Expanded “Road To The Oxford 250” Returns For 4th Year in 2017

Expanded "Road To The Oxford 250" Returns For 4th Year in 2017

OXFORD, ME (December 24) – Oxford Plains Speedway owner and Pro All Stars Series (PASS) President Tom Mayberry announced today the continuation of the "Road To The Oxford 250" program in 2017.  Celebrating its fourth year in 2017, the groundbreaking "Road To The Oxford 250" concept will expand to give racers across the continent the chance to compete in short track asphalt racing's biggest event.  As mentioned with the announcement of the Speedway 660 event over a month ago, competitors from Canada and the United States will have opportunity to race for guaranteed starting spots, while keeping the focus on the 250 throughout the season.

The 2016 Oxford 250 saw droves of race fans from across North America and over 60 Super Late Models make the annual August trek to Oxford Plains Speedway, making this one of the most successful editions of the venerable race in over a decade.  Wayne Helliwell, Jr. of Pelham, NH, a winner of a "Road To The Oxford 250" qualifier in 2016, captured the checkered flag and took home nearly $30,000 for his winning efforts.

"This year's race was a great event and once again proved that the Oxford 250 is one of the premier events in all of short track racing," said Mayberry.  "The 'Road To The Oxford 250' has grown every year since we first started it in 2014 and this year's will be the biggest yet.  We will be able to keep the 250 in focus throughout the year and, while there will be several spots offered through the program, many of these will not have to be used since most of those competitors will advance through the famed heat races.  The 'Road' will not reduce the number of starters that will be able to advance through qualifying."

The first event to be featured in the "Road To The Oxford 250" will be the PASS National Championship race at Orange County Speedway on March 25.  The winner of the 10thRunning Of The Orange Blossom Special will be the first driver with a guaranteed spot for the 250.  The best Super Late Models in the North and South will come together at Orange County Speedway with the added bonus of making the prestigious race.

The "Road" then continues to a pair of international events in Canada in the late spring.  PASS returns to Quebec at Autodrome Montmagny on May 21, with the top three finishers each from Canada and the United States advancing to the 250.  Then, on June 3, PASS heads to the Canadian Maritimes for an event at Speedway 600 in New Brunswick.  Like the Montmagny race, the top finishing drivers from Canada and the United States will advance to the 250, again this time three drivers will come from each country.

The final race as part of the "Road To The Oxford 250" will be a special non-points, Open at Oxford Plains Speedway on July 2. The Independence Weekend race changes from 2016 in that it will not be limited to PASS "non-winners."  In 2017, the PASS Open will be a way for any driver to get more seat time at Oxford Plains Speedway and have the chance to get locked into the 250.  The top three finishers who have not won a PASS event in the last five year will be guaranteed a spot in the 250, while the top two finishers who have won a PASS event will also be granted a provisional if needed.

Additionally, the top licensed drivers in points from PASS North, PASS South, and the PASS National Championship Series, will have a provisional available, if needed, as long as they have attempted to qualify for every race in their chosen series.  All drivers that will have guaranteed spots through the "Road To The Oxford 250" or via championship points provisionals have to compete in their heat races or in their consolation race, but will not have to compete in the last chance race if they have not already advanced.  A full schedule of events and support divisions for the 44th Annual Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway will be announced in the near future.

For media or marketing questions please contact Alan Dietz at alandietzpass@live.com or 704-231-2039.  More details will be announced soon and can be found at oxfordplains.com and ProAllStarsSeries.com.

THE     REASON BEING THAT WE CAN NOT SUSTAIN THE CAR COUNTS TO RUN A FULL SEASON. 2.         WE ARE GOING TO BE RUNNING 9" HOOSIER TIRES THAT WILL BE THE            SAME PRICE AS THE 8" AMERICAN RACER TIRE. MANY OF THE TOP        CAR BUILDERS AND RACE TEAMS THINK THIS IS A GREAT IDEA.

