- RPM Speedway de Saint-Marcel. Nous vous attendons en grand nombre comme ce fut le cas depuis le début de cette fabuleuse saison au RPM Speedway ce samedi 15 août 2015.

Modifiés (2 x 40 tours)

David Hébert #ONE et Mario Clair #22C sont à égalité avec 35 points sur Dominic Dufault #63. On a l'impression de faire un retour en arrière. Par contre, Sébastien Gougeon frappe à la porte des trois premiers de sa 4ème position. Gougeon #44 a éprouvé un bris de suspension à Drummondville samedi dernier qui lui coûte cher en terme de points de championnat. Son équipe et lui sont prêts à la reprise des hostilités. Simon Perreault #47 gagne en expérience et connaît une bonne saison au RPM où il est cinquième dans le classement. Perreault a terminé 9ème à la course de Cornwall dimanche dernier, une belle pratique sur circuit court pour ce samedi. Cette course compte parmi celles de début de série Dirt. Jusqu'à maintenant David Hébert #ONE en a remporté 4 alors que Mario Clair #22C et Steve Bernier #25 en ont gagné une. Ça revêt de l'importance pour ce dernier qui suit la série Dirt 358 cette année.

Lightning Sprint (20 tours)

Guillaume Neiderer #51 occupe maintenant le premier rang du classement de la série devant Alex Therrien #21 et Jordan Poirier #28 qui poursuivent leur lutte entamée au jour 1 de la saison. Éric Sundborg #16 est désormais 4ème devant Benjamin Mathieu #75 qui connaît sa meilleure saison depuis ses débuts en saison régulière il y a deux ans. Tomy Moreau #22 aussi étonne par sa présence au 6ème rang alors qu'il figurait parmi les recrues de l'an dernier.

Mod Lite (20 tours)

Kevin Burke #91 poursuit son règne avec une confortable avance de 35 points sur Richard Tessier #85 dans le cumul. Martin Fleurent #52 y est troisième sur la même position où il a terminé en 2014. Éric Désilets #28 est 4ème devant la performante recrue Benjamin Cartier #22B.

Enduro (20 tours)

Éric Piette #71 cède sa voiture à son paternel Michel qui n'a pas piloté depuis 30 ans. Manuel Piette #141 et Claude Piette #14 ont aussi manifesté leur présence. Voyons si comme le vélo, ça ne se perd pas ! Marco Lainesse #88 et son neveu Patrick #59 tenteront d'aller chercher une première victoire au RPM; Patrick venant pour la première fois et Marco, la seconde fois. Kim Alex #72 sera aussi des nôtres. Normand Voghell #3 voudra prendre sa revanche de la victoire perdue à Granby le 31 juillet dernier. Enfin si Pierre Lemonde obtient une pièce manquante qu'il attend, sa camionnette #48 sera aussi de la partie !

Kart (6 tours)

Trois classes régulières seront présentes : Junior, Open et 6,5 ainsi que la série des tracteurs CTGQ Open. Tommy Hamel #11 nous avait montré son talent l'an passé en gagnant dans plus d'une catégorie au RPM Speedway. Hamel n'a rien perdu de sa vigueur : il est actuellement premier dans les classements Open et 6,5. Dans les Open, il devance Benoit Courchesne #99 et Pierre-Olivier Trudel #20 deux visages connus de la terre battue. Chez les 6,5, Tommy a le dessus sur Jean-François Niquette #13L et Jonathan Lévesque #32. En Junior, Jérémy Roy #90 déjà titré champion l'an passé à sa première année de course est encore au sommet du cumul. Vincent Berthiaume #51 le suit de près avec 9 points d'écart alors que William Racine #35 et Mérika Dion ont un peu plus de chemin à faire à égalité en 3ème position.

Trois-Rivières (Québec, Canada), le 12 août 2015 – La ténacité définit bien l'attitude de Jean-François Dumoulin depuis le début de la saison et c'est avec autant de détermination que Jean-François Dumoulin sera au volant la Dodge #04 Bernier Crépeau / Bellemare / MIA, sur le circuit ovale du Riverside International Speedway, Antigonish, Nouvelle-Écosse, pour la première fois ce samedi 15 août. C'est course après course que Jean-François Dumoulin avance dans la saison, chaque fois grâce à l'appui de partenaires qui croient en son potentiel, l'objectif premier étant de cumuler les tours de piste et de se familiariser avec l'ensemble des circuits pour revenir en force l'an prochain.

