Big Names Gunning for Big Wins at Vermont 200 at Devil's Bowl

Championships, prestige on the line at year-end asphalt event

For Immediate Release                                                                                                                                                                         DBS-090915-1

WEST HAVEN, VT – Some of the region's best asphalt stock car drivers are headed to Devil's Bowl Speedway for the Mekkelsen RV Vermont 200 Championship Weekend on September 12-13. While most will chase the checkered flag, a handful will try to complete their drive to become champions in the finale for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series presented by Yandow Sales & Service and John Deere.

Ron Proctor and Vince Quenneville Jr. will finally settle their red-hot battle for the Bond Auto Parts Modified division through qualifying events on Saturday, September 12, and a pair of extra-distance, 50-lap feature races on Sunday, September 13.  Charlton, NY veteran Proctor, the point leader and a former two-time champion, found success in this event last year by winning one of the Twin 50s.

Quenneville, of Brandon, VT, has four wins in 2015 to Proctor's two, but Proctor has collected more bonus points during qualifying heats and semi-feature races.  The title contenders have finished within one position of each other in seven of the last 10 feature races, and they enter the finale just five points apart.

Top racers Greg Atkins, Leon Gonyo, Codie Aubin, and Jason Durgan, will be in action as well as Jimmy Ryan, Billy Lussier, and the returning Joey Roberts, who was sidelined by a hard crash in July.  Others expected include the legendary Kenny Tremont Jr., current Late Model standout and past Modified champion Todd Stone, and – pending the birth of his second child – Airborne Park Speedway champion Nick Heywood.

The Central Vermont Motorcycles Late Model division will run qualifying races and a 100-lap finale on Sunday afternoon, and an impressive field is expected to enter.  Thunder Road star Trampas Demers of South Burlington, VT will return to Devil's Bowl in defense of last year's victory.

"I've had this weekend circled on my calendar all year," Demers said.  "My schedule doesn't let me race at Devil's Bowl on Friday nights during the summer, but I read the results after every race. The competition has really stepped up this year and guys like Josh Masterson and Robert Bryant Jr. are going to be tough."

Devil's Bowl point leader Masterson, of Bristol, VT, number-two man Bryant from Brooklyn, CT, and Middlebury, VT racer Stone will also be vying for the win against Bobby Therrien, Jamie Aube, Chris Bergeron, Steve Miller, rookie Richard Lowrey III, and breakout stars Walter Hammond and Seth Bridge.

The fields for the Brileya's Chrysler-Jeep Renegade and Portland Glass Mini Stock divisions are expected to swell; the Renegades will run a 50-lap finale, and the Mini Stocks will race two 15-lap scored segments for their final race of the season.  The MFT Sauce & Rub Co. Enduro Series will also run a metal-crunching 50-lap race.

More than $29,000 in total prize money has been posted for the two-day show.  Saturday, September 12 features qualifying for the Modified, Renegade, and Mini Stock divisions, and special "Non-Winners Shootout" races for all divisions including the Late Models.  The day is capped off by the annual Vermont 200 bonfire and barbeque party – free for all who purchase a race ticket or pit pass.  Main events will be run on Sunday, September 13 as the season champions are crowned; racing begins at 1:30 p.m. on both days.

Two-day general admission for the Mekkelsen RV Vermont 200 Championship Weekend is $25.  The single Saturday-only ticket is $10, and the single Sunday-only ticket is $20.  Kids age 12 and under will be admitted free all weekend.  Weekend pit area admission is $40, and camping is free all weekend (no hookups).  Pit gates open at 9:00 a.m. both days, grandstands open at 11:00 a.m., and racing is at 1:30 p.m.

Devil's Bowl Speedway is located on Route 22A in West Haven, VT, four miles north of Exit 2 on U.S. Route 4.  For more information, visit www.DevilsBowlSpeedwayVT.com or call (802) 265-3112.  Devil's Bowl Speedway is on Facebook at facebook.com/DevilsBowlSpeedway and on Twitter and Instagram at @DevilsBowlSpeed; follow the action using the #DevilsBowl hashtag.

