Payea/Moltz title fight continues at Seekonk

Payea/Moltz title fight continues at Seekonk

Payea after fourth straight win to pad point lead

For Immediate Release                                                             ACT-070617-1

SEEKONK, MA – The American Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Models return to Seekonk Speedway Saturday, July 15 for what could be considered Round 5 of the Scott Payea – Dillon Moltz title fight.

Payea, driver of the Harrison Redi-Mix No. 37, has won the last three ACT events -at Devil's Bowl, Thunder Road and White Mountain - but his lead in the championship standings is a mere eight points (459-451).

Moltz won the season opener at Lee USA Speedway in the RB Performance/Brackett Mechanical No. 3. It was the second ACT career win for the Waterford, Conn. driver. He's had three podium finishes, 2nd, 3rd, 2nd, since.

Payea took over the reins for car owner Rick Paya when eight-time ACT champion Brian Hoar retired after the 2015 season. His latest win at White Mountain was the 11th of his ACT career.

In 2008, while fielding his own team, he fell one point shy of champion Patrick Laperle. One year earlier, he was the runner-up to Jean-Paul Cyr.

In the midst of a dustup at the front between Eddie MacDonald and Brad Babb, Payea came away with the win at last year's Seekonk event.

"We're just looking to keep up our momentum," Payea said. "We need to continue to have strong races. Seekonk is a good little track that can be racy.  If you can run the outside, you can pass a bunch of cars there."

"We're excited as a team to get back to Seekonk," Moltz said. "We finished 2nd there last year. As a driver, I have always loved racing there.  Considering last year's results, I think we have something good to build off of."

This year's Seekonk Speedway event Saturday, July 15 is set for 100 green flag laps. Also in action – Northeastern Midget Association (NEMA) Lites and Seekonk's Pro Stock, Sportsman and Sport Trucks NASCAR weekly divisions. Qualifying heats begin at 6 p.m.

About Adam Andretti:

Andretti's racing career started in 1994 at the age of 15 with the help of his brother John, who helped Adam obtain a ride in the new half-scale Mini Cup Stock Car series, driving for Terry Lingner of Lingner Group Productions at the Velodrome in Indianapolis. He showed promise by winning four races in 1995 and finishing fourth in the series championship. After his stint in the Mini Stocks, Andretti raced karts. His brother Mark bought him a 125cc shifter kart and they raced for the next two years in the SKUSA series. In 1998, he finished second at the Formula C World Karting Championship held in Charlotte, North Carolina. He also ran in the 24 Hours of Daytona, an event sanctioned by the Grand American Road Racing Association.

In 2000, Andretti drove the #12 car in the short-lived United States Formula 3Championship for Duesenberg Brothers Racing. He won a race and finished third in the series points championship. Then in 2001 and 2002, he drove in NASCAR's Featherlite Southwest Series. In 2003, Andretti drove a Corvette at Sebring Raceway in the SPEED World Challenge Series. He drove in the 2004 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona.

Since then, he has served as a racing instructor for several magazine publications and some driving schools, including The Mid-Ohio School.

Andretti made his Indy Pro Series debut at Chicagoland Speedway on September 9, 2007. In 2008 Adam and his wife Tabitha operated a dirt sprint car team with businessman John Edwards. Adam would drive in 12 total races with a best finish of 4th.

In 2014 he began regularly competing in the TA2 class of the Trans Am Series. In his first season of TA2 competition Adam found himself in the mix of a yearlong championship battle that went down to the last round in Daytona. While he came up short on the title his numerous victories and pole positions earned him Rookie of the Year honors. The next season would prove to be almost a repeat of his rookie campaign. Coming just 6 points shy of Championship honors in the 2015 TA2 Trans Am Championship. He still enjoys competing in select TA2 events with ECC Motorsports and looks forward to more racing opportunities as they present themselves.