« Sans le support de nos partenaires, je n'en serais pas là aujourd'hui. Le pilotage sur circuit ovale va de mieux en mieux et je suis vraiment reconnaissant de pouvoir participer à plus de courses que prévu au départ [seulement six épreuves avaient été confirmées en début de saison]. Nous sommes actuellement neuvièmes au classement et nous souhaitons nous rapprocher du top-5 », explique Jean-François Dumoulin.

Considérée comme la réplique du célèbre Bristol Motor Speedway (Bristol, Tennessee, États-Unis), la piste du Riverside International Speedway (Antigonish, Nouvelle-Écosse) est reconnue pour son inclinaison prononcée. Éric Laperle, chef d'équipe et les équipiers #04 Bernier Crépeau / Bellemare / MIA devront de nouveau relever le défi des arrêts aux puits.

Lors du banquet annuel 2015



Intronisation d'Alex Tagliani au Temple de la renommée du sport motorisé canadien


Le pilote de course Alex Tagliani est au nombre des quatre Canadiens qui seront honorés lors du Banquet annuel d'intronisation au Temple de la renommée du sport motorisé canadien qui se tiendra le 17 octobre 2015 au Studio Glen Gould de l'édifice de la Société Radio-Canada à Toronto.


Outre Tagliani, les autres sélectionnés sont Ralph Luciw, John Chisholm et Don Thompson Jr. ainsi que le triple champion du monde de Formule 1 Sir Jackie Stewart. Ce dernier sera intronisé à titre de membre de la section internationale du Temple de la renommée.


« C'est un honneur d'ajouter les noms de ces quatre grands du sport motorisé à titre de membres du Temple de la renommée du sport motorisé canadien, a souligné Hugh Scully, président de l'organisation.Le sport motorisé canadien a bénéficié grandement de leur dévouement et de leur contribution au cours des années, et le Temple de la renommée du sport motorisé canadien bénéficiera de l'ajout de ces personnalités à la suite de leur intronisation officielle en octobre. »


Lors de la réception qui suivra l'intronisation, les personnalités honorées se joindront aux membres du Temple de la renommée, aux amateurs et aux célébrités invitées, et un encan silencieux se tiendra dans le hall d'entrée du théâtre.

Alex Tagliani, un résident de Lachenaie au Québec, est intronisé dans la catégorie compétiteur. Tag a effectué tout un parcours depuis son initiation au sport automobile lors d'un voyage en Italie alors qu'il était âgé de 10 ans. Depuis, Alex a presque tout essayé en sport automobile, incluant sa dernière sortie en Rallycross à Trois-Rivières le week-end dernier, et il s'est toujours battu pour les grands honneurs. Après avoir remporté 10 championnats amateurs dans sa jeunesse, il a été sélectionné par l'équipe de développement des pilotes Player's comme titulaire d'un volant d'une voiture Player's dans la série Atlantique en 1997. Il est passé à la série Champ Car en 2000, participant depuis ce temps à 203 courses en 16 ans, soit en ChampCar ou en IndyCar.


En 2009, Tagliani a été nommé recrue de l'année au Indianapolis 500, et deux ans plus tard, il est devenu le premier Canadien à décrocher la pole position lors de ce prestigieux événement. Toujours actif aux plus hauts échelons du sport motorisé, il continue d'impressionner. Le 20 juin dernier, il est devenu le premier pilote de la série NASCAR Canadian Tire à prendre un tour à tous ses rivaux lors de la course présentée sur l'ovale du Sunset Speedway à Innisfil, Ontario.


Ralph Luciw, né à Regina en Saskatchewan, mais aujourd'hui domicilié à Uxbridge, Ontario, est intronisé à titre de compétiteur et bâtisseur. Grâce à son travail, on peut dire qu'il a été un joueur important dans le développement de nouveaux pilotes qui ont été initiés à la course automobile en série Honda Michelin à la fin des années 70. Auparavant, il avait participé à des courses de montagne et à des épreuves de rallye.


Luciw a également planché au bureau des relations média du circuit routier de Mosport (aujourd'hui connu sous le nom de Canadian Tire Motorsport Park) s'impliquant dans la venue des championnats Can-Am, Formule 1 et Rothman's Porsche sur le circuit ontarien. En 1987, le Club de sport automobile canadien (CASC) a honoré Luciw en lui remettant le trophée John Reid pour sa contribution exceptionnelle dans le développement du sport automobile canadien.


