NEW CYCLONE DIVISION TO DEBUT SATURDAY AT SPEEDWAY 51, LATE MODELS OFF

NEW CYCLONE DIVISION TO DEBUT

SATURDAY AT SPEEDWAY 51, LATE MODELS OFF

The highly anticipated debut of the new Cyclone division at Speedway 51 in Groveton, New Hampshire is set to take place this Saturday night, August 13th. This new four cylinder, front wheel drive car, or four cylinder pickup division is catching fire quickly as interest is very high.

"We have had a ton of inquiries about this new class stated mastermind, Jean Leblanc, organizer of the Cyclone division. This division is for basically bone stock vehicles with very few rules. Most rules are safety oriented, and we feel this is going to blow up to some great numbers this season. We have scheduled three races for this year, and hopefully expand it a little in 2017. We aren't looking to make it a weekly division, but six or seven races a year would be great."

This weekend' event will feature Scout Night where all Scouts in uniform will be admitted for free, plus there will be a Corvette Display Show. All Corvette owners that display their vehicle before the races will receive a free grandstand admission ticket, and have the option to parade their Vette at intermission, weather permitting.

Joining the Cyclones will be the Sign Depot Tigers, Schweppes Street Stocks, the AB Excavating Daredevils, and the White Mountain Community College Pure Stocks. The North Country Ford Late Models have the weekend off. The new post time is 6:30pm.

Don't forget the new teen admission pricing plan where all teenagers ages 13-16 get into the races for just $5. more information on this event and others please visit our website at www.speedway51int.com, or call the Track hotline at 802-479-2074. Speedway 51 is located on Brown Road in Groveton, New Hampshire.

Lee, South Boston On Tap For Busy PASS Weekend Of Action

Lee, South Boston On Tap For Busy PASS Weekend Of Action

-       For Immediate Release

NAPLES, ME (August 11) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Model racers up and down the East Coast will be busy at two of the premier circuits on the schedule this weekend.  New England's best will go head-to-head on Friday night at Lee USA Speedway in New Hampshire, while the PASS South stars will end their Summer break and return to action at Virginia's South Boston Speedway on Saturday night.

The Granite State will be the host for the PASS North Super Late Models and PASS Modifieds on Friday night at Lee USA Speedway in their final test prior to the 43rd Annual HP Hood Oxford 250 at the end of the month.  Granite State favorite, DJ Shaw, comes to Lee as the defending race winner and with a 50-point advantage over his nearest competitor for the championship, Mike Hopkins.  Fellow New Hampshire driver Jeremy Davis, who finished third at Lee last year, will be seeking his first win this season, along with former series champions, Johnny Clark and Mike Rowe.  Former HP Hood Oxford 250 winners, Ben Rowe and Travis Benjamin, will each be seeking their second wins of the season, while Todd Stone, Derek Griffith, and last year's runner-up, Derek Ramstrom, have also filed entries.

The following night, the South's original and toughest Super Late Model tour will be back from their Summer hiatus when PASS South tackles South Boston Speedway on Saturday.  Upstart Matt Craig leads the standings by just four markers over rookie Kodie Conner as they make the stretch run in hopes of their first PASS South title.  Likewise, Florida's Dalton Sargeant returns to South Boston Speedway Saturday night, still seeking his first PASS South win, but riding a wave of momentum after capturing his first ARCA checkered flag at Berlin Raceway last weekend.

"Its about time we headed back to South Boston Speedway, after picking up the pole award and then later getting rained out, the #Windows10, Bond Suss Racing team have had this race scheduled on our calendars for months," says Sargeant.  "We had a really good car last time here and have run up front in all of our PASS races so far this season.  It's going to be your typical, tough side-by-side, short track race with a really good field of Super Late Models.  It will definitely be an entertaining show for the fans and fun for us drivers."

Another driver who will be returning to the series this weekend at South Boston will be Dawsonville, GA's, Spencer Davis.  Since 2013 when Davis was the runner-up for the PASS South championship and finished third in PASS National Championship points, Davis has gone on to further prove himself as one of the top short track drivers in the country.  Davis is anxious to return to PASS this weekend as he seeks his first victory in the series.

