SPRING FEVER: MODIFIED CARS & CULTURE TO BE PART OF TORONTO MOTORAMA SHOW FOR FIFTH YEAR

SPRING FEVER: MODIFIED CARS & CULTURE TO BE
PART OF TORONTO MOTORAMA SHOW FOR FIFTH YEAR

March 13, 14 & 15, 2020 at Toronto's International Centre

TORONTO, ON // FEBRUARY 21, 2020 • Celebrating its fifth anniversary as part of the Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports ExpoSpring Fever: Modified Cars and Culture, returns to Toronto's International Centre on March 13, 14 & 15, 2020 to highlight the vehicles, attitude and lifestyle of the tuner, import and modern modified car hobby.

Presented by Oakville, Ontario's Burning Rubber Tire & Speed, this year, Spring Fever will be moving into Hall 3 at the International Centre.

"We're excited for the move," expressed Spring Fever Director Kristine Hill. "It's a new hall, with a new look and it brings a new energy to our part of the Motorama show."

She continued, "One thing the move has done is force us to be slightly more selective in our choice of entries. We will still showcase 60 vehicles, but they will be the highest quality that we could find. And we will have a larger variety of vehicles than we've ever had in the past, everything from sleek and cool to loud and outrageous."

Drawing entries from as far away as Quebec and Florida, Spring Fever will feature cars ranging from luxury modified vehicles and drifters, to high-performance, traditional Japanese tuners and exotic hi-lift trucks.

"This will be a great way for show visitors to see the progression of the tuner and modified hobby over the years."

Hill then went on to reveal that, while Spring Fever prefers to showcase as many 'first-time shown' vehicles as possible, several past award winners – including the 2019 'Best in Show' car, a Jeep Wrangler owned by Jagraj Grewal – will also be on display. All the vehicles will be competing for Spring Fever awards that recognize quality workmanship, overall presentation and uniqueness of each entry. A trio of judges, all former championship-level tuners themselves, will scrutinize the vehicles giving special consideration to 'fit, function, flow and sense of balance.'

Expanding on the lifestyle portion of this 'show within a show,' Spring Fever attendees will also be able to enjoy a wide variety of discipline-related vendors, while being entertained by continual music courtesy of DJs Vito and Adele from Vitel Events. Vehicle wrap demonstrations will run throughout the three-day Motorama show. A tattoo artist will also be on hand for the most engaged show visitors.

"We are going to keep things fresh on the Burning Rubber Stage, as well," continued Hill. "On our stage we will be having such things as a 'best beard' and 'best tattoo' competition and maybe even a pie-eating contest. Just some silly things to keep people smiling."

Although one of the newer disciplines in the custom car hobby, the tuner, import and modern modified segments have found a strong following, especially among the younger car hobbyists.

Concluded Hill, "There is a much larger reliance on technology, in these cars. The focus has shifted away from the mechanical side. That doesn't say that you won't see some older vehicles, but if you look carefully, you will see how the car builders have incorporated new technology into their cars and trucks. It's a new game where the tuning tools come though a keyboard, rather than a wrench."

VEGAS RAT RODS ALUMNUS GRANT SCHWARTZ RETURNING TO TORONTO MOTORAMA SHOW

VEGAS RAT RODS ALUMNUS GRANT SCHWARTZ
RETURNING TO TORONTO MOTORAMA SHOW

March 13, 14 & 15, 2020 at Toronto's International Centre

TORONTO, ON // FEBRUARY 28, 2020 • Following a two-year stint as a member of Steve Darnell's WelderUp / Vegas Rat Rods fabricating staff, Grant Schwartz returned home to Elmira, Ontario to concentrate on "doing my own thing."

"Working on the TV show was completely different from anything else I've ever done," said Schwartz. "But it was a great learning experience. Everyone builds in their own fashion and watching the way those extremely talented people work – and seeing the different tricks they use to get to a finished project – has translated into some great new ideas and procedures for me in my own business."

In an effort to promote Schwartz Welding and to demonstrate his talents and some of those new ideas to custom car hobbyists, Schwartz will return to the 6th Annual Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo with a booth (#M117) in Hall 4 at the International Centre, better known as Mayhem…in the Backroom.

The show runs March 13, 14 & 15 at will fill more than 330,000 square feet of the giant venue, located across from Toronto's Pearson International Airport. And when he isn't at his display, Schwartz will be taking part in various discussions panels and awards presentations on the Pinty's Stage (in Hall 2) and in the Celebrity VIP Meet & Greet sessions, at Motorama.

Proudly describing himself as a 'hands-on' fabricator, Schwartz creates vehicles from "the steering wheel on down" and is currently directing his passion for Hot Rods into a new, focussed venture.

"Almost everything I've done has been associated with Hot Rods. And now, custom-built trucks are getting really popular in the hobby. People are transforming everything from Model A's, to 1950 half-tons… into street rods."

Capitalizing on this trend, some of the on-going projects in the Schwartz Welding fabrication shop include a 1940 Chevy pickup, a 1939 Ford truck as well as a 1949 International.

"What I'm now doing is building and selling a chassis based on a 1970 Ford that I brought home from Vegas Rat Rods. Guys will be able to hang a body from any 1967 to 1979 – long or short box – on my chassis. I will have one of these chassis in my booth in the Mayhem room for the entire weekend. And I'll be there to answer any questions people might have."

