Les classes IMCA/Florida Modified et Super Late ont été ponctuées de nombreux accidents et même quelques drapeaux rouge ce qui a fait que la soirée a perdurée… et même que la classe SK a vue ses tours coupé de moitié (de 30 à 15). Martin Latulipe a signé une victoire et Kevin Roberge une troisième place dans la classe Crate / Late Model. Latulippe qui s’étais élancé de la position de tête après que les 5 premiers soient disqualifié à la suite des time trials et de l’inversion roulait bien mais n’était pas assez rapide pour Dalton Zehr. Il a donc vu Zehr lui prendre la position de tête. « Nous n’avions pas la bonne gear. La voiture était soudée, mais le cut off embarquait au flagman » déclara Latulippe. Après l’inspection ont apprendra que Zehr utilisait des ressorts de valve non conforme et fut disqualifié. En plus de Zehr, les ontariens Brandon Watson et Cole Powell aussi ont passé devant Latulippe. Les deux ont même pris les commandes de l’épreuve. Alors qu’ils s’amenait pour le quadrillé à la sortie de la 4, Powell a envoyé Watson en tête-à-queue provoquant tout un carmbolage. Zehr, Latulippe, Austin Kirkpatrick, Kevin Roberge et Jerick Johnson ont croisé le fil d’arrivé dans l’ordre. Même que Kirkpatrick a croisé le fil de reculons. Le grand opportuniste fut Roberge. Avec 1 tour à faire il était 8e. Dans l’incident Watson (bris) / Powell (pénalité) l’autre ontarien Shawn McWhirter n’a pu éviter la voiture de Watson et a terminé la course en percutant son confrère de l’ontario. Vallée Jonction’s Martin Latulippe won and Lévis’ Kevin Roberge finished 3rd in the Crate / Late Model ranks. Latulippe who started on the pole after some disqualification in post time trial and due to the inversion ran well but wasn’t fast enough to hold back Dalton Zehr and conceded the top spot over. “We just didn’t have the right gear. The car was welded to the track but the cut off would kick in at the flagman” said Latulippe. Following post race inspection we would lean that Zehr was using illegal valve springs and was disqualified. In addition to Zehr, Ontario drivers Brandon Watson and Cole Powell also powered around Latulippe. They even took over the lead of the race. With only a few feet remaining, coming out of turn four, Powell dumped Watson sending him in a spin at the front of the field. Zehr, Latulippe, Austin Kirkpatrick, Kevin Roberge and Jerick Johnson cross the stat/finish line in that order. Even Kirkpatrick did so going backwards as a spun due to the incident. The winner from that ordeal was Roberge. Eight with one lap to go he was credited with fourth place when Watson was taken out, Powell diqualified for rough driving, the other Ontario driver Shawn McWhirter was also involved in the incident and dropped to the back of the field as he collected Watson car sitting across the track. Canadian Maryeve Dufault Ready to Tackle Daytona in ARCA Season Opener
 DAYTONA BEACH, Florida (February 7, 2011) - - Testing is now complete and ARCA Rookie Maryeve Dufault is ready to put the knowledge gained to use in the ARCA season opener at Daytona International Speedway on February 12. Dufault, who previously competed in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, will attempt to qualify the No. 12 Dodge Charger entry for Tony Marks Racing (TMR), the newest multi-car operation in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards. |
“I am really looking forward to the race weekend at Daytona,” said Dufault. “We have done quite a bit of testing over the last few months and after our test at Daytona in January I feel quite prepared for this weekend.” The team ran the three-day open test at Daytona in January and Dufault delivered solid results putting the No. 12 Dodge Charger 28th out of 58 competitors with a fast lap of 49.203 seconds/ 182.916 miles per hour. “I was pretty happy with our test and how the car felt in the draft,” explained Dufault when asked about Daytona. “I had so much information from the team and other drivers about the draft, and how the car would handle differently so I felt prepared when I actually got in the draft for the first time. The car was very well balanced and stable and I thought it was really exciting. It was actually fun and I really enjoyed the drafting. I know that it will be a little different in the race, but I think with the testing and preparation that we have done that I will be ready.” Dufault has reams of experience behind her effort with veteran crew chief Larry Moore at the helm of the No. 12 TMR Dodge Charger. Moore was the crew chief for 2008 ARCA Champion Justin Allgaier who qualified 30th at the 2008 Daytona event and finished in second place. “It will certainly be a challenge since we will be attempting to make the race on qualified time,” explained Moore. “It looks like there will be quite a few cars so we need to be prepared and have the No. 12 ready to go when we arrive. Maryeve has shown real promise in her testing sessions at New Smyrna and Daytona so I feel confident that she’ll get qualified and make the race. Right now our main objective is to get this car qualified on Friday (Feb. 11) and make the race and then finish well on Saturday.” Dufault, who caught the eye of the Dodge Motorsport representative while racing for the Dodge Quebec Dealers during the 2010 season, will be serving as the Dodge Motorsport development driver for the 2011 ARCA season. “I am very thankful to Dodge and Tony Marks for their support and for giving me this opportunity,” said Dufault. “Dodge has a great history supporting drivers such as Brad Keslowski and Kurt Busch and Tony is putting 110% effort behind this team, so I feel flattered to be in this position. I am really excited to get the season underway and bring home a good result for Dodge and Tony Marks Racing this weekend.” Dufault and the TMR team will attempt to qualify the No. 12 Dodge Charger on Friday, February 11 at 2 p.m. and then race in the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona on Saturday, February 12, 2011. ACT VETERAN CHAMPIONS WILL BE CHALLENGED AT NEW SMYRNA SPEEDWAY
For Immediate Release ACT – 020311-10 Waterbury, VT –Veterans of the American Canadian Tour (ACT) will find plenty of eager young and veteran talent to challenge them at the inaugural Goodyear Speedweeks Cup event to be held at the New Smyrna Speedway during the upcoming World Series of Asphalt Stock Car racing this month. |
Past American Canadian Tour Champions, Brian Hoar from Williston, VT, Karl Allard, Ste Felicien, QC, Donald Theetge, Quebec City, QC and Patrick Laperle from Ste-Denis sur Richeleau, west of Montreal, have all won multiple championships during their successful careers. Hoar is a seven time and defending ACT Champion. He has been winning races at all levels of competition for nearly 20 years. After winning five ACT Late Model championships between 1993 and 2000, he moved over to the former NASCAR Busch East division. He became a top competitor, won Rookie of the year in 2001, a Busch East race at Thunder Road Speedbowl in ’03, and the yearly track championship at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in 2006. “The New Smyrna events are going to be great for our team. First we want to have some fun. We also want to try and get some momentum heading into the coming season. I think this will be the ultimate ‘neutral track’ for all our teams. I guess Joey (Polewarczyk), Patrick (Laperle) and Eric Chase are the only guys to have been there. I might have to follow Joey around for a few laps, but we are kind of tired of finishing behind him after his great run last September. Hopefully we can turn that around in a few days,” said Hoar. Theetge and Allard are two of the most successful short track ‘long track’ (tracks ½ mile or longer) stars in the ACT organization. Laperle is the only driver to win both the ACT US title and the ACT Serie Castrol title. Laperle has also competed, won, and nearly won the overall title in the crate division at New Smyrna Speedway’s 10 days of short track racing two years ago. Joey Pole, from Hudson, NH is currently the leader of the pack among ACT’s 21 year-old and under group of talent. He won five races in the last half of the 2010 season, with two career highlights: in September, the ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and the 48th annual Milk Bowl at Thunder Road in Barre, VT. Among others, Pole will be joined by Série Castrol Rookie of the Year Alex Labbe from Ste-Albert, QC, and U.S. Rookie-of-the-Year runner-up Austin Theriault from Fort Kent, ME. Long-time ACT followers will be surprised to see Mike Bruno from Rutland, VT returning to ACT after a number of years off racing on the former Busch East Series, the Dirt Modifieds in New York and Vermont, and more recently Dirt Asphalt Modifieds. 2010 Lee USA Speedway track champion, Wayne Helliwell, Jr. and Twin State Speedway, Claremont, NH champ Aaron Fellows have joined the field for the Goodyear Speedweeks Cup. Twenty-eight teams from New England, New York, Quebec and Ontario will head south for the unique ACT twin 100-lap format event. Sunday, February 13th and Monday February 14th will start the 2011 stock car season for those teams. Northern style qualifying and double file restarts will be in effect. En l'absence d'un des réguliers, Jean-Nicolas Gareau qui n'a pu se présenter en raison d'un conflit d'horaire avec son nouveau travail et des déboires de Daniel Nadeau dès la première pratique, les organisateurs ont décidé que la course inaugurale sur glace serait remplacée par une course d'exhibition. L'entrée officielle est donc reporté à la semaine prochaine, lors de l'épreuve présentée à Repentigny. |