"I'm really excited to get back into Gary Crooks' car this weekend at South Boston in the PASS race," says Davis.  "I've had success at South Boston in the past and Gary has too so we should be able to contend for the win.  I really enjoy racing with the Crooks Racing team as well as racing Tom Mayberry's series, so it should be a good weekend."

One of the strongest fields in recent history at South Boston Speedway is expected this weekend, including veteran Jimmy Doyle and the return of rookie Vinnie Miller.  David Gilliland Racing returns with two new drivers this weekend, Idaho's Hannah Newhouse and talented youngster Chase Purdy.  PASS National Championship contender John-Michael Shenette also returns as well as Tyler Ankrum, who will be making his second PASS South start of the season.

Action kicks off this weekend when the PASS North Super Late Models and PASS Modifieds hit the track for practice at Lee USA Speedway at 4 PM.  Heat races will begin at 6:30 PM, followed by features for the PASS North Super Late Models, PASS Modifieds, Late Model Sportsman, North East Classic Lites, Super Modifieds, Hobby and Ironman.

The PASS South Super Late Models will have an optional practice at South Boston Speedway on Friday from 9 AM to 5 PMOn Saturday, practice will begin at 2 PM, followed by qualifying at 5 PM, Fan Appreciation at 6 PM, and Twin 75s for the NASCAR Late Model Stocks and the 150 lap main event for the PASS South Super Late Models starting at 7 PM.

PASS Super Late Model entry forms for Lee USA Speedway and South Boston Speedway, along with the 43rd Annual HP Hood Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway, can be found at ProAllStarsSeries.com.

The Pro All Stars Series is recognized as North America's premier sanctioning body for asphalt Super Late Models and boasts such marquee events as the legendary HP Hood Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway and PASS South's Easter Bunny 150 at the historic Hickory Motor Speedway.  For technical information concerning all PASS divisions please send questions topassracing@roadrunner.com.  For media or marketing questions, please contact Alan Dietz at 704-231-2039 oralandietzpass@live.com.  And, don't forget to "Like" the Pro All Stars Series on Facebook or follow us on Twitter @PASSSLM14 to keep up with breaking news as it happens.

Tremont Wrecks, Wins on Wild “Whelen Wednesday” at Devil’s Bowl Speedway

Tremont Wrecks, Wins on Wild "Whelen Wednesday" at Devil's Bowl Speedway

Duprey by inches in Renegades; Conroy tops fun Mini Stock race

For Immediate Release                                                                                                                                                                                 DBS-081116-1

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Kenny Tremont Jr. narrowly escaped from a big pileup to win on the special "Whelen Wednesday" double-points Mid-Season Championship stock car event on the Dirt Track at Devil's Bowl Speedway on August 10.  In spite of major damage to his car, the seven-time Devil's Bowl champion ran to his second win of the season after a wild 35-lap race.  Bill Duprey and Chris Conroy also scored victories during the night, which was presented by NASCAR Whelen All-American Series title sponsor Whelen Engineering.

Three caution flags slowed the pace of the Central Vermont Motorcycles Sportsman Modified race in the first three laps.  Tremont, of West Sand Lake, N.Y., was involved in the most serious incident, which stacked his car up with those of top championship point drivers Justin Comes, Derrick McGrew, and rookie Justin Severance.  All but Comes were able to continue, though the body on Tremont's car was severely damaged.

Tremont marched forward through the field once racing resumed, aided in part by several more caution flags and a high attrition rate.  Race leader Brian Whittemore's fine effort was interrupted by a crash at lap 18, setting up a second-half duel between Tremont and point leader Bobby Hackel of Rensselaer, N.Y., that left fans roaring in approval.

The pair squared off in the final 17 circuits with Hackel challenging Tremont nearly every corner.  After the final caution flag on lap 33, an exciting green-white-checker sprint to the finish capped the race in style and Tremont scored his second Devil's Bowl win of the season and the 72nd of his career at the facility.  Hackel was second followed by a solid Tim LaDuc.  Severance recovered for a career-best fourth-place finish, with Vince Quenneville Jr. fifth.  Whittemore, Chad Miller, and McGrew were the only other drivers running at the finish.