3.         WE WILL BE INSTITUTING A STRICT TIRE PROGRAM BEING:

            1ST RACE – 4-6 TIRES, 2ND RACE – 2 TIRES, 3RD RACE – 4 TIRES,

            4TH RACE – 2 TIRES, 5TH RACE 4 TIRES. TOTAL TIRE BILL $2,000 - $2,250

IF THIS HAPPENS, WE WILL SEE THE             CHAMPION             RECEIVING EXCESS OF $5,000, UNHEARD OF FOR TIGERS.     NOONE ELSE IS LOOKING AT THOSE KIND OF NUMBERS THAT RUN THE   SPORTSMAN TIGERS. 2017 PURSES CAN BE FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE.

4.         TIGERS WILL HAVE 3 SPECIAL RACES IN 2017.

STREET STOCKS

1.         AS YOU HAVE PROBABLY NOTICED ACROSS THE NORTHEAST, FOUR     CYLINDER STREET STOCK DIVISIONS HAVE SEEN SIGNIFICANT DECLINES IN CAR COUNTS. IN OUR AREA THERE ARE TONS OF CARS     SITTING AROUND ROTTING BECAUSE RACERS CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY   THEIR TIRE BILL. AS WE LOOKED AT OUR ROSTERS FROM 2016, AND             REALIZED THAT SEVERAL DRIVERS ARE MOVING UP DIVISIONS IN 2017             LEAVING US AN UNSURE CAR COUNT FOR, WE FEEL NOW IS THE BEST             TIME TO GET RID OF THE $80 TRACK TIRE AND GO TO SOMETHING   MORE AFFORDABLE. THE TIRE WE USE WILL BE A SHAVED TIRE, AND      PRICED AFFORDABLE. WE WILL BE ANNOUNCING THIS NEW TIRE RULE    IN THE NEAR FUTURE.

2.         A BIG $$$$ STREET STOCK SPECIAL WILL RETURN IN 2017

DAREDEVILS

1.         DAREDEVILS WILL USE THE SAME TIRE RULES AS STREET STOCKS IN 2017.

2.         DAREDEVILS WILL NOT BE AWARDED POINTS IN 2017. THIS IS SUPPOSE            TO BE A LEARNING EXPERIENCE, AND THERE SHOULD BE NO            PRESSURE ON PERFORMING AT THIS YOUNG AGE.

CYCLONES

1.         CYCLONES WILL BE A SPEEDWAY DIVISION IN 2017. THE RULES WILL   BE EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE NORTHEAST CYCLONES RUN BY JEAN    LEBLANC AND DOUG SHANNON. THIS WILL BASICALLY BE A BONE   STOCK DIVISION EXCEPT FOR SAFETY PRECAUTIONS, CAMBER, ETC.      WE WILL BE WORKING CLOSELY WITH THIS GROUP. CYCLONES WILL             RACE AS A REGULAR DIVISIONS WITH CAUTIONS.

LADY ANGELS

1.         2017 WILL SEE THE RETURN OF THE ANGELS SERIES FOR WOMEN           RACERS. THE RULES WILL BE EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE CYCLONES,    AND WILL BE RUN ON THE SAME NIGHTS THAT THE CYCLONES RACE.         AS WE RE-INTRODUCE THESE LADIES TO THE SPORT, THERE WILL BE            FEATURES ONLY UNTIL CAR COUNTS ALLOW FOR HEATS. LADY            RACERS MAY RUN A CAR FOR A CYCLONE DRIVER. THIS IS A GREAT             HUSBAND AND WIFE TEAM PROGRAM. ANGELS WILL RACE LIKE A        REGULAR DIVISIONS WITH CAUTIONS AND A LIMITED PURSE.