La neige complique la tâche des pilotes REVSTAR Derek White en relève ! Une première expérience qui s'est avérée plus difficile que prévue mais ce n'est que partie remise. Les organisateurs ne sont pas découragés et ils comptent se reprendre la semaine prochaine sur le petit Bristol de glace de Repentigny dans un programme organisé par Buddy Ford qui s'annonce dès plus prometteur. Nous sommes convaincu que la glace sera de très bonne qualité et qu'elle conviendra mieux à nos bolides. Calendrier des courses sur glace

NDS MOTORSPORTS PR - ANDREW RANGER FINISHES 22ND IN ALL-STAR EVENT
For immediate release NDS – 2010-01-29 - 001 IRWINDALE, CA — January 29, 2011 — Andew Ranger overcame a cancelled flight due to a snow storm, slept in an airport and survived 11 cautions to finish in 22nd place in the eighth running of the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown, which brings together the top racers from across North America and has grown into the "Daytona 500 of short-track racing". |
Ranger, the driver of the No. 35 Waste Management Recycling NDS Motorsports, lined up in 8th place for Saturday night's All-Star event after turning the eight fastest lap of all in time trials the night before. Forty-six competitors, representing five countries, attempted to qualify for one of the forty starting positions in the main event. The 225 lap NASCAR K&N Pro Series All-Star race was broken up into three segments. After each one, crews were given 10 minutes to service the car before returning to the track in the same order they completed the previous one. In the first segment of 102 laps, the Roxton Pond, Quebec native climbed as high as fifth place in the standings before fading back in the field when the car's handling changed. "We qualified the race car under very hot conditions. We adjusted the car's setup for the night time race, at first we were very competitive, we were battling in the top 10, but it didn't stick. We must of went too far and I just could no longer drive the car, it wouldn't turn" said Ranger. He finished the segment in 26th position. In the second segment, from laps 103 to 198, Ranger still had his hands full behind the No. 35 Waste Management Recycling car steering wheel. "During the competition yellow, we went too far. We went from a tight car to a very loose car. Already with 1 lap down, I lost two additional laps in the pits under green to fix the car's setup. It went much better from that point on". Ranger started the third segment and last 27 laps dash in the 27th starting position and took advantage of a much better handling car to improve his finish at the end. He would cross the finish line in 22nd position three laps down to the leader. Participating in his third Toyota All-Star Showdown, Ranger who was involved in an accident in 2007 and finishing 15th in 2010, he and the No. 35 Waste Management Recycling NDS Motorsports crew came to Irwindale, CA with very high expectations. "Obviously, it's disappointing. Everyone worked hard. We tested before coming here and we had high hopes. Missing the setup cost us a top five finish" added Ranger. Instead of the win, the Vermont based team will return home with very important information about racing in the Southwest's temperature. Dufault, 28 and of Quebec, interviewed with Burning Rubber Radio's Andy Delay and Wayne Owens Thursday night, discussing her background and her plans for entry into the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards. Dufault first spoke about her experience testing the No. 12 Tony Marks Racing Dodge. "We just came back from the test in Daytona. The test went really well for me...I just wanted to have as much seat time as possible, and we did. I'm really happy with it. The team was able to gather information for the upcoming race. It was really helpful for me, because we were working with Larry Moore, who's been around in ARCA. He did a great job bringing the whole team together," Dufault said in the interview. With a father whose background is in motorcycle racing and a career of her own that she says includes driving down "a bad road at 170 mph" in a motorcycle, Dufault was impressed but not intimidated by the Daytona oval. "It's an amazing feeling to go at that speed in this kind of car," she said. Dufault talked more about her racing career and her ARCA expectations in the interview. Parmi les participants prévus à l’épreuve se retrouvent le champion de la série NASCAR Canadian Tire présentée par Mobil 1 DJ Kennington et le champion de la série NASCAR Mexico Germán Quiroga. Kennington sera accompagné par un autre Canadien avec le champion 2007 et 2009 de la série NASCAR Canadian Tire Andrew Ranger qui sera à la ligne de départ. Pour Quiroga, ce seront ses compatriotes Rubén Rovelo et Daniel Suarez qui se joindront à lui pour défendre les couleurs du Mexique. De l’extérieur de la bannière NASCAR, le Français Lucas Lasserre, champion 2010 de la RACECAR Euro Series, se dirige aussi vers la Californie. «Cette épreuve est tellement prestigieuse que si tu obtiens une occasion d’y courir, tu dois y être, explique Kennington. Le niveau et la profondeur de la compétition sont impressionnants. Chaque