphalt. We’re doing a family deal with our own car. My son Jason and my son-in-law Steve are going to help me out. I’m 55. I’m tired of washing mud off my race car.”

“I know that the new surface made the racing really good at Airborne last year,” Savoie added. I’ve raced a lot of laps alongside Mike Perrotte over the years. I’ve respected him for a long time. He’s a good 21^st century promoter. He knows costs have to be kept under control, but he also understands things from the racer’s side.”

Savoie began his Modified career in 1978 at Albany-Saratoga and a year later won the Utica-Rome track title. He estimates his career win total to be “around 198 or 199. »

« In 1985, I had a good year at Airborne racing against Mike, Don Scarborough, Leon Gonyo, Wes Moody and Frank Keene,” Savoie said. “I remember Airborne as the place where they made their own french fries and had sacks of potatoes around. They used to throw potatoes at the car when we started winning too much. Perhaps we?ll make their opener, I?m not sure. »

Airborne’s 57^th season opens Saturday, May 1 with the Econo Lodge 50 Syracuse qualifier for DIRTcar Modifieds. All weekly divisions will be in action.

EN AOÛT PROCHAIN AU NAPA PIÈCES D'AUTO 200 PRÉSENTÉ PAR DODGE

Montréal, le 24 février 2010 - Une des jeunes sensations et des plus prometteurs coureurs des séries NASCAR, Joey Logano, sera bel et bien de la prochaine édition du NAPA Pièces d'auto 200 présenté par Dodge, les 28 et 29 août prochain. Le jeune homme de dix-neuf ans, surnommé « slice bread » par le vétéran Randy Lajoie, un autre fils du Connecticut bien connu des amateurs québécois de stock-car, en sera à sa seconde visite au circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. Au volant de la voiture no 20 GameStop de Joe Gibbs Racing, Logano dispute cette saison un calendrier partiel de 21 courses en série Nationwide de NASCAR.

Après que certains représentants des médias eurent noté la présence de l'épreuve montréalaise sur son calendrier 2010 de série Nationwide paru il y a quelques semaines, le jeune surdoué, déjà auteur de six victoires en série Nationwide et ce, en moins de deux saisons, a confirmé et commenté de vive voix son prochain retour à Montréal.

« J'anticipe vraiment revenir courir à Montréal. C'est un tracé difficile avec des virages serrés, et très exigeants pour les freins. En 2008, j'y étais lors de la dramatique course sous la pluie et évidemment, je n'ai pu y obtenir le résultat que j'espérais, se souvient Logano, évoquant son abandon et sa 17e position au classement. Il y va cependant d'une conclusion réjouissante. « Pour plusieurs d'entre nous, il s'agissait d'une première course sous ces conditions et on n'y voyait rien. Mais je pense qu'on est sorti de là plus intelligent, mieux renseigné et mieux préparé à courir sous la pluie. Toutes nos voitures ont maintenant des essuie-glace et de bons pneus pour ces conditions. »

Il existe un autre élément important dans la confiance qu'affiche Logano avant sa prochaine visite au circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, l'expérience acquise en circuit routier. « J'ai quand même pris pas mal d'expérience depuis août 2008. J'ai bien confiance d'enregistrer un bon résultat en août prochain. Je courre toujours pour gagner et ce ne sera pas différent à Montréal. » Son meilleur résultat sur circuit routier, le jeune Joey l'a obtenu en août 2008, une 7e place en série Nationwide à Watkins Glen. « L'an passé, comme je n'étais pas à Montréal, j'ai regardé la course à la télévision et j'ai bien vu qu'on y avait encore couru en partie sous la pluie et si ça se produit encore cet été, ça ne m'inquiète pas. Nous avons une très bonne équipe et je m'attends à une bien meilleure prestation en piste que la dernière fois. C'est un superbe événement. Montréal est une ville fantastique et les amateurs le sont tout autant. Je m'y suis plu en 2008 et je compte bien qu'il en sera ainsi en 2010 », a conclu Logano.

In 2010, Alain Bergeron is in his 11th season at the wheel of a full Sprint Car. Those racing machines are among the fastest in the world.

Bergeron was the first Canadian to win a Sprint Car race with the ESS in 2000. Sprint Cars are one of the most popular type of racing in the United Sates and at the end of the 2001 season, in his second year driving a Sprint Car, he had the most wins of any driver in the series with 3.

Racing with the ESS since only 6 years, Alain Bergeron is already in 18th position in the all-time winners list of the series. Throughout this season, we will inform you of his results and various news from Team Bergeron, while Alain will be on the road competing to the best of his abilities.