John Chisholm, d'Antigonish en Nouvelle-Écosse, est décédé en 2014. Il est intronisé à titre posthume de compétiteur et bâtisseur. Chisholm était un mordu du stock-car. Il est reconnu pour avoir mis les Maritimes sur la carte en ce qui concerne le stock-car. Il a été l'un des architectes du circuit Riverside International Speedway, ouvert en 1969, et qui sera le théâtre ce samedi de la neuvième étape de la série NASCAR Canadian Tire.


Don Thompson Jr., d'Ayer en Ontario, est également intronisé à titre de compétiteur, bâtisseur et de préparateur. Thompson a été un pilote exceptionnel, remportant cinq titres consécutifs de 2001 à 2005 dans la défunte Super série CASCAR (aujourd'hui la série NASCAR Canadian Tire). En 1999 et 2000, il a été couronné champion de l'Est du Canada. Il avait également été nommé recrue de l'année CASCAR en 1991. Thompson a été plus qu'un pilote, il a également été l'un des meilleurs préparateurs, travaillant entre autres avec Fitzpatrick Motorsport. Il a été le premier titulaire de la série NASCAR Canadian Tire en 2007. Il a pris sa retraite en 2011.

Analyzing The Wounded Warriors Canada 300 At Riverside International Speedway

 

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Aug. 12, 2015) – The 2015 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 season will continue with the Wounded Warriors Canada 300 on Saturday at Riverside International Speedway in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Below is a statistical look at the performance of the series and selected drivers at the track:

 

Wounded Warriors Canada 300 Setup:

·        Antigonish's own Donald Chisholm is the defending winner of the Wounded Warriors Canada 300. He was victorious from the pole in last year's event at Riverside International Speedway, a track owned by his family.

·        Mark Dilley is the only driver to finish in the top 10 in each of the eight all-time NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 races at Riverside. He won 2007's inaugural event.

·        Scott Steckly leads Andrew Ranger by just six points with three races remaining on the schedule while Jason Hathaway is 10 points out. All three have won before at Riverside.

 

At Riverside International Speedway:

History

·        Opened in 1969 as a .333-mile scaled version of Tennessee's .533-mile Bristol Motor Speedway.

·        Played host to the former NASCAR North Tour in the early 1980s.

·        Was completely rebuilt in 2006.

·        Mark Dilley won the inaugural NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 race at Riverside on Sept. 16, 2007. Peter Gibbons captured the first Riverside pole.

 

Notebook

·        The previous eight events have produced seven different race victors, led by D.J. Kennington's two triumphs.

·        There have been five different pole winners in eight events, topped by three from Scott Steckly.

·        Four drivers have participated in all eight previous events, and all are expected to extend the streak this week.

Other Driver Notes

·        John Flemming will join Chisholm as the Nova Scotia natives on the entry list. Flemming has two previous NCATS starts, both at Riverside.

 

Up To Speed:

·        The 2015 season is the ninth for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1.

·        The 2015 schedule features 11 races at 10 different tracks across five provinces.

·        Rookie Gary Klutt won the season-opening Pinty's presents the Clarington 200 from the pole at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on May 17.

·        Jason Hathaway reached Budweiser 300 Victory Lane for the second year in a row at Autodrome Chaudiere on June 13.

·        Alex Tagliani earned his first NCATS oval victory on June 20 when he won the inaugural Sunset Speedway event.

·        Kevin Lacroix reached Victory Lane in just his second NCATS appearance when he won at Circuit ICAR on July 5.

·        The western swing began on July 11 at Edmonton International Raceway with Scott Steckly winning in wire-to-wire fashion, a series first in an oval event.

·        Steckly completed his western swing sweep as he won from the pole on July 15 at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway.

·        Andrew Ranger extended his streak for years with a win to nine with his first career victory at Autodrome St-Eustache on July 25.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East heads to Pennsylvania for the its inaugural race at Motordrome Speedway in Smithton on Saturday. Below is a statistical look at the series and drivers.


UPMC Health Plan 150:

•  Saturday's night event will mark the series' first visit to Motordrome Speedway.
•  William Byron continues to lead the standings, but Scott Heckert trails by only 14 points.
•  The race will air on NBCSN on Thursday, August 20th at 7 p.m. ET.


Motordrome Speedway:

History:

• Has been a NASCAR sanctioned track since 1990.
• Charlie Cragan, Steve Peles, Glenn Gault, Jeff Dunmyer and Richard Mitchell all won NASCAR Northeast Region championships the inaugural year.
• It opened as a half-mile dirt track in 1972 and was paved in 1989.

Fresh Faces:
