DID YOU KNOW?

  • Brian Hoar holds the ACT Late Model Tour record for championships (8) and wins (38).

  • RPM Motorsports will run a part-time schedule in 2013, including the first four ACT Late Model Tour events of the season and then select Late Model events throughout the summer and fall.

  • Brian Hoar has won back-to-back ACT Late Model Tour races seven times in his career, most recently taking consecutive events at Riverside Speedway in St. Croix, Que., and Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vt., on Aug. 25 and September 2 of 2012.

  • Brian Hoar plans to make a second consecutive appearance in the 25th anniversary of the Vermont City Marathon in Burlington, Vt., this coming Memorial Day weekend.

WHAT THEY ARE SAYING

BRIAN HOAR, Driver of the RPM Motorsports No. 37 GossCars.com Dodge Charger, On what has led to his Airborne Speedway success over the years: "It certainly doesn't hurt that I started out racing there, no question. I'm sure racing there for many years definitely helped. I won the track championship in 1999, and I spent a lot of Saturday nights at that place.

"When they paved it (in 2010), it changed things a little bit. It hasn't really changed the configuration if you were to look at the track from above, but the way you run the lines through the corners always changes a little bit with fresh pavement. But it's not a lot – it's still the same Airborne that it's been last 20 years. It's like any other race track – it's got its own little parts that are unique, but it's still go fast, turn left."

On if he views this weekend as a "test" for the inaugural International 500 at Airborne Speedway in July: "Yeah, absolutely. Because this is our one opportunity to run against other guys and see how we stack up against them, yeah this is it. This is the chance to get ready (for the International 500).

"It will be interesting to see who runs well there this weekend. Typically, the guys who run well there – Wayne (Helliwell) has been fast there, won the race last year that won the championship – are the guys that are fast everywhere. The usual suspects are going to be the same."

On if Airborne races differently in the spring than it does in the summer or fall: "Not a lot. It's probably more consistent than some tracks we go to. It's not as temperamental with weather changes as some places, like Thunder Road or some others. We are going to go through it a little bit this weekend – it will be warm in the afternoon when we first get started, then cool off a bit at night for the race.

"I'm looking forward to going racing this weekend. We'll see what happens from there."

The ACT Late Model Tour takes a weekend off before returning to action with the Riverside 150 at Riverside Speedway in Groveton, N.H., on Sunday, June 2.

I haven't done the points-racing thing in a while now, so I'm ready for it to start up again. Two months ago, two weeks ago, we were getting ready for some of the ACT (Late Model Tour_ races, but now it's time to starting thinking about this.

"This weekend is not about finishing first, it's about finishing and finishing toward the front and starting our chase for the championship. We definitely have to play it smart and make sure we get the most out of it. It definitely makes things more interesting."

On her mindset heading into Canaan's regular season: "This weekend, I have to really prepare myself. This could make or break my championship dream. I really have to go in and focus on having a great run. The reason we really want to run Canaan again is to have a shot at that championship."

On why the NASCAR championship at Canaan is so important to her: "This year is definitely about learning as much as I can, but one of the reasons we're going back to Canaan is a big one. It's to be able to contend for the championship.

"It's been my home track since I started in a Late Model. With all the other things we're doing between Thunder Road and the ACT Tour, it's important that we have pretty good results at Canaan and keep our confidence up."

PASS North Readies For Transcontinental Showdown At Autdrome Chaudiere

For Immediate Release

NAPLES, ME (May 15) – Throughout New England and the Canadian provinces, race fans have long argued which country had the best short track racers in North America, the United States or Canada?  Thanks to the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) and Quebec's Autodrome Chaudiere, 2013 could be the year that question is finally answered.

This weekend's Frameco 150 will kick off the first leg of the Autobus La Quebecoise Triple Crown at Autodrome Chaudiere.  The Autobus La Quececoise Triple Crown will feature a points fund totaling $30,000 to be awarded to the top 15 drivers who compete in all three events.  Additionally, all three races at Autodrome Chaudiere will count towards the overall PASS North Super Late Model Championship.

The Frameco 150 will be the first event held at Autodrome Chaudiere since the facility located in Valley Junction, Quebec was purchased by new owners Dany Lagace and Kevin Roberge.  Roberge has been a part-time competitor in the PASS North series for a number of years and believes Canadian fans are ready for the full fendered excitement they will see on Saturday.