FAZZT Race Team: Alex Tagliani - IZOD IndyCar

Mise à jour concernant les séances d'essais de Barber les 24 et 25 février prochains

Indianapolis (22 février 2010) - Reposant sur des prévisions météorologiques annonçant des températures en dessous des normales dans la région de Birmingham en Alabama, l'équipe de FAZZT Race Team et son pilote Alex Tagliani ont pris la décision de renoncer aux séances d'essais de la Série IZOD IndyCar et de plutôt se concentrer sur les préparatifs entourant le lancement de la saison qui aura lieu à Sao Paul au Brésil le 14 mars prochain. Alex participera néanmoins à la journée médiatique déjà prévue à l'horaire le mardi 23 février au Barber Motorsports Park. Cependant, l'équipe ne mettra pas en piste sa voiture #77 B&W FAZZT Race Team lors des séances d'essais prévues mercredi et jeudi.

Statement Regarding Barber Open Test-February 24 and 25

Indianapolis (Feb. 22, 2010) -Based on the forecast for lower than normal temperatures in the Birmingham, Alabama area this week, the FAZZT Race Team and driver Alex Tagliani have made the decision to forgo the IZOD IndyCar Series Open Test and instead continue shop based preparations for the season opening IZOD IndyCar Series event in Sao Paulo, Brazil on March 14. Alex will still participate in the scheduled media day on Tuesday, February 23 at Barber Motorsports Park but the team will not run their #77 B & W FAZZT Race Team entry in the scheduled open test on Wednesday and Thursday.

Le directeur général de FAZZT Race Team, Rob Edwards, a expliqué cette décision en mentionnant : « Nous sommes dans une situation privilégiée car nous avons connu des essais fantastiques à Homestead et Sebring en janvier dernier. Depuis, nos ingénieurs ont continué d'effectuer des tests sur les voitures à l'aide de la technologie de vibration en sept points, sur la boîte de vitesse et dans des conditions aérodynamiques. Étant donné les prévisions météo inclémentes annoncées dans les prochains jours pour Barber et après plusieurs discussions, nous croyons que notre temps devrait plutôt être consacré à poursuivre les préparatifs pour le Brésil, ici à Indianapolis. »

L'ingénieur Allen McDonald a également commenté cette décision de ne pas participer aux séances d'essais en ajoutant: « Les tests à Sebring nous ont donné une quantité impressionnante de données à analyser, et même, des suggestions quant à notre programme de développement. Nous poursuivons donc nos tests de vibration, d'aérodynamisme et autres. Toute l'équipe a déployé de grands efforts afin de convertir ces suggestions en ajustements utiles sur les pièces et les châssis, et ce, à l'intérieur d'un très court laps de temps. Puisque les conditions météo seront vraisemblablement difficiles à Barber, il est tout indiqué de maximiser le très peu de temps qu'il nous reste directement à l'usine, à appliquer les touches finales pour la course d'ouverture au Brésil. »

L'équipe poursuivra donc son travail sur la voiture #77 B&W FAZZT Race Team à son usine d'Indianapolis jusqu'au 3 mars, date à laquelle l'équipe débarquera au Brésil.

À propos de l'équipe FAZZT : L'équipe de course FAZZT a été formée en juillet 2009 à la suite d'un partenariat entre André Azzi d'Azzi Race Division, ATG, et Jim Freudenberg et Jason Priestley de l'agence Rubicon Sports. L'équipe participe à la totalité du championnat de la série IndyCar 2010. FAZZT dispose de quatre châssis Dallara et a signé une entente avec le Québécois Alex Tagliani qui pilote la voiture N^o 77. FAZZT Race Team General Manager Rob Edwards elaborated on the decision saying, "We are in the fortunate position of having had very successful tests at Homestead and Sebring in January. Since those tests, our engineers have continued testing on the seven-post rig, gearbox rig and in the wind tunnel to further develop our race package. Given the inclement weather forecast for Barber over the next few days and after much discussion, we believe the best use of our time is to continue our preparations for Brazil here in Indianapolis."

Engineer Allen McDonald also commented on the decision not to participate in the open test saying, "The Sebring test gave us a lot of data to look over and suggested some key development programs to pursue on the shaker rig, in the wind tunnel and elsewhere. All of the crew has put a huge effort into turning these development ideas into actual parts and chassis settings in a very short time span. Given the likely difficult weather conditions at Barber; it is probably in our best interest to use our remaining time here in the shop and put the finishing touches on our development items for the season opening race in Brazil."

The team will continue work on their #77 B & W FAZZT Race Team entry in their Indianapolis shop until the load date for Brazil on March 3.