Schwartz concluded, "All of my builds have one thing in common, they're all vehicles that are driveable, enjoyable and safe. No 'trailer queens' for me."

VIAGRA Joins RONA and St-Hubert As Co-Primary Sponsor for Alex Tagliani’s Number 18 Chevrolet in the 2020 NASCAR Pinty’s Series

VIAGRA Joins RONA and St-Hubert As Co-Primary Sponsor for Alex Tagliani's Number 18 Chevrolet in the 2020 NASCAR Pinty's Series

Quebec City, March 3, 2020 – Racecar driver Alex Tagliani introduced Guillaume Dubois, Marketing Manager at Upjohn, a Pfizer Division, when he revealed the new livery for Team 22 Racing number 18 Chevrolet Camaro on Tuesday in Quebec City. The design introduces new sponsor VIAGRA, which joins RONA and St Hubert as co-primary sponsors for the upcoming 2020 NASCAR Pinty's Series season. The new colour scheme, which was revealed at the Salon International de l'Auto de Québec, also includes additional partners who join the three co-primary sponsors for this year's NASCAR Pinty's Series 13-race schedule.

"On the eve of the upcoming 2020 Pinty's racing season, we have a lot of announcements to make, one that includes a new sponsor who brings new colours to our Team 22 Racing car. I am proud to introduce the iconic VIAGRA brand as a co-primary sponsor," said Alex Tagliani.

"VIAGRA's participation in our sport is an extension of the brand's ongoing focus of reflecting the spirit of vitality that's associated with men being proactive and open about their health and wellbeing. As the driver of the number 18 racecar, I am very happy to have VIAGRA joining us as one of our main sponsors and pleased to present this racecar to NASCAR fans. I hope we reach new heights in 2020 with lots of podiums and wins."

"I am really honoured that VIAGRA, which just celebrated its 20th anniversary in Canada, is joining our team as one of our major sponsors on the #18 car for the 2020. The 22 Racing Team Chevrolet Camaro will still sport the RONA and St Hubert colours and as we speak, we are working with them on a new, soon to be launched, program. I would like at this point to also mention that CanTorque and La Petite Bretonne, two of my long-time supporters, along with 440 Laval Chevrolet, have extended their relationship with me and the team. I would also like to welcome two newcomers: Tristan Fleet Management, and Andy Transport. I am grateful to all for their commitment,¨ concluded Tagliani.

Several people helped Alex and his team unveil his 2020 livery at the Salon International de l'Auto de Québec. Besides key roles played by members of the Salon, Alex and his team were pleased to be able to count on Dominic Fugère of the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, who acted as Master of Ceremonies.

Over the winter months, Tagliani's team has been hard at work getting the number 18 Chevrolet Camaro VIAGRA/RONA/St Hubert ready for a very competitive 2020 NASCAR Pinty's season. Alex was also busy working on several projects with the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, including contests that will enable several race fans to attend the GP3R event next August with Team 22 Racing.

NASCAR Pinty's Series schedule changes for 2020

Officials of the NASCAR Pinty's Series were also busy at work organizing a new, varied race schedule with several changes being made in for 2020. No longer on the schedule are Riverside Speedway in Nova Scotia, Autodrome St-Eustache, north of Montreal, and the short-lived annual trek south of the border to New Hampshire Speedway. These three races will be replaced by a couple of familiar tracks: Sunset Speedway and Circuit ICAR, and the first dirt track race at Ohsweken Speedway in Ontario.

Sunset Speedway, located in Innisfil, Ontario, returns to the schedule after a four-year absence as round four of the 2020 season, and will be held on July 4, between the event at Autodrome Chaudière, Quebec, and the race on the streets of Toronto. Alex Tagliani won the last two races on Sunset's 0.53 – km oval in 2015 and 2016. In 2015, he wrote his name in the NASCAR Canada history book when he lapped the entire field on his way to Victory Circle. Tag led the last 192 laps of the 300-lap affair. The following year on the same oval track, he won again, this time leading 163 of the 300-lap race.

Circuit ICAR, the other track to return to the 2020 schedule after a three-year absence, will be held September 12. Round 12 of the race season will be held between two Ontario races: the Canadian Motorsport Park race in Bowmanville and the season finale at Jukasa Motor Speedway. Tag will be looking for his first win on this road course. In 2015, he finished third and in 2014 and 2017 he placed fifth. His overall record shows five top-8 results at ICAR.

The August 18 race at the 0.6-km dirt track at the Ohsweken Speedway in Ontario will the first dirt race to be held in the NASCAR Pinty's Series history. Round 10 of the schedule will be held between two road course events: the Grand Prix of Trois-Rivières, which extends its length from 50 to 60 laps, and will be held on August 9, and the September 6 race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP).

With two races in Bowmanville including the season opener; two at Jukasa Motor Speedway including the season finale, and the three-race annual Western swing to Saskatoon and Edmonton for a total of 13 races, there will be a lot of racing to keep Canadian teams and race fans occupied during summer 2020.

Fans can follow Alex Tagliani before and during the 2020 season by visiting www.tagliani.com, or follow him on Twitter at @TAGLIANI, or @tagliani18 on Instagram and like him on Facebook at www.facebook.com/Tagliani.