ACT Tour Makes Regular Season Debut at Autodrome Chaudiere

ACT Tour Makes Regular Season Debut at Autodrome Chaudiere

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                                             ACT090915-117

<<ATTACHED PHOTO (IMG_5879rs.jpg): Dover, NH's Wayne Helliwell Jr. (#27NH) enters Saturday's Chaudiere 200 trailing Joey Polewarczyk Jr. by one point in the ACT Tour standings. (T.J. Ingerson/VTMotorMag.com photo)>>

Vallée-Jct., QC – The American-Canadian Tour (ACT) U.S and Série ACT head to Vallée-Jct., QC's Autodrome Chaudiere this Saturday, September 12 for the Chaudiere Twin 200s. The ACT Late Models and the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models will both run 200-lap main events in the doubleheader for the two series.

The ACT combination event is the inaugural point-counting race for the ACT U.S. Tour at Chaudiere. Select U.S. drivers previously visited the speedway for the "Showdown at Chaudiere" invitational event held from 2008-2012, but many Tour regulars will be making their debut at the 1/3-mile oval. Even drivers such as two-time ACT Champion Wayne Helliwell Jr. will have their work cut out for them to get up to speed.

"It will definitely be interesting, because we have no notes to go on to go back there," Dover, NH's Helliwell said. "From what I remember (at the Showdown), the track is an interesting combination between Thunder Road and White Mountain – it had a lot of banking and was really tight. Hopefully between those two tracks we can come up with a good setup."

All eyes will be on the scintillating ACT U.S. Tour championship battle. Defending ACT Champion Joey Polewarczyk Jr. of Hudson, NH leads Helliwell by a single point with three point-counting races remaining on the 2015 calendar. "Joey Pole" has the upper hand after his fifth win of the season in the Tour's most recent event at Circuit Riverside Speedway.

"It seems like neither one of us can really capitalize on the other having a bad day, and we just throw the point lead back and forth," Helliwell said. "I think one of us will come out of Chaudiere a couple points ahead, and the same thing will happen when we head to Airborne in October. I'm figuring and banking on it being a really tight point battle when we get to Thompson for the season finale."

Windham, ME's Brad Babb has secured his hold on third in the standings and leads fourth-place Jeff White by 55 points. White, Emily Packard, Brandon Atkins, and Kyle Welch among others continue to jockey for spots in the top-10 as the season winds down.

St-Edouard, QC's Dany Trépanier leads the Série ACT standings by 42 points over 2013 Champion Jean-François Déry. Patrick Cliche, Jonathan Bouvrette, and Martin Goulet Jr. round out the top-five.

Defending Série ACT Champion Alex Labbé picked up his fourth win of the season last Saturday at Autodrome Montmagny. His efforts have given the Larue Motorsports team a 40-point lead over Trépanier in the owner standings. Bouvrette has a comfortable lead over Babb and Goulet in the Bond Auto Parts New Champions standings.

The PASS North Super Late Models will also run a 200-lap main event in the fourth ACT-PASS doubleheader of the season. PASS North point leader Mike Rowe leads the charge, while Joey Doiron looks for his third doubleheader win of the season after emerging victorious at Thunder Road in May and Airborne Park Speedway in July. Recent Oxford 250 winner Glen Luce has also entered the event.

The Chaudiere Twin 200s for the ACT Tour, Série ACT, and the PASS North Super Late Models are this Saturday, September 12 at Vallée-Jct., QC's Autodrome Chaudiere. Post time is 6:00pm with the front gates opening at 2:00pm. Admission is $40 USD/$45 CAN for adults and free for kids 12 and under.

For more information contact the ACT offices at 802.244.6963media@acttour.com, or visit www.acttour.com or www.autodromechaudiere.ca.

PASS AIM Recycling Super Late Models Looking To Chaudiere And Beech Ridge

PASS AIM Recycling Super Late Models Looking To Chaudiere And Beech Ridge

 - For Immediate Release

NAPLES, ME (September 10) – Following the hoopla of the 42nd Annual AIM Recycling Oxford 250 Presented By Kenny U-Pull, Pro All Stars Series (PASS) AIM Recycling Super Late Model competitors now shift their focus to two more familiar events.  This weekend, PASS heads "North Of The Border" to join the American Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Models for Twin 200's at Autodrome Chaudiere.  Then, PASS returns state side for the 9th Annual PASS 400 Weekend at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, featuring the Southern Maine Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep 300.

Despite struggling to a disappointing 25th place finish in the Oxford 250, current PASS AIM Recycling Super Late Model points leader Mike Rowe still maintains a healthy advantage in the standings.  Rowe sits just over 100 points on his nearest championship combatants Travis Benjamin and Joey Doiron.  Benjamin, a two-time Oxford 250 champion, and Doiron, a former PASS winner at Beech Ridge, were not able to capitalize on Rowe's missteps at Oxford, both suffering their own poor finishes.