PURE STOCKS

1.         NO CHANGES SCHEDULED FOR THE PURE STOCKS. WE NEED MORE       CARS. TALK TO YOUR FRIENDS.

 CLOSING REMARKS

PLEASE SEE WHAT SPEEDWAY 51 IS TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH HERE. CUTTING YOUR RACING EXPENSES DRAMATICALLY. MAKING RACING AFFORDABLE AGAIN!! NO OTHER AREA TRACKS ARE DOING THIS. WHAT SPEEDWAY 51 IS DOING IS CUTTING EDGE TECHNOLOGY. JOEY, JEFF AND PAM ARE THE ONLY RACE GROUP IN THE AREA THAT IS TOTALLY LOOKING OUT FOR YOU RACERS, ANYONE ELSE GIVING YOU FREE TIRES? NO. NASCAR Unveils New Brand Identity, Premier Series Name and Mark

NASCAR Unveils New Brand Identity, Premier Series Name and Mark

Premier Series to Be Named Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Beginning in 2017

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Dec. 19, 2016) –- NASCAR today unveiled a new official brand identity which will replace the bar mark used by the sanctioning body since 1976. The announcement was made in conjunction with the news that Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will be the new name of the sport's premier series beginning January 1, 2017.

The new brand mark and Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series mark, which prominently features the iconic Monster Energy logo, together represent a new era in NASCAR and were first shared today across NASCAR social and digital media channels.

The NASCAR brand identity has been in development since early 2016 as part of a broader effort to refresh the NASCAR brand. It was designed to pay tribute to the storied history of NASCAR, incorporating elements of all four previous marks since the company's inaugural season of 1948.

"Our new NASCAR mark is modern, timeless, and embraces the heritage of our sport," said Jill Gregory, NASCAR senior vice president and chief marketing officer. "It was important for us to recognize our history and implement a piece of each previous mark in the new design. Our goal was to evolve the sport's visual identity to make it concise, relevant and functional, while respecting and maintaining the unique qualities of the original mark."

The first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series points race will be the 59th running of the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway on Feb. 26 (2 p.m. ET, FOX, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio). Tickets are available at NASCAR.com/tickets.

Scott Steckly and Erb Transport Food Drive Set to Launch Tomorrow

Scott Steckly and Erb Transport Food Drive Set to Launch Tomorrow

#ErbDriveFor5

For Immediate Release

Monday December 12, 2016 - (Baden, ON) - Four-time NASCAR Pinty's Series Champion Scott Steckly and long-time sponsor Erb Transport's #ErbDrivefor5 five-day food drive is set to launch tomorrow, Tuesday December 13th, in support of the Wilmot Family Resource Centre's Food Bank, a member of the Food Bank of Waterloo Region.

Giving back to the community and helping those in need has been a core principal of the Erb Group of Companies from the beginning. Since its inception in 1959 they have remained committed to being a good corporate citizen and employer. For the past 10 years Erb Transport has held an internal pre-holiday season food and toy drive. Most recently with Trucks For Change, a group who connect truck carriers with community charities, they helped by taking a shipment of donated food to Thunder Bay in Northwestern Ontario.

Representing Erb Transport since 1999, Steckly drove to National titles in 2008, 2011, 2013 and 2015. He is most recognized as a driver but he's also well respected within the NASCAR Pinty's Series community as the 22 Racing Team owner.

"Like a career in racing, life has its highs and lows.  My family, the 22 Racing crew, sponsors and their families and fans have supported me during the wins and through the challenging times." said Steckly "I've been truly blessed with the support I have around me. The Holiday Season can put an extra strain on families who may already be struggling. Together with Erb Transport we look forward to helping the 1 in 20 households that struggle to find their way from hunger to hope."

Within the Region of Waterloo – which includes Wilmot Township, 17% of those accessing food assistance are employed, 3% receive Employment Insurance, 30% receive Ontario Disability Support. 40% of households receiving food support are families with children.  Since 2008 there has been a 30% increase in emergency food hamper requests in Waterloo Region.