Unofficially, Hackel retains his championship lead by just five points over Tremont, 400-395.  Tim LaDuc rides third 33 points back, followed by Quenneville and Severance.

Billy Duprey of Hydeville, Vt., extended his win streak to five in the Rosen & Berger Auto Recyclers Renegade division.  A short field of cars was not short on excitement, as Duprey made several side-by-side attempts to wrestle the lead away from Curtis Condon during the 15-lap race.  Only on the final lap was Duprey able to hold the inside line, and he beat Condon by inches as they traded paint out of the final corner.  Rookie Josh Bussino finished a close third.

Through six Renegade features in 2016, Duprey has won all five races that he was able to start and holds an unofficial 33-point lead for the championship over Condon, 357-324.  Bussino is third, six points behind Condon.

The Portland Glass Mini Stock division put together a memorable 15-lap race that showcased good competition and its share of funny moments.  As some cars dropped out and re-entered the race at a pace of nearly two cars per lap, Chris Conroy and Robert Garney put on a show up front.  Conroy, of Newport, N.H., held on for his second win of the season, followed by Garney, P.J. Bleau, Wayland Childs, and first-time dirt racer Kyle Watrous.

Conroy leads the Mini Stock championship race by nine points over Childs, 301-292.  Mike Ryan, Garney, and Jason Porter sit in positions 3-5.

Devil's Bowl Speedway is back in action with two nights of racing during the weekend of August 13-14.  The half-mile Asphalt Track runs on Saturday, August 13 at 7:00 p.m. with twin 25-lap Sportsman Modified features and three other weekly NASCAR divisions.  General admission on Saturday is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors (62+), $5 for teens (13-17), and free for kids age 12 and under, and all Heritage Family Credit Union members will receive free admission with proof of HFCU membership

The 3/10-mile Dirt Track races again on Sunday, August 14 at 6:00 p.m. as the winged Sprint Cars of New England return along with the three weekly NASCAR divisions.  Special general admission on Sunday is $15 for adults, $13 for seniors (62+), $5 for teens (13-17), and free for kids age 12 and under.

In addition, the "Tennessee Twister" monster truck will also be on hand both nights to give fans and spectators rides for just $5 per person.

Devil's Bowl Speedway is located on Route 22A in West Haven, Vt., four miles north of Exit 2 off of U.S. Route 4 and just 20 minutes from Rutland, Vt.  For more information, visit www.DevilsBowlSpeedwayVT.com or call (802) 265-3112.  Devil's Bowl Speedway is on Facebook at facebook.com/DevilsBowlSpeedway and on Twitter and Instagram at @DevilsBowlSpeed; follow the action using the #DevilsBowl hashtag.

Pinty's Series News & Notes: GP3R

Lapcevich Looks for Second Straight Win; Ranger Goes for No. 5

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Aug. 9, 2016) – After finally scoring his first NASCAR Pinty's Series win last month in Saskatoon, Josten's Rookie of the Year leader Cayden Lapcevich will try and score another win this Sunday in the Can-Am Le 50 Tours at Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres in Quebec.

If the teenager can pull off the win on the historic track, he would become the second rookie driver to win this race at Kevin Lacroix scored his second victory of the season in this event last year. Lacroix became the first driver to win two races in his first year of competition in 2015 and he joins Lapcevich in the ROY battle.

The Saint-Eustache, Quebec, driver won his first E3 Spark Plugs Pole Award during the recent western swing at Edmonton International Raceway and he'll join several of his fellow racers from his home province looking for a win.

Among them will be Alex Tagliani and Andrew Ranger. Ranger enters the weekend as the points leader with Lapcevich second. Ranger leads all competitors with four wins in the nine previous stops at GP3R.

Tagliani leads all drivers with three wins this season and is third in the standings despite missing the season opener to run the Indianapolis 500.

The GP3R is an annual festival in the city of Trois-Rivieres, nestled along the Saint-Laurent River in Quebec.