Sitting just behind the championship leaders are Turner, ME's Ben Rowe and Newmarket, NH's Bryan Kruczek.  Chaudiere and Beech Ridge will be pivotal for both drivers if they have any hopes of joining the title fight.  Ben Rowe ended a long winless drought in the North by taking the checkered flag at Autodrome Chaudiere, while Kruczek was able to score his first career PASS victory at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway back in May.

Both races coming up are expected to attract some of the best racers from New England and Canada.  Veteran Quebec driver Patrick Laperle scored his only win of the season last time PASS raced at Chaudiere back in June.  Veteran Travis Benjamin, along with fellow veteran Johnny Clark will be looking for their first wins of the season, while defending Oxford 250 champion Glen Luce hopes to make it two-in-a-row in PASS competition.

Action begins this Saturday afternoon at Autodrome Chaudiere with practice at 2 PM for the PASS Super Late Models, ACT Late Models, and 4 Cylinders.  At 6 PM, heat races for all divisions will go green, followed by main event racing at 7 PM, featuring Twin 200s for the PASS AIM Recycling Super Late Models and ACT Late Models.

Entry forms, the complete weekend schedule, and more detailed information for the events at Autodome Chaudiere and Beech Ridge Motor Speedway can be found at ProAllStarsSeries.com.

The Pro All Stars Series is recognized as North America's premier sanctioning body for asphalt Super Late Models and boasts such marquee events as the legendary AIM Recycling Oxford 250 Presented By Kenny U-Pull at Oxford Plains Speedway and PASS South's Easter Bunny 150 at the historic Hickory Motor Speedway.  For technical information concerning all PASS divisions please send questions topassracing@roadrunner.com.  For media or marketing questions, please contact Alan Dietz at 704-231-2039 or alandietzpass@live.com.  And, don't forget to "Like" the Pro All Stars Series on Facebook or follow us on Twitter @PASSSLM14 to keep up with breaking news as it happens.

PASS Sets March Dates For 2016 South Super Late Model Openers

PASS Sets March Dates For 2016 South Super Late Model Openers

-       Dillon And Hickory To Kickoff 11th PASS South Super Late Model Season In March

-       For Immediate Release

CHARLOTTE, NC (September 8) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) President Tom Mayberry announced late today that the 2016 season for the PASS South Super Late Models will begin at two familiar Carolina speedways.  The South's longest running and most prestigious Super Late Model championship will begin on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Ron Barfield's Dillon Motor Speedway with the 11th Annual South Carolina Clash.  Then, on Saturday, March 26, 2016, PASS will make its annual trek to Hickory Motor Speedway for one of the Spring's biggest short track events, the 11th Annual Easter Bunny 150.  Both races will include optional practice for competitors on the Friday preceding each event and support divisions will be announced in the coming weeks.

"The 2015 PASS season has already been a great one, so we felt like the time was right to announce these two major events in the South for 2016," said PASS President Tom Mayberry.  "Dillon and Hickory provide some of the best and most memorable racing action year in and year out and we can't wait to get back to those two great racetracks to kick off the 2016 season.  By getting these dates out early, we hope it will help our competitors and fans as they start to plan out next year's racing calendar."

For the sixth time in the last eight years, the PASS South Super Late Model season will begin at Dillon Motor Speedway.  The tricky 4/10 mile, egg-shaped speedway on the South Carolina/North Carolina border has long been a fan favorite.  A new generation of PASS South racers will hope to join the likes of Ben Rowe, Ryan Blaney, Austin Theriault, and Daniel Hemric as a winner of the South Carolina Clash next March.

Hickory Motor Speedway, the longest tenured facility on the PASS South circuit, will once again host one of short track racing's premier events in 2016.  The 11th Annual Easter Bunny 150 will bring some of the best racers from across North America together again onSaturday, March 26, 2016.  As has become a Spring tradition for many fans and racers, the infield is expected to again be filled to capacity as the best Super Late Model drivers hope to put their names in the legendary record book as a winner at Hickory.

Additional PASS dates for the 2016 season will be released by October 1.  The complete schedules for both the PASS South Super Late Models and PASS North Super Late Models will be released by November 1.  For more information please go to ProAllStarsSeries.com.

