The Super Series Launches Its 2020 Revised Schedule

The Super Series Launches Its 2020 Revised Schedule

Shannonville (ON), May 25, 2020 – RACE Events Inc. is pleased to launch the 2020 revised calendar of the Super Series, the regional and most popular motorcycle racing series. Based on its originally planned calendar, the Super Series (formerly known as RACE) will hold three racing events and a test weekend, starting June 5, 2020.

As the Ontario COVID-19 restrictions slowly decrease, motorsports organizations were able to reopen and resume their activities.  Since the restrictions currently in place have a direct impact on how a race weekend timetable will be structured, patience and creativity are amongst the many qualities the team will need in order to conquer this challenge. The best strategy at this point will be to plan one event at the time.

Revised Schedule 2020
Friday, June 5 – Test Day
Saturday, June 6 – PreSeason Racing School
Sunday, June 7 – Test Day

Round 1 – July 17-19
Round 2 – August 21-13
Round 3 – September 18-20

With the strong determination of giving a face-lift to the series, Dominique Bondar, General Manager of RACE Events brings to the team a vast knowledge of racing and has assembled a team that will help her achieve her goal.  The PreSeason Racing School will also be managed by the team.

Louey Jabouri – Race Director
Taking on the role of Race Director, Louey brings a wealth of racing knowledge to the team with decades of experience in both motorcycle and car racing. As a former competitor in both fields, Louey is a perfect fit to lead the events as he has a deep understanding of the distinctiveness of motorcycle racing.

David Grummett – Technical Director
David possesses all the qualities needed to be part of this team as Technical Director.  With over 30 years of experience as a riding instructor and many more as a competitor himself, he has won two Eastern Canada and one National Pro championships in addition to the Yamaha Cup track record at Shannonville. David was part of the series back in 1986 teaching the racing school and will be back at it again this year. Today, his professional life forces him to orbit around the motorcycle sphere and helps reveal his profound passion for that industry.

Jill Grummett – Chief Timing & Scoring
Jill, by accepting to take the role of the Chief Timing & Scoring, closes a long loop in the history of the series. Formerly managing the series herself and taking on almost all the responsibilities that came with the job, Jill comes back with a unique knowledge and tangible and very contagious enthusiasm.

Trevor Lamas – Official
Trevor joins the new team, bringing his years of experience as a series official. Trevor is also a series official with CTCC and has been for the past 8 years. He brings with him knowledge of different racing disciplines like drifting and open wheels.

William Kowalczyk - Official
Pro racer William Kowalczyk comes on board as Technical Scrutineer. New to the role of official, William wanted to help and stay involved.  This is a good example of what racers can do to give back to the sport. He is a perfect fit to take on what we hope will become a busy schedule.

Don Empey – Media Director
Continuing as Media Director will be Don Empey who has covered the Super Series since 2004.  He has a vast knowledge of the series and with his fantastic personality was able to grow great relationships with the competitors over the years.

Anaïs Grenier-Chayer – Registrar
Anaïs is the first person the competitors will meet as she takes on the duty of registrar. Anaïs brings to the team a youthful exuberance and commitment to streamline the registration process. Much of the process will be modernized to web-based application.

Mohawk Int’l Raceway: DIRTcar Track Spotlight

Mohawk Int'l Raceway: DIRTcar Track Spotlight

Posted: 13 May 2020 11:21 AM PDT

HOGANSBURG, NY – On the land of the Mohawk Nation at Akwesasne sits one of the finest DIRTcar facilities in the Northeast, Mohawk Int'l Raceway. The smooth, wide track with excellent lighting and grandstands provide a premier race experience for both competitors and race fans.

DIRTcar sanctions Hoosier Racing Tire Weekly Championship DIRTcar 358 Modifieds and Sportsman Modifieds at Mohawk which attracts top-flight talent from both New York and Canada. In addition to the track's point fund, each DIRTcar driver will have an opportunity to take home another check at the banquet in November.

Some of the best DIRTcar 358 Modified drivers in the North Country battle it out on this border town track. Last year, Chris Raabe, the 29-year-old driver from Alexandria, ON, won the track championship over star drivers such as second-place points-getter Michael Maresca. Maresca is a threat to win anywhere he races including when he races with the Super DIRTcar Series.

Down the line, DIRTcar 358 Modified Series contender Lance Willix, another second-generation driver Louie Jackson Jr., plus the legendary Watertown, NY native Tim Fuller are all regulars in the Mohawk pits.

Tim Fuller is one of the all-time best around the Frogtown oval. In 2018 Fuller set the single-season win record with 10 trips to Victory Lane. Rain forced the schedule down to only 15 races and Fuller never finished lower than third to secure his second consecutive track championship.