About FAZZT Race Team: The FAZZT Race Team was formed in July 2009 as a partnership between Andre Azzi of the Azzi Race Division, ATG, and Jim Freudenberg and Jason Priestley of the Rubicon Sports Agency. NSS - Night 7 - Sean Bass wins race and title

Sean Bass a remporté la quatrième manche de la classe ASA/Crate Late Model du World Series of Asphalt Racing. Avec sa victoire il a aussi remporté sont championnat.

Sean Bass won the fourth leg of the ASA/Crate Late Model Championship as part of the World Series of Asphalt Racing. By virtue of that win it he also clinched the championship.

Derrière Bass Autin Kirkpatrick et Patrick Laperle ont complété le podium.

Parti de la position de tête Patrick Laperle a mené les 29 premiers tours et avait une avance de 3 secondes sur la voiture en deuxième place. Après la première neutralisation, Kirkpatrick et Bass ont passé Laperle comme s’il était arrêté. Laperle ne pouvait plus atteindre les vitesses qu’il atteignait au début.

« Quand j’ai entré la courbe trois mon éclaireur m’a avisé qu’il y avait une voiture en dérapage. Je n’ai jamais pensé que la voiture de Johnson serait en travers de la piste à l’endroit où il était. Je l’ai à peine touché mais c’étais assez pour fausser l’alignement de la voiture. J’ai quand même terminé troisième » déclara Laperle visiblement déçu d’avoir vu la victoire lui glisser entre les mains.

Kirkpatrick mena l’épreuve jusqu’au 44e passage, lorsque Bass là doublé, un tour avant que James Novak a fait sortir le second ralentissement de la course.

À la relance, Bass a demeuré en tête de l’épreuve, mais une troisième neutralisation est venu ralentir ses ardeurs. Les voitures de Stephan Nass et Kurt Jett ont fait contact sur la ligne arrière.

Avec 5 tours à faire, Bass a demeuré en tête de l’épreuve avec Kirkpatrick et Laperle terminant respectivement deuxième et troisième.

Behind Bass and completing the podium were Austin Kirkpatrick and Patrick Laperle.

Starting on the pole Patrick Laperle lead all first 29 circuits stretching his lead by as much as 3 seconds over second place car. Following the caution, at the restart, Kirkpatrick and Bass drove around Laperle like if he was stopped. Laperle could not get the car up to speed like did before in the race.

“I was entering turn 3 my spotter called it. I never expected Johnson to be sideways in the power lane. I barely touched him but knocked the toe out and my handling was way off. I hung on to third” said a disappointed Laperle after the race.

Kirkpatrick would go on leading the event until lap 44, when Bass went around him, a complete lap before James Novak brought out the second caution.

On the restart Bass stayed in the lead, but the caution was brought out right away for contact between the Stephan Nasse and Kurt Jett.

With 5 laps to go, Bass stayed in the lead with Kirpatrick finishing second and Laperle coming in third.

L’ontarien Brandon Watson a terminé au dixième rang du classement cumulatif (Bonus 50 + 0 + 4 + 20 + 16)

Terminant avec 66 points au treizième rang les canadiens Shaun McWhirter et Wayne Smith.

Il a terminé au vingtième rang avec 58 points Donnie Varcoe.

Cole Powell quand à lui a terminé au vingt-cinquième rang avec 16 points.

L’édition 2010 des World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing concluent demain soir avec le Richie Evans Memorial 100 tours pour les voitures modifiées d’asphalte et le Pete Orr Memorial 100 pour les Super Late dans lequel le québécois Kevin Roberge prendra part.

Because the last event of the Championship, scheduled for 2010-02-12 was cancelled due to rain, Bass’ win gave him just enough points to clinch the championship (50 bonus + 36 + 24 + 28 + 40 = 178) ahead of Laperle (50 bonus + 32 + 4 + 40 + 32 = 158), Dustin Delaney (50 bonus + 24 + 36 + 32 + 12 = 154), Stephan Nasse (50 bonus + 40 + 40 + 16 + 4 = 150) and Brandon Johnson (50 bonus + 28 + 28 + 16 +4 = 146).

Ontario driver Brandon Watson finished tenth in the overall standing (Bonus 50 + 0 + 4 + 20 + 16).

Scoring 66 points and getting scored in thirteen were canadians Shaun McWhirter and Wayne Smith.

Scored twentieth with 58 points is Donnie Varcoe.

Cole Powell was scored twenty-fifth with sixteen points.

The 2010 edition of the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing concludes tomorrow with the Richie Evans Memorial 100 laps and the Pete Orr Memorial 100 for Super Late Models in which quebec driver Kevin Roberge will race.
