Devil's Bowl Speedway Announces Summer Schedule Changes
Three dates added, several adjustments made for both asphalt and dirt surfaces
For Immediate Release DBS-071916-1
WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Vermont's Devil's Bowl Speedway has announced a list of changes to its NASCAR Whelen All-American Series stock car racing schedule for the second half of the 50th season. Three race dates have been added to the calendar at the Rutland County facility and several other adjustments have been made on existing dates, with many of the changes created to make up for cancellations due to rain earlier in the season.
The double-points Mid-Season Championships have been rescheduled for both the half-mile Asphalt Track and the 3/10-mile Dirt Track at Devil's Bowl. The Asphalt Track will hold its Mid-Season event this Saturday, July 23 at a new start time of 7:00 p.m., presented by Friend Construction of Bristol, Vt. With the Dirt Track off this week, the Mid-Season Championships will be held on Sunday, July 31 at 6:00 p.m.
The first added race date will be on the Dirt Track on Sunday, August 7 at 6:00 p.m., with double features on tap for the Central Vermont Motorcycles Sportsman Modified, Rosen & Berger Auto Recyclers Renegade, and Portland Glass Mini Stock divisions. The Dirt Track will also add a date on Sunday, August 21 at 6:00 p.m., and the Sportsman Modifieds will run a special 38-lap "Tribute Series" race in the rescheduled "Vince Quenneville Sr. Memorial" event presented by Interstate All Battery Center of Rutland.
The Asphalt Track will add an event on Labor Day weekend, Saturday, September 3 at 7:00 p.m., with a four-division card presented by The Rutland Herald including the Bond Auto Parts Sportsman Modifieds, Central Vermont Motorcycles Late Models, Rosen & Berger Auto Recyclers Renegades, and Portland Glass Mini Stocks.
The addition of the new race dates means that Devil's Bowl Speedway will now have racing on both Saturdays and Sundays for a seven-week stretch from July 30-31 through the Vermont 200 Asphalt Championship Weekend on September 10-11.
Other changes include the addition of Sportsman Twin 25s on the Asphalt on both July 30 and August 13, and the annual three-segment Asphalt Mini Stock special event – originally planned for this week – has been moved to August 20. The "Tribute Series" 50-lap Sportsman race honoring inaugural Devil's Bowl champion Mert "Socks" Hulbert has been rescheduled for the Dirt Track on Sunday, September 18, after being rained out in May.
Finally, fireworks shows have been added at three events, the first being at the fifth annual Carrara Masonry & Concrete "C.J. Richards Memorial 67" Sportsman event on the Asphalt on August. Both tracks will have fireworks on Labor Day weekend, September 3-4.
The Friend Construction Asphalt Mid-Season Championships on Saturday, July 23feature four divisions of racing action and the popular Kids' Racecar Rides program at intermission. Regular admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students, and free for kids age 12 and under. Gates open at 5:00 p.m., with racing at 7:00 p.m.
Devil's Bowl Speedway is located on Route 22A in West Haven, Vt., four miles north of Exit 2 off of U.S. Route 4 and just 20 minutes from Rutland, Vt.

Press release - For immediate distribution
Coming soon to Canada: An all new Performance Rally Championship!
Montréal, July 19 2016.- News was released today about an all new Performance Rally Championship that will be run in Canada starting next fall. This new championship, to be known as the "Challenge Extrême Élite" (CXE) will be sanctioned by the well known American organisation NASA Rally Sport.
This all new championship will consist of five events taking place in different regions across the province of Quebec and will be open to cars and motorcycles alike. Each of the events will be run over a distance of 160 to 200 km of timed stages, offering competitors a national-level route.
Cars will compete in four competition classes while motorcycles will compete in two classes. In addition, the championship's events will be run on different types of road surfaces including two on gravel, two in winter on ice and snow and one entirely on asphalt. The five rounds selected to form the first "Challenge Extrême Élite" calendar will be Rally Portneuf (November 12, 2016), Rally Mékinac (January 14, 2017), Rally Ville La Tuque (January 28, 2017), Rally Sanair (April 21-22, 2017) and Rally Ville Saguenay (June 17, 2017).