On Monday, July 13 the DIRTcar 358 Modified Series hits the four-tenths of a mile semi-banked high-speed oval for a crucial points-paying tour stop. Last year, Super DIRTcar Series champion Mat Williamson powered his way to the win in the series race, getting the jump on the best North Country drivers in the business.

The 358 Series returns on September, 18 for the final round of action before NAPA Super DIRT Week kicks off at Utica-Rome Speedway. The points gathered at Mohawk are vital for going into the Super DIRT Week stretch of four races in five days in October.

Not to be outdone, the DIRTcar Sportsman Modified drivers at Mohawk put on a phenomenal show every Friday night. NAPA Super DIRT Week Chevy Performance 75 winner in 2018 Shane Pecore won the track championship last year ahead of rivals Thomas Cook, Zach Arquett, Brianna Ladouceur, and Ben Wheeler.

On September 19, the DIRTcar Sportsman North Region and Pro Stock Series makes a stop making for an action-packed fall weekend to bring down the curtain on the 2020 season.

The North Region for the DIRTCar Sportsman Series also will have a special Thursday event on June 25. It'll be tough rowing for Series regulars against the best of Mohawk's Hoosier Racing Tire Weekly Championship roster.

Mohawk Int'l was born in 1987 as Frogtown International Speedway as a vision from Dennis White to build a race track on his hometown reservation.

The speedway is right on the border of the US and Canada on New York State's northern border. Cornwall, Ontario is direct across from the St. Lawrence River. Cornwall Motor Speedway races DIRTcar 358 Modifieds and Sportsman every Sunday.

On your trip, stop at the Frederic Remington Art Museum and peer into the American West with incredible paintings, sketches, and sculptures. It's a great place to stop with the family.

For wine lovers, the River Myst Winery is a great escape to treat your partner during your racing weekend.

The 2020 Mohawk Int'l Raceway schedule has not been released but make sure to bookmark Mohawk's website and follow them on social media on Twitter and Facebook for updates.

NASCAR and IMG ARENA Announce Global Sports Betting Initiatives

NASCAR and IMG ARENA Announce Global Sports Betting Initiatives

 IMG ARENA To Unveil First-Ever NASCAR Virtual Sports Betting Product;

IMG ARENA To Offer NASCAR Streaming Rights to International Sports Betting Operators

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (May 20, 2020) – NASCAR® and IMG ARENA, a leading sports betting service and content hub, announced today that IMG ARENA has licensed official assets to create a virtual sports betting game that replicates some of NASCAR's most iconic tracks, including Daytona International Speedway, Talladega Superspeedway and Watkins Glen International. The virtual product, created by Leap Gaming*, will be offered to sports betting operators around the world. This deal expands IMG ARENA's growing portfolio of virtual sports betting products, which now includes tennis, football, cycling, horse racing, speedway racing and greyhound racing.

Additionally, NASCAR and IMG ARENA have formed a long-term partnership that will provide international sports betting operators the ability to live-stream NASCAR Cup Series races for the first time. Cars returned to the track on May 17th at Darlington Raceway, and the remaining 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season will be available to betting operators outside of the U.S. and Canada.

"IMG ARENA is the leading partner for global sports and entertainment media. We are excited to work together to provide a global audience the ability to engage with our sport virtually and in real-time," said Scott Warfield, Managing Director of Gaming, NASCAR. "The international sports gaming landscape is mature and vibrant, and this partnership allows us to offer compelling products that further enhance our international footprint."

"Adding NASCAR to our client roster is a proud achievement. The brand is renowned in sport and entertainment with the high-octane race series providing must-watch, appointment-viewing content for more than 70 years," said Freddie Longe, Executive Vice President and Managing Director at IMG ARENA. "The partnership significantly bolsters our streaming and official virtual sports offering with a product that we expect to be popular in a number of different markets."

This partnership comes on the heels of an announcement made earlier this year introducing Penn National Gaming as NASCAR's first authorized gaming operator in the United States. The partnership centered around a free-to-play, mobile game named NASCAR Finish Line, which offers users the chance to win a $25,000 jackpot every race.

Headquartered in London, IMG ARENA works with more than 460 leading sportsbook operators worldwide, providing always-on services including 24/7 live streaming and on-demand virtual sports products designed to evolve and inspire engagement by placing fans at the heart of the action. Its ground-breaking data collection system ensures that the fastest and most accurate sources of data are delivered live from the action to the end user in less than a second.