CCV Night to Become “Championship Night” at Thunder Road

CCV Night to Become "Championship Night" at Thunder Road

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                                                         TR070517-30

Barre, Vt. – Thunder Road officials have announced that the previously postponed Community College of Vermont Night event has been rescheduled for Friday, September 8 at 7:00pm. The event was originally slated for Thursday, June 29 before being delayed twice due to rain.

As a result of the rescheduling, the event will now be the final point-counting event of the season for each of the track's weekly divisions. The Thunder Road Late Models, Lenny's Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, and Allen Lumber Street Stocks will all crown their 2017 champions on CCV Championship Night.

"With the event already having been delayed twice, the opportunity was there for us to take a different approach with the make-up date," Thunder Road co-owner Cris Michaud said. "There will certainly be a lot of drama that night with all three division titles up for grabs. We think the fans are in for a great show."

Thunder Road will be back in action on Thursday, July 6 at 7:00pm with Premium Mortgage Night. A full night of racing is scheduled for the Thunder Road Late Models, Lenny's Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, and Allen Lumber Street Stocks as the season nears the halfway mark. The event will also feature the annual Marvin Johnson Memorial Non-Winners Event for Street Stock drivers looking to capture their first win on the Barre high banks. The pits open at 4:00pm and the front gates open at 5:15pm. Admission is $12 for adults, $3 for kids ages 6-12, and $25 for a family of four (2 adults, 2 kids).

Super DIRTcar Series Ready For Airborne

Super DIRTcar Series Ready For Airborne

PLATTSBURGH – For the first time in Super DIRTcar Series history, the Big Block Modifieds will take to the Airborne Park Speedway dirt oval on Thursday, July 6 for the "Northline Utilities 100."

In addition to the Super DIRTcar Series invaders, some Airborne Egglefield Ford 358 Modified regulars are expected to put their machines to the test. Current point leader and three-time winner in 2017, Chris Raabe, plans to campaign his St. Lawrence Radiology, Genesis Racing Shocks, Mike Sauve Construction, Husqvarna 358 Modified.

"It always fun to run against that level with the top guys on the series," Raabe said. "We don't have high expectations on Thursday, we will look to use it as a test session for our program."

Raabe has already found success with his 358 Modified in series races in Canada. Raabe picked up a win at Cornwall Motor Speedway back in 2012. In addition, he also has a 4th place finish at Cornwall, a 3rd place finish at Brockville and a 5th place finish at Le RPM Speedway.

"We're really gonna need the track to slick off to have a chance against the Big Blocks, they should really wear out the track on entry because of their power," Raabe added.

The Super DIRTcar Series brings the best drivers in the northeast and is sure to put on a fantastic show. Series regulars include five-time and defending champion, Matt Sheppard, three-time champion, Billy Decker, eight-time champion, Brett Hearn, five-time champion, Alan Johnson and more.

In the most recent event at the Utica-Rome Speedway, an on-track incident landed Sheppard a seven day suspension that he is likely to appeal. With twelve laps remaining in the race, Larry Wight made contact with Sheppard on the backstretch that launched Wight's car in the air and sent Sheppard spinning. When their cars came to a halt, both drivers exited their cars and became tangled in turn three.

The current unofficial point totals for the Super DIRTcar Series pins Decker in first, 21 points ahead of Friesen and Hearn. Sheppard and Wight are listed fourth and fifth, respectively.

Six events have been run this season with five different drivers collecting a checkerd flag. Decker has two wins and is the only repeat winner this season. Sheppard, Friesen, Ryan Watt and Tim McCreadie have each won a series race this season.

The Fidelis Care Sportsman and Busch Beer Mini-Mods will also be on hand to fill out Thursday's racing card. The event will be a regular points race for both divisions.

Post time for the event is 7 p.m. with grandstands opening at 4:30. Ticket prices are $25 for adults with kids ages 12 and under free of charge.

Pit sign-in will open at 2:30 and the pit gate will open at 3:00. Pit prices are $30 for DIRTcar License Members and $40 for Non-Licensed Members.

For more information and to stay up to date visit airborneparkspeedway.com or on Facebook at Airborne Park Speedway.