Also worth highlighting is the fact that both winter events will see competitors running on studded tires identical to those provided by Pirelli for use in the WRC (World Rally Championship) making the CXE the only series in North America to do so. This will not only offer a spectacular show for the thousands of fans assembled along the rally route but also provide level playing field for competitors. A similar approach will be used for events held on gravel road surfaces where Pirelli will provide a specific tire for competitors within each class.
For the series coordinator Éric Tremblay, spreading the championship across two calendar years is not insignificant and the decision was made after taking into consideration the realities faced by many competitors. As he mentions: "Condensing the calendar into the period across late fall, winter and early spring provides more time during the summer to be spent with family, enables focusing on the beginning of the school year and attending to the many professional obligations faced by competitors, series officials and fans." He also adds "It is our aim to create a calendar comprised of exciting events that will raise the level of interest in the sport and offer the challenge of a national-level championship. That is why we've engaged first-class sponsors—many of which are world renowned—and concluded an agreement with the American organization NASA Rally Sport to sanction the events."
The National Auto Sport Association (NASA) was established in 1991 and in 2003 it created its NASA Rally Sport division. Currently, NASA sanctions seventeen performance rally events and a total of over 300 motorsports events per year in the United States. The organization has more than 12,000 members and is dedicated to supporting its events in all aspects from organization, to management and event operation. As part of this support, NASA provides organizers and volunteers with several training videos along with various IT tools including an online registration system and an electronic timing system measuring to 1/1000thof a second.
The Challenge Extrême Élite 2016-2017 is presented by Uptown Volvo, Pirelli, Panta Racing Fuel, Lazer High Performance Lighting, Platto Motorsport, Boisvert Mitsubishi, Gulf and Virage Multimedia.

Mid-Summer Bash at Peterborough Speedway Brings the Cream to the Top
By Jim Clarke, Clarke Motorsports Communications/First Draft Media
In a perfect world, every race season at Canada's Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval would just go on and on and on. Even though it seems like things just got underway, Peterborough Speedway's 2016 campaign will reach its unofficial halfway point – Saturday, July 23rd – when Country 105 presents the Mid-Summer Bash.
As the countdown continues to the 24th Annual Autumn Colours Classic, fans will be treated to an exciting night of action with the Jiffy Lube Mini Stock, Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck, Paul Davis Systems Thunder Car, Earl Ireland Auto Sales Late Model and Ontario Modifieds Racing Series divisions. Track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse says there is still plenty of great racing on the agenda.
"We've had some outstanding shows that have kept the fans on the edge of their seats," said Josiasse. "In 5 of the last 6 weekly events, there has been at least one feature race that has been run from start-to-finish without a caution flag. That type of performance offers the crowd some excellent racing throughout the pack and the outcome isn't usually decided until the field comes off the 4th turn in a charge toward the checkered flag."
For the Mid-Summer Bash – Saturday, July 23rd – pit gates will open at 3:00, with the spectator grandstands unlocked at 5:00. The night's first qualifying heat will hit the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road, west of the Liftlock City at 6:00.
Looking ahead at the schedule finds the Touring Chase for the Autumn Colours Classic – with the OSCAAR Super Late Models, Modifieds, Midgets and Pro Midgets – along with the home track 4Fun and Mini Stocks on the program for Saturday, July 30th. The annual appearance of the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series – also featuring the 4Fun, Mini Stock, Thunder Car and Ontario Modifieds Racing Series – takes the stage Saturday, August 6th.
Bullring Bullet Points: The Kid's Bike Races that were delayed due to time constraints the night of the APC Pro Late Model event will be held during the intermission Saturday, July 23rd at the Mid-Summer Bash
Full schedule details, along with up to the minute news and results are always available atwww.peterboroughspeedway.com, by liking the track on Facebook or following it on Twitter. You can also download the free Peterborough Speedway app on your Smartphone.