In the past year, NASCAR announced a series of agreements to prepare the industry and its fans for the rapidly growing sports betting landscape in the U.S., including its first authorized gaming operator, an exclusive data partnership, an integrity partner to safeguard and protect the sport, and unique content deals. Furthermore, the sanctioning body granted all teams and tracks the ability to sell marketing sponsorships to sports betting companies and licensed sportsbooks.

Catch the NASCAR Cup Series tonight, Wednesday, May 20, in the Toyota 500 from Darlington Raceway at 6 p.m. ET live on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

*IMG ARENA has been an investor in Leap Gaming since 2018. The two companies have a shared vision of developing official virtual content for federations such as NASCAR.

The NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Series and the ARCA Menards Series will all see action in the newly released schedule.

NASCAR had previously announced that Darlington Raceway and Charlotte Motor Speedway would host the first two weeks of racing following a two-month stoppage of action due to the COVID-19 outbreak. "We are eager to expand our schedule while continuing to work closely with the local governments in each of the areas we will visit. NASCAR Honors Healthcare Workers in First Race Back withThe Real Heroes 400 at Darlington Raceway

NASCAR Honors Healthcare Workers in First Race Back with

The Real Heroes 400 at Darlington Raceway

NASCAR Cup Series Racing Returns on May 17 on FOX

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (May 14, 2020) – As NASCAR returns to the racetrack for the first time in more than two months, the sport will honor frontline healthcare workers in The Real Heroes 400 at Darlington Raceway on Sunday, May 17 at 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX.

The special NASCAR Cup Series race entitlement at Darlington Raceway follows the launch of The Real Heroes Project, a collaborative initiative by 14 sports leagues including NASCAR to recognize and pay tribute to medical professionals serving on the front lines in the fight against COVID-19.

"As the coronavirus challenges our country in unprecedented ways, the frontline healthcare workers – the nurses, paramedics, emergency physicians and many others – continue to inspire us with their strength and bravery in caring for their fellow Americans," said Jill Gregory, NASCAR executive vice president and chief marketing and content officer. "These men and women are the real heroes and the NASCAR industry is incredibly proud to honor their selflessness and service as we return to racing on Sunday."

Through a collaboration with NASCAR, FOX Sports and the race teams, each driver's name will be replaced above the driver-side window with the name of an individual healthcare worker currently battling the coronavirus pandemic. In addition, The Real Heroes Project logo will be displayed on the side panel of each racecar.

The healthcare workers honored on the cars, selected in part by local FOX affiliates from cities across the country, will serve as grand marshals for The Real Heroes 400 and appear in an on-air mosaic to simultaneously give the command for drivers to start their engines for the race.

"Real heroes" from the state of South Carolina include healthcare workers from St. Francis Downtown hospital in Greenville S.C., and McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, S.C., located just south of Darlington Raceway.

The sports leagues behind the Real Heroes Project launched a public service announcement on May 6 that featured some of the biggest names in sports including a pair of NASCAR Cup Series champions in Joe Gibbs Racing driver Kyle Busch and Stewart-Haas Racing driver Kevin Harvick. The PSA features more than 30 athletes sharing personal thank-you messages with their healthcare heroes and replacing the names on their own jerseys and uniforms with the names of individual medical professionals.

The campaign encourages sports fans to pay tribute to the frontline healthcare workers in their lives on social media using #TheRealHeroes.

As NASCAR resumes the 2020 race season on Sunday, The Real Heroes 400 will be the first of three national series races at Darlington Raceway in the span of four days – all taking place without fans in attendance. The NASCAR Xfinity Series will return to action on Tuesday, May 19 (8 p.m. ET on FS1), followed by the second NASCAR Cup Series race at Darlington on Wednesday, May 20 (7:30 p.m. ET on FS1).

Devil’s Bowl Speedway COVID-19 UpdateFriday, May 8, 2020

Dear Fans, Racers, and Friends,

We hope and trust that you all are staying safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. These are certainly unprecedented times that have affected, and will continue to affect, every aspect of our daily lives. While it is certainly frustrating to not always be allowed to enjoy things that we have sometimes taken for granted – like dirt track racing at Devil's Bowl Speedway – the health and safety of everyone is far more important.

Some encouraging news: Governor Phil Scott on Wednesday, May 6, announced new guidance under Addendum 13 of Vermont's "Stay Home, Stay Safe" Executive Order, which will allow outdoor recreational activities to resume, albeit under strict guidelines. With this new guidance, Governor Scott has granted permission for the state's stock car tracks to open with limited practice sessions.

As of this writing, we have postponed the date of our 54th season opening race event at Devil's Bowl Speedway. The racing event on Sunday, May 17, has been cancelled. For now, the smart choice is to take things step-by-step and await further guidance from Governor Scott. We will evaluate any further changes daily, and we will be sure to communicate any adjustments promptly.