From December 13th to December 16th 2016 non-perishable food items can be dropped off in the lobby at three Erb Group locations:

Erb Transport – Head Office
290 Hamilton Road
New Hamburg

Erb Transport – Baden
1473 Gingerich Road
Baden

K-DAC Expedite

The five-day #ErbDrivefor5 Food Drive initiative will conclude on Saturday December 17th at the New Hamburg Community Centre Arena at 251 Jacob St, New Hamburg, ON between 10:00 AM and 2 PM where Steckly will be available for autographs and photos with fans and will have his #22 NASCAR Pinty's Series race car on display where he hopes to "Stuff a Stock Car" with non-perishable food donations.

In addition to the #22 NASCAR Pinty's Series race car and several displays will be set up including a colouring station hosted by Wilmot's Youth Action Council where children can colour a 22 Racing car and helmet. Donors are encouraged to take a selfie to post on Facebook or Twitter with the hashtag #ErbDrivefor5 in order to be eligible to win 2 tickets to a NASCAR Pinty's Series event in 2017, hat & t-shirt and Race Time Radio bobble heads.  Additionally Mopar Canada have donated some prize items that will also be awarded.

Pour la saison 2017, les équipes sont amenées à voter sur la distribution des bourses et fonds de points selon 3 possibilités;

2017 Schedule Announced For Pinty's Series

11th Season of Canadian Championship Features Unique Events
Official Release
December 8, 2016 - 12:10pm

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Coming off an historic inaugural season with a new entitlement partner, the NASCAR Pinty's Series is primed to capitalize on that momentum with a 2017 schedule that includes traditional marque events and several unique changes.

The NASCAR Pinty's Series will open on Sunday, May 21 with the popular Victoria Day weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ont. The series will make a second stop at the road course on Sunday, Sept. 3 in conjunction with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. And the Toronto Honda Indy weekend will again feature Canada's national stock car championship series in the event held by Toronto's Lake Ontario waterfront on the Exhibition Place street course. The series will be the headliner on Saturday, July 15.

"From Cayden Lapcevich's memorable championship campaign, to the thrilling battles between Quebec's favorites Andrew Ranger, Alex Tagliani, Kevin Lacroix and Alex Labbe, the 2016 NASCAR Pinty's Series was one for the record books," said George Silbermann, NASCAR vice president of weekly & touring series. "With the newly released schedule, the 2017 season is shaping to take that excitement to the next level. The mix of world-class road courses and challenging ovals will provide a great test for drivers and teams, and excite fans across Canada."

"The first season as an entitlement sponsor with NASCAR exceeded our wildest expectations," said Tony Spiteri, Pinty's senior vice president, marketing, research & development. "Pinty's Foods is proud to be part of the top racing series in Canada, and to have our brand represented at some of the best racing tracks in the country."

The annual West Coast swing will feature a new look: The NASCAR Pinty's Series will visit Wyant Group Raceway in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, for twin features on Wednesday, July 25, and then travel to Alberta's Edmonton International Raceway on Saturday, July 29. The three championship events will mark the halfway point of the 2017 season.

The series' seventh trip to Circuit ICAR, on the grounds of Montreal's Mirabel International Airport, will also feature a new look. The road-course event will be run under the lights on Saturday, July 8. The 13-race schedule includes a return to Ontario's Delaware Speedway, as well.

Other highlights of the 2016 schedule include:

• The season will conclude on Saturday, Sept. 16 at Kawartha Speedway in Fraserville, Ontario. The .375-mile oval has hosted the final race of the NASCAR Pinty's Series in each of the previous 10 seasons.
• One of the most anticipated races each year is the Circuit de Trois-Rivieres, and the series will take to the Quebec street course on Sunday, Aug. 13.
• The penultimate race of the year will take place at Quebec's Autodrome St-Eustace (Sept. 9), and the series will again visit the high-banked action-packed Riverside International Speedway in Nova Scotia (Aug. 19) and feature an early-season showdown at Quebec's Autodrome Chaudiere (June 17).
• In addition to Toronto, which is in its second of a three-year agreement, NASCAR has signed three-year sanction agreements with Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Riverside and Circuit de Trois-Rivieres.
