NASCAR Canada Series Receives New Name with Presenting Partner Model Evirum and Pinty's are initial presenting partners for Canada’s premier motorsport series

NASCAR Canada Series Receives New Name with Presenting Partner Model
Evirum and Pinty's are initial presenting partners for Canada's premier motorsport series

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Nov 21, 2023) — Beginning in 2024, NASCAR's Canadian series will be known as the NASCAR Canada Series with Evirum and Pinty's serving as Presenting Partners. The series, currently the NASCAR Pinty's Series, is entering its 18th season as the top national motorsport in Canada.

NASCAR officials also unveiled the 2024 schedule for the NASCAR Canada Series, which features 13 races across six provinces.

"Canadian motorsports fans are incredibly passionate, and the new NASCAR Canada Series name appropriately captures their nationalistic pride," said Chad Seigler, NASCAR chief international officer. "The series features Canada's biggest racing stars, competing at the top tracks across the country. With an influx of talented young drivers and a garage full of healthy and competitive teams, interest in the series is at an all-time high. We are excited to build off recent momentum and deliver great racing to fans across Canada."

Pinty's, which has served as series entitlement partner since 2016, and Evirum are Presenting Partners of the series, with each investing across the industry, including teams, tracks and fan promotions.

"Evirum is excited to join NASCAR Canada as one of their Presenting Partners and as its Official Residual Materials Management and Environmental Solutions Provider," said @Julien Remillard, Evirum president. "Our involvement in this thrilling series dates back to last season, where we offered support to some drivers, race promoters and race track operators. When the opportunity to become a Series Partner presented itself, it was a natural progression in alignment with our expanding presence across Canada and the United States. We eagerly anticipate sharing our expertise with NASCAR Canada and its stakeholders to bolster their recycling and sustainability efforts."

"Once again, we are very proud to associate the name of our Pinty's brand with NASCAR Canada as a presenting partner, thus supporting motorsport in Canada, which will now have a new race in Quebec," said Yanick Gervais, Olymel president and CEO.

The schedule for the 2024 season features a mix of traditional events with a new season finale at Autodrome Montmagny – the first visit to the track for the NASCAR Canada Series and the first series finale to be held in Quebec (Sept. 22). The season will open at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) on Victoria Day weekend (May 19) as it did every year from 2011-2019.

In between, the series will again race at Riverside Speedway in Nova Scotia with a doubleheader weekend (June 29-30), creating an East Coast Swing following the race at Eastbound Speedway in Newfoundland and Labrador (June 22).

The popular dirt race at Ohsweken Speedway will return for the third year and will move to July 11, before the traditional Western Swing to Sutherland Automotive Speedway in Saskatoon (July 20) and Edmonton International Raceway (July 27).

The Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, which has been run since 1967, returns on Sunday, August 11.

NASCAR also announced that longtime Canadian motorsports executive Alan Labrosse has been named General Manager of NASCAR Canada. Labrosse, a member of the Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame, will be charged with growing and promoting NASCAR throughout Canada, which includes oversight of the NASCAR Canada Series. Following a successful career as a driver, Labrosse transitioned to the business side of the sport. He owned and operated Autodrome St-Eustache for 13 years and has served as a promoter, team owner and agent.

All NASCAR Canada Series races air on TSN and RDS in Canada and FloSports in the United States. The full broadcast schedule will be announced at a later date.

Brad Moran Named to Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame Class of 2023

Toronto native has dedicated more than 30 years to motorsports career

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Nov. 2, 2023) — NASCAR Cup Series Managing Director Brad Moran has been announced as an inductee in the Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame Class of 2023. The Toronto native has spent more than 30 years in motorsports as a competitor, track owner and official.

Moran joined NASCAR in 2008 to oversee NASCAR's Touring Series, including the NASCAR Pinty's Series in Canada. He moved to the helm of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in July 2016, guiding the series through its first season of the playoff format. Moran was named NASCAR Cup Series Managing Director prior to the 2022 season and was instrumental in the implementation of the Next Gen car.

"Brad has been an incredible asset to NASCAR since joining our team and this honor is well deserved," said Elton Sawyer, NASCAR Senior Vice President, Competition. "His work has strengthened NASCAR from the grassroots level to the NASCAR Cup Series, and his dedication to motorsports has improved the industry in Canada and the United States."