We have been working to ensure that Devil's Bowl Speedway will follow mandated health and safety guidelines, and we are pleased to say that we are ready to begin holding private testing sessions next week.

Please note that these testing sessions will be held under many restrictions in accordance with the "arrive, play, and leave" guidance in Addendum 13 to Executive Order 01-20 (Play Smart and Play Safe: Restart Phase V), issued by Governor Phil Scott on May 6, 2020. It is crucial that all participants understand and adhere to the following rules:

1.      HEALTH & SAFETY GUIDELINES:

1.      No persons shall be permitted on the grounds of Devil's Bowl Speedway if they are sick or symptomatic with fever, cough, and/or shortness of breath.

2.      Each person will have their temperature taken (with a non-contact thermometer, if available) before entering the premises.

3.      The use of face masks covering the nose and mouth will be mandatory for Devil's Bowl Speedway employees. All others will be highly encouraged to use face masks, and Devil's Bowl Speedway will make every effort to have a supply available.

4.      Hand sanitizer will be made available for everyone.

5.      When possible, walking paths will be indicated with direction and traffic flow.

6.      Race team trailers/pit stalls will be a minimum of twenty-five (25) feet apart. Participants will be required to stay in their respective pit stalls as much as possible, and to always maintain proper physical distancing of six (6) feet or more from other groups.

7.      Personal vehicles will be parked no less than ten (10) feet apart in the parking lot.

8.      Restrooms will be open, with hot water and soap readily available.

9.      Registration windows will not be open. Upon arrival, each team will be given a registration form/waiver of release, a pen, and five (5) pit pass wristbands, to limit physical contact. Teams will be directed to leave completed forms at a designated area to be determined.

10.  Food concessions will not be open.

2.      FACILITY OPERATING PROCEDURES:

1.      Racing and general admission ticket sales will be suspended at Devil's Bowl Speedway until such time that it is safe to have spectators attend as in any previous non-pandemic period. Only closed, private testing sessions will be held until further notice.

2.      Officials and staff will work strictly on a volunteer basis, with a limited number of staff permitted to be on Devil's Bowl Speedway grounds.

3.      Competitors are not required to attend – registration and attendance is strictly voluntary.

4.      Test sessions will be available only to residents of Vermont, per the Governor's orders, to include drivers, team and family members, track staff and officials, or others.

5.      Grandstand seating will be closed.

6.      Test sessions will be by reservation only. Race teams will not be permitted to attend unless they have received prior approval from Devil's Bowl Speedway officials.

7.      Testing sessions will be restricted to a maximum of ten (10) race teams.

8.      Teams will be restricted to not more than five (5) persons per racecar including the driver.

9.      A flat fee of $125 will be charged per team, plus a 4% credit card transaction fee ($5). Payment for registration ($130 total) must be made electronically via credit card at the time of reservation, prior to entering the facility.

10.  The pit area will be open at 4:30 p.m., with testing sessions held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The facility will close, and all persons must exit by 8:45 p.m.

11.  No personal vehicles will be permitted in the pit area.

We realize – and deeply regret – that this current order excludes our dedicated and passionate supporters from New York, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and elsewhere; nearly half of our regular fan and competitor base is from outside Vermont, along with several track officials and key personnel. We understand the Governor's reasoning for this exclusion, though we hope that those restrictions can be relieved soon.

We have been clear since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic that we cannot and will not race without our fans present. Racing in front of an empty grandstand would be a poor financial decision for our business, and it would simply be unfair to hold a race without the people who love and support it.

Whether the Governor's orders change or not, Devil's Bowl Speedway will not survive either in spirit or on the bank ledger without the support of ALL our fans and participants, whether they are from Vermont or not. Other facilities are planning to race without spectators while offering a live video stream, but that is not a viable option for Devil's Bowl Speedway, and it will not be in our plans. We can get by on test sessions for now, but we will wait to hold racing events until it is safe to do so with everyone present.

With that said, we are excited and relieved that things are moving in a positive direction for Vermont, and we will do what it takes to ensure that the opening of Devil's Bowl Speedway does not set that progress back. We encourage you to remember that the COVID-19 pandemic has not gone away. Several of our own loved ones and many more in our extended racing family have been affected by this disease, and we continue to take things very seriously. Racing is a way of life for many of us, but it should not force a choice between life and death. We will do our part to try to prevent the spread of COVID-19 while easing back into a normal routine. It may still take some time, but we will get there eventually.

We truly, deeply appreciate the support of everyone in the racing community. We will remain in contact with you as this process develops quickly. Get those cars ready, and as C.J. Richards used to say: "Keep the faith."

We will see you soon!