PASS announced last week that the biggest short track race on asphalt, the 43rdAnnual Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway in Maine will take the green on Sunday, August 28, 2016, paying $25,000 to the winner plus lap leader bonus money.

The Pro All Stars Series is recognized as North America's premier sanctioning body for asphalt Super Late Models and boasts such marquee events as the legendary Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway and PASS South's Easter Bunny 150 at the historic Hickory Motor Speedway.  For technical information concerning any PASS division, please send questions to passracing@roadrunner.com.  For media or marketing questions, please contact Alan Dietz at 704-231-2039 or alandietzpass@live.com.  Please visit ProAllStarsSeries.com for more information.  And, don't forget to "Like" the Pro All Stars Series on Facebook or follow PASS on Twitter @PASSSLM14 to keep up with breaking news as it happens.

The J&S Steel Modified division ran a pair of 50-lap extra-distance races to wrap up their championship schedule, with Morrisonville racer Jason Durgan taking the win in the opening round. Low-buck racer Speedy Bresette led the opening 14 laps before Durgan was able to make his way past and sail to his fourth win of the year. Late Model standout Bobby Therrien of Hinesburg, VT finished an impressive second in his first Modified race of the year, followed by Leon Gonyo – from 18th starting position – Heywood, and rookie Timex Morgan.

Heywood's score came in the nightcap as he put an exclamation point on his season. Bresette again led early before giving way to Greg Atkins on lap 21. Heywood took control just three circuits later, then cruised to the win and sealed up the title. Atkins finished second in the race, with Gonyo third for the second time on the night. Jamie LaFountain finished fourth with rookie Jamy Begor fifth.

Heywood became the first driver in Airborne Park Speedway's 62-year history to win four-straight championships. Between his opening-night win on May 2 and the 50-lap finale, Heywood compiled a record of 15 top-five finishes in 19 starts, and finished worse than ninth just once, on August 1.

"It's a heck of a feeling," Heywood said. "It makes all the hard work and effort worth it – but it's very stressful, I can tell you that," he said with a laugh.

Richie Turner of Fairfax, VT came out on top of a torrid points battle in the Key R-D Trailer Sales Renegade division for the second Airborne championship of his career, 11 years after his first title. Turner finished third in the 50-lap finale and had the best seat in the house for a thrilling fight for the win between Shawn Duquette and Dylan Rabtoy.

Duquette, of Morrisonville, raced in close formation with 16 year-old Rabtoy over the final dozen laps, then squeezed ahead to lead only the final two circuits. Rabtoy settled for second place, followed by Turner, Jason McClatchie, and Jimmy Bushey. Robert Gordon of Milton, VT finished second in the standings, just two points ahead of Duquette.

Chris LaVair of Gabriels celebrated the first championship of his long career in style, taking down a two-segment, 50-lap finale for the Busch Beer Mini-Modified division. LaVair played his part in the final chapter of the season-long "Chris & Kris Show" as he and Keeseville racer Kris Clark each won one of the 25-lap segments of the race. LaVair ended up as the overall winner and champion, with Clark second in both the race and point standings. Dale O'Neil finished third in the race followed by Tyler Irwin and Tim LaFountain.

Special 10-lap "Non-Winners Shootout" races completed the night's action for drivers who had not won a main event during the season. Plattsburgh's Speedy Bresette won the Modified race over Jamy Begor for his first-ever win, and Andrew Bordeau of Dannemora took the Renegade checkers ahead of rookie Tony Salerno. Rob Clark, Jr. of Keeseville won the Mini-Modified race over Pete Blaney.

Danny Sullivan of Morrisonville was named the Ernie's Discount Tools Rookie of the Year in the Modified class, with the same honors going to Michael Wright of Alburgh, VT in the Renegade division and Tanner Crary of Saranac Lake in the Mini-Modifieds.

Durgan's win entered him into a tie with Bucko Branham for the most Modified victories on the season, and the two will split a $500 cash bonus as co-champions of the Lenny's Shoe & Apparel "Hottest Shoe" Challenge for 2015. Three-time Renegade winners Turner and Josh Terry will share a $250 bonus, and Mini-Mod stars LaVair and Clark will split a $100 bonus with six wins each.

Airborne Park Speedway will formally honor its champions, top drivers, and special award winners at the Banquet of Champions, with details to be announced soon.