"We have invested a lot of money into the track and welcome fans out to see the improvements we have made to the high-banked quarter mile," said Roberge, who plans to compete as well in the Frameco 150.  "The Canadian fans seem to really like the high horsepower race cars with wide tires that compete in the PASS series.  We're excited to get the Autobus La Quebecoise Triple Crown under way this weekend."

Hallowell, Maine's Johnny Clark has been a mainstay with PASS since New England's top Super Late Model tour first began back in 2001.  The 6-time PASS North Champion has gone on to be one of the most respected short track drivers in North America over the last decade.  Much of his success has come in Canada, capturing six of his 33 career PASS North wins "North Of The Border."  After a dismal start to the 2013 season, Clark hopes some of that Canadian magic will rear itself in the Frameco 150.

"You know, a lot of the racetracks in Canada are similar to where we race in New England and it has seemed to fit my style of driving," said Clark, a PASS North winner at Autodrome Chaudiere in 2011.  "The asphalt seems to be a little different compound than what we see at some other tracks and we have been able to adjust to it a little better than everyone else.  We've had a terrible start to the year and we're really focused on winning the Autobus Triple Crown.  What better way to get started than with a win this weekend."

The high stakes associated with the tremendous purse established by the Autobus La Qubecoise Triple Crown is attracting the best drivers from all over North America.  Kyle Busch will race in the second leg in August and, with a winner's share of $10,000 and an additional $20,000 up for grabs in guaranteed lap money, PASS South's Jay Fogleman and other Southern stars are planning to compete in the final leg of the Triple Crown in September.  With eyes focused on this weekend's Frameco 150, it is easy to see why so many are excited about the upcoming "border war."

"We're really proud to have the prestigious Triple Crown at Chaudiere and to have it sanctioned by PASS," said Roberge.  "PASS has established itself as the place to be in short track racing and we know the fans can't wait to see the best Americans racing against the best Canadians.  It's taken a lot of work to get here and I can't believe it's finally time."

Many of the best racers in Canada have already filed entries including Patrick Laperle, Martin Latulippe, Alexandre Gingras, Marc Andre Cliché, and Donald Theetge. Matt Matheson comes to Quebec from the Canadian Maritimes and will compete against more home province drivers like Steve Cote, Alex Laabe, and Eric St. Gelais.

PASS North's contingent of top American talent will be led by Johnny Clark and Ben Rowe, winners of an astonishing 10 titles between the two of them.  They will be joined by last year's champion, Travis Benjamin, widely regarded as one of the best when it comes to racing in Canada.  Through two races so far, Joey Doiron, Cassius Clark, and DJ Shaw have dominated the headlines and look to continue their momentum.  PASS North veterans Trevor Sanborn, Derek Ramstrom, Kelly Moore, Aaron Ricker, Scott Mulkern, and Richie Dearborn return as they look for an early season win.  Maine drivers Michael Landry, Corey Bubar, Curtis Gerry, and Chad Dow will make the trip North as well.

Action gets under way for the Frameco 150 on Saturday when pit gates open at10:30 AMrotating practice for the PASS North Super Late Models and support divisions will begin at 1:15 PMfollowed by qualifications at 5:45 PM and main event racing slated to begin at 7:10 PM.

PASS North Super Late Model entry forms for Autodrome Chaudiere and White Mountain Motorsports Park, PASS South Super Late Model entry forms for Caraway Speedway and the 40th Annual TD Bank 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway can be found at ProAllStarsSeries.com.

The Pro All Stars Series is recognized as North America's premier sanctioning body for asphalt Super Late Models and boasts such marquee events as the PASS Northwest Triple Crown at Wenatchee Valley Super Oval, PASS South's Easter Bunny 150 at the historic Hickory Motor Speedway, the Autobus La Qubecoise Triple Crown at Autodrome Chaudiere, and the legendary TD Bank 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway. For technical information concerning all PASS divisions please contact Scott Reed at207-625-3230 or scottreedpass@yahoo.com.  For media or marketing questions, please contact Alan Dietz at 704-231-2039 or alandietzpass@live.com.  Please visitProAllStarsSeries.com for more information and don't forget to "Like" the Pro All Stars Series on Facebook to keep up with breaking news as it happens.