Prior to joining NASCAR, Moran owned Barrie Speedway in Ontario for seven years. The track hosted both the NASCAR Pinty's Series and NASCAR Advanced Auto Parts Weekly Series, which helped develop Moran's relationship with NASCAR officials.

Moran is one of 15 inductees in the upcoming class that will be honored during the Canadian International Autoshow on Saturday, February 17, 2024 in Toronto. Joining Moran in the hall of fame class is long-time NASCAR Pinty's Series competitor Mark Dilley. Dilley has 143 career starts, fourth most in series history.

Ron Silk Avoids Trouble and Captures Second NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Championship

Ron Silk Avoids Trouble and Captures Second

NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Championship

Cup Series regular Ryan Preece scores emotional race

win in Virginia is for Racing Lovers 200

MARTINSVILLE, Va. (Oct. 27, 2022) – A season-long battle between two veteran champions came down to the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season finale and Ron Silk held on to secure his second career Tour championship with a sixth-place finish in the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 200 at Martinsville Speedway. NASCAR Cup Series regular Ryan Preece took home the Grandfather clock, winning in a sentimental car he prepared at his home shop.

Silk won his first championship in 2011, and when he joined up with the newly formed Haydt Yannone Racing team to start the 2022 season, another championship was on his mind. The title landed the new team their first owner's championship in only their sophomore season on the Tour.

Entering Thursday night's championship battle, Silk held a 13-point lead over three-time (2018, 2020, 2021) Tour champion Justin Bonsignore. Silk needed to finish eighth or better to ensure himself the win, regardless of Bonsignore's performance, but the path to the championship wasn't a clean one for Silk.

"It's been a long season, kinda weird racing tonight knowing the scenario, you gotta finish eighth or better if he wins," said Silk on knowing what it would take to win the title. "I tried to keep myself in a decent position most of the night, got turned around once on the backstretch but luckily didn't hit anything. It feels great, lot goes into this and it's really rewarding to get another one."

Bonsignore spent most of the night in the top five, while Silk had to battle through a pair of crashes in front of him along the way to only his second top-10 finish, and first since 2009, at Martinsville in seven starts.

On Lap 72, a backstretch incident between Bryan Narducci and Kyle Bonsignore also sent Silk spinning as he and several others came together in an attempt to avoid the mess in front of them. However, he came out of it pointed in the right direction and was able to quickly recover and continue on.

His championship hopes had a second scare on Lap 118 when a pair of cars spun in front of him in Turn 4, but he was able to maneuver around them without incident.

After that, Silk was able to maintain his spot in the top 10, securing his title despite a second-place effort from Bonsignore.

Preece, who drives the No. 41 Ford for Stewart-Haas Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series, decided three weeks ago to work with his father, Jeff, to prepare a car to race at Martinsville. The chassis they raced had special meaning to Preece, as his last Whelen Modified Tour win in it came at Richmond Raceway in 2021 as the No. 6 entry for Eddie Partridge. Partridge passed away hours after celebrating in Victory Lane with Preece that night.

"Most people, when you're at the Cup level and you come down and win, you probably wouldn't see so much emotion," said Preece. "But I put a lot of effort in my racing. I just put a lot into this. It hit me on the stage, the 'Virginia is for Lovers,' the last time I won on the Tour was Richmond, and that was the day I lost one of my best friends and my car owner. Which that is the same car that we bought from his wife."

The win marked the 26th on the Whelen Modified Tour for the 2013 Tour champion, who got his first win in the series at Martinsville in 2008.

Jake Johnson was crowned the Sunoco Rookie of the Year after a strong finish to his season. The driver of the No. 3 had one top five (a second-place finish in his last start of the season at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park on Oct. 8) and seven top 10s over 13 races contended.

Martinsville's Playoffs race weekend continues on Saturday, Oct. 28, a 3:30 p.m. ET with the NASCAR Xfinity Series Dead on Tools 250. Then, on Sunday, Oct. 29, at 2 p.m., Playoff drivers will put everything on the line in the final race before the Championship in the NASCAR Cup Series Xfinity 500 at Martinsville Speedway. Limited tickets remain for Sunday's showdown, and fans can purchase tickets to the 2023 NASCAR Playoffs Race Weekend via phone at 877-RACE-TIX or online atmartinsvillespeedway.com.