The uniqueness of the temporary street course circuit, combined with tremendous fan support, creates a high level of interest from Canadian racers and teams, making it a premiere event to win.

The NASCAR Pinty's Series loads in on Friday for inspection day and on-track activities will begin for the series with practice and qualifying on Saturday.

Fast Facts:

The Race: The Can-Am Le 50 Tours will be the seventh of 12 events on the 2016 NASCAR Pinty's Series schedule, and the third of four dates in the province of Quebec.

The Procedure: The maximum starting field is 34 cars, including provisionals. The first 29 cars will have secured starting positions through NASCAR Road Race style group qualifying and the remaining five spots will be awarded through the provisional process. The race is scheduled for 50 laps (76.5 miles/123 kilometers).

The Track: The temporary street course of Circuit de Trois-Rivieres is an 11-turn, 1.53-mile circuit. In Trois-Rivieres – differing from many road course tracks – the cars race in a counter-clockwise motion as on oval tracks. The track's trademark is the Porte Duplessis, a narrow concrete gateway the cars pass through in Turn 3.

The History: The Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres (GP3R) began in 1967 when racing-passionate members of the Club Autosport Mauricien decided to organize a race in the streets of the city. Inspired by the Monaco race, Mr. Jean E. Ryan, Leon Dufour and Yves Girard, plus a committee of about thirty people, organized the event that has now become a unique event in North America. It is the oldest street course in North America and this year is the 47th edition of the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres.

Pole Winners: The first nine Trois-Rivieres races have produced five different pole winners. Andrew Ranger set the series' circuit qualifying record in 2015 at 66.989 seconds (82.226 mph).

Race Winners: Andrew Ranger has won four of the nine all-time GP3R Pinty's Series events, including three in a row from 2008-10. Trois-Rivieres native L.P. Dumoulin won in 2014 and Kevin Lacroix is the defending race winner.

Babb Repeats at Beech Ridge in Coastal 100

Babb Repeats at Beech Ridge in Coastal 100

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                                                         ACT080716-72

Scarborough, ME – Brad Babb became the first ever multi-time American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model winner at Scarborough, ME's Beech Ridge Motor Speedway on Saturday, August 6, beating out rival Eddie MacDonald in the Coastal 100.

Windham, ME's Babb, who was returning to ACT action for the first time following an incident with MacDonald at Seekonk Speedway in July, got under the Rowley, MA driver as the two worked through lapped traffic on lap 61 and was never headed the rest of the way. It was Babb's first ACT Late Model Tour win of the season and second straight at Beech Ridge.

MacDonald started on the pole and led the first 21 laps. Babb got around him following a lap-20 caution for rookie Ryan Olsen's spin in turn four, only for MacDonald to grab the lead back on the race's second and final restart on lap 25 after Brandon Atkins went around exiting turn two.

But Babb didn't let MacDonald get away, dogging him as the two drove off from the field. Although Babb, looked to MacDonald's outside multiple times, MacDonald was able to hold him at bay until the two approached the lapped car of Bryan Mason on lap 61.

As MacDonald went to the outside entering turn three, Mason slipped up the track, allowing Babb to dart beneath. MacDonald shadowed Babb the rest of the event, making a final charge as the two worked through traffic in the closing circuits, but the former Beech Ridge Pro Series Champion would not be denied.

MacDonald settled for second, with Colchester, VT's Scott Payea completing the podium. ACT leader Nick Sweet finished fourth, but unofficially extended his lead over Payea to 16 points after a photo-finish win in his heat race. MacDonald unofficially sits 20 points behind Sweet with three races remaining on the ACT Late Model Tour schedule.

Defending ACT Champion Wayne Helliwell, Jr. rounded out the top-five after a back-and-forth battle with Dillon Moltz, who took sixth. Bobby Therrien ,Rich Dubeau, former Beech Ridge Champion Dave Farrington, Jr., and Rowland Robinson, Jr. completed the top-10.

The ACT Late Model Tour continues its Maine swing Saturday, August 27 at Oxford Plains Speedway. The winner of the 100-lap event will receive a guaranteed starting spot in the 43rd annual Oxford 250 the following day. Post time is 5:00pm.