pilote à la ligne de départ a sa part de victoires.» En tant que champions des séries internationales de NASCAR, Kennington et Quiroga ont des places garanties sur la grille de départ de l’épreuve principale. They also will be teammates, of sorts, by driving for Bill McAnally Racing for this special event. BMR is one of the top stables in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West and is home to 2010 champion Eric Holmes. Ranger, a Quebec native, also enters the event with a secure starting spot as a 2010 K&N Pro Series event winner having won at California’s Infineon Raceway in the West and Connecticut’s Lime Rock Park in the East after splitting his season between the U.S. and Canada. He competed in the 2007 and 2010 NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdowns after each of his two Canadian Tire Series titles. NASCAR News - NASCAR Names Kristi King Director of Communications, Competition; Steve Pegram Director of Stakeholder Communications

Kristi King, who has 17 years of public relations and marketing experience in NASCAR racing, has been named director of communications, competition and joins the sanctioning body’s Integrated Marketing Communications team. Steve Pegram brings more than 15 years of experience working with high-profile brands, sports and entertainment properties across multiple marketing and promotional platforms and has been appointed director of stakeholder communications. Most recently, he has worked with Motorsports Management International, the leading driver management firm, and Red Bull Energy Drink, where he oversaw motorsports communications and played an instrumental role in launching the start-up Red Bull Racing NASCAR team. Pegram’s first involvement with NASCAR was more than a decade ago in servicing the Miller Brewing sports marketing account for Wunderman, a Young & Rubicam-owned integrated marketing agency. King, who will be based at the NASCAR Research and Development Center in Concord, N.C., has worked at Talladega Superspeedway for the past 6½ years. She was the track’s director of public relations from 2004-08 before being promoted to senior director of communications and consumer marketing in 2008. King was public relations director at North Carolina Speedway in Rockingham, N.C., from 1994 to 2004. In her new role, King will assist in providing strategic leadership for all competition-related public relations efforts with specific responsibilities geared towards the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. "Kristi brings a solid background in our sport along with a high level of energy and creativity,” said Kerry Tharp, NASCAR senior director of communications, competition. “We’re excited about her joining our team.” Pegram will play a critical role in leading NASCAR’s collaboration with the marketing and communications teams at various entities throughout the industry, especially race teams and track operators. Pegram will be responsible for working collaboratively with the IMC leadership team and across all NASCAR departments – most notably Industry Relations – to identify and then strategically mobilize NASCAR resources to support key promotional initiatives. NASCAR veteran Jennifer Powell has been promoted to senior manager, stakeholder communications and will report to Pegram as they collaborate on establishing the department. “Steve’s relationships and strategic experience will be vital to extending NASCAR’s communications efforts with key stakeholders in the sport,” said Steve Phelps, NASCAR chief marketing officer. J&S Steel, Vermont Life Safety and Airborne Marketing Manager Sherm Hamel have arranged to double last year’s payout for the Sportsman headliner “4-20’s” event and create a $1,000 point fund lottery. The Vermont Life Safety 4-20’s race, set for August 13, consists of four 20-lap sprints, each now increased to pay $500 for 1st place. The line-up for successive legs of the race is set by inverting the previous order of finish. The overall event winner, determined by the lowest total of combined finishes, also earns $500. “The Sportsmen are a pretty competitive division,” Hamel said, “but if someone can win every segment, they can go home with $2,500.” J&S Steel will provide a year-end bonus to the division’s point fund. “We’ll have a drawing among the top ten drivers and the winner will walk away with a $1,000,” owner Jeff Sears pledged. “All of us at J&S Steel are looking forward to the 2011 racing season at Airborne Speedway. I think 2010 was the best year ever at the speedway. The whole Airborne staff really goes out of their way to bring quality family entertainment to the Plattsburgh area. We are very proud to represent the Sportsman division and add some extra incentive for the racers.” Bucko Branham of Plattsburgh was the overall “4-20’s” winner in 2010, edging out track champion Robin Wood and rookie Bill Thwaits, who dropped out with electrical failure on the last lap.
